What was the last noble thing you did?

  1. I walked 28 miles in my shoes. Raised awareness and money for cancer research in the meantime. Don’t know if that qualifies as a noble deed, but there aren’t many more pertinent examples.

  3. This morning I went to Starbuck out of habit and after getting my drink I realized that I would rather give it to the homeless guy who sits in front of my office selling Chicago’s Streetwise magazine. He was very sweet and thankful and I put my money to better use.

What I want to do this weekend: make holiday cards for a near-by convalescent center. I always like to make them and send them to those folks who don’t get any mail around the holidays. I try to find interesting quotes and non-denominational images to add.

  6. I remember following a tractor a few years ago through the town streets. When an unattached hook swung out and broke the wing mirror of a car on the other side of the road, I followed the tractor, wrote down his license plate, turned around and went back to the car with the damage and gave him the details of it as well as my phone number if he should need back up.

  7. Deciding to be a positive person, I guess, or to be happier. I know it’s my responsibility to help myself, but after how ever many years of depression, that feels like it might have been a noble decision. Still in the process of carrying it out, of course. That’s my full-time job.

  8. The question, “What was the last noble thing you did?” Well, that would be making the decision to choose the “truth” instead of a “lie.” You see, my life lessons here lately has involved great disappointment and loss. Now, I could have blamed God, but the “truth” is that “change” is a part of life, and change isn’t always convenient or pleasant. So, I prayed, meditated and worked my way through the course or what can be called life’s test… I see clearly, that possesing and effectuating moral principals (noble) often requires an enlighten character and the willingness to accept responsability, no matter how inconvenient, when opportunity presents itself, even if, it involves just yourself.

  11. A friend was having a rough day at work yesterday. I went and visited her and gave her a hug. It was the first time any of her friends had visited her at work, and it made her day.

    1. OMG, that was a beautiful gesture from you!!! Sometimes just a hug, a smile or a kind word or two can boost one’s spirts from the feeling of despair or defeat. Sometimes, just knowing that someone gives a darn; well, that’s what get’s us through and revitalizes one spirt for keeping on, inspite of, life’s challenges…… 🙂 Namaste.

    1. Yes, yes and more of the same….. It’s the right thing to do, and kindness assist in world healing; it can be contageous. Did you see the news article on Yahoo speaking of individuals in Michigan that are randomly paying off peoples lay-away accounts at K-mart and/or Walmart…. Wow!

  12. I didn’t honk at the lady in front of me even though her indecision lasted the entire length of the light and I had to sit through two reds.

I read someone’s blog (I wish I could remember the blogger) the other day who had challenged herself to do 12 nice things for people on December 12. I decided to challenge myself as well, 13 on the 13th, 14 on the 14th. So far, I’ve only been able to do a max of five a day (and I’m counting walking the dog). It’s harder than one thinks, but I’m trying for 15 today.
    I love your blog! (1)

    1. The question was, “What was the last noble thing you did?” However, from a political perspective, I can see how your comment would be appropriate. But, my response was not coming from a political perspective; it came from my heart, my feelings… Simply, my comment is spiritual in nature, as I’m sharing what’s true in my experience. Many of us perform noble acts of kindness everyday in our world; and it’s marvelous when those acts are acknowledged by our family, friends and neighbors. But it’s important to also see that nobility in ourselves, even if it only involves oneself, as our maturity and growth requires much introspective work most often, and that realization doesn’t need to be validated by anyone, except our creator.
Thank you for your reply, and be good to others and yourself. God Bless and Namaste.

  13. Well talking about any noble thing I did———– here I have a different view point, whatever noble deed I somehow managed to do be it money in charity, helping the poor and needy, teaching a deserving student, giving time who wanted to be heard, providing proper meal to those who are away from home and look forward for home flavour food, should be with me, I just pray that it’s accepted by Allmighty.

  14. While shopping at Target this week, I had picked up 8oz (purse) size Curel hand lotion. When I checked out I didn’t realize the lotion had fallen into the bottom of the buggy because it was covered by two larger boxes that I didn’t take out during check out, they were scanned in the buggy. As I was loading my car with my goods, I noticed the tube on the bottom of the buggy. I realized I didn’t pay for it. There was an employee of Target in the parking lot, I went to him and explained to him that I hadn’t paid for the lotion. He said he would take it back in for me. I hope he did, but I know that I attempted to do the right thing.

  15. The last meaningful thing that I did was acknowledging that I am just a commoner and everyone else is a saint and that I have much to learn from their good examples.

  16. “Noble” is far too grandiose a word. I could trot out dramatic protests and campaigns and even a couple of arrests. Definitely noble causes. But what is so much more important are the daily little kindnesses. Tiny gestures which brighten other people’s (and your own) lives. Even a compliment or holding open a door. I think of that old cartoon “Family Circle’ in which little Billy is being called by his mother and makes a grand array of stops and detours before he finally gets home. One’s daily life should be like that ….. spreading smiles as you go along. And it’s so very easy. I work in sales and I am amazed at how many women approach my counter with frowns on their faces. Haven’t they learned that their whole day will be so much better if they are pleasant? Pleasantness is contagious.

What are little things … Wrapping up a purchase really attractively, even if its from your bargain bin, making a map for a tourist who needs directions, putting an extra surprise in the bag just as you hand it over. And always complimenting young children who behave well ….. they beam and their moms love it ,…. and you’ve just taught them a lesson too. They won’t forget that praise.
