Remember something important you’ve lost

Topic #247:

It’s a tricky day for a topic. For many people around the world this is a complicated, if not emotional, anniversary.

To keep things simple and open to your own point of view, please remember something important you’ve lost that you want to remember and think about. And write about what you chose and why.

  1. After 911 I lost my faith in America’s ability to keep us safe from all the
destructiveness from other Countries. I wan’t to remember it, lest I forget that the only safe place is in the arms of God.

  2. when I was about 12 years old- My cousin Gary went to nam….I lost him to 3 bullets in the back- it was real hard for me to handle-I idolized him (he WAS MY hero). for years I talked like he was still alive and the things he would do for me….did find out till I was older- he was saving his captain & gave his life instead- that was hard on me too- some of it was not being able to see him after he had been killed (closed casket) and I was not able to go. but came to accet it & remember him like my Bestest friend!, I watch Vietnam movies now and it easier for me- I’m older and can understand more—but still miss him.

  3. Something important… 9/11/2001 was a significant day because of unfathomable loss for a Nation.4/14/2000 was as significant for the loss of my life partner and husband of 31 years. We all mourn loss in our lives if we live long enough. How we deal with it is another story altogether.

  4. When I was young and living in the YWCA I had a dear friend called Diane Sleiman from the Lebanon. She was older than I and being young and stupid my new friend at the time seemed more important.Diane was married and had come to England for tests and was in hospital for a few days and I never visited. I am old now and regret every day that I did not visit and could see how hurt she was.I so would love to find her again I think she lived in Kuwait with her husband but have no idea where she is or if she is alive. She taught me how to make goat cheese through our YWCA pillow cases and brought a big branch of dates in a suitcase for me. I would pick them off when I felt hungry. She was of the Greek Orthadox faith.I miss her every day.CandleHolders

  6. My grandfather and my cousin Lamont. Although, they died 11 years apart it still feels like I lost them yesterday. They are the ones that continue to motivate me when I am sad. I take out the time to visit home and visit my grandmother which brings back so many memories. When I visit my grandmother’s home I just sit in their room and think of all the good times. I think of how it was when they both were living. I miss them both so much yet I always feel them all around me. It gives me peace. Peace to everyone out there that is currently suffering or have suffered a lost of something, someone, etc.

I’ve lost my engagement ring while my bus travel.I can’t forget this incident in my life..that time my husband went abroad. My heart was filled with fear, worry and tears.I was very upset that day.I informed this to my husband .He was shocked little bit but he consoled me with positive words..slowly i got rid of my depression.I lost my chain and a pair of ear rings too in the same journey..those were made of gold..of course those were very precious but my engagement ring was more precious than anyother rings..the one who got my valuables was a lucky person…:-(
at the mean time my husband bought a diamond to make me happy..:-) I didn’t know should i have felt lucky or unlucky for that momemt??

  8. My grandmother, great aunt and uncle. Those three people meant holidays and family gatherings filled with laughter, conversation and great food, and their absence has meant sterile holidays without games, laughter or fun conversation. Try as I might, I haven’t yet duplicated it… but I will!
