Assemble your dream dinner guest list. Think of all the famous, or infamous, people living or dead, and pick 6 to share a fine meal with. Who do you pick? Why? What do you expect to happen?

  1. Dustin Hoffman, Dean Martin, Winona Ryder, Marilyn Monroe, Danny Kaye and Doris Day.

It would be so fun! and there’s balance between more serious and more funny people, so bit of everything. Marilyn, Danny and Dean are dead since long ago, but here they would be in their best young period of life, when they were around 25-30. I would sit between Marilyn and Danny.

    1. Marvellous proposal, but I wouild suggest for both Dean Martin and Dustin Hoffman to be rather at their more mature days, thus bringing even more delight to the evening’s conversation.

  2. That’s a tough one. What kind of list to choose? Movie stars, rock stars, great thinkers, spiritual leaders? People I idolize, people I think it would be cool to hang out with, people who would spark stimulating conversation? I think I would have to come up with three or four different lists. And the ones I think would be the coolest might turn out to be duds.

  3. My dream table breaks the ‘six’ rule but I’d love to have my parents (both deceased) along with the spouse and my kids. My oldest son was four when my dad died. The opportunity to have them all meet would be awesome!

  4. In no particular order:
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Albert Einstein, Ian Flemming, Clive Staples Lewis, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, and My Wife
The reasoning: 4 of my favorite authors and someone I admire all sitting at a dinner table with me and my wife. It wouldn’t be right to have such an opportunity to be with any such group of people without sharing it with my wife. I can’t imagine how the evening would go, but I bet it would be interesting.
Of course, it was difficult to just pick six. If I were to expand it out a few (or if any of the previous said they couldn’t come, I would also pick C. J. Bradford, M. C. Escher, and Masaharu Morimoto. Two of my favorite artists, and the only Iron Chef to be a regular on both versions of the show.

    1. Awesome list, really, but knowing Bono’s respect for thinkers and the like, I would feel he would be the only one not saying a word. He would spend the evening listening carefully to what others would say, as many would in such company as yiu suggest so wouldn’t this be a lost opportunity for someone else to take his place, and really engage in congenial conversation, whilst still being able to listen, at times? Just a thought

  6. Dinner for six, at my home, my wife and I entertain four distinguished guests. Jesus Christ, obviously, shall preside at one end of the small rectangular table. To his right, the evening’s second most relevant guest, Mother Teresa. To her right, Albert Enstein. Seated across Jesus Christ, at the other end of the table, my wife . To my wife’s right, Elvis Presley. To Elvis’ right, yours truly.
