Early Theme Adopters: Sorbet

We release beautiful new themes every week. In our Early Theme Adopters series, we focus on bloggers who are using the most recent additions to our Theme Showcase. Today, let’s visit some of the blogs that are already using Sorbet, a vibrant, inviting theme.

In the few weeks since its arrival, Sorbet has already become a favorite among personal bloggers (and many others). Its upbeat, straightforward design shrewdly blends simplicity with a full array of great features.

Sorbet offers sharing buttons and widget areas discreetly tucked into the header, splashy featured images, and beautiful, colorful icons for sticky posts and different post formats. Like all our newest themes, it looks great on devices and screens of all sizes, thanks to its responsive design.

Here’s a selection of  bloggers who are already putting Sorbet to great use.

Alicia, who uses her aptly named blog to chronicle her adventures in food and travel, embraced Sorbet‘s colorful palette. The theme’s vibrancy fits perfectly with her photos and other content. She makes great use of post formats (like the photo format in the screenshot above), as well as of the header, where she’s added social sharing buttons and a colorful header image for an extra customized touch.

Many of you love the clean simplicity of tumblelog themes, which allow bloggers to present an uninterrupted stream of content. Photographer Andrew Vokes has pared down Sorbet to make it the ideal space for his 365 project, in which he posts a photo (with related commentary) every day. Using the theme’s out-of-the-box design to great effect, he created a streamlined, one-column look by not adding any sidebar widgets beyond a subscription button.

The Wrong Side of Sane

Saskia, the young writer behind The Wrong Side of Sane, uses Sorbet for her personal blog. With a few subtle touches — a custom header image with a colorful rendition of her site title, a Text Widget with her own photo — she makes the theme her own. Sorbet‘s versatile header invites readers to share Saskia’s posts on social media, while the text itself is clear and highly readable thanks to the theme’s clean design.

Are wordpress blogs not hosted on wordpress.com/org eligible to be mentioned in the “Early theme adopters” section?

  9. aworriedstudent

Being new to WordPress, it can be difficult choosing which theme to select and I tried out a few before settling on Sorbet because of its clear, clean and bright appearance 🙂

This theme is definitely very cool, and we thought about switching to it for a while- the image icon/text icon specification was not ideal though. Overall the fun spring colors really let a blog with this theme stand out!

Sorbet is a fabulous design, elegant, easy to navigate, “an Armani,” as one of our Twitter followers described it. 🙂
