New Theme: Cerauno
Bring your site into the spotlight with Cerauno, a free magazine theme.
It’s a beautiful day for a new theme! Today, I’m happy to present a free magazine theme, Cerauno.
Cerauno
Cerauno is a polished, user-friendly theme designed by Mel Choyce.
In Mel’s words:
I designed Cerauno with subject bloggers in mind, like food, fashion, or travel bloggers. I wanted to make a theme for someone who’s been blogging for a little while, but wants to boost their traffic and bring their site into the spotlight with a clean and authoritative design. I’m so excited to see it launch!
With plenty of options to tempt and tantalize, Cerauno is sure to please. Add secondary content in up to five widget areas, brand your content with a Site Logo or Custom Header, include links to your favorite social networks, and add Featured Images to grab your readers’ attention.
Cerauno is also responsive, stretching or shrinking to accommodate any screen size.
Check out Cerauno on the Theme Showcase, or activate it on your site from Appearance → Themes!

I chose this theme a few minutes ago without realizing that it’s new! I was thinking to myself that this theme is gorgeous and I wondered why I hadn’t seen it before haha 🙂

Cerauno is a fresh and clean responsive magazine style theme with many useful features. As the majority of my visitors do not appear to be either mobile or tablet users, I’m glad to see that the design is not one with the menu or sidebars hidden behind links that my desktop visitors may not twig to using.

Question – what is the recommended size for featured images in posts?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Good question! The theme will crop your featured images to 900px by 300px for the blog/archives, and 1400px by 400px for single posts/pages. I hope this helps. 🙂

I love this theme but when I tried it with a header image it seems to add a mask so you only see the header as a % tint. It would even better if you had the option to turn this off as you do on eg Edin!

Thanks for the suggestion! We’ll consider that in a future enhancement. 🙂

Caroline, thank you for the suggestion, I will consider the format in the future.

I wish the theme supported Czech special characters! I write in English and Czech and unfortunately Czech posts would look strange… Maybe in future? 🙂

Is this for wp.com users only. Or can I use it for my wp.org also?
Reading the comment about image and your answer about how it automatically crop the image make me want to try it.

You can download Cerauno for WordPress.org directly from the showcase page. Look for “Download Cerauno for your self-hosted WordPress site.” in the right column.

Hello Miss Caroline! I am one of the thousands of users that have started using Cerauno, and I have to say, it has been AMAZING! Before Cerauno, I have tried countless of times to find the perfect theme for my content and blog and have failed. This one is great because it allows the user to add a lot of widgets, sidebars etc. without it looking cluttered and disorganized! It is also quite appealing visually, and enables people to use Logos as sit titles to personalize the blog! Thank you! 😀

Hi CM. Nice theme. On the demo page there’s a typo I believe: “Wide Angle Lense” (the ‘e’ at the end of ‘Lens’?).
… unless it’s something ‘arty’ of course 🙂

Very nice, very simple!

It is excellent, I think. It would be even better if one small column (widget/side bar) is on the left hand side of posts content. Now these both are on the right. What do you think?

I would love to use this theme! I like it a lot 🙂 However, I tried to apply it to my site and it does not show Danish letters æ, ø and å very nicely, so I had to change it again 😦

Usually this means we need translations for your language. There are a couple strings that are designed to allow translators to disable fonts in certain languages if not supported. Here are those two fields for Cerauno in Danish:
https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/themes/cerauno/da/default?filters%5Boriginal_id%5D=156502
https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/themes/cerauno/da/default?filters%5Boriginal_id%5D=156501
It looks like we also need to get the Danish translation above 85% before it will take effect, so please consider helping us fill in the gaps!

Thanks!
