Esta serie trata de la vida ficticia de Sarah Silverman (su nombre real) junto a su hermana (real también), el novio de esta y dos amigos homosexuales (me carga la palabra "gay" siginifica "alegre" en inglés,  ¿acaso no hay maricones amargados? En fin la usaré igual porque es cómodamente más corta).

La serie gira en torno a su vida, que no es nada del otro mundo, pero ella se encarga de ser el centro de atención de cualquier ridiculez que se le ocurra.  Odia a su cuñado, a su hermana le hace sacar canas verdes y ante sus amigos gays no pierde oportunidad para molestarlos por su condición sexual. Además resulta ser un dolor de cabeza ante cualquiera que se le cruce en su camino, incluso si fuera el mismísimo Jehová que sale en algunos capítulos. (debería escribir YHVH, pero no soy ni cristiano ni judío y aún no sé hablar sin vocales).

La gracia es que ella tiene un humor muy ácido,  políticamente incorrecto (en lo sexual, racial, religioso y social) y escatológico a más no poder, lo cual lo hace bastante atractivo, aunque sólo me gusta en la serie sus canciones fuera de la serie no me gustan son demasiado predecibles y simplistas abusando de la escatología.

Algunos frases y escenas graciosas que recuerdo:

- Estaba Sarah en su sillón absolutamente aburrida y dice "mhhh estoy muy aburrida, necesito buenas noticias. Ajá, me haré un examen del VIH !!!!!!!!!!"

- Ella odia no ser el centro de atención asi como también odia a su cuñado, cuando estaban celebrando el cumpleaños de este, no hayó nada más original para arruinarle la fiesta que decirle a todos "chicos, tengo Sida"

- Sarah reclamando en pijama a la Iglesia vecina porque las campanas de la mañana la habían despertado: "yo creo en la separación de la Iglesia con el Estado, y en estos momentos mi estado debería ser durmiendo!"

- En una campaña para apoyar a la gente con Sida: "Nuestro país envió al primer hombre a la luna, nosotros enviaremos al primer hombre con Sida a la Luna, y así algún día, enviaremos a todos las personas con Sida a la Luna"

- Creo que todas las negras cuando son ancianas, son mujeres muy sabias, pero cuando son jóvenes son prostitutas.

Recomiendo encarecidamente la primera temporada de esta espectacular serie; la segunda no la vi completa, pero en los capítulos que revisé bajó la calidad.

Martes canal Sony a la 1 de la madrugada (horario de mierda para tan buena serie, aunque igual es la segunda temporada)  o en su tienda de DVD's más cercana.

Jimmy and Sarah have and will have no further comment.

There are no rumours of a third party, or anything volatile.  The break up seems clean and amicable at this time.  Both are busy at work and all seems well on each end.

For Sarah Silverman, this has been a week of good news and bad news.

First, the bad: On Monday, it was reported, she and boyfriend of five years, Jimmy Kimmel broke up.

Now, the good: On Thursday Silverman, 37, was one of those lucky enough to be nominated for an Emmy.

But, now for the weird news: the TV Academy nod is linked to what she did on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, an over-the-top music video in which she and the Sexiest Man Alive flaunted their (fictitious and funny) affair to Kimmel, all set to music in a ditty titled, "I'm F------ Matt Damon".

The Emmy nominating committee clearly liked what it heard. Silverman is up for the gold in the category of outstanding original music and lyrics, along with her fellow writer-composers on the ditty Tony Barbieri, Wayne McClammy, Sal Iacono, and Dan Warner.

Their competition for the statuette are those who wrote the song "I Ain't Got No Rhythm" for the Disney Channel's Disney Phineas And Ferb; "The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)" and "Inner City Pressure," both from HBO's Flight of the Conchords; and "Sad Fitty Cent," from FOX's MADtv.

Only, so far, there's been no reaction on her nomination from composer-comedian Silverman.

Since the breakup, in fact, there has been no comment from either Silverman or Kimmel on anything of a personal nature. He made no mention of the split on his show this week.

The Emmys will be handed out Sept. 21.

Wow.

 

Five years.  I know what that's like.  You know why?  Because it's very similar to 4 years and 4 months.  I bet Jimmy Kimmel doesn't have a new girlfriend yet, though.  And Sarah Silverman?  Well, she's fucking Matt Damon, of course. 

 

So, if a couple as fantastic and zany and off-the-wall as SSilv and JKim (I don't know why I just did that) can't pull it together...what the eff is up with all of us?  Now, my ex isn't much of a Jimmy Kimmel, but I'm definitely like a Sarah Silverman.  We're more like We were more like a Sarah Silverman and an Ashton Kutcher.  Maybe that was the problem.

 

A day for mourning all around.

One of my least favorite couples, Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel, are splitsville after five years of dating, their reps confirmed on Monday. No word yet on the reason for the split.

I gotta say though, I'm not surprised. Silverman took up with Kimmel in 2002 while he was still married to his wife (and mother of his two children), Gina. Karma, anyone?

It's no secret I don't care for Silverman. I don't think she's funny at all, and I think her cute-girl-with-a-potty-mouth schtick is tired and lame. Kimmel is certainly funnier, but his comedy is still meh. And they both give off a definite "tool" vibe.

It'll be interesting to find out why they broke up and where they go from here. All I know is Silverman better keep her home-wrecking paws off Matt Damon because even though that video (I'm Fucking Matt Damon) was cute, she doesn't need to go bust up his family too.

That's the way I feel about Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman breaking up. Because in the grand tradition of real-life couples Lucy and Desi and George and Gracie, their union created some hilarious comedy. Though perhaps the nature of the pieces was an early warning sign.

Silverman presented I'm F***ing Matt Damon to Kimmel as a gift in honor of Jimmy Kimmel Live's 5th anniversary (it was originally meant to be aired in November 2007 during Kimmel's birthday show, which never happened due to the WGA strike), and uploads of the video quickly appeared on YouTube in a Lazy Sunday-esque wave.

The choice of partners is deliberate, as Jimmy Kimmel has a long-standing joke feud with Matt Damon (culminating in a rage-filled appearance in September 2006), but who knew that Matt Damon could not only rap, but bust out some 90s-dance-crew moves?

And who knew that Kimmel would raise the bar so dramatically with a follow-up featuring Damon BFF Ben Affleck? I'm F***ing Ben Affleck may start off like a cheap rip-off, but soon afterwards ups the ante, both in an artistic and cast sense: the quasi-official YouTube upload lists Robin Williams, Don Cheadle, Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, Rebecca Romijn, Benji Madden, Joel Madden, Dicky Barrett, Christopher Mintz-Plasse a.k.a. Mclovin, Lance Bass, Dominic Monaghan, Meatloaf, Pete Wentz, Joan Jett, Huey Lewis, Perry Farrell, Macy Gray and Josh Groban. Sure, there are no butterflies. But there is a "We Are The World"-esque chorus and Harrison Ford in a convertible. Advantage: Kimmel.

Of course, Silverman and Kimmel didn't work together on these shorts -- both were directed by Wayne McClammy, a Jimmy Kimmel Live segment director who's parlayed his success into exciting directing gigs. But the established nature of their relationship in the public eye is what gives these pieces the additional kick. What makes "I'm F***ing Matt Damon/Ben Affleck" so much fun is that the humor of the pieces reflect that stage in a romance when all the insecurity is gone, when both partners are so comfortable with each other that they can make these sorts of tasteless jokes. Now that they've broken up, it's just a little sad, to think of the people they are now, um, f***ing.

But maybe there's a chance they got together for one last breakup music video. Everyone knows those are always the best.
