A experiência é visual.

I was working on Windows today, and desperately needed to view an OpenOffice.org document. Trouble was, I didn't have OpenOffice.org installed on Windows. I had created the document in question on Ubuntu, which bundles OpenOffice.org by default. Since I had Microsoft Word on my Windows system, all that I needed to view the nasty boy was a media converter. I quickly googled the phrase: converting .odt to .doc on my little google-box in firefox. A few links later, I found myself at this baby's doorstep.

Media-Convert is a free, web-based media conversion tool that converts the files of your choice into the files of your dreams. At first glance, this site seems to drive you away from itself. It screams spam in a thunderous voice. I don't kid around when I say that half of this amazing site's home page is nothing but very visible ads, and that half is the half that fills the browser window. I found myself scrolling down for more; and there was much more than just more.

Here's a look at the media-convert.com homepage:

A screenshot of the media-convert.com homepage

However, when I looked at the list of formats this tool supported, I was delighted beyond limits. Here are some formats that they are willing to rip apart and join into new ones for you:

Documents, text: Raw text, HTML, XHTML, Microsoft Word, RTF, PDF, PS, Open Office, Star Writer, Pocket Word, Word Perfect
ID3 (v1 and v2) Tag preservation for MP3, OGG, AAC, WMA and MPC files.

Music, monophonic & polyphonic ringtones: MIDI, MIDI-0, SP-MIDI, CMX, MMF, MOTOROLA, SAGEM, EMELODY, IMELODY, EMS, RTTTL/RTX, NOKIA, NOKIA-TXT.

Formats used on most common cellular phones like Alcatel, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Nokia, Siemens, Nec, Panasonic, Sagem, Sharp, Sony, Trium, Sony-Ericsson, LG, Motorola.

Did you see that list? The online software detects the file type that you want to covert and also shows recommendations for the destination formats. It even managed to detect my Pocket Tanks game's .it music file and suggest a conversion to mp3.

Converting a file involves uploading a file from your local storage on to their server; selecting a source format (which is detected automatically in most cases), and then selecting a destination format. The converted file is available for download from the server once the process has ended.

No wonder they have so many ads. It must be a really popular site. Keep the ads rolling, boys! We don't want our favorite file-converter to stop converting!

After completing the .odt to .doc file conversion, I was really happy to have come across this little web-wonder. I suggest that you try it, too.

My name is Frank and I am the ADMIN of the AffiliateMarketing101 Blog.
I have started the Affiliatem

My name is Frank and I am the ADMIN of the AffiliateMarketing101 Blog.

I have started the Affiliatemarketing101 blog, also referred to as AM101, because there are hundreds even thousands of people who are involved in Affiliate Marketing.

The AM101 blog has been started to help those people who want their own "Home-Based" business and have chosen to start as Affiliate Marketers.

So what is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is a method of promoting a web based business in which an affiliate, you, are paid for every visitor, subscriber, customer and/or sale provided through your efforts.

It's a modern variation of paying a "Finders Fee" for the introduction of new clients to a business.

Compensation may be made based on a certain value for each visitor, (Pay-Per-Click), each registrant, (Pay-Per-Lead), or commission for each customer sale, (Pay-Per-Sale), or any combination there of.

Of course you'll need to find a good affiliate program with a company that sells products you are interested in. I'll teach you how to do this is a later post.

Once you find an affiliate program you'll need to build a website where you can sell your affiliate products, this subject will also be covered in a later post.

All of this may seem overwhelming right now.

Once you get started and progress through each step, you'll see it's pretty simple if you just take these processes as steps and do them one at a time.

Once you have found your affiliate program I'll teach you how to pick the products and services you'll promote.

Like I said, this can seem overwhelming, but I'll hold your hand and help you along the way, "Step-By-Step", it will all come together.

So, for now let's sit down and make a list of things you feel passionate about.

Are you an automobile buff, do you like training animals, hunting, fishing, reading, sailing, camping, cooking, entertaining, computers, swimming, the list of topics is endless.

The programs and services available cover every possible thing you can imagine.

Remember, choose something you are passionate about, an activity or topic you could be considered an expert at. You want to convince your future customers that you know everything about the product or service you are trying to sell.

Would you buy something from someone who can't answer your questions or a person who had all the answers?

Don't get lost here, remember, if you aren't an expert at anything you can still be an affiliate and become very knowledgeable. There are hundreds of places where you can research the products you want to sell. More about this later.

Well, let's get started making that list of things you want to sell as an affiliate.

Remember, try to choose products and services that you are familiar with. You need to convince customers that your products and services are the BEST and they should buy yours and not the others that are available.

We will talk about finding a company to work with in or next post...

TO OUR SUCCESS,

The Trend of Online School Management Software

Our school bought into the trend two years ago and began the software to use both “Edline

Our school bought into the trend two years ago and began the software to use both "Edline" and "Gradequick" in combination with each other. Edline allowed our school to build a linking website to our home page that included a class schedule and forms for parents and staff. It also allowed teachers to build their own class websites and place updated quiz, test and project dates on a calendar for parent access. It provided students and parents with a code and password so that they could receive updated information and view current grades. Gradequick was a separate software program that connected to Edline and was used to upload grades into a web-based service that sent the grades to Edline for viewing. Edline also allowed for a combined test, quiz and project calendar for the entire secondary staff. In this way, we could control the number of major tests or projects students would be taking on a given day.

However, Edline was not without its flaws. It was not a comprehensive system. It required a separate grading program. It didn't have interesting features like lesson plan uploading or behavior reporting for online archive files. It didn't give administration access to individual student schedules.

So, after some consideration, our school switched to "Renweb," which is a more complete school management software. They are currently attempting to make their program web-based this year instead of software-based, but it includes a variety of functions including lesson plans for archive, uploading of PDF files for parents to download, academic and behavior documentation and medical histories. It allows the schedules of students to be posted and for teachers to post grades using the same software system. Attendance can also be taken on the system.

So here is my question: It seems to me that school management software is now the ongoing trend. However, which system is the best to use? Which system is comprehensive, yet affordable? Which system has excellent customer service and less "kinks"?

I would like to invite my readers to comment on the systems their public or private schools use and rate the following areas on a scale of 1-10: affordability, user friendly, functions, customer service, and time-saving. Basically, give me the name of your software, the main website from the software company and then rate the following areas. Provide a brief comment with your rating.

I blogged about Jott in May. This is a free service (how do they do that?) that is so feature rich, I've hardly scratched the surface. A brief refresher, Jott is a great way to remind yourself and others of upcoming appointments, birthdays, family obligations--you name it. Get yourself set up on-line with your preferences, set up groups to notify co-workers, family or friends of happenings. A feature I utilize is to set up a reminder for something that happens out in the future and I tell Jott to notify me the day of my appointment. Less chance of forgetting that way!

But today, we're going to talk about the new iPhone app Jott developed. With the release of the new iPhone and the subsequent deluge of third party apps, this one caught my eye as being useful for a client of mine. I watched the short video and was convinced. Download and install the app from iTunes. To use, simply tap on-screen anywhere and begin to speak. Tap again when you're finished (think there's a 30 second limit). Then your reminder/message is sent to the clouds to be transcribed into text then back on your iPhone and in your web Jott account.

You can organize, prioritize and categorize your Jotts, i.e. business, personal, etc. When you complete a task, swipe it with your finger and a line goes through it and you've marked it off your list! For those of us who derive fulfillment with the pen and notebook system, this flourish gives a similar sense of satisfaction.

This is truly an elegant and cool application--not to mention, it's actually both useful and safe to use while driving!

For you Blackberry users out there, there's a Jott version for you too!

Carnegie Corporation of New York President Vartan Gregorian and Thomas H. Kean, Chairman of the Corporation’s Board of Trustees joined South African leaders to dedicate new Carnegie Corporation-funded model libraries in Pretoria and Cape Town. Leaders from prominent South African universities also teamed with the U.S. foundation leaders to inaugurate the opening of a multi-campus electronic research consortium. The foundation has invested more than $10 million since 2004 - including a new grant of $2.5 million - to revitalize the country’s public library system. The Corporation’s grants have helped to leverage more than $60 million in government and other private funding.

I’ve always felt that good writing comes from good thinking and that learning how to write wel

I've always felt that good writing comes from good thinking and that learning how to write well is difficult. With the advent of the Internet you can find wonderful teaching websites for the craft of writing. My inner underwriter has always believed that if underwriters were taught how to write about disease we could ultimately better understand some of the cryptic medical language found in the APS's we read every day. Well you'll never guess what I found while doing some purposeful surfing (not mindless).

I've added a link to the training modules from the U.S. National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program at Emory University, Atlanta SEER Cancer Registry, Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.

This training website provides web-based training modules for cancer registration and surveillance. When the site is complete, it will comprise about 30 training modules, each covering a particular cancer registration training subject. The site started in September, 2000 and is under continual development.

And to think all I wanted was to find out a little more about recurrent high grade focal dysplasia just to make sure the pathologist was on spot about the colonic mass despite everyone else calling the thing cancer. I'm gonna have some fun playing around in this website.

Today, we have received an unsolicited offer of $2 million from a certain individual to buy the Rent

Today, we have received an unsolicited offer of $2 million from a certain individual to buy the RentersQ web based system, its technology and platform including the patent pending rights.

RentersQ (www.rentersq.com) was launched on May 1, 2007. It currently has over 320 registered user accounts and a few real estate property listings. There has never been any advertisement for RentersQ, thus all the users who come to RentersQ are based on search engine results.

Credit Reporting Companies

There are currently three major credit reporting agencies, TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian, as well as ChexSystem for banking reporting and CarFax for car history reporting. Like any other startups, these companies had to overcome their burdens in their startup years, and today, they are the dominant players in their industry, and so as RentersQ is hoping to be, someday.

Likewise, RentersQ aims to efficiently provide online rental history reporting for the real estate community, anywhere. It’s of the essence that the buyer is not making this offer to buy RentersQ based on its current valuation, but on its future valuation and unique usefulness.

About RentersQ

RentersQ is the world's pioneer and the only web-based rental predictive intelligence platform with real-time RentersQ Scores™, designed to efficiently allow the instant safe sharing of detailed personal characteristics, behavioral traits, and feedback ratings for all the tenants and landlords in the world. It provides innovative and engaging, yet simple-to-use, tools for all real estate property type, anywhere.

RentersQ has developed the world's most critically acclaimed proprietary algorithmic RentersQ Record™, a powerful and the world's first and only web-based rental predictive intelligence platform with real-time RentersQ Scores™, designed to specifically enable all the landlords and tenants around the world to easily and efficiently share among each other and exchange prior rental verification, information, experiences, personal characteristics and behavioral traits of all the tenants and landlords, anywhere in the world.

The RentersQ Record System maintains rental history scores, RentersQ Scores, which rates individual tenants' rentability factors in real-time, on a scale of 0% - 100%, with scores unfavorable if less than 50%, favorable if greater than 50%, and neutral at 50%. The RentersQ Scores for each individual tenant are based on the tenant's rental history report and data as reported in the tenant's RentersQ Record Database.

RentersQ is algorithmically organizing the world's largest database of all the tenants' rental history and background, all around the world, as independently and freely entered by the landlords, graphically grouped in one RentersQ Record, based on each tenant's rentability factors, made easy for landlords around the world to confidentially search, intelligently analyze and screen any tenant prior to independently making critical leasing decisions, anytime, anywhere.

When we first launched RentersQ, we didn’t expect it to instantly take off, but rather grow slowly as users have to get used to its system and our timeline to grow RentersQ was at least five years, but we have been amazed by its rapid growth.

More Offers

We appreciate everyone who has and continues to support us in our endeavor. We have received a few offers last year which we have turned down based on the fact that those who made those offers don’t seem to have ability to grow RentersQ as we hope it to be, thus we’ve turned them down.

But because of the time constraint which distracts us from focusing on our new project Gatepedia (www.gatepedia.com), we are now entertaining any other offers for RentersQ, which we may match against one another and then decide on the one we find most attractive, with a goal to grow RentersQ into a viable data tool to exponentially benefit the real estate community around the world.

Feel free to email us at corporate@rentersq.com with any questions or concerns.

Need help? I'm glad to offer it! Don't worry too much about the 'social' part of bookmarking at first. Instead, try one of these sites out for yourself. Once you see the personal usefulness and start using the tool, then the social part of this kind of bookmarking will become useful later on.

2. THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMMMM…

Teaching gifted students compared to teaching every student.

No link for this one, instead, here is a reflection Kari did on having a SHARP, gifted cluster, in her class this year. I thought this was very insightful and also thought about just how much this applied to every student, not just gifted ones!

Top 10 Lessons I Learned Being Involved in SHARP

1. Different is Good: Strategies for differentiation help all students be successful: Gifted, LD, ESL, Non-Categorized.
2. Free Birds Soar: Given the freedom to choose how to present their learning, Gifted students will surpass your, and their own, expectations.
3. Stimulation is Mandatory: Gifted students need to be challenged constantly, or else boredom sets in.
4. Knives and Spoons: Gifted students are not necessarily “gifted” in all areas of the curriculum.
5. Fun and Games: Gifted students are still typical kids- they need to have fun and be accepted by their peers.
6. Be Comfortable with Uncertainty: Gifted students ask lots of questions, but it’s okay if you, the teacher, don’t have all the answers.
7. Stars Are Part of a Larger Constellation: Gifted students need to be recognized for their uniqueness, but still fit in with the rest of the class.
8. Heads May Butt: Your cluster may not always get along or work well together all the time!
9. A Watered Flower Grows: Being involved in SHARP helps you to evolve as a teacher.
10. Hear Me Vent and Brag: Having conversations with other SHARP teachers is valuable and gratifying.

Scrivere Sempre, Scrivere Ovunque - Io faccio molte cose.

Dove Collezionare i Dati (Cartacei) - David Allen suggerisce uno schedario alfabetico contenente cartelline semplici.

Dove Collezionare i Dati (Digitali) - La cosa è tautologica: in un personal computer, no?

Il terzo è quello che David Allen etichetta con l'espressione May Be Some Day. Attualmente è in fase beta, e su invito.
