In Monty Python's famous comedy, the quote, "It is good to be king" humors the ideology that the king always gets his way. Businessmen, pastors and all heads of organizations relish coming to the position where they feel it is good to be king. What this simply means is it is good not to be questioned or second-guessed. This last week, I was questioned not by one of my staff or colleagues, but by God and He said in effect, "Richard, you're getting ready to mess up really badly!"

By no means have I ever felt that I was perfect or incapable of stumbling. As a matter of fact, when I was much younger and was approaching the ministry, I felt that I was so sinful that I was disqualified from ever becoming a minister. My personal compromises with sin were pretty much an emotional roller coaster that I rode every single day and it wasn't until I started praying every morning at 4:00 AM that suddenly the roller coaster stopped and I began to live ever- more consistently away from sinful compromises. Also at this time I found the incredible value of having no reputation, or allowing my so called "perfect" reputation to be slaughtered. I realized Jesus made Himself of no reputation and that having a reputation as a perfect, holy man was actually very dangerous because the same people who call you holy will be the ones who destroy you when they find a flaw. And believe me, they will. I have been there when five different world re-known ministers and evangelists have fallen and every time their worst enemy was not the secular news or non-believers, but rather those closest to them. So I realized that it's very important for the people that work with me to understand my vulnerabilities.

For example: I was on a flight heading across the United States that was grounded because San Francisco was locked in by fog, so the airline agreed to put us up for the night. I was traveling alone and when I got to the hotel desk with a voucher from the airline for a room, a beautiful woman dressed in a sexy business suit slipped up beside me at the counter and boldly told the receptionist, "We'll be staying in the room together." At that moment, my face flushed red with temptation. That which I had fantasized about as a young man suddenly was in my hands and no one would be the wiser. I realized I was on the slipperiest ground I had ever stood on and I was about ready to go down the road of no return. I reached down, grabbed my suitcase and walked directly out of the hotel, not looking back. I paid for a room at another hotel. This experience freaked me out because I knew at that moment I was not strong enough to resist and it was only the grace of God that got me out of that situation.

Another time, I was working in the basement of our church as a janitor and a woman came down during the Sunday morning service and said she wanted to see what the church furnace looked like. She then asked me if I could relieve the pain that was in her back. At this point, I realized that the car on the slippery slope was sliding and I had totally lost control. I reached out to touch her and suddenly she bolted from the room. Two days later, I was called by my denomination. This woman accused me and I had to sit down for a year, even though at the time I wasn't a licensed minister, just a church janitor. But both of these experiences taught me something: I cannot trust my flesh.

As a result, when I became pastor I made a covenant with the church that I would not travel alone and now I mostly travel with my wife and family. As you can tell, it doesn't matter to me what you think about me, but it does matter to me that I complete the journey that God has sent me on and I know that God will not allow me to live with little sin compromises in my life. After I became a pastor, I was speaking on a television show and I went to the hotel with two of the famous pastors and they invited me to join them in the bar, drinking hard liquor. Once again, I faced those little compromises that I'm sure are ok for most Christians but are not o.k. for me.

Now about this week. I received a message from a dear friend of mine, someone I respect very highly, that I would very soon be facing a failure and they were interceding that I did not fail the Lord. At first, it appeared to be ridiculous to me, as I'm sure it appeared ridiculous to Peter that he would deny Christ. But we all know the story well; three times Peter denied Jesus and during the time it would hurt the worst- during Jesus' most vulnerable moments before Calvary. So here I am, sitting in front of the 39 people on my staff and I suddenly see myself as Peter being warned. For thirteen years, I have not wavered concerning the vision of WYSIWYG but suddenly I am faced with the reality that I am also capable of failing. Remember, Peter's failings did not disqualify him from leading the church. As a matter of fact, when Jesus rose from the dead, the first person that Jesus mentioned was Peter so by this we know that God is very aware of our human frailty.

Instantly at this moment I saw myself in my weakness and how vulnerable I really am to failure. I didn't know how to respond to the staff, but I knew I could not suddenly make a boast of how strong I am in my faith but instead how desperate I am for God to uphold me. Earlier in the week, I was on the set getting ready for a shoot and I tripped over an obstacle on the ground, tumbling flat on my face- all 304 lbs. of me. It knocked the wind out of me, so for a long period of time I laid there trying to breathe. Of course, this caused the whole staff to become worried and start interceding for me. But soon I was able to stand up and, even though hurting, we went ahead and finished the shoot that day. That happened over a week ago and I'm still feeling the internal pains from that fall. It especially hurts when I cough, laugh or cry. The Scripture says, "First comes that which is natural, then comes that which is spiritual, for the spiritual is not first." I now realized that this physical fall that I experienced was a warning in the natural realm of something that could happen in the spiritual. So how do you prepare? Is it possible to circumvent a future problem? Only the Scriptures can be referenced to answer a question that could be clouded by your own desire for self preservation. Ninevah was warned, but not destroyed. David was warned for numbering Israel, but he repented and received the Temple Mount.

This is the beauty of God and His ways. He warns you so that you won't go down the path of no return and, may I tell you, this has happened to me many times before. God has warned me, and by heeding His warnings I've had the happiest times of my life. As hard as it is to believe, sitting in front of my staff red in the face, I felt the joy of the Lord rise up in my belly because I knew if I humbled myself that His correction will spare me and will preserve me. For me, this is the most incredible joy because it is a true sign of being loved by my heavenly Father. Daddy, hug me one more time!

Surely you can't just let it fall to the ground in such a manner, spilling its prefabricated parts assembled without remorse all over this cold floor. Surely you're not just going to let it fall along with your aesthetic nihilism, such a rich beauty, into the oblivion of that concrete floor.

I know the story behind the whole 'Don't eat pork' thing. The pigs in the seventh century was sick and unhealthy, so it was suggested that people didn't eat pork. Unfortunately, to the dissatisfaction of Muslims, they haven't realised that pigs are edible now.

It also critise how religious believers tend to believe in anything, regardless of how stupid it may seem. Science then was idiotically stupid, while science now actually confirms religion.

The site (or as we like to say "the Zine") was conceived on October 11, 2006.  Exactly 9 months after it's design team all copulated in a combined effort to create a life.  However this life wasn't born to enjoy liberty, freedom and the pursuit of it's own selfish happiness.  No, we made "the Zine" to give us lives, so that we could enjoy liberty, freedom and the pursuit of our own selfish happiness.  

Since then, we have been organizing a Limited Liability Corporation (Montra Media LLC), apply for tax id and business license with the state and the department of the treasury, draft the articles of corporation and finally, bring together a team of individuals who can contribute a certain level of inspiration and belief in their capabilities and how that translates in their work.

Creating a web staff is a very interesting process... Basically you're doing the combined work of twenty people.  FUN FUN FUN!!!  Forever cashing in on any/every favor from some you know or some who owe you! (...grin) In this case, I called upon the creative efforts of some of the most talented and qualified individuals in the entertainment/music/technology industries, to help establish the manpower that's necessary to run a thriving source of media.

The list goes on and on when it comes to the people you put your faith in for several areas of expertise. Little areas like web marketing,legalities,editing/writing/design/photography and that's just the beginning.

The first version of our web magazine (www.emagazine.com) "A Resource For All Things Brilliant", went ONLINE last October (2006) Since then, we have built an army of affiliate partnerships/working relationships with over 20 Industry Leading Corp.
Our brand has soared throughout the web and still going strong.

This brings us to present day (June 2008) We are on the brink of launching V.3 of www.emagascene.com. Not only have we incorporated the stellar content and brilliant design, we've added several brand new inter-active features that have never been used on the web...until now. We are working tirelessly towards creating an EXCLUSIVE internet source for the online community to access an array of media, inter/active content, and intriguing information in a bold, fresh environment that re-defines the world of online media.

One of these days I'll take more pictures while unpacking/removing plastic etc., but once again I was too excited to put her down, so to skip to the chase... [as with all pics, click for hi-res]

One note about her outfit... I don't have a super large collection, but this was the first time I had a heck of time getting her outfit off.  It only separates in two places and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to easily slip her out.  Thought I was gonna snap something for sure.  Luckily as you can see I somehow managed to get the dress off, remove the protective plastic, and slip her back in, but man...

On display for the moment, but once again I think I'm about to move everyone back to boxes to protect against the heat ;_;  Until then...
