If you needed more time, where would you take from?

Topic #323:

If you needed more time, where would you take from? Lets say you had an emergency this week that required you to spend an hour, every day, taking care of something you don’t currently do.  Where would that time come from? What would you drop first?

  1. For me I think that I would take it from the some of the time I sit in front of the TV, during the day time. I do sit at a stand still more than I probably should but for me the is where I could afford to loose the time. I do not have the same amount of time on the weekends as I do during the week. I am busy running around like crazy person on the weekends, I spend a lot of my time at church on the weekends, mostly Sundays however Saturdays I could afford some short amount of time I suppose. During the week I use the computer more because I can sit and watch TV and type on the computer at the same time, usually on the weekends I make this my family time so we spend time out of the house and away from the TV, unless of course the weather is bad then we stay home.

I would take the time I spend on the computer and use it to help others out. I use the computer sometimes as a means of escape and I have to be reminded to get off the computer and mingle with my friends and be out there in the world. I love the computer because I don’t have to deal with annoying people and I hide behind my computer because I don’t want to get upset with people.

  3. I’d have to hire someone! Seriously, I’m eeking out as much as I can in the time I have and that is with not much sleep. But probably, if I had to, I’d never sit down to the computer to get the extra time. It is the only place that I sit down, besides in the car when I’m driving everyone everywhere.

  4. Cheers!
You take it from the items in your life that are of slightly less value than what you have been placing on to this point. Takes discretion, and giving up something!

There really is only NOW, Universally, but do we think that way? I don’t think so!

  5. Mmm, that’s a pretty difficult question. I guess I’d take it from my time for work, not from my R&R. I’d have to take a leave of absence rather than take it from home. As it is, I have little time for the fam.

  6. I’m seriously considering breaking up with the snooze bar on my alarm clock. It’s not adding additional, quality sleep to my cycle. Plus, I’d have an extra two to three hours to get things done every week, even if that’s just time spent having coffee and mentally outlining the rest of the day.

I’m sure my dog would really enjoy a few extra minutes hanging out, as well!

  7. i WOULD JUST ADD MORE THINGS TO DO, SINCE TIME IS THE ILLUSION CREATED BY CYCLES OF ACTION; START – CHANGE – STOP…SO THE MORE THINGS I DO, LIKE DOING THE DISHES, LEARNING A LANGUAGE AND PAINTING A ROOM GIVES ME MORE CYCLES; HENCE MORE TIME.

  8. A friend of mine put it this way: she’d clone herself and spread herself everywhere something she was responsible for needed to get done. That route seems like it might work for me. 🙂

  9. This is an interesting topic, because until recently I was working so much and had to find the time to do everything I needed to do. I gave up sleep, so I was tired most of the time; I gave up exercise, so I gained weight. When I gave up TV, I had recorded a bunch of programs on the DVR hoping to get around to watching them, and then used up all the recording space, so I had to delete them without watching them. I hardly ever watch movies even though I love movies. I have given up a lot of reading, which I also don’t like to have to do. And writing – I have gone months without writing, and I don’t want to give that up either!!

My current employment situation is great in that I don’t have a lot of work outside the workplace like I used to. So I am now sleeping more, exercising more (and losing weight!), and watching TV.

My husband is going to have knee replacement surgery in about 6 weeks, so afterward, especially after he leaves rehab, I will have to spend time taking care of him in ways that I don’t currently. So I will probably give up TV again! I do not want to give up exercise because being healthy is my primary goal right now. Being healthy will help me be able to take care of an emergency. I also need some down time, but could give up a lot of the TV I watch. I’ll just have to listen to the radio more!

Whenever I need more time I often end up taking away from my sleep and any down time options I would have had for each day. I end up having to condense my required activities and the leisure of procrastination is thrown out the window.

I don’t always know where I am able to pull the time from when I need it. But scheduling somehow works out and I can take care of what needs to be done.

  11. Why do I need more time? The time bank gives me 24 hours every day – and of course some of this is needed for sleep, but the rest is reasonably easy to divvy out between necessary and creative tasks. Put the washing up on hold sometimes people! Nicola from homemadekids.wordpress.com

  12. Rearranging life(time) has become an on-going experience. I find the most helpful thing is to have things prioritized, know who & what is involved if a change occurs, and finally for how long will the change need to be. When there are multiple people involved, family commitments, or the impact has a great expense it becomes easier to know where that time will come from. More often than not it is sleep that suffers.
