Legendary clothing company Levi's has long been known for their beautiful, imaginative commericials, and their latest, titled Onion Peel, is no different. Shot backwards, it was directed by Michael Haussman, who's previously helmed ads for such brands as Yves Saint Laurent, Ray Ban and Martini and music videos such as SexyBack for Justin Timberlake and You Know My Name for Chris Cornell in addition to a few feature films, the last of which being 2003's Blind Horizon. You can view his whole body of work at the man's official site. What did you think of Onion Peel?

Hopefully this event will take place later rather than sooner, but in my opinion it is never too early to start planning. Who am I kidding? Anyone who knows me personally knows that planning is pretty much my kryptonite. It saps all of my energy and is an effort in futility when I am the one doing the planning. In any event, some of the songs I want played have been in other lists so I won't include them in the five, but they are definitely worth noting. "Spiritual" by Johnny Cash (things you want to experience before dying) would be at the top of this list because it just sounds like an appropriate song to play in that circumstance, "Bold as Love" by Jimi Hendrix would be appropriate because it's my favorite song, and Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback" (songs I have listened to more than four times in a row) and Soulja Boy's "Crank That" (guiltiest guilty pleasures) make the list because people need to be dancing and having fun as well. Enough of what's not on the list, here are the songs that made it:

"Nothing Compares 2 U" performed by Sinead O'Connor - My first exposure to this song was in 1989 when my big sister was in love with this song. With her being so fond of it made an impact on me, though truth be told I never actually listened to the lyrics with a full understanding until I began writing this entry. I'd want this song played because I would hope that a super smart supermodel would be crying hysterically while this song was playing because this is what she thought of me. Still to this day I am moved when I see O'Connor
[googlevideo=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3701234023087143660&ei=YGzsSIDsHoaYrQLWhZmZCw&q=nothing+compares&vt=lf]

“Ne Me Quitte Pas” by Nina Simone - The song is in French, I have no idea what it means even though my aunt France who is from France (seriously) told me, but it remains one of the most moving pieces of art to ever reverberate in my ear. This was the song I (unintentionally) listened to the most when I was grieving over the death of a loved one, and I want it to be the same for me. Just because in my mind it's the song that is most closely related with grief.

"The Funeral" by Band of Horses - Before it was in every other commercial, this song was one of my favorites. Look at the title of the song. It says it all right there. This is the perfect song.

"Chicken Noodle Soup" by DJ Webstar - Because it would make people focus on how ridiculous the song is instead of missing me. Plus I want people to dance.

"Venus As A Boy" by Bjork - If you can combine two of your favorite things it's rarely a bad thing (think peanut butter and jelly in the same jar) and this song is no different. With it being included in one of my favorite movies, Leon The Professional, and being performed by one of my favorite artists, Bjork, it just makes sense.

Thank you for your fab comments- I love reading them!

On a side note, I think I am single-handedly going to attempt to bring back blue mascara....actually violet mascara. The makeup artist at Bobbi Brown used it on me last Friday when I attended a fashion show, and I fell in love with it. It's YSL Everlong Mascara. Makes me feel like a rock star!!!

I also figure that if Justin Timberlake can bring sexy back, and if the CW can bring Beverly Hills 90210 back, I can handle bringing violet mascara into the mainstream.

Robot battle dancing is my chosen profession, but surprisingly there isn't lots of money on the circuit right now. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were initially interested until they realized there weren't actually any robots involved. Check out my styles:

Prom - My prom experience was an unfortunate series of events piled one on top of another. Part of it was my fault for not going with the right people and the rest of it was also my fault for going with the totally wrong person. Lots of fun was not had and to this day I am resentful. Most of the evening saw me sitting at a table with random friends coming an going mostly to laugh at me. Somehow I managed to avoid dancing all night until the DJ played a slow song. My train wreck of a date said that she would really appreciate if I danced with her so I did. I didn't mind since almost every other couple was out there dancing too. During that entire song all I could think about was how much I wished I was there with a different girl. That's not even the part where things got uncomfortable. It reached that point when that song ended and another slow song came on. Most everyone left the dance floor except for a handful of couples once this happened. Yep, we were one of those couples. I just remember that being the longest dance in the history of the world.

Casanova - My older sister has always had an interest in dance. Growing up she took various dance classes and was in dance clubs in school. This love spilled over into her everyday life by choreographing her two little brothers every chance she got. One of these sessions involved two sisters who were family friends and we danced to the Levert song "Casanova." Nothing about it was fancy, but my mom loved it, we had fun preparing it, and I got to be Casanova. ROCK!

Sexyback - Am I recycling an answer? Yes. Get over it and read number five. Again.

Chad and Sarah's Wedding - Last month one of my best friends got married and he chose to include me on their special day by letting me be one of the two groomsmen along with Potter, another college best friend. The three of us tend to have a good time when we get together and we decided to start Chad's marriage off right. By trying to drink our weight in alcohol. Before the wedding we did a celebratory shot (don't worry, Chad's was literally a splash) to let him know how happy we were to be there to support him. Two shots we took while he was in the shower were purely for our enjoyment only. Someone had the foresight to order a limo for the transport of the wedding party and family to the beach location and then on to the reception. Lucky for us the limo had an open bar which was both good and bad. It was good because we could drink to our heart's content on the way over, yet bad because it was only a two mile ride. This meant we had to drink our drinks awfully quick. Since, for some inexplicable reason, Chad didn't want to get drunk, he again only received a splash of vodka in his screwdriver while Potter and I slammed down at least four ounces each in ours. It should be noted that we were the first ones to get picked up, and everyone else that noticed the three glasses and automatically knew who they belonged to. The actual ceremony went off without a hitch and we actually behaved ourselves (which was a surprise to Chad) other than my making a face when the minister mentioned the word sober. Members of the wedding party rode to the reception with the groom's parents once we were done with our pictures. Potter decided it would be best if we all took shots of bourbon, but I decided it was go time for me and filled an entire glass with vodka. Now I do realize this unmarked liquor was probably a bottle of the stuff we found 1.75 liters for $8.95, but it didn't make a bit of difference. Like I said, it was go time. That six or so ounces went down in about five minutes then I poured myself somewhere in the neighborhood of four more ounces that was fully ingested right as we arrived to the reception. Things from here tend to run together a little so please forgive the lack of detail, but I remember obtaining a beer from the bar, being handed an Irish Car Bomb, and getting a second beer all before I was to give my toast (which we had champagne for). Some of you are probably wondering "What in the world does this have to do with you dancing you big jerk?" Well, dear reader, it's setting up the scenario. As the first round of toasts wrapped up with one of the bests toasts in the history of weddings made by yours truly (you should have been there then you'd know I'm actually being modest) I could let loose with no more public speaking requirements. Some way or another the DJ started playing a song I thought we should dance to, so I corralled the bridesmaids and the other groomsman onto the dance floor where we threw down. All of us went nuts and had a great time being silly and celebrating.
Pictures like this are being taken and everyone is watching until the DJ fades out the song a bit early and politely informs us that we haven't gotten to the dance portion of the evening yet. What? Then why are you playing music? Apparently the bride and groom were supposed to do all of their dances first. Oops. Next time they'll know not to invite someone who has rhythm (read alcohol) running through his veins like I did that day.

Josh and Liz's Wedding - Another wedding of one of my closest friends where I was in the wedding party. More than my fair share of libations were enjoyed and this led to some interesting dancing on my part. Emily and I did some swing dancing (even though I had never done it up to that point, and haven't done it since), I danced with Dillon's wife Karen (as seen below),
I dirty danced with Justin's mom to the point where he exclaimed "Dude, that's my mom," and finally had an interesting dance with the bride when most of the older guests had left.
What's the moral of this story? Invite me to your wedding otherwise I'll crash it and act even worse.

Hola Chicas - JT has SexyBack and I'm here to give you the tips on how to get SexySummer (now if I could figure out how to make millions from my Blog like JT does from his lyrics...hmmm).

Tis the season to revel in longer days and in showing skin. Because along with weekends at the beach, summer vacations, and the smell of sunblock (or in my case it's Hawaiian Tropics sun tanning oil - always brings back summer vacation memories!) it's almost obligatory to show some skin.

Below are a few of my tips on how to be Summer Sexy:

1. Exfoliate your skin (both face and body) on a regular basis each week. My two favorites are the NutriMin C facial scrub and the SeaSource Foaming Body scrub both from Arbonne. Neither of them produce dryness, flakiness or rashes, which for Ms. Sensitive Skin Diva (aka me) is a very good thing. I'm also a fan of Dermalogica's facial scrub. For years I used St. Ives and was fanatically loyal to it...alas I was yelled at by too many aestheticians for using it. It's no bueno to be yelled at in a Slavic accent when you are trying to relax while getting a facial. Sorry St. Ives but apparently the apricot scrubs can be harmful because the granules are not even and can cause minuscule tears in your skin (oops).

2. Golden skin but out of the bottle my beauties. Please stay out of the sun. Crinkly, dry, sun-damaged skin (think of the old lady from There's Something about Mary)...not so sexy. So try a self tanner, I like Estee's self tanners, Arbonne has a really nice one with sunblock in it, and I've been hearing rave reviews about Victoria's Secret tint. Note - you must exfoliate first in order for your tan to work...

3. Take care of those gorgeous feet. This is the time of year to go batty over sandals of all sorts and guess where everyone's eyes go - Yep, to your feet! Visit your manicurist for mani/pedis regularly or do them on your own. My new foot fetish...well not really a fetish, but my new foot product fascination is the Ped Egg foot file. This little puppy will keep your feet dead skin free!

4. Flowing, beachey hair. If you've long hair, wash it in the evening, spray on a styler (Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray is a favorite), part your hair in four sections (as you'd like to have your hair fall naturally), braid them and the next morning undo them for flowing waves. If you've naturally curly hair just use the styler and sleep on it.

5. Skin, Skirts and Dresses. We have approximately another 60 days of Summer left. For that time, committ to wearing dresses and skirts whenever you can. Not only is it fashionable but you may as well take advantage of being able to show some skin, because Fall is not that far away and we'll be getting wrapped in tweed and plaid in no time at all. And you may as well revel in being a woman and having the option of wearing skirts and dresses because poor men can't. Well, unless they are British, from an African tribe or part of the cast for La Cage aux Folle.

Because of the popularity of the last music post (and because I’ve had a difficult time writin

Because of the popularity of the last music post (and because I've had a difficult time writing an entry today) I decided to go in that direction again. "But Roach, the more music posts you have the more you seem like Rob Gordon from that movie." Shut your stupid face. I will reiterate that I am attempting to come up with 365 lists. Do you know how many that is? It's 18 times what I have already done. Wait a minute. If I word it that way it doesn't seem too bad. Whatever. Writing that much, often about things I am not particularly fond of, is still a daunting task.

Music for me is what accentuates my mood. Whether I'm happy listening to Miley Cyrus rock out or listening to shoot yourself in the face sad bastard music as I cry myself to sleep, the music I choose amplifies whatever I feel. Before athletic events I would always listen to hardcore gangsta rap to get amped up and have my adrenaline flowing when the game started. In college I would often listen to a Danzig tune to get my blood pumping through my veins as I prepped for a night of hardcore drinking with God's Army. Everyone of us has liked a song, or needed a song, enough to listen to it on repeat. The question is what songs have you listened to more than four times in a row. Ten were on my initial list, but I have managed to whittle them down to these 5:

"Little Waltz" by Basia Bulat - This song entered my playlist early this year and is already the most played by almost a two to one margin. You can actually hear where she begins to lose her voice in the second verse which only exaggerates its somber tone. In no way am I a music critic, but I know when I hear her strained voice speak to the lost love it's hard not to feel the same way. Many a night I have laid in bed repeatedly listening to this song while writing. Sometimes in excess of 30 times in a row. Yeah, it was that bad.

"Bold As Love" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience - While this wasn't on the album I included for my other list, it is by far my favorite song of all time. During the summer of 1994 I would listen to it before I had to go to soccer camp. I hated that camp and detested the 6:30 wake up that went with it. "Bold As Love" got me through those mornings because of what I consider the two greatest guitar solos of all time and they happen to be in the same song. Three distinct parts combine to make this the masterpiece that it is. Liner notes for the CD say the first 1:50 is how you would describe color to a blind person. Close your eyes and use the imagery from the music combined with the lyrics and it's possible to see where that may be an accurate assessment. The next minute of the song is a solo that may not be the most advanced, but is one of the most moving solos I've heard. All I can say about the final 1:21 is that it's brought tears to my eyes on numerous occasions because it strikes such a chord with me. Many times I've tried to verbalize how this portion permeates my very being and many times I have failed. All I can say to try and get you to understand is it's my favorite part of my favorite song.

"PM's Love Theme" by Craig Armstrong - Love Actually is one of those movies I could watch everyday for the rest of my life even though some may consider it Christmas themed. In actuality it's one of the most romantic movies I've come across and, like most films, that has lots to do with the score. If there was a super romantic scene set to the vocal stylings of Ol' Dirty Bastard it wouldn't be quite the same (even though I would thoroughly enjoy it). This song plays an important role in the movie by almost turning into a character. There are several of the most important scenes where it's playing and progressing the story without the help of dialog. Just this song and the movements of the actors tell the story better than any words could. I think this is the reason why it resonates with me and why I listen to it over and over. That and the fact that I am a helpless romantic.

"Steal My Sunshine" by Len - Make fun of me all you want this song is four minutes of pure fun. Deny it if you want I'll be listening to this summer tune while enjoying a beer by the pool.

"Sexyback" by Justin Timberlake - Dancing is one of the abilities I was naturally blessed with. If ever I want to turn someone on I just break out some of my signature moves and it's game over. Somehow Sara, Lauren and I decided it would be a great idea to get our friend Brynn to choreograph a dance for my going away party before I left for CA. Sara is a good dancer especially since she has absolutely no shame when it comes to being in public. Brynn is the girl in high school that was the leader of the dance team. She has enough moves (including her trademark hair toss) to fit in with the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders any day of the week. Lauren is also a good dancer in her own way and she looks damn hot while doing it. Like physically hot. Her face gets really flushed and sometimes she looks like she is about to pass out. There were other friends who were supposed to join in on the fun, but the got cut for not making rehearsals. Group dances are serious business where I am from. Once the principals gathered for practice we needed to choose a song to show off to. It needed to be something that we knew would get played or available on the jukebox for us to play, so we settled on JT's "Sexyback." That night we listened to the song approximately 438 times in a row to get the choreography right. Katie got to the point where she wouldn't allow it to be played anymore because she had her fill. We got it down after a fun filled night of laughing, drinking, and dominating that dance. Where we were when we actually performed the dance I don't remember, but the fun we had and the memories attached to this song make it list worthy.

Songs that were close to making the cut were "Soulja Boy" by Soulja Boy because of the day my friends and I decided to learn the dance, "Fix You" by Coldplay, "Because I Love You" by Lenny Williams, "Crown of Love" by The Arcade Fire, "Say Yeah" by Wiz Kalifah, and "Ne Me Quitte Pas" by Nina Simone. There are so many more I want to mention, but I think I have cheated enough by including these. List 5 songs you have listened to more than four times in a row.
