When Blogrolls Evolve into Friendships and Comments Morph into Hugs

Clearly, community comes in many forms. But blogging is beginning to build new connections for me—not only virtual ones—but flesh-and-blood bonds, as well—first with Emily, and now with Lisa and her family.

It would seem, much to my delight, that writers from my blogroll are evolving into friends, and comments are morphing into hugs.

Who wouldn’t want that to happen?

    1. This is absolutely true. I started blogging when I lived in Vietnam and got more serious about it when I was living in Haiti–as a way to stay connected to folks at home in the US–but now it has literally opened up the world. Thanks so much for reading my post!

It’s amazing to see how many folks are committed to blogging or just simply reading a blog post,It’s awesome,At first when i started i was easily discouraged especially when my blogs were often seen as not creative enough,But as time progresses,I learnt a very valuable lesson,Stick at it and eventually you would be able to master the art of writing,Thank you Erica.

    One of the joys of being a WordPress blogger is the international friendships I have formed. I follow about a dozen photographers, and several of them subscribe to my humorous Mon.-Fri. photoblog. We leave comments and “likes” on each others’ posts, and I often see several familiar gravatars when I read the replies to the posts I follow.

    Many of us are on a first-name basis with each other. I’m not much for any other kind of social networking, but I cherish these relationships with other photobloggers. –J.A. Robinson

  17. I’ve experienced this evolution first hand. I feel a particularly warm friendship with one blogger pal, in fact, we worry about each other when there is a lag in posts and/or comments. We keep in touch by email! It is such an unexpected BONUS of the blogosphere! Loving it …

  20. Stories like this we should celebrate. It shows how as humans, we are capable of reaching out, to open our hearts for possible friendships. A lot of those I have in my blogroll I consider as friends. And it feels like I know them for a long , long time. Wouldn’t it be great to meet one in person someday? I’m happy for you. Your story serves as an inspiration to me.
