Special Photo Challenge: Inspiration

What inspires you to blog? We blog because there are people, places, things, and ideas that we care about so much we can’t help but tell the world about them. We want to know what inspires you. For this special mid-week photo challenge, we want to see portraits of you doing something that inspires you to blog.

I have a modest photo blog. One of my favorite things to do with my camera in-hand is exploring places: new cities, old buildings, sweeping forests. I love sneaking in and trying to find what makes each place special.

Exploring an old building before its remodeled.

Exploring an old building before it’s remodeled and trying to capture the imperfections.

Show us photos of yourself doing things that inspire you to blog. Have a cooking blog? Let’s see you in the kitchen. Run a fitness blog? We want to see you in action.

For this contest, we’ll pick the winners and feature them in some design tests for WordPress.com. Basically, we’ll be testing a few different versions of the homepage on a small percentage of users (which means someone might see your photo on the homepage!) We’ll credit each photo with your name or WordPress.com username and a link to your WordPress.com blog. Please note that by entering this contest, you give us permission to use your photo anywhere on WordPress.com with credit.

We’ll choose photos that best show YOU doing things that inspire you. Please note that we’re not looking for photos of you blogging in front of your computer. We want to see why you blog! We encourage you to get up from your computer and show us. Feel free to have a friend take a picture of you doing those great things if you can’t get the self-timer on your camera working. 😉

To participate:

  • Create a post with the picture of you (upload the highest resolution you have in JPG or PNG format) and publish it on your blog.
  • Post the URL below in the comments and we’ll check out all your entries!
  • Tag your post with #memyblog so others participating can browse other entries and get to know you.

We’ll be looking for your entries through Friday, November 30th. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Please note: While we won’t be able to use all of your entries in the tests for WordPress.com, we’re really grateful for your participation. Users will not be notified directly if their image is being used, but the image will have a credit and link back to the users’s site.

  1. Great challenge(and photo)! Can we use a previous photo for this particular challenge? Our first post is just so perfect for this. A self-portrait that shows the mental anguish that led to the founding of Broken Light. It represents depression, being bullied, self-loathing, etc. I am constantly inspired to help other people who are going through similar struggles with mental health issues as a sufferer myself, and friend and family to others suffering. I believe and have witnessed that encouraging people who are in troubled states (such as the one depicted in this post) to photograph and share photos can help therapeutically on the path to recovery.

I have updated it with a high res, unwatermarked version in case you would like to use it for anything. Thanks for the consideration. Anything to get the word out and help more people is a blessing.

    1. Hi EOF737, I am ususally behind the camera as well! pictures of me are few and far between, so I am going to dig out my tripod and remote trigger and get a picture of me taking a picture, or do you think a shadow of me taking a picture would fit the criteria? either way I am going to have to work on this~
