It's been a while since I've seen a concept super car that really wow'd me, but I recently stumbled across this little gem that was created in a joint venture between MotorCity and C2P Automotive. It's powered by a 600HP V10 sitting in an all-carbon fiber monocoque chassis. With 20" wheels up front and 21" wheels in the back, this ride has got the rubber to put all that power down in style. Physically, it's a little shorter and narrower than a Murcielago LP640, but 15 mm higher.

While this car is still only a concept, both companies are seeking more funding to put it into production. I sure hope they find it, because this car is gorgeous!

Many are of the opinion that buying classic cars in the US would be the best thing for people outsid

Many are of the opinion that buying classic cars in the US would be the best thing for people outside its four walls at this point in time.

They couldn't be more wrong.

At a time when many say that the USA is going into recession, the classic car market has not been recorded at a stronger point in the last 12 months, especially with the most recent auction results.

Sure, there may be certain distress sales, but when your talking about pure classics and muscle, you better bring a good bank account with you to the table, as the bidding is going through the roof. Alternatively, if you have been sitting and converting your hard earned cash into Euros - you bet well and can buy more.

SCM and its analysts have a great few things to say about what is and what isn't hitting the mark in terms of estimates for certain Hemi packed cars or Cobra stinging AC's going up on the auction block. Have a look at what they have to say here in an article entitled "Recession Proof Muscle Cars"

http://www.sportscarmarket.com/articles/archives/1429

If you need more convincing, how about a $ 1 Million Ford while youy here? Think I'm joking? Think again. Have a look here:

http://money.cnn.com/video/#/video/fortune/2008/03/13/fortune.callaway.ford.fortune

But to top it all off, a ginger haired ex- Radio DJ from UK has gone and done what no man has done before. That is to buy a 1961 Ferrari California Spyder for over $ 11 Million (previously owned by a certain J Coburn). The Internet still burns with stories covering the event itself. No doubt, the man loves his cars, but paid perhaps a tad too much we think.

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/19/1961-ferrari-california-spyder-sells-for-record-10-894-900/

There have been numerous records set and many broken this year, in fact so many, I didn't want to list them just yet.

We do still have 5 months left in 2008 and I will post the most exciting ones for last.

Till then,

Enjoy.

Rumors about the Dodge Challenger have been flying around since the concept first made its debut, at the New York International Auto Show, Chrysler unveiled its full 2009 Dodge Challenger model lineup which will include the SRT8 with a 425hp, 6.1-liter Hemi, the R/T with a 375hp, 5.7-liter Hemi and the SE with a 250hp, 3.5-liter V-6.

“Our all-new 2009 Dodge Challenger is a modern-day muscle machine representing the best from the past and present,” said Mike Accavitti, director of Dodge and SRT Global Marketing. “Thirty-five years following the debut of the original, we are bringing Dodge Challenger back and loading it with essential hardware, styling and technology desired by today’s buyer.” Numbers have yet to be revealed, but officials are saying that prices will start in the low $20,000s for the SE.

A great video of the $318,000 Lambo supercar vs. the $70,000 underdog. Even though both cars are rolling at the start of this video, both cars have fantastic AWD systems, so this should give you a fair idea of how the two cars compare in terms of straight line speed. Here's a quick breakdown of the stats.

Lamborghini LP640: 6.5 liter, Naturally Aspirated V-12 producing 633 bhp. Curb weight is 3,671 lbs.

Nissan GT-R: 3.8 liter twin-turbo V-6 producing 480 bhp. Curb weight is 3,814 lbs.

Now on August 20th, most of the parts used on the race prepped GT-R will be available for purchase to the public. Performance parts will be available in kits or in individual pieces; parts ranging from exhausts, tuned ECU's, wheels/tires, and light-weight carbon fiber aero bits. Rumor's on the net suggest most of the parts developed can be found on the upcoming GT-R Spec V...GT-R owners, pull out your pocket books as I'm sure these parts won't be cheap!

9ff has bred this car for pure speed. It’s only got a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged flat-six en

9ff has bred this car for pure speed. It's only got a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, but it somehow manages to output an impressive 987 horsepower and 710 lb-ft of torque. That's 247 HP/liter! The new Corvette ZR1 only produces 100 HP/liter and the Veyron is at 125 HP/liter. This is HUGE power output. Weighing in at 3047 pounds also makes it a light weight contender, a full 1/2 ton lighter than the Veyron. While it looks like a flattened out 911 with the rear bumper missing, it's aerodynamics are tuned for just enough downforce to keep in on the road at 250+ MPH. The 9ff probably won't be a track monster due to it lacking a big spoiler, but put it on a long stretch of road where you can unwind it properly and you'll be in for a treat. While it's 0-60 time is nearly a full second slower than the Bugatti, it's 0-186 MPH (300KM/H) is a full 0.6 seconds faster! That means this beast is geared for the top end, which is why it'll eventually beat out the Veyron traveling at a claimed 254.77 MPH, a hair faster than the Veyron. It's more exclusive than the Veyron as only 20 will be made, and it's cheaper speed still, costing a mere £350,000 ($693,000).

The buzz on the net is that this is, in fact, a Veyron Killer. I respectfully disagree...while the 9ff is a fast car, the Veyron cannot be bested. It is the divine example a Supercar you can actually use in everyday life: the ride is comfortable, the interior is lavish and elegant, and the way the Veyron operates is unlike any other. You can take the Veyron to the track, to it's top speed on the autobahn, or to the grocery store to pick up supper and it'll do all of those tasks equally well. The Porsche has a bare bones interior, an unfinished exterior, a wooded floor, and no safety features other than a roll cage and a 5-point harness... hell, it doesn't even have a crumple zone for an impact. Air bag, you don't need no stinking airbag. Sure, it's 1 MPH faster at top speed, but does that really matter when you're butt hurts because the ride quality is terrible and the road noise is deafening? It wouldn't matter to me.

They all had Qatari plates and were simply driving around the block repeatedly...apologies for the poor quality of some of the pics, but I think you'll get the idea.

My fave is the black LP640 with the pink interior. It had a matt black paint finish with gloss black rims. An absolute stunner.

In today's automotive world there's two types of cars that gain the viewers interest -- green cars, (plug ins, hybrids, fuel efficients) and fast, giant engined, roadsters and supercars. Chrysler's problem is they have neither of those assets on their resume, and its hurting them. Their main selling point they advertise is their Chrysler 300, which in my opinion is a poor try at a Bentley or Rolls Royce without the engine. This car is exactly what no one will want: a poor imitation of a more beautiful car, and not low enough miles per gallon to be fuel efficient. Finally, it isn't fast enough to even come close to a Bentley, so the supercar aspect is thrown out the window. The only thing that Chrysler really have going for them is their dodge Viper, which is their fastest, and most beautiful car by a longshot. Besides that, their Dodge trucks are failing, their Jeep model isn't doing much else besides exciting a small group of off-roader's, and their PT cruiser is far from attractive -- it is more or less an ugly, tall and distasteful bug. Don't tell Chrysler, but their screwed.

Road & Track got the inside scoop on the Spec V's offical numbers, so I figured I'd post them up for you all. Here's what we're looking at:

- Power increased to an advertised 520 bhp (at 6500 rpm) and 440 lb.-ft. of torque peaking from 3200–5200 rpm, but as we know, when a Spec V gets put on the dyno, it'll probably turn out to be much more than that.

- Extensive use of carbon fiber will drop about 200 lbs, putting the curb weight at 3,615 lbs.

- It's only going to have two seats, not four.

- Subtle exterior changes like different wheels and tweaked aero bits.

- Official acceleration stats haven't been released, but it'll get to 60mph faster that 3.5 seconds and should run a quarter mile around 11.0 seconds flat.

- Nurburgring times will be sub-7:29 seconds. Early estimates put it at the 7:25 mark.

- Purchase price approaching $130,000: Nearly twice what a standard GT-R costs.

Audi Claims V-10 Powered R8 Will Set the Record on the 'Ring - AutoAnything

The R8 was a big surprise for the Auto industry. It's fast, handles supremely well, and has great looks to boot. But with all the recent challenges on the Nurburgring, Audi decided that the R8 wasn't fast enough. Auto reporters have spotted the V10 R8 on the 'Ring, noting the subtle changes in the air intake design, front grill, and larger side scoops. Although no official details have been released about the engine, chassis, and suspension changes, rumors on the net point to Audi using the 5.2 liter V10 that they put in the Lamborghini Gallardo to give the R8 the extra boost it needs to compete on the 'Ring. Additional chassis reinforcement and bigger brakes are also expected to be included on the V10 model to help handle the extra grunt.

Audi is boasting that the V10-powered R8 will beat out Chevy's current record-holding production car run on the 'Ring of 7:26.4. This is a bold claim on Audi's part considering that the V8-powered R8 ran the 'Ring in 8:04. Hopefully Audi can pull this off as it'll put even more pressure on other auto manufacturers to develop faster cars with more advanced chassis's and more highly tuned engines. To help wet your appetite, here's a short video of the R8 doing test laps round the 'Ring.

There has been some buzz on the car forums that the two car manufacturers, Chevy and Nissan, started the lap timer at different points on the track, thus giving room for error between the two run times. So Garage419 put the videos together and chose the pit lane exit sign as a marker to start the timer. Check out the video for the complete run down on who really is faster round the ring!

We've seen some people do wild stuff to the exterior of their cars, but this is just insane! 40 lbs. of gold was used to literally plate the Porsche Turbo! With gold being at a record high, currently at $963 per ounce, that puts this project cost at $616,320, plus another $130,000 for the Porsche. And thats before paying the laborers who must have spent countless hours detailing the heck out of this thing. A picture is worth a thousand words, so check'em out!
