But it does; and regrettably, it is becoming more widespread. Most rogue software uses social engineering to convince users’ to download this type of malicious software.

In a phishing attack, the attacker creates a set of circumstances where the potential victims are convinced that they are dealing with an authorized party. It relies for its success on the principle that asking a large number of people for this information, will always deceive at least some of those people.

A personal example of how this works is as follows. According to a recent email (similar in form and content to 20+ I receive each month), my online banking privileges with Bank of America had been blocked due to security concerns. Hm.. Saya aja udah nggak ngerasa nyaman dikasih sms spam sama operator selular langganan, apalagi kalo nanti di-spam oleh SMS kampanye?

Mai e cineva care a cerut sa fie DEZABONAT si inca primeste mailuri de la Cristina? Sau sunt singur?

Apoi, recunosc, am dat si eu un reply-to all:

cine e Cristina de fapt?

In continuare au curs vreo 4-5 rugaminti de dezabonare, apoi rugaminti de dezabonare si de la discutia creata.

Prin multitudinea de out-of-the-office reply-uri mi s-a confirmat ca multa lume este in concediu in perioada aceasta.

Apoi a venit o scrisoare deschisa:

Nu am avut curiozitatea sa intru pe siteul tau si pe de o parte regret pentru ca e posibil sa fii pierdut ceva valoros din vedere, pe de alta parte nu, pentru ca vreau sa imi impart timpul asa cum imi taie capul, nu cum imi sugereaza Cristina Radulescu in zecile de mesaje trimise atat mie cat si unei jumatati din populatia Romaniei cu acces la mail, cu care nu ai stat nici macar la o cafea, pentru ca daca ai fi baut atatea cafele ti-ar fi daunat la inima si da, stiu, esti inca tanara...

Trebuia sa iti fi dat seama de la bun inceput ca valentele tale artistice (valoaroase sau nu) nu pot merge mana in mana cu spamul, mici mesaje nevinovate. Pentru a construi o imagine pozitiva a siteului tau si pentru ca oamenii sa nu aiba o senzatie de iritare atunci cand iti vor auzi numele, peste ani, cand tu vei deveni celebra (sic!), iti sugerez, de dragul celor pe care deja i-ai enervat, sa NU MAI TRIMITI astfel de mesaje. Oricum, iti mai ramane jumatate din populatia tarii care are acces la mail si care nu stiu acum nimic de demersul tau pentru ca nu le cunosteai adresa pana acum! Mai sapa!

PS. Draga Cristina, daca tot esti "hotarata sa te lansezi", spune-ne locul si ora! Cred ca se vor anunta multi doritori sa sparga o sticla de sampanie de tine!

Cei din liste s-au impartit in 2 tabere: unii zic ca au mult de munca dar au timp sa raspunda la mail-uri iar altii timp liber si au fost amuzati sa raspunda la noul grup creat.
