Another summer, another In Your Pocket. The Europe-wide city guide series is proud to launch its newest guide in the capital of Slovenia in the same year that this small but plucky country holds the EU presidency.

Ljubljana In Your Pocket will be published three times in 2008, then six times a year starting in 2009 to reflect the rapid changes in this exciting city. Offering everything from independent hotel, restaurant and nightlife reviews, the guide helps foreign visitors plan their journey from start to end, also providing transport schedules, city, country and public transport maps (in the print guide) and tips on what to see and do.

When visiting Ljubljana, don't miss the chance to see the city's most prominent building, grand old Ljubljana castle up close, perhaps using the funicular to get there. There's plenty else to see and do in town. Make sure you catch one of the events of the Ljubljana Festival, which has world-class performances across the city all summer long. To escape the city, there's no better destination than beautiful Bled with its magnificent lake, views and famous cream cakes – read all about it in the Bled In Your Pocket special.

Finally, if you have comments or tips that we can use to improve this guide, please send them to us here.

Enjoy Ljubljana.

The toll-collection system with vignettes is being introduced with the aim of improving traffic flow and reducing emissions to the environment.

The tales of my April Italy/Slovenia trip have been interrupted by other pressing posts. Here's a short photo essay of gig day in Ljubljana where we played one of our most fun shows ever to an adoring crowd.

Ljubljana is a beautiful city and the people are very friendly there.

It seemed that everywhere we went, they were expecting us with open arms.

We ate goulash in a medieval re-enactment restaurant that had been recommended to us. It looked really touristy but the food was actually very good. Goulash is not a very sexy dish to photograph but it was delicious and warmed our bellies on this rainy April day.

The girls autographed copies of our CD for fans who had won a radio contest to get their pictures taken with us. They also won a Nokia phone, courtesy of Mobitel, the Slovenian cellphone company that used our track Lawnmower Boy in a TV commercial.

They looped the commercial on the flat-screens at the club (click image to view, in case you've not seen it and are so inclined).

The changing face of Europe: the check-point is no longer manned at the border crossing. We headed back to Italy the next day.

: ) Veldig bra.

Men en ting, dette bilde betyr mye for meg u know;

Har dere vært på noe ferie søtiser? ; )

Tuesday was a rainy day again, so we discussed a lot, view a lot of portflios. i also had a talk on Identity on Internet, what is it, how do we build it and why is it useful. I received really good feedback. I'll published it on Internet next week. Unfortunately I missed the opening of Robert Knoth's exhibition, because on Sunday there was a mild hail rain, so I had to spray our vineyard again... Human footprints indeed!

A crit session with Robert Knoth. Robert Knoth gave us a wonderful tip. He said that we photographers are thinking that we will slowly progress one step at the time in our career also in our jobs, but the reality is that if you start earning money photographing a bowl with a golden fish, you will probably photograph that for the rest of your life. It's not that somebody will call you and say,
"oh... I saw a your wonderful picture a golden fish and I would like to hire you to go to Sudan and make a story on violation of human rights."
The same goes for press conferences. I was left speechless...

How ever much the guide books hype it up, Slovenia is a country most people have never heard of before. Therefore even I am confused as to why it was the destination for my summer holiday this year. As the following photos will prove, it was a stoke of fortune! In Slovenia, things are laid back and slow. You can walk on the tracks whenever and wherever you want. Everyone speaks English and beer is €1.50! Oh yeah, and the trains never get buffed. I was seeing panels from 2003 still running! The main station in the capitol (Ljubljana) was sea of colour where it was rare to see a train that was not painted. There was some really sick writers up on the trains with frequent appearances from Italian writers. To name but a few who stood out to me were 'Files', The 'City Rats' Crew and 'Guns' (Crew?). Files in particular had a legendary selection of panels ranging from a small production with some other writers to enormous whole cars. In all I took about 1000 photos just of graff and most of them were panels. I stayed in the Celica Hostel, which is a sweet place to go if ever in that neck of the woods. This post will be a two part section just due to the sheer number of photos!

It was going to rain, but I didn't want to pay for accomodation and I wanted to test my equipment. I set up the tarp like a tent. I got in and it was hot as shit. Then mosquitoes were all over the place. I couldn't handle it.

I kept walking towards a campground. It took over an hour probably and I was lugging my pack. Sucked. I got to the camp, and asked if they had any tents to rent. No. Shit, that was frustrating. Then I turned back towards town, facing another hour walk, when I saw this sheltered beauty: a wooden canopy bus stop. I set up shop and had a good night's rest. The rain came pouring down. I was happy I wasn't in my crude tarp tent.

I got kicked out of the bus stop at 6:30am when a cop came by. He said ˝You're sleeping here?˝ I denied that I was although I was completely in the bag. He told me I had 5 minutes to get out of there.

This is me at the lake. Really misty beautiful.

With the Champions Youth Cup officially being cancelled now, Chelsea have made alternative plans for

With the Champions Youth Cup officially being cancelled now, Chelsea have made alternative plans for the Reserve pre-season, having most of August now free to step up their preparations. Instead of heading to Malaysia, the team will now go to Slovenia for a match against Hajduk Split, before returning to England for a home-and-away double header against Manchester United.

The first of the additional three games is a bit of a foray into the unknown, both in venue and opposition. Slovenia are the unlikely hosts but a growing Chelsea supporter base can be found there, and there is some interest in the Reserve team. Hajduk Split are one of the powerhouses of Croatian football and have produced national team legends in Robert Jarni, Aljosa Asanovic, Alen Boksic, Igor Stimac, and current Croatian national team coach Slaven Bilic. Whether the match is against their first team or Reserves is as yet unclear, but it will be a great experience and test for the team.

Man Utd were also due to be heading out to Malaysia to defend the title they won last August. They too have had to make a change of plans, and it suits both teams best to play a fixture at home - Chelsea's most likely to be at Brentford's Griffin Park, with the return game at Northwich Victoria's Victoria Stadium. United have had a fine start to their pre-season, with wins at Burscough (3-1) and Altrincham (3-0). Chief amongst their stars is Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo Possebon, who is a class act pulling the strings in the middle of the park, and developing a penchant for scoring spectacular long range goals.

Further previews and reports on all fixtures will be on this site, as ever. Dates of the fixtures should be confirmed over the coming days, and news of those will be on here too. The Man Utd matches will also be covered by the excellent United Youth.

Severa Gjurin is a singer and I photograph her for a Striptiz project. Before I made this portrait some friends approached me and said all excited that Severa is for sure the most IN singer in Slovenia. One friend, a photographer said that she is soooo hot, that he would like to trade his picture for my portrait of her. No problem I said, but I didn't made my picture yet. When I show him, he was horrified! Maybe even a bit mad on me to make such a horrifying picture with such a beautiful girl. Well, as Rudi Carel would say "Laß sich überaschung" or something like that.

The concept for this picture was a dream like picture of Severa from underwater. She is also self taught sculpture maker, so I asked her to bring some of her sculptures and I really liked the hand. We were shooting in Atlantis. I made few shots under the surface of water, but then I asked her to do some portraits under the water. It didn't work, because pool water is too aggressive for her eyes, so it didn't work inspite Severa's effort.

For this portrait I bought Ewa Marine underwater case for 300 EUR and I asked Klemen Ilovar to assist me with studio flashes. Unfortunately radio trigger didn't work under water of 1 meter depth, so I was doomed to failure. I asked humbly Severa if we could repeat the portrait in the afternoon somewhere in the nature and she was up for it. Later when I was checking my images I was completely desperate, then I saw this picture above. I thought it was great, but I was afraid to show it to Severa. She liked it even more. She said she is sick of the image of cute singer and she is happy to see her from new angle.

Oh yes,... I'm publishing also some other pictures of her that we took a week early just for a test, but it started to rain.

->

1. Kroatia. 2. En kanal i Venezia. 3. St. Mark's Basilica (Markus Kirken).

Vil være her lengre, men that's Life. Skal iallefall møte Mirko idag. : D Blir koslig.

The Peoples Republic of China’s State Nuclear Power Technology Company (SNPTC) has recently selected the Westinghouse/Shaw Consortium and Westinghouse’s AP1000 passive Generation III technology as the basis for four nuclear power plants.

The AP1000 Consortium will be working closely with Energy Recruitment Solutions Ltd (ERS) in the implementation of the new build program with positions and assignments.

As part of the AP1000 Consortium, Shaw provide engineering, procurement, commissioning, and management services for the four Chinese nuclear generation units. Energy Recruitment will assist in supporting this staffing requirement.

ERS therefore have an ongoing need for staff to fulfill this large scale demand for professional skilled and educated construction and engineering experts. ERS have positions across all disciplines within construction and Engineering for long term ex-pat staff positions near Shanghai.

Mainland China already has eleven nuclear power stations in commercial operation with a further six under construction, and plenty more in the planning stages about to start construction. China needs more Nuclear reactors if it is to continue its vertical climb in world wide dominance.

The countries rapid expansion in its growth of commercial and industry factories leads not only to national power shortages but also a heavy reliance on Fossil fuels that as a direct result is also a big impact on health and its smog related effects on the nation.

At the end of February 2007 a framework agreement was signed between Westinghouse and SNPTC specifying Haiyang in Shandong province as the site of the second pair of AP1000 units, with Sanmen.

In July 2007, Westinghouse, along with consortium partner Shaw, signed the AP1000 contracts with SNPTC, Sanmen Nuclear Power Company, Shangdong Nuclear Power Company and China National Technical Import & Export Corporation (CNTIC). There were no specific terms released however figures of $5.3 billion for the deal have been widely quoted.

The Sanmen site works commenced in February 2008 and full construction for unit 1 is to start in March 2009, with the first power expected late in August 2013.

Its is widely acknowledged that EDF will take a 30% share in the Taishan project as joint venture partner with CGNPC.

Zora Stančič and Petra Varl have an exhibition at MGLC and I was commissioned by Mladina to do a portrait for my Striptiz creative portrait rubric. I must say although it looks like an easy portrait it was one of the hardest portraits to do. We were working on it for an hour and a half. I had an idea of composition, but then we tried out different suggestions and got entangled in details of expression. Picture didn't worked, because we were just looking details and not whole picture. On the end I said lets try one more time and I did a picture were painting in the back communicates with artists. And that was a break through. Before we were looking just details, whereas in this picture details are blended in one composition.

I haven't notice the forest because of the trees.
