Explain the difference between socialism, communism and anarachy

Here’s a fun one for you folks – Explain the difference between socialism, communism and anarchy. Yay! Political Science FTW.

And if you don’t like that one, pick your favorite system of government and find out when it was first used.

  2. There all as bad as one another. Capitalism is “I’m alright Jack”,Socialism is
    another way to use people and bilk money as a government, and anarchy is for people who have nothing better to do than cause trouble for no good at all.

  4. If I may? The topic is incorrectly worded; it invites a discussion of “the differences among socialism, communism and anarchy.” (“Between” is for references to only two terms, “among” for more than that.)

  6. Socialism-movement based on socialism: a political movement based on principles of socialism, typically advocating an end to private property and to the exploitation of workers.
    Communism-classless political system: the political theory or system in which all property and wealth is owned in a classless society by all the members of that society.
    If you say anarchy- the absence of any formal system of government in a society.:)

Anarchy is a state of lawlessness and disorder,usually resulting from a failure of government;Socialismis a political and economic theory that resources,industries,and transport should be owned and managed by the state,while Communism refers to the type of society where all property belongs to the community,and social life is based on the principle ‘from each according to his ability,to each according to his needs’.
    All societies broadly conform to the pattern of a pyramid,with (1)a king,dictator or leader at the apex (surrounded by government staff and aids),(2),a middle group of persons of lesser standing,and (3)a lower group at the base.The pyramid pattern perpetuates itself,and you will see this structure in a modern State,Government Department,factory and office.The essence of social class is the way a man is treated by his fellows(and,reciprocally,how he treats them).
    Anarchy and Socialism are common features in our present world,but for communism,i believe no such society yet exists!

  14. Usually anarchism is criticized by capitalism and communism as well. Anarchism seems to rank on the bottom position of morality. But it isn’t. Kind of dictatorship was supported by systems of communism as well as capitalism. Thoreau (the only North American philosopher) would maybe understand the positive energy of anarchism: as actually in the occupy Wall St. movement …

  16. Socialism is simply where people combine efforts to achieve or obtain as a group. Socialism as a form of government usually tries to achieve this by taking money from everyone, whether they agree or not, and puts it toward whatever the people in charge decide.

    Communism also has it’s own split of meaning. Karl Marx communism was a mans prediction that the everyday working people would one day wake up and realize that they were being taken advantage of by the business owners, banks, and government. They would then have a revolution where they would remove the people of power and share the proceeds of their respective businesses evenly together rather than one person making more than everyone else while keeping their workers trapped in meagerly earning jobs. This was a perspective generated out of the industrial revolution which hugely exploited the working class of people. The working class was absolutely the majority.

    The other type of communism is where people called their totalitarianism government communism. I don’t think that it should even be called communism because it is nothing resembling the original idea. Stalin and all of those people of the Russian (other countries did it to) ruling class forced this altered “idea” of communism onto their people. So it was nothing like it should have been. The people didn’t choose to liberate themselves and no one should have been “in charge”. So it was really the opposite of what it was supposed to be.

    Anarchy means no government. i.e. no one is telling people what to do. I think this mostly England’s baby. Meaning I think Anarchy came about because people got fed up of their government butting their nose into everyone’s business all the time and so some people have responded to this oppression with anarchy. Also their is a sense that people of the lower class should behave and not disrupt or inconvenience people of the upper class. This I believe stems from feudalism. The United States was supposed to be the most extreme form of working government that was based in anarchist ideals, the US rebelled against England resulting in the US’ creation. Before the founding fathers came along it was the usual run of business that people of magical birthright were in charge and the meaning of your existence was to serve the will of them rather than live one’s life as one saw fit, there are always exceptions.

    So the idea was that people could actually live and enjoy their lives where the government was merely their to serve the people only when it was absolutely needed and under no circumstance would impede or infringe upon the peoples right to do so. Thanks to Tommy Jefferson the world got a taste of anarchy for a little bit, and now you have OWS because the US has come around to a less than free state where you are constantly being told, or otherwise influenced, how to live and most importantly spend your money. So the OWS people want their freedom to do what they want with their lives again. That’s why it’s a big deal.

    And yes it is worse in other countries but the US isn’t other countries. It is supposed to be the best and nothing less.

  17. There is hardly a difference between them. Communism is usually the end result of socialism. They basically both want equal ownership (what is yours is mine and what is mine is yours–like in China). But they still have a government who, kind of, “oversees” this equalization (and usually ends up controlling it to the point where the citizens are equally extremely poor). Whereas anarchism has absolutely no government–and no unity, really. Everyone is on the same level.
