What one feature do you wish WordPress.com had?

Topic #154:

Ok. This is one is a bit of a cheat, as it’s kinda, sorta, my job to find ways to make WordPress.com better. But since you’ve been using WordPress all these many weeks, to make all those fine posts, every day (or week) even when you didn’t really want to, why not write a post about either: a) Your feature wishlist (what do you wish WordPress.com did?) or b) Your top complaints, especially as it regards being a frequent blogger (which all of you are).

  1. I really can’t complain about WordPress. You’re doing a great job, especially since it’s free. I’m sure whatever complaint I had someone mentioned. Love you guys!

  2. make it easier to add buttons and widgets.
I asked a question in the forums the other day about widgets and no one responded

More choice of fonts, perhaps letting you switch within a post like you can in a Word document.

  3. 1) Ability to change font easily through something like a dropdown menu, not having to know CSS, HTML, etc.
    2) Add a confirmation message after you hit Publish on a post, cause sometimes I click by mistake and don’t want others to read it yet.
    3) Make me able to delete my own comments.

  4. I wish WP would display badges instead of links to things I’m part of – Like British Mummy Bloggers or Tots 100. When HTML is entered as text widget – It displays link instead! Not sure how to change this

  5. I own a photo blog among others and i think a few image editing options like adding a copyright water mark in bulk would be a good option.

  6. I’m not sure about the web site itself but I do know that I really wish the WordPress app could have its Local Draft option back. When I write something on that I almost NEVER want to publish it straight away. I want to save it to store the post and I’m happy to store it either locally or on the website (if I’m on line, not on an underground train etc) but I definitely want an option to save the post as draft not just publish it.

    1. You can still save drafts in your blog online…i do it all the time for mine! you will find the save drafts button just above the panel that is over the publish button

  7. wordpress.com is doing a very good job for bloggers and readers.Blog page can be made attractive and more fascinating at will this option should be simplified.
I think that circulation of blog is low than we hope.A list of each day shown blogs should be there to select and read quickly the blogs.Very long blogs should be kept in separate
list. to save time and energy of readers.

  8. I wish that it had the ability to allow us to have ads on our blogs, not just disable the WordPress blogs. Since my site has been getting more traffic lately it’s the reason I left for self-hosting. If WP allowed ads I would have stayed.

  9. It should be possible to blog without date – like in the self-hosted versions.
    (I know it was a topic idea – but I have to answer – sorry 😉 )

  10. I don’t know if my wish is do-able at all … perhaps just in my dream world, but here goes:

Now that they can comment using their FB/Twitter accounts … wouldn’t it be cool if the comments showed up on the post in FB too?! And the other way around.

I have my blog set to post to Facebook [and Twitter], when I post. For some reason, that’s totally beyond me, many people see my link in FB, they go to the blog and read, then they GO BACK to Facebook to comment. These comments of course never show up in the blog.

This is probably too far out, I don’t write code so I wouldn’t be able to say if it’s at all possible. In WP.org there are plugins for this but I don’t know that they function very well..

  11. Well, WP is kinda GREAT with all its flexibility etc n that hardly gives any scope to write a whole post for anything more 🙂 but one thing would help a lot if photos once uploaded to the media library could be attached to many diff posts !! Thanks !

No meu blog, e tudo resumido.
Sinceramente estou bem desanimada, as letras ficaram miudas demais, revejam tudo isso por favor!
    obrigada Mina!

  13. WordPress is so superior already (in particular to Blogger, where I manage of couple of blogs…not my choice of platform.) I think I’ve found ways to do almost everything I’ve ever needed. Bravo!

  14. Oh, and another thing that isn’t really a feature, but since I’ve already done some griping… stop telling me in comment form when I’ve linked to my own blog. I’m well aware that I linked to my own blog since I’m the one doing the linking. I link to other posts on my blog a lot and it’s damn annoying to have to delete a thousand comments from myself telling me that I’ve linked to such and such. Is there a way to disable this? If there is, I haven’t found it yet.

  15. I wish we had an option to change the font size (make them bigger, specifically.)

Some themes have smalls fonts and I don’t want to purchase CSS upgrade.

  16. I want to be able to use Google Analytics. It’s the one ting about Blogger that I miss. I know about Flag Counter, but that’s not what I want. My blog isn’t big enough to be international, but I do want to be able to see where my hits are coming from. Google Analytics was great for that, plus it wouldn’t display the information ON your blog page.

  17. Like so many, I think WordPress is a marvel, and my thanks go to all concerned.
Top of my Wish List: I run two blogs, and sometimes I’d like to be able to publish something on one that I’ve already published on the other.
Well, they’re like estranged siblings — no way one can communicate with the other unless i can copy and paste (with a complicated post with lots of pictures tough to do), or just bite the bullet and redo it.

  19. I wish wordpress had a design studio which would allow you to design your webpage with drag and drop. You could be able to choose many different layouts and offer all kinds of ahref link options and lots of button options. For example, radio buttons and other types of buttons different sizes and shapes and colors.

  20. How about a widget like the Google Friend Connect ? We could have a WordPress Friend Connect version so we can connect with blog friends and have their shiny gravatars on our blogs for easy access? 🙂

  21. I’m not going to write a post on my blog about this, but I appreciate you asking what users would like to see and I’d be happy to give my opinion. I would LOVE it if draft posts could be put into different folders within drafts. That way if you had a lot of things in the pipeline that you were working on, you could divide them up into folders by topic/whatever and be able to find them easier.
