  1. Tough one. It was either Astronomy, English, or Math. They were all fun. But looking back now, I’m going with English. It’s the one I use more than anything else in daily life for writing and speaking.

  2. My favourite class when at college was The Principles of English Law. I found this a really fantastic subject mainly because it is something which is alive and pertinent to what is going on today. Every day in newspapers you can see examples of the principles put into action.
The other reason why I enjoyed it was because it was a class for teenage students and I was in my late forties , the only mature student in the class. It was great to watch the professor grab the kids by the crook of his walking stick when they did not behave.
I have never done anything with the qualifications that I obtained and that has not been a problem. I enjoyed what I was doing for my own benefit and to me it was a challenge

  3. The first class in my film minor was a class where every Monday we would go to my college’s theatre and screen different movies (usually pre-releases). It was like going to the movies once a week, for free! Plus, since we were in Malibu (Pepperdine University) we always had directors/writers/actors come as guest speakers.

  5. I liked getting into the Business Law class- it was full of discussions and makes me feel witty when I get myself to answer some legal blahs- hahaha. I also liked Econometrics because it was one of THE subjects we wanted to learn as part of the Economics degree.

  10. “Seminar for Freshman” We listened to an audio tape from a man I can’t remember his name, but he gave a wonderful piece of advice that I have never forgotten. I was sad about a boyfriend and depressed. This man said something like, “You think one person is the one, the only one for you. But think about it. Out of 1,000 people, any 1,000, there has got to be many that could be ‘the one.’ ” And he went on using logic to clarify this. It made sense. And I recovered rapidly. Over the next 40 years, this advice has never left me to my great benefit. (Also, I liked all my art classes, that was my major and I also loved any English classes and history. I just like school.) — desha

  12. Essay. 139 words. Not a true story.
    MY FIRST WORDS
“It’s the tone that matters,” my Dad used to answer when Mom asked why he was always reading to me from a motor magazine. I don’t remember anything of this, of course, since I was just a baby, but I can vividly picture him reading with his softest daddy voice: “Suppose that battery’s voltage is 12.60 volts…
