  2. I met my friend when we were in high school. We clicked instantly. We’ve been good friends ever since. I think we lasted so long because we understand each other. “Friends come and go, but good friends last forever.”

  3. My oldest friend is my husband, Dave. We married in 1984. He has supported me by being a great husband, step-Dad, editor – of my blog – and when I was in or out of a job. He helps cook and clean up. Who could ask for anything more?

I considered her my sister ’cause we’re the same in so many ways. I feel that Iam always at her side even though we are miles apart

  5. When I was 20 alone and living in the YWCA I came downstairs and into the dining room. There at one table were two girls. One Indian and one from Singapore they smiled at me and said ” Why don’t you sit with us “, so I did and that was that. They came to visit me this year and that was more than 30 years ago. 6. I was living in India and one evening I was so exasperated with the chit chat at a huge party that I challenged someone on some topic. A tiny shy little woman came up to me later and said …” I LIKE you …” She looked like a princess in her silk saree and with her elegant ways …. but she turned out to be a rascal. Educated and clever and infinitely kind. We’ve been best friends for over thirty five years. We’ve travelled all over the world, lived through births and deaths and tragedies and triumphs. She’s like my “heart sister”. We’ve already decided to reincarnate as sister or good friends the next time around.

  7. Mine moved in next door when I was six. Time gets in our way but we remain close friends through this day. She is an amazing fund-raiser/money-maker/dynamo for the hospital system she works for and no one I know types faster than she does.

I remember three things in particular: (1) swimming in 60+ degree waters along the Jersey shore on an overcast day (we were about 10 years old); (2) spending a lot of time talking about how OLD we’d be when Y200K happened; (3) she’d wrap a belt around her head and say she wanted to grow up and be a Native American. 🙂

This was a fun idea, Scott! Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays!

  9. My Best Friend
Since I was 12 he was my best friend
A friendship which will last to the end
Some say we’re birds of a feather
We thrive and grew up together
We got separated and went our ways
But we never forgot our good old days
Growing up in the village when we were boys
We were very poor and hardly had any toys
We ate, drank and once even slept on the same bed
We were very competitive each trying to get ahead
We both eventually landed in Canada
A far land from my beloved Guyana
In our old age it’s still a pleasure
For his friendship is a real treasure
But friendly ties are still strong
As I continue to sing this song

  10. My oldest friend? My longest-term friend was younger than I – we confided, we laughed, we cried, we fought, we collaborated, we lived, she died. My best friend is The Barbarian, and has been for over a decade. But he, too, is younger than I. I have no close friends who were born before me. I guess that means that my oldest friend — is me.
