Vol. 3 of the Shilo - We Make It Good Mix Series went up this morning featuring the man himself, the UK's Sinden. As per the last two amazing mixes by Pretty Titty and Chris Devlin I rocked on the artwork. Warren here at Shilo cranked out some really sick Realflow styles for the liquids as well for the evil spewing death skull. The mix is super dope featuring ALL unreleased tracks from Sinden's golden HD. Go download it!

And while you’re at it, check out this page of advertisements. There’s some pretty funny stuff there.

Child prodigy turned electro-wizard, Yuksek, is making more of an appearance these days with his ever-inspiring remixes. This time it’s of artists like Mika, Ghostface Killah and Van She. “Lollipop” has all of the starry-eyed electro builds to keep dancefloors- and European festival grounds- melting all summer. In a totally different, but equally impressive direction, we have us a Van She “Strangers” remix that showcases all of the dreamy, synthy new wave goodness with that grinding electro spine that only Yuksek could pair. A big thanks goes out to LeTouch for the update- wonderful blog. Cheers!

Mika - Lollipop (Yuksek Remix)

Van She - Strangers (Yuksek Remix)

We also have us a piping hot remix from Le Castle Vania. This time he reworked one of my favorite songs and artists of the moment, Grum. One of my favorite classic artists from when this blog had just started and one of my favorite artists from within the last few weeks. Keep an eye out for a killer Shinichi Osawa edit by Lies In Disguise, Le Castle Vania’s project with Blake Miller from Moving Units, that they have coming out pretty soon. Now that’s a winning combo if I’ve ever heard one..

Grum - Go Back (Le Castle Vania Remix

Oh man, here’s what you’ve been waiting for. You might not even know it quite yet, but you’ve been dying to hear this shit. Fake Blood popped up on the blogosphere with a few new remixes that are entirely unreal. One of them is this Unkle vs. Fake Blood clash that pounds. I literally can’t get enough of it. The other two, that I’ve decided to post, are of Underworld and Sinden & Monte Cristal. Quite a range of work here to get lost to. Fake Blood has the unique ability to take what I would sometimes call an ‘outdated’ production sample and tear it’s brain out all over a sounddeck.

Unkle - Restless (Fake Blood Remix)

For the 60th No Love Lost Records mixtape project, Anoraak put together a killer little mixtape that will find it’s way on my car stereo system for the next month or two. Recently a Myspace featured artist, there seems to be a lot of positive feedback to his Karate Kid-esque 80’s new wave style. Shoot, Anoraak even has a Karate Kid flyer in his myspace photo album, if that tells you anything about influences. This music couldn’t be better for a breezy summer night, driving alongside Lake Michigan like life was an outtake of Risky Business. Classic stuff here. I can honestly say that anything that this guy comes out with is solid gold, and that I am more excited to hear Anoraak’s new material than any other artist at this moment. Un-effing-believable.

Generasi sekarang lebih suka dengan lagu-lagu modern mulai dari dangdut, pop, RnB, and so on.

Ck ck kc ...

Are Elektrons actually good? I don't know. I have never heard a non-remixed version of their stuff. Sinden did a sick ass remix of "Dirty Basement" that was so good that I had to include it in my dj mix:

[audio http://ia360929.us.archive.org/2/items/TheBrukshotSessions/PrototypeIii.mp3]
(hint: it is the fourth song)
But anyway, we are gathered here for this song and it is quite a bit of goofy madness. Anyone who has followed the last year or so in house should be aware of the man credited for this particular remix. He is like the Kool Keith of dancing. I think I understand the system for his aliases. He is Herve for bizarre house tracks like this, The Count of Monte Cristal for booty or B-more tracks, Voodoo Chilli for disco and Speaker Junk for..well...I guess that shit sounds the same as the Herve shit but who cares? I'm still right! As I've stated before I really like this house sound that has risen to prominence with this guy, Sinden, Crookers, Switch, etc. in the last year. Assholes who write other blogs and in music magazines call it "fidget house". I think that name sucks. It sounds like gidget or makes me think of someone who took speed and your friends all went to the bathroom and you are forced to hang out with them and it is awkward. So yes, boycott calling this "fidget house". In fact, boycott calling things "deep house", "disco house", "tech house", "progressive house", "electro house" (I'm guilty of using that one), "acid house", "chicago house", blah, blah, bumboklaat. Why do we need to categorize to the point where the ingredients of a genre are so specific as to make it impossible for it to progress? I blame it on other djs and music writers. Worse are djs with blogs. Oh shit, wait...

Photos by Andral Ludovic - Great work. And while you're at it, check out this page of advertisements. There's some pretty funny stuff there.

Child prodigy turned electro-wizard, Yuksek, is making more of an appearance these days with his ever-inspiring remixes. This time it's of artists like Mika, Ghostface Killah and Van She. "Lollipop" has all of the starry-eyed electro builds to keep dancefloors- and European festival grounds- melting all summer. In a totally different, but equally impressive direction, we have us a Van She "Strangers" remix that showcases all of the dreamy, synthy new wave goodness with that grinding electro spine that only Yuksek could pair. A big thanks goes out to LeTouch for the update- wonderful blog. Cheers!

Mika - Lollipop (Yuksek Remix)

Van She - Strangers (Yuksek Remix) (removed..)

We also have us a piping hot remix from Le Castle Vania. This time he reworked one of my favorite songs and artists of the moment, Grum. One of my favorite classic artists from when this blog had just started and one of my favorite artists from within the last few weeks. Keep an eye out for a killer Shinichi Osawa edit by Lies In Disguise, Le Castle Vania's project with Blake Miller from Moving Units, that they have coming out pretty soon. Now that's a winning combo if I've ever heard one..

Grum - Go Back (Le Castle Vania Remix

Oh man, here's what you've been waiting for. You might not even know it quite yet, but you've been dying to hear this shit. Fake Blood popped up on the blogosphere with a few new remixes that are entirely unreal. One of them is this Unkle vs. Fake Blood clash that pounds. I literally can't get enough of it. The other two, that I've decided to post, are of Underworld and Sinden & Monte Cristal. Quite a range of work here to get lost to. Fake Blood has the unique ability to take what I would sometimes call an 'outdated' production sample and tear it's brain out all over a sounddeck.

Unkle - Restless (Fake Blood Remix)

For the 60th No Love Lost Records mixtape project, Anoraak put together a killer little mixtape that will find it's way on my car stereo system for the next month or two. Recently a Myspace featured artist, there seems to be a lot of positive feedback to his Karate Kid-esque 80's new wave style. Shoot, Anoraak even has a Karate Kid flyer in his myspace photo album, if that tells you anything about influences. This music couldn't be better for a breezy summer night, driving alongside Lake Michigan like life was an outtake of Risky Business. Classic stuff here. I can honestly say that anything that this guy comes out with is solid gold, and that I am more excited to hear Anoraak's new material than any other artist at this moment. Un-effing-believable.

Baile Funk time! This one here is a bona fide party starter. The hook is, as in all Baile Funk, sick. The beat is hard. What more can you ask for? Sure, there has been a certain awareness of Baile Funk for a while but I believe that it's profile will only grow stronger. Europe has been on that tip for a few years and last time I was back in the mothaland, Paris had at least one club dedicated to Baile Funk. Yeah, crazy I know. A lot of big producers have started going on a Baile Funk tip as well. Other than Diplo, there are songs from Sinden, A-Trak and a few others I can't name off the top of my head right now. Crookers has been all over remixing the music and has created a handful of massive club jams with it. From my own experience with this blog, Baile Funk posts are among the most viewed of all, and many times I have to hold myself back from talking about it more in the quest to drive more views (gotta give more under the radar music it's chance). Anyway, check it out. The video I found for it is a weird concoction of Baile Funk and Japanese anime. Who knew someone could like thme both.

Apparently the wrong version of A-Trak's remix of "Beeper" has been floating around.
Message from A-Trak:

As you know I did a remix for Count & Hello Sinden's "Beeper". Unfortunately when the label got it mastered there was an error and the engineer cut off the first second of my track. By the time Domino let me hear it, it was already on promo cds circulating and even though they fixed it for the commercial release, that's the version that got on all the blogs. Here's the correct version of my track. It's easy to hear the difference: it starts with a kick drum. If you could let people know that they probably have a defective one and encourage them to download this one, that would really help... thanks!

D.I.M. consistently pushes the envelope for making crowd killing electro tunes that are as cutting edge as they are completely and totally unforgiving. I'm expecting to be attacked from every auditory angle on this one, similar to his labelmate, Alex Ridha (aka Boys Noize of Boys Noize Records) several months back on the same stage. This guy's not making too many detours along his way through this fine country before he heads back to Germany, so I'd suggest you spend your time wisely considering how many events there are that evening.

To only complicate things further, The Black Ghosts are scheduled to grace our fine city on Thursday, May 8th, as well- at the Hideout along with Thunderheist, Lazer Crystal, Willy Joy & Capcom. Shortly after releasing the I Want Nothing EP, I'm now officially anxious for the debut full length to drop. The single track of "I Want Nothing" falls in line with the rest of their anthemic, synth heavy, dream-bangers, and once again leaves me with the question: are there a better set of vocal cords on anybody creating music these days?? Big ups to Check the Availability for the Phones remix. The Whip's version of "Any Way You Choose To Give It" is right off of my year-end best of list for '07, and god damn right it's still one of the hardest hitting, most skull crushing electro definitions that I've come across since starting this little blog.

Whilst on the subject of Phones, or Paul Epworth to be exact- the man who is still one of my favorite producers after that legendary Futureheads "Hounds of Love" teardown that was executed so well- why not post a few tracks that he has graced with remixes since we last did a little mention of him? This Jape track found it's way to Discodust a few weeks ago, the rest of them have been haphazardly littered throughout the blogosphere for a little while now, only now to be concentrated on by yours truly. The Peter, Bjork & John track is pretty old, too. But what remains so remarkable about Phones is that his track selection may come in second only to his artistic vision for each one of the tracks that he actually selects. Truly a winning combination, and a sign of a great artist.. look to the New Order remix for a stunning example. Very powerful.

Turboweekend has been lighting up my ipod like a Christmas tree. A three piece group from Denmark, their debut album "Night Shifts" received many praises from the likes of blogs such as mine. Since then, they've found a few comfortable spots in the Palms Out Sunday Remix weekly, set up a shows with their buddy James Braun, and got booked for their local SPOT festival in Aarhus. With the glaring falsetto and killer synths present in tracks like "My Name is Legion" there's a lot to fall in love with and plenty of reason to keep an eye on them.. I think we got around to posting a few of their tracks somewhere around October. Here are a few new and old songs to check out if you missed it. "You're not a model but you know how to taaake a stand!"

Despite my disappointment for the new Portishead and Santogold albums they still managed to find their way on this chart. You won't find Madonna however, even if I do like that new Timberlake-Timbaland jam.

1. Telemetrik - My Lightyear Act Two EP

This drum and bass producer isn't waiting around for the future; he's bringing it to ya. "Exit Civilization" is the choice here, but "Evil Exists" boasts a well-chosen Smashing Pumkins sample.

2. Ludovic Vendi - Limbo

This blurpy and wonky techno goes epic midway through and doesn't look back.

3. Datassette - Datassette LP

Almost perfect electronic-tech album that was made for your inner robot.

4. The Roots - Rising Down

This is one of the better Roots albums(and they have 9 other albums), and it might make some Best of 2008 lists.

5. Benga - Diary of an Afro Warrior

This album could do for dubstep what Roni Size's New Forms did for drum n' bass.

6. Leila - Mettle

Warp artist Leila shows Portishead how trip-hop works now.

7. Foals - Antidotes

One of the better indie rock albums I've heard this year.

8. Christopher D. Ashley - We are Shining

Electro-pop for the new generation.

9. Justice - dance (Alan Braxe and Fred Falke mix)

I'm almost sick of these vocals, but this mix is like classy, neon lip gloss.

10. Santogold - You'll Find a Way (Switch and Sinden mix)

The one saving grace from a disappointing debut album.

11. Logistics - Reality Checkpoint

This sophomore album for the drum n' bass producer has plenty of quality tracks to put in your crate.

12. Cut Copy- In Ghost Colours

Charming if not predictable album of Australian sunshine.

13. Testament - Killing Season + More than Meets the Eye

Please put these songs on Rock Band so I can seriously thrash... Thanks Jason for the tip on these guys.

14. Sander van Doorn - Grasshopper

This tech/trance cut sounds incredible in the club; take my word for it-.

15. Portishead - Plastic + Hunter

The two salvageable songs off the otherwise forgetful new Portishead album.

You probably remember me posting that great new video for "L.E.S. Artistes" and the XXXChange remix not too long ago, but I figured I'd post this track to serve as a reminder that Santogold's self-titled debut album is out on April 29th here in the US and May 12th in the UK. Apparently she's also collaborated with a list of talented artists and producers, which includes Freq Nasty, Diplo, MIA, Switch, Naeem of Spank Rock, Disco D, Sinden, XXXchange, and Clifford Moonie Pusey of Steel Pulse. I definitely recommend checking out the album when it hits stores and maybe some of you all will even get to drink a Bud Light Lime and check out Santogold with me at Lollapalooza this summer.

How is it that the Metro doesn't sell out when Fools Gold/ Dim Mak come to town? Now that we've established my general feeling of the turnout, lets move on...

To start things off, Sammy Bananas was on the decks and he got kind of a mixed reaction. It seemed like he had a set list mapped out and wouldn't veer away from it, because all he played was old school/ 90's jock jams type songs and the crowd wasn't really into it. Not after Sammy was Sinden, and he got the party started proper. (Sinden came on after Cudi, but I screwed this up, so its out of order. Sorry.) He threw down some chunky electro tunes and basically gave the crowd what they needed after about an hour of lameness. I'm really not sure how Sammy made it on tour with those guys, no offense, but he just wasn't on their level.

The next guy to come out was the surprise of the night for me, Kid Cudi. This guy straight up killed it! I'm not into hip-hop at all, but damn, this guy's beats and lyrics and over all energy were most enjoyable. He just seemed like a real dude, and who cant relate to that? When I got home from the show I went online to see if I could pick up his album, but all he's got released is the "Day 'n' Night EP".

Like Cudi, the rest of the night solid, Atrak, Aoki and surprise guest Flosstradamus all killed it just the same. Kid Color and Greg Corner (I think) of Dark Wave Disco made it out, which was cool. Anyways, the headliners sets were all what you'd expect, Atrak was amazing as usual, Aoki was the best of all the times I've seen him and Floss threw down an interesting set for us remaining fans after a majority of the crowd had left.

If you made it out, then you saw an awesome show, if you didn't... Well... Then theres not much hope for you.

If you live in Chicago or you're friends with anyone from Fools Gold or Dim Mak on MySpace, then you've most likely seen the above flyer. Probably the biggest thing going down here this month, aside from LA Riots, The Bloody Beetroots, Riot in Belgium, and Yelle I mean. Actually, this is a pretty epic month for us!

I'm not even kidding, check out my iCal... It's packed! Anyways, back to the subject at hand, Aoki Vs. A-Trak Vs. Sinden Vs. Sammy Bananas Vs. Kid Cudi. The shit is get'n real TOMORROW at The Metro and if you miss it then you are a failure.
