  3. My first thought, absolutely not. Living in the northeast with five foot mounds of snow everywhere, access to the Internet and social media tools tamps down the cabin fever woes.

    But that’s not the only reason. Its being a part of the universe in real time.

    1. It seems difficult to live without the internet service because of the nature of the life style we have today.Not to lag behind in terms of accessing information. However, if the world is at the same level of developments,not having the internet serve,there will come an alternative to access information.Therefore the answer will be yes,it is possible.However ,if only a certain region of the world is without the service that particular region will be affected.

  6. Absolutely and actually would survive fine. I own and run a computer company and think that sometimes technology gets in the way of true emotion feeling and meaning, so could I live without the internet sure, Life would be slower and less productive but we managed for how many years before it was widely used?

  7. Of course I would live without the internet, I have for most of my life, but it would be a major adjustment these days. I can live without a lot of things, doesn’t mean I would want to give up such a wonderful technology.

  10. It would be difficult to live without the internet. The Post Office would be overwhelmed with services and would have to beef up their production of same. Traffic on telephone and fax lines would probably crash AT&T.

    I lived many years without the internet being of a certain age. Would I go back? If need be, yes. The internet is a convenience tool. Social networking is a pain in the tutu and the glorification of Mark Zuherberg is disgusting.

  13. Whenever I go camping, the urge to check my e-mail builds until we finally arrive back home, and then it’s the first thing I do. But I’m sure that I could adjust to an Internet-less existence–there are worse things.

    1. You’re right – I could adjust to an existence without the internet – as long as we all gave it up equally!

      But if we did give it up – nobody would see the wonderful artwork you have on your blog page! That would be a total loss!

  14. Since the advent of the internet I have worked, played, and kept up with family and friends. I doubt that I could live without the internet for a week. It is amazing how the internet has woven it’s way into our everyday life in such a short time.

  16. Right now I could not live without the internet due to I am not only a full-time online student, I am also a truck driver. I have to turn in my paperwork either via fax or email for my work.

    If it wasn’t for my work and being a full-time student, I could definitely live without the internet.

    1. There’s no rule that says you can only write one post a day. Go ahead and write it now, if nothing else, @ least it will give you one day head start. That way, if you miss a day in the future, you’ll still be caught up.

  22. Oh I could live. But then I’d have to come up with a week/month’s work of drafts and set them to auto publish each day in order to keep up with the Post-A-Day challenge!

    This’ll be a great topic to write about!

  24. Unfortunately I rely on the Internot for my work, web-design multi media and the majority of my intermediate work also relies heavily on it too, after so long you become accustomed to it and dependency becomes its own curse, almost like an addiction.

    The games, hobbies, blogging and other outlets have taken over the other social activities many of us remember and before we know it we’ll all be hooked up Matrix stylee to the damned thing…

  26. WOW! This is a great topic for me to thinking upon and write about. Because I really would rather live without it but… due to business and being able to stay more connected to my children in another state I dont see that I could. As so many people use the internet now for staying ocnnected looking for work and their business. I think I may work on this one for my blog!

  27. No Internet? Unfortunately, the term “Internet” has become to mean solely the WWW. However, the other services it provides from email, ftp, streaming media, video and normal telephone calls are all tied into this. The recent events in the middle east, Egypt particularly, highlight what happens when any one government has a “internet kill switch”. It won’t just be Facebook and your blog which you won’t be able to access once the switch is thrown on the back of a false flag cyber attack. V

  28. The internet has truly changed society and made it a necessity. It is a way of life. It’s almost like asking if we could live without indoor plumbing, heating, electricity. Can it be done for a day? Absolutely. A week? Sure, but maybe if everyone was off-line and not just me. Great topic.

    1. It’s like when the power goes out. The first day is fine and fun. The second day we are flipping light switches and trying to use the stove. By day three we are fuming because of all the work we ‘could’ get done if we could just get online! I agree, the internet has become a necessity in my world and that’s totally OK!

I couldn’t..the funny thing is that I was one of those in high school (84-88) that was against computers…I didn’t even take typing like everybody else….I didn’t think they would take off or be the great things that they are today. Guess I was wrong..lol I love it now & can’t see ever being without it!
