August in Blogging U: Blogging 101
Our popular get-started course, Blogging 101, returns in August! Learn more and register.
Have you just started blogging (welcome!), or are you looking to breathe new life into a blogging habit that’s fallen by the wayside? Blogging U. is a great way to get on track, with bite-size assignments, a supportive community, and staff to support you. This August, we’re offering Blogging 101— and registration is now open!
Blogging 101: Zero to Hero — August 3 – 21
Blogging 101 is three weeks of bite-size blogging assignments that take you from “Blog?” to “Blog!” Every weekday, you’ll get a new assignment to help you publish a post, customize your blog, or engage with the community.
You’ll walk away with a stronger focus for your blog, several published posts and a handful of drafts, a theme that reflects your personality, a small (but growing!) audience, a grasp of blogging etiquette — and a bunch of new friends.
I have fallen in love with blogging all over again. It’s been wonderful. I am learning so much, and my blog is looking better than ever.
Elle, The Adventures of a Samurai, a Seanchai, and 4 Fairy Ninja
How do Blogging U. courses work?
Blogging U. courses exist for one reason: to help you meet your own blogging and writing goals.
- Courses are free, flexible, and open to all.
- You’ll get a new task to complete each day, along with our best advice and favorite resources. Do them on your own time, and interpret them however makes sense for your specific blog and personal goals — we’re not grading you, we’re not checking to make sure you complete every task, and there’s no “wrong” way to use the resources we give you.
- We’ll send you a new assignment via email each weekday at midnight GMT. Weekends are free.
- Each course will have a private community site, the Commons, for chatting, connecting, and seeking feedback and support. Daily Post staff and Happiness Engineers will be on hand to answer your questions and offer guidance and resources.
Registration is now closed. To see what’s coming up in September, visit the Blogging U home page.
I took Blogging 101 earlier this year and learned a lot, and “met” a whole bunch of blogger friends.

Sounds like a great way to get into the habit again. However, I am traveling from August 5 to 11. Should I sign up anyway and then try and catch up when I get back?

I would like to subscribe, but I am going on holiday from the 6th to the 16th of August, so I won’t be able to follow the course every day. But I would like to know whether courses run only in summer or all other the year ?

They run all year long, and Blogging 101 is the one we offer most frequently; it will re-run in September.

FYI: If you want to take the September course, you need to register specifically for that course — registration for September will open later near the end August.

So will this help me with the technical aspects of blogging? How to get pictures to work? formats, SEO, etc..
LikeLiked by 1 person
We’ll point you to resources that lay out the step-by-step for technical issues, and be there to answer questions/offer more guidance. The assignments themselves are broader and designed to help you figure out what you want for your blog and how you want it to look, begin publishing, and begin building an audience.

Michelle,
I enrolled for Blogging 101 starting Monday, but I’m really really new at this (computer literacy included).
Yet I am very interested in getting out there , writing on my blog, sharing life experiences (I’m 52 years young).
My question for you is : I registered for Blogging 101 with “celiacathlete” because that is the blog I have, but it never started and it does not mean anything to me now (that was supposed to be written by me and my eldest son , he is the athlete). Should I and can I change its name for Blogging 101 ?
Couldn’t find any similar question in the forum, that is why I’m sending the e-mail to you. I’m sorry if that is inappropriate.
Looking forward to Monday and to start flying with WordPress (I just love that as I worked in the airline industry, and my husband flew lightweight planes)
Isabel (in Portugal) Thank you

We deal with blog titles in the first week, so you can decide if you’d like to change it or not. In general, if the title no longer means anything to you and doesn’t apply to what you want to write about now, I’d probably change it, Blogging 101 or no Blogging 101.

I’m really hoping this will help me get a blog started at last! I’ve been wanting to do this for over 10 years, but the toughest thing for me was finding a specific direction to take a blog so I can find a target audience, and really find confidence in expressing myself out there.
