Figuren är skapad av Mega House och kostar ungefär $21 ett pris som jag mer än gärna betalar för denna lilla godbit. Jag vet, det låter kanske larvigt, men det är faktiskt riktigt roligt att faktiskt ha något att samla på, 23 år gammal och samlar på action figurer.

The Strawhat Pirates has eight crew and each of them has their own special ability. From the beginning Luffy searched for his crew members (nakama), he always said that he wants a crew who can do the job that he can't do. For example: When he needed a navigator, he found Nami. When he needed a shipwright, Franky joined. But he doesn't always recruit someone who has special ability. He invited Usopp without any reason. He simply let Robin teamed up just because he believed that Robin is a good person, although Robin considered as the most knowledgeable and experienced one (moreover, she's the only person left who can read the Poneglyphs). Among all the members, I found some of them has the characteristic that make the team solid.
Firstly, I want to talk about Roronoa Zoro. He's the first person who joined the Strawhat Pirates and unofficially, he has become the vice captain of Strawhat Pirates. Although there's no straight words come up that he's the vice captain, his voice and his loyalties to Luffy answered that he is the one who deserve that position.

Zoro's authority

In these pictures, Zoro shows that his opinion matters. Although at first, Nami and Chopper don't agree with his decision to leave Usopp. Zoro can explain that quitting the Strawhat Pirates isn't an easy thing to forgive, and in order to get back Usopp in the team, Usopp needs to apologies of what he has done first. Sanji, Luffy, and the others eventually agree with him. What's funny about this part is Zoro says , "You know what it means an idiot like Luffy to be called our captain." while he's hitting Luffy's head.

His Loyalty saves The Captain

This part is really beautiful. I don't know what Luffy has done to them (Zoro and Sanji) to make them put in Luffy's shoes. Zoro & Sanji was willing to give his life in order to save Luffy. And I think Zoro is deserved to get his name as the title of this chapter: Strawhat Pirates Crew #2: Roronoa Zoro.

2) aclarado lo anterior, continuemos...

Bueno, actualmente en One Piece acaba de terminar esta arca (Thriller Bark) en la que, aparte de derrotar a otro shichibukai (Gecko Moria) , la tripulación logra obtener un nuevo Nakama (amigo, compañero) bastante peculiar (Ya tienen músico :) )

Thriller Bark es el barco mas grande del mundo de one piece, por lo cual es comunmente confundido con una isla flotante, y esta comandado/dirigido por el Shichibukai Gecko Moria, un tipo de aparencia vampirezca y con los poderes de la Kage Kage no Mi (Shadow Shadow Fruit) que lo vuelve capaz de controlar su propia sombra y de robar la de los demas, dejandolos suceptibles a incendiarse y consumirse si la luz del sol los toca.

En esta ocasión la tripulación del flamante thousand sunny tuvo que lidiar con una serie de enemigos que parecian salidos de una pelicula de horror de los años 50's , fantasmas, zombis, vampiros, hombres invisibles, hombres bestia, etc. (no por nada se llama THRILLER bark xD)

Todo empezó después de terminar la aventura de enies lobby, tras encontrarse un barril en el mar que era la carnada para atraer y atrapar barcos piratas a Thriller Bark con el fin de quitarles sus sombras y/o que el doctor Hogback experimente con ellos para que formen parte del ejercito de Moria. Cayendo en la trampa, luffy y cía. pierden sus sombras y deben luchar contra los zombis a los que les implantaron sus propias sombras por recuperarlas.

En el camino se cruzan con Brook, un esqueleto que viviá gracias a la Yomi Yomi no Mi, una fruta que te permitia volver a la vida una vez muerto (solo funciona 1 vez, si te mueres otra vez ya no jala). Al ver a tan estrafalario tipo Luffy lo invitó a la tripulación a pesar de las quejas de Nami, Usop y Choper, que le tenian miedo al principio. Sin embargo la primer vez Brook declinó la oferta ya que tenia un asunto pendiente.

Brook

Resulta ser que Brook era parte de los Rumbar Pirates, y que su sombra habia sido robada por Gecko Moria y puesta en el zombie de un legendario espadachin (que eventualmente seria derrotado por Zoro).

Los Rumba pirates eran un grupo de piratas-músicos de West Blue que se perdieron en una especie de triangulo de las bérmudas en la gran linea y fueron asesinados por un enemigo todavia desconocido. Estos piratas cobran relevancia ya que, mientras viajaban, eran seguidos por una pequeña ballena que se encariño con ellos (especialmente con el afro de Brook) y que, después de entrar a la gran linea, decidieron dejar en el faro de la montaña invertida (creo que asi le pusieron en español) con la promesa de que regresarían por ella después, ya que era demasiado pequeña todavia para sobrevivir los peligros de la gran línea ....

Esa pequeña ballena es Laboon, la ballena que se encontró luffy y cía. dandose de topes con la montaña invertida y que se habia quedado ahi esperando a los piratas que le prometieron que volverian por ella. Obviamente, al conocer la historia de Brook (y luego del desmadre), la tripulación se conmovió y no le puso peros para aceptarlo como el octavo miembro de la tripulación al final de esa aventura y ya con sus sombras de regreso.

Es un arca entretenida, con batallas interesantes, y personajes graciosos como solo Oda puede hacerlos. De lo mejor me quedo con lo Pro que es Zoro, derrotó a un espadachin legendario, encontró una nueva espada y demostró lo chingón que es al salvarlos del shichibukai Bartholomew Kuma, el cuál se sorprendió de su temple al recibir todo el daño que luffy tenía.

Que Ussop haya usado su "negativismo" como ventaja contra la comandante de los fantasmas fue muy gracioso. Y la pelea de la tripulación contra Oz (u Odr), el zombie gigante que tenia la sombra de luffy, fue genial, sobre todo por el hecho de que ahora todos se involucraron directamente en la pelea y trabajaron en equipo para derrotarlo.

Y pues, lo emotivo se lo llevo lo de laboon y Brook. La forma en que Oda agregó a Brook fue bastante natural, no se nota como un personaje incrustrado y/o que se relacionó con uno anterior con la escusa de darle mas fondo a la historia o alguna cuecada de esas (como lo de madara en naruto :P )

No es la mejor arca que ha tenido One piece hasta la fecha, pero en general es buena y cumple bien con lo que nos tiene acostumbrados el autor: acción, buen humor y su toque no tan chocante de emotivismo :)

Ahora el camino parece incierto, por un lado tenian planeado ir a la isla de los merman (sirenos? :s) pero por otro, acaban de descubrir que la vida de Ace (recuerden que peleó contra Blackbeard y al parecer perdió) está desvaneciendose, asi que tal vez se desvien para intentar ayudarlo...

Riwayat

Cita-cita Zoro adalah menjadi pendekar pedang terkuat di dunia yang menjadi cita-cita Kuina juga, sahabat semasa kecilnya.

Masa lalu

Zoro kecil adalah seorang murid dari perguruan kendo milik ayah Kuina, Koushiro. Zoro ketika masih kecil menggunakan dua pedang, dan sangat terlatih dia bahkan bisa mengalahkan orang dewasa. Satu-satunya orang yang tidak bisa dikalahkan Zoro adalah Kuina, anak gadis sang guru. Zoro dikalahkan Kuina sampai 1000 kali, sampai pada akhirnya Zoro menantang Kuina untuk bertanding dengan pedang sungguhan. Zoro kemudian kalah lagi dan menangis. Setelah itu Kuina memberitahu Zoro kalau pada akhirnya wanita-lah yang akan lemah disaat mereka menjadi dewasa, kelak dia akan dikalahkan Zoro. Kemudian Zoro kembali berkata pada Kuina kalau dia tidak boleh bicara seperti itu dan berjanji agar terus bertanding sampai siapa di antara mereka berdua yang menjadi pendekar pedang terkuat.

Esok paginya, Kuina meninggal karena jatuh dari tangga rumahnya. Zoro marah dan menganggap kalau Kuna ingin ingkari perjanjian tersebut. Pada akhirnya Zoro menangis sambil meminta pedang milik Kuina dan berjanji untuk meneruskan cita-citanya. Pedang milik Kuina adalah yang ada di mulutnya, Wadou Ichimonji, termasuk 21 pedang tertajam di dunia.

Kisah ini muncul pada cerita bagian Morgan pada manga-nya dan muncul secara terpotong pada cerita bagian Kuro pada anime-nya.

Ketika beranjak dewasa, Zoro mulai meninggalkan tempat tinggalnya dan mencari orang yang dikabarkan sebagai pendekar pedang terhebat di dunia, Juraquille Mihawk salah seorang anggota Shichibukai.

Zoro mengarungi lautan dan untuk bertahan hidup, dia memperoleh uang dari hasil memburu bajak laut yang berada di daftar buruan pemerintah. Pada saat inilah Zoro bertemu dua orang pemburu hadiah kecil bernama Johnny dan Yosaku. Mereka bekerjasama dengan Zoro sebentar. Nama Zoro juga menyebar sampai ke teinga Baroque Works dan mereka mengirim agen (Mr.7) untuk meminta agar Zoro bergabung. Zoro setuju untuk bergabung asalkan ia dijadikan sebagai pimpinan Baroque Works, namun Mr. 7 menolak sehingga terjadi pertempuran antara keduanya; yang kemudian dimenangkan oleh Zoro.

Zoro kemudian ditangkap angkatan laut karena membunuh serigala milik Helmeppo (Soro), putra kapten Angkatan Laut Morgan.

Nama Zoro sang pemburu perompak sangat terkenal di East Blue, bajak laut besar mengenalinya seperti Arlong dan Krieg.

Zoro Si Bajak Laut

Zoro diselamatkan oleh Luffy ketika akan dieksekusi oleh Morgan. Zoro akhirnya bergabung dengan Luffy yang semenjak pertama memaksa Zoro agar bergabung. Zoro adalah andalan kedua keompok bajak laut topi jerami setelah Luffy. Zoro berkedudukan sebagai pendekar pedang. Berkat bergabung dengan Luffy, Zoro akhirnya bisa menemukan Mihawk dan bertarung dengannya meskipun kalah. Sebagai bajak laut, Zoro masuk daftar buruan dengan harga 60 juta berry karena telah mengalahkan Dazz Bones si pembunuh besar dan 100 orang pemburu hadiah di pulau kaktus Whiskey Peak. Dan dengan julukan seperti sebelumnya, Zoro si pemburu perompak.

Keahlian dan Kekuatan

Zoro adalah pendekar pedang yang berbakat, dapat menggunakan satu, dua, atau tiga pedang dengan cekatan. Karena dia tidak punya "tangan ketiga", Zoro menggunakan mulut untuk membawa pedang ketiganya. Membuatnya menciptakan seni berpedangnya sendiri, santoryuu (seni tiga pedang). Zoro punya kekuatan dan kecepatan yang luar biasa, terlihat seperti di cerita dia dapat membelah gerbong kereta api, mengangkat bongkahan batu besar dan meletakkan di kedua tangannya atau mengangkat tubuh Dalton. Zoro juga punya stamina yang sangat abnormal, dalam setiap pertempuran, Zoro kehilangan terlalu banyak darah dan masih sanggup bertempur dalam waktu yang lama. • Oni Giri (pembasmi iblis) Zoro menyilangkan dua pedang di depan dadanya dan bergerak maju dengan cepat, pedang yang dimulut yang akan memberi kerusakan besar. Oni Giri jika dibaca bersamaan menjadi onigiri yaitu nasi kepal ciri khas Jepang. Digunakan pertama kali melawan Cabaji.
• Tora Gari (pemburu harimau) Zoro memegang pedangnya sejajar dengan mulut dan mengayunkannya kebawah. Digunakan pertama kali ketika melawan kucing bersaudara, Buchi dan Sham.
• Santoryuu Ougi:San-Zen-Se-Kai (Seluk beluk rahasia tiga pedang:3000 dunia) Zoro memegang pedang dan menyatukan keduanya lalu memutarkannya dengan cepat. Zoro kemudian menyerbu musuh dengan sangat cepat dalam posisi seperti ini. Sampai sekarang jurus ini adalah yang paling kuat walaupun hanya digunakan sekali ketika melawan Mihawk.
• Tourou Nagashi (Darah Serigala) Sebuah serangan balik. Zoro memutarkan badannya untuk menghindari serangan, kemudian dua pedang yang memblokir menerjang setelah zoro maju kedepan. Jurus ini menjadi salah satu special move Zoro dalam video game. Digunakan pertama melawan Hachi.
• Tatsu Maki (Putaran angin naga) Zoro berputar dengan pedangnya mengakibatkan angin keluar ke atas seperti naga. Pertama digunakan melawan Hachi. Luka yang diakibatkan tidak dalam kecuali jika korban serangan bergerak.
• Yaki Oni Giri (api pembasmi iblis) Sama seperti Oni Giri, tetapi kali ini pedang Zoro terbakar, pertama kali digunakan dalam cerita Little Garden.
• Ushi Bari (serudukan banteng) Zoro mengarahkan pedang ditangannya ke lawan dan membentuk seperti banteng, kemudian menusukkan pedang ke musuh berkali-kali di akhiri serangan pedang di mulut. Pertama digunakan melawan Dazz Bones atau Mr.1
• Gazami Dori (capit kepiting) Semua pedang Zoro diarahkan paralel dan mengarahkan ke musuh seperti akan memenggal kepala. Digunakan ketika melawan Mr.1
• Hyaku Hachi Pound Hou (Meriam 108 pound) sama seperti 36 pound hou kali ini menggunakan 3 pedang. Digunakan ketika melawan Ohm sang pendeta.
• Karasuma Gari (Pemburu Gagak) Zoro melompat dan memilah-milah target dengan cepat. Digunakan ketika diserang puluhan meriam. Walaupun termasuk "pembelah besi", serangan ini bukan Iai. Digunakan saat melawan keluarga Franky.
• Gyuuki Yuzume (Cakar maut sapi iblis) Zoro mengarahkan pedangnya ke musuh dan menerjang dengan kuat, digunakan ketika melawan kapten T-Bone. Serangan ini menggambarkan Sapi Iblis.
• Enbima Yonezu Onigiri (Tebasan Iblis Cantik) Sama seperti oni giri, tapi saat Zoro menggunakan jurus ini, pedangnya seperti berkelok-kelok, dan menciptakan bayangan iblis di sekitarnya. Efek dari bengkoknya pedang yaitu kerusakan yang lebih besar terhadap musuh dan jangkauan serangnya lebih luas.

Ilmu berpedang nitouryuu adalah ilmu berpedang menggunakan dua pedang

• Taka Nami (gelombang elang) ketika sedang di udara, Zoro menciptakan serangan angin lewat kedua pedangnya. Digunakan pertama kali saat melawan Hachi.
• Sai Kuru (Cycle/Serbuan badak) zoro memegang dua pedangnya mengarahkan ke atas dan berputar. Hampir sama dengan Tatsu Maki. Digunakan saat melawan keluarga Franky.
• Nitouryuu Iai: Rashoumon (Ilmu menghunus dua pedang: Rashoumon) Zoro menghunus pedangnya (ilmu Iai) dan membelah benda besar didepannya. Digunakan ketika membelah gerbong Puffing Tom.

Ilmu berpedang ittouryuu adalah ilmu berpedang menggunakan satu pedang.

• Ittouryuu Iai: Shishi Sonson (Ilmu menghunus satu pedang: Nyanyian Singa) Satu pedang Zoro diputarbaikkan dan Zoro dengan cepat menghunus pedangnya dan menyerang kemudian mengembalikannya. Digunakan ketika mengalahkan Dazz Bones.
• 36 Pound Cannon(Meriam 36 Pound) Zoro "menyerang" udara sehingga udara akan berbalik dan menyerang musuh.

Ilmu mutouryuu adalah ilmu berpedang tanpa pedang, hanya digunakan pada Davy Back Fight ketika ronde Groggy Ring dimana dia tidak boleh memakai senjata.

• Tatsu Maki (putaran angin naga) sama seperti tatsu maki normal, hanya kali ini tanpa pedang, digunakan untuk melawan Big Pan.

Ilmu combo Zoro dimana Zoro menyerang bersama dengan temannya

• Maki Whip Shoot (tendangan cambuk putaran angin) Zoro mengeluarkan Tatsu Maki, Luffy dengan gomu gomu no muchi dan sanji dengan epaule shoot menyerang secara bersamaan dan menjatuhkan benda/monster raksasa. Digunakan ketika menghabisi kadal shandora.
• Armee De L'Air: Power Shoot (angkatan udara: Power Shoot) Zoro meloncat ke kaki sanji, dan Sanji menendang ke depan dengan keras sehingga Zoro menghantam musuh dengan amat keras. Digunakan ketika mengakhiri Groggy Ring.
• Gomu Gomu no 300 Pound Cannon (gomu gomu meriam 300 pound Luffy mengeluarkan Gomu gomu no cannon dan Zoro mengeluarkan 108 pound cannon secara bersamaan untuk menghantam benda besar seperti gelombang Aqua Laguna.

Planeta DeAgostini publica el manga en España, en México era publicado por Editoral Tōkan.

El manga se sigue editando en Japón desde 1997 y lleva editados un total de 46 tankōbons (volúmenes recopilatorios) editados, sin un final cercano por el momento, mientras que el anime lleva desde 1999 emitiendo 319 episodios hasta la fecha.

Cabe destacar la gran aceptación japonesa respecto a esta serie, ya que el tomo 24 del manga ha conseguido el récord de mayor número de ventas de la historia del manga en la primera tirada, superando al récord que mantenía los tomos 21 y 23 de Slam Dunk. También cabe contar que por parte de la versión animada existen 8 películas emitidas y 4 especiales de TV de una hora cada uno.

Personajes

* Monkey D. Luffy o "Sombrero de Paja", es el hombre de goma, debido a que posee el poder de la Gomu Gomu no Mi (Fruta Goma Goma), fruta que le permite estirar y manejar su cuerpo de goma. Es el capitán del barco. Su sueño es ser el rey de los piratas y cuando era joven le prometió a su amigo Shanks el pelirrojo (un afamado pirata) que de mayor tendría una gran tripulación. Recompensa actual: 300 millones de Berries.

* Roronoa Zoro o "el cazador de piratas Zoro". Es un hábil guerrero que tras un gran entrenamiento, es capaz de luchar con tres espadas a la vez, dos en las manos y una con los dientes. Es de carácter muy reservado. Sigue a Luffy desde que éste le rescata tras ser apresado por la Marina. En el Baratie tiene un encuentro con Mihawk el ojo de halcón, su rival a superar, y pierde la pelea .Su sueño es lograr convertirse en el mejor espadachín del mundo y no caer vencido ante cualquier oponente nunca más en su vida. Recompensa actual: 120 millones de Berries.

* Nami "la gata ladrona", es la navegante gracias a su habilidad de dibujar mapas. También es una ladrona pero al principio es más por juntar 100 millones de beries para salvar a su pueblo natal que estaba bajo el poder de los piratas de Arlong. Sueña con poder dibujar un mapa de todo el mundo, el cual recorrerá con su tripulación. Recompensa actual: 16 millones de Berries.

* Usopp es el tirador del barco gracias a su gran puntería y su habilidad con la maquinaria. Es un personaje "mentiroso y cobarde", excepto si tiene que defender a alguien más débil. Consiguieron el barco "Going Merry" en el que viajan gracias a Kaya, una amiga suya de su pueblo natal. Su meta es convertirse en un gran guerrero de los mares, por lo que de vez en cuando se da a conocer como "Captain Usopp". En el arco de Water Seven se pelea con Luffy debido a la decisión de dejar el Going Merry y dejará la tripulación, más tarde se volverá a colaborar con ellos bajo el nombre de Sogeking "Rey de los Tiradores". Recompensa actual (para Sogeking): 30 millones de Berries.

* Sanji o "Sanji el Pies Negros". es el cocinero del barco. Elegante de pelo rubio y muy ligón, se fue con Luffy en su aventura para conseguir encontrar el legendario océano All Blue, en el que se cuenta que se pueden encontrar especies marinas de cualquiera de los otros océanos (North Blue, South Blue, East Blue y West Blue). Sanji se enamora de cualquier mujer bella, incluidas Nami y Robin.Uno de sus sueños era comer la huro huro no mi que le haria invisible para poder espiar a las chicas en el baño.. que diga para salvar al mundo.Recompensa actual: 77 millones de Berries.

* Tony Tony Chopper o "Chopper el que adora el algodón de azúcar", es un reno que obtuvo el poder de ser humano gracias a la Hito Hito no Mi (Fruta Hombre Hombre). Es el médico de la tripulación y su país natal es el país de Drum, lugar en el que conoció a su "mentor", el curandero Hiruluk y a su maestra, la doctora Kureha (a la que llama "doctorine"). Después de que Luffy venciese al rey Wapol que atormentaba su país natal Chopper decide ir con la banda de Sombrero de Paja para convertirse en el mejor doctor, el que pueda curar cualquier enfermedad, incluso un corazón roto. Recompensa actual: 50 Berries.

* Nico Robin "la niña demonio", también conocida como Miss All Sunday, es una arqueóloga en búsqueda y captura por los Marines desde los 8 años. Su deseo es conocer la Verdadera Historia, recopilada en grandes bloques de piedra llamados Poneglyph, cuyo enlace entre ellos se llama Rio Poneglyph. Obtuvo el poder de multiplicar partes de su cuerpo donde quiera gracias a la Hana Hana no Mi (Fruta Flor Flor). Recompensa actual: 80 millones de Berries.

* Franky "el cyborg", debido a daños en su cuerpo él mismo lo reconstruyó con partes metálicas y de todo tipo de materiales, por lo cual es parte androide, esto le permite hacer todo tipo de cosas como utilizar armas dentro de su cuerpo. Él es un formidable ingeniero naval, el cual custodiaba los planos de una de las armas más poderosas del mundo, Pluton. Personajes Secundarios (amigos)

* Shanks "el pelirrojo", es un capitán pirata al que Luffy conoció durante su infancia. Su forma de ser fue la que impulsó a Luffy a convertirse en pirata para seguir los pasos de su héroe. El sombrero de paja que lleva Luffy fue un regalo de Shanks como prueba de amistad. Shanks también pertenece al Yonkō (uno de los tres grandes poderes de Grand Line, aparte de los Shichibukai y el Cuartel General de la Marina) y formó parte de la tripulación de Roger junto con Buggy. Como uno de los hombres mas buscados por la marina y el gobierno mundial pesa sobre él la increíble recompensa de 700 millones de berries.

* Kaya es una amiga de Usopp que sueña con ser médico algún día. Cayó en una depresión por la muerte de sus padres de la que se curó gracias a las mentiras que Usopp le contaba cada día desde su ventana. Su mayordomo Merry regalará a Luffy y sus amigos su barco el Going Merry.

* Gaimon es un pirata que vive en una isla habitada por animales extraños. Debido a su ambición por los tesoros tuvo un accidente por el cual se encuentra metido en un cofre.

* Nefertari Vivi, también conocida como Miss Wednesday es la hija de Nefertari Cobra, rey de Arabasta, se unió a la Baroque Works para poder descubrir los puntos débiles de Crocodile.

* Portgas D. Ace, apodado "Puño de Fuego", es el hermano mayor de Luffy, probó la fruta Mera Mera, que le permite transformarse en fuego y controlarlo. Es el 2º capitán de abordo de la tripulación de Barbablanca y el capitán del segundo barco de Barbablanca. Cuando se encontró con su hermano en Arabasta le dio una nota con la promesa de reencontrarse nuevamente. Tiene una recompensa de 200 millones.

* Galley-La: Una compañía de carpinteros célebres por sus grandes habilidades tanto en carpintería como en combate. Los carpinteros Pauly, Tilestone y Peepley Lulu asistieron a los "Sombrero de Paja" en su ataque a Enies Lobby. Más tarde, asistieron a Franky y Iceberg en la construcción del Thousand Sunny, la nueva embarcación de los "Sombrero de Paja".

* Franky Family: La pandilla de desmanteladores que formó Franky y que ayudaron a los "Sombrero de Paja" en su ataque a la isla judicial del Gobierno Mundial: Enies Lobby.

* Brook conocido como el "Esqueleto caballeroso" o "Hanauta" (tarareador), es uno de los piratas que habitan en el Florian Triangle, su primera aparición fue en el capitulo 442, el mismo capitulo en el que Luffy le pidió ser Nakama. Brook aceptó aunque luego se rectificó. Brook comió la Yomi Yomi No Mi, la cual le permite resucitar una vez a cambio de perder la capacidad de nadar, Brook ya hizo uso de esta habilidad aunque tardo en recuperar su cuerpo y para cuando lo encontró ya era un esqueleto (aunque con pelo a lo afro).

Antagonistas (piratas y marines)

* Alvida se trata de una capitana pirata que trata cruelmente a sus subordinados y se considera a sí misma como la más bella de los mares. Es la primera capitana pirata a la que se enfrenta nuestro protagonista. Tras ser vencida, tomará la fruta "Sube Sube no Mi"(su cuerpo se vuelve resbaladizo) con la que cambiará notablemente su físico. Su principal arma es una gran maza muy pesada.

* Morgan "Mano de Hacha es un capitán de la Marina muy fuerte cuyo brazo derecho ha sido sustituido por un hacha. Como si fuera un dictador obliga al pueblo donde se encuentra a pagar impuestos muy altos como prueba de respeto a su persona y condena a muerte a cualquiera que pueda cuestionar su poder.

* Buggy el payaso es un capitán pirata que ha probado la Bara Bara no Mi (Bara Bara es una onomatopeya japonesa para el sonido de trocear) y esto le permite descomponer su cuerpo en partes y volver a recomponerlo como si fuera un puzle. Bajo sus órdenes tiene a los piratas circenses de los que destacan especialmente dos: Mojhi y Kabaji, que son el domador de fieras y el acróbata respectivamente.

* Kuro o Captain Kuro, ex-capitán de los piratas Kuroneko. Bajo el nombre falso de Kurahadol este fue acogido como mayordomo de la familia de Kaya. Sus intenciones son apoderarse de las herencia de Kaya y comenzar una nueva vida alejado de su pasado valiéndose para ello de un plan cuidadosamente elaborado durante 3 años. Utiliza su "paso silencioso" y sus guantes de gato para vencer a sus enemigos.

* Jango, en su época de pirata fue apodado "1-2 Jango", trabaja a las órdenes del capitán Kuro y más tarde adopto el papel de capitán de la banda. Su habilidad es hipnotizar a la gente (y algunas veces a sí mismo) con sus chakram. Actualmente es miembro de la Marina al cargo de la capitana Hina y ha cambiado su apodo a "Jango el traicionero".

* Don Krieg es llamado "El terror de East Blue", en su camino hacia Grand Line se topó con Delacure Mihawk, el cual destruyó casi toda su flota. Siempre lleva puesta una armadura de acero Wootz cargada de armas que le proporciona toda su potencia de combate.

* Gin es el primero de abordo de Krieg, el admira mucho a Don Kieg hasta el punto en que los sueños y deseos de Krieg se convierten en los suyos(como ir a "Grand Line"), su forma de ver la vida cambia después de ser salvado de la muerte por inanición por Sanji.

* Arlong (Arlong Escualo en la versión española) es el jefe de una banda pirata Gyojin (la cual antes perteneció a Jinbe uno de los actuales "Shichibukai"). Con el pretexto de que su raza es superior a la humana se dedica a cobrar desorbitados impuestos a cambio de su vida a los habitantes de la isla donde estableció su base de operaciones.

* Smoker es un capitán de la Marina en la ciudad de Logue con el poder de la Moku Moku no Mi (Moku Moku es una onomatopeya japonesa que representa el sonido de las nubes o el humo). Su odio hacia los piratas le impulsará a iniciar una persecución tras "la banda del sombrero de paja" hacia Grand Line.

* Baroque Works es una organización criminal secreta que cuenta con un gran número de miembros entre sus filas.

* Ouka Shichibukai: Uno de los tres grandes poderes del Grand Line. Esta conformado por 7 de los más poderosos piratas que hicieron un trato con el Gobierno Mundial, este les quitaría las recompensas sobre sus cabezas a cambio de que se encargaran de vigilar otros piratas.

* Bellamy "La Hiena" es la viva imagen del clásico pirata. No tiene ninguna fantasía como las de Luffy, como la Isla del Cielo (Skypiea) o el One Piece. Comió la Bane Bane no Mi (sonido de muelle) que le permite convertir sus extremidades (pies) en muelles y conseguir saltos de gran altura.

* Marshall D. Teach "Barbanegra" es el pirata que persigue Portgas D. Ace, y su fuerza es comparable con la de Barbablanca. Ha comido la Yami Yami no Mi (oscuridad-oscuridad).

* God Enel es el dios de la isla del cielo (Skypiea). Comió una de las frutas Logia, la Goro Goro no Mi.

* Cipher Pol es una organización al cargo del Gobierno Mundial, dividida en 8 agencias y una novena secreta.

* Monkey D. Garp también conocido como "Garp el puño" es un vicealmirante de la marina, considerado un héroe que se enfrentó al Rey de los Piratas. Es el abuelo de Luffy y padre de Dragon.

* Monkey D. Dragon: es el padre de Ace y Luffy. Actualmente dirige el grupo llamado los "Revolucionarios", con suficiente poder como para oponerse al gobierno mundial. Salvó a Luffy de Smoker en Loguetown.

* Pellona Princesa de los ghost fantasmagóricos que maneja en la isla de Thriller Bark.

Akuma no Mi

También conocidas como "Frutas del Diablo", estas misteriosas frutas dan un poder extraordinario a quien las come, pero tiene una debilidad, y es que la persona que la come no puede nadar, pues se hunde en el mar como si fuera una piedra, por lo que aquellos que pierden la capacidad de nadar en la serie son llamados por todos "martillos". Aparte del agua del mar, hay otra cosa que hace que pierdan sus poderes, el contacto con un mineral llamado Kairōseki (piedra marina).

Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro (ロロノア・ゾロ, Roronoa Zoro^?), also known as Roronoa Zolo, is a fictional character in the anime and manga series One Piece by Eichiro Oda.

Being the second member of the Straw Hat Pirates and the first mate, he had a bounty of 60 million Belli after the Alabasta Arc, which was raised to 120 million after the events of Enies Lobby. According to Oda, Zoro resembles a shark.^[1] Oda uses the color green to represent Zoro, and he smells of steel.^[2] Zoro is also left handed.

Originally, the American version of the manga(VIZ) spelled his name as "Roronoa Zoro", but it was changed to "Zolo" in chapter 50. His family name, Roronoa, comes from the real-life French pirate François l'Ollonais.^[3] The name "Zoro" comes from the Japanese "zorome", meaning a palindrome (a sequence that is the same backwards and forwards), since his birthday is November 11 (11/11).

Zoro is a skilled swordsman who fights with santōryū, three daito katana, and his own unique fighting style. Though not a samurai, he appears to maintain a certain degree of bushido, and is frequently mistaken for one. Unlike Luffy and most of the other Straw Hat pirates, Zoro has been known to kill his opponents if he has to, though never in cold blood.

Eiichiro Oda stated that he made Zoro as a bodyguard of Buggy in earlier versions of the story. However, he scrapped that idea for the final version of One Piece.^[4]

[edit] Personality and relationships

Zoro has a stern, serious and distanced personality, but unlike Robin he often reacts in a goofy and exaggerated comic style due to his gruff, impatient attitude. On the ship, he normally either trains with weights or sleeps. The only work he is seen doing regularly is hoisting the anchor using his great strength. He also likes sake, almost to the degree that Luffy likes meat, but like Nami, he never gets drunk due to his inhumanly-high endurance and tolerance for alcohol. Another notable trait is his lack of orientation, as Zoro often gets lost, even in small, familiar spaces or when being led by someone. Despite this, he is often the first to sense an enemy or danger, and the first to react. He is often displayed as being well aware of dangerous situations and people around him as well as harsh but true facts.

Zoro often reminds others of those harsh facts, such as his speech to Chopper in the Davy Back Fight arc before the Groggy Ring match, reminding him that it was his choice to go to sea and to "be a man" and more recently, his speech concerning accepting Usopp back into the crew, stating that if Luffy went back on his word the crew couldn't rely on him. While speaking out like this shocks some of the other crew members, he usually ends up being right. Zoro has proclaimed himself an atheiest because the only being he's ever believed in his himself. He often comes across as arrogant and overconfident, but only because he knows he's a strong man with great fighting ability. Even so, Zoro acknowledges that he still has a lot of untapped potential, and is constantly seen training and trying to improve his fighting skills. Zoro also adheres to a strict swordmaster's code of honor, and never falsely brags or lies about his abilities, sometimes outright admitting a weakness, even to an enemy. He also never runs from a battle, and rarely uses trickery to win, believing that doing so is cowardly and scorning anyone who uses such tactics too often. Zoro is very vigorous, strong-willed, and determined. On Little Garden, he attempted to slice off his feet to escape death and return to a battle, resulting in scars around both his ankles.

While he doesn't show it, he holds all of his crewmates in high regard and despite his focus on his dream he loves being a Straw Hat and has grown accustomed to his life as a pirate. There has been a strong rivalry between Zoro and Sanji ever since they met on the Baratie. They are constantly trying to outdo each other and often get into comical physical and verbal fights over petty matters at very inopportune moments, such as during the Davy Back Fight. When they work together in combat, however, they make a terrifying team. Zoro also holds a grudge against Nami, as she has blackmailed Zoro many times and he considers her a manipulative thief. Nevertheless, he helps and protects her whenever she's in any real danger, just like with any other of his crewmates. Zoro has a unique relationship with Ensign Tashigi of the Marines. Tashigi and Zoro met in Loguetown, where she helped him search for a new katana. She is opposed to Zoro, as she is marine, and dreams of taking legendary swords (such as Zoro's Wado Ichimonji) away from pirates and bounty hunters. Zoro, however, cannot fight her due to her resemblance to Kuina. Whenever he sees her, he screams and runs away.

Zoro is the swordsman of the crew, and therefore normally fights other swordsmen of enemy groups such as Cabaji the Acrobat in the Buggy the Clown arc or Mr. 1 in the Alabasta arc. His goal is to become the world's best swordsman. To accomplish this, he has to defeat Dracule Mihawk who, as of now in the story, holds the title. He confronted Mihawk once during the Baratie arc but lost to a 6 inch knife and was left with the huge scar on the front of his torso, which was caused by Mihawk's Black Sword (Großes Messer). After his defeat Zoro vowed never again to lose in terms of swordsmanship to anyone. This is one of the very few scenes in which Zoro is seen crying. Zoro's preoccupation with his swordsmanship is so great that he usually shows little interest in anything outside this narrow focus. When Zoro has the intention to fight seriously, he normally ties his trademark black bandana (which is usually tied around his left upper arm) over his head.

Zoro spent his childhood training in a dojo. How he became a student of that dojo was not explained in the manga, but was in the anime. When Zoro was a young boy, he challenged the dojo to a match with its strongest person in order to test his strength, even though he had no experience in sword-fighting whatsoever. He made a deal with the dojo master, saying that if he won, he'd take their school sign. If he lost, he'd join the dojo. However, instead of fighting against the dojo master as he'd expected, Zoro ended up fighting against the master's daughter, Kuina, who was only two years older than Zoro. Kuina defeated Zoro with one blow, and he ended up joining the dojo.

After training in the dojo for a short time, 11-year-old Zoro had become adept in fighting with two swords and was now strong enough to defeat the dojo's adults. However, there was one person Zoro still could not beat - Kuina. Frustrated, he tried to get stronger, pushing himself to his limits in training every day, seemingly to no avail. After their 2000th fight (and Kuina's 2000th victory) Zoro challenged her in private for one more match - with real swords. He lost. Afterwards. Zoro cried out of frustration; he couldn't fulfill his dream of becoming the world's best swordsman if he couldn't beat Kuina. After Zoro stated this, Kuina started to cry as well, explaining that she wanted to be the best swordsman too, but her father had said that girls can't be master swordsmen since they will mature to be physically weaker than males. This angered Zoro. He yelled at Kuina that this wasn't true, that she could still beat him, and that training so hard to defeat someone who'd become weaker than him made him look bad. Zoro swore that the day he defeats Kuina, it'd be because he trained hard and grew stronger, not because she grew weaker. This made Kuina feel better and she decided to continue chasing her dreams. Inspired, the two made a promise: that both would grow stronger, and one day, one of them would eventually become the world's best swordmaster.

The next day, Kuina dies falling down the stairs to the basement while looking for her whetstone. Zoro attends her funeral procession without crying, showing his mourning instead by training more vigorously and desperately than ever.

• Note: In the English dub by 4Kids, this scene was censored and instead she was written to have been badly hurt by a group from a nearby town and was unable to fight anymore.

Later, Zoro's sensei, Kuina's father, had a private conversation with Zoro, saying that Zoro's presence had inspired her to train harder and become stronger than ever before. He said that because of Zoro, Kuina had begun breaking down the physical barriers that prevented a swordswoman from becoming the greatest. Though he doesn't specifically say so, it is clear that Kuina's father regrets telling his daughter that she couldn't be the best on the basis of her gender alone. Upon hearing this, Zoro cries for the first time since Kuina's death, and begs his sensei for Kuina's sword, so that he may achieve their shared dream of becoming the best swordsman for the both of them, and travel from then on with her memory beside him. His sensei agreed, and gave him the Wado Ichimonji, and Zoro begins training in Santōryū, three-sword style.

Several years later, Zoro, now a teenager, is seen using santōryū to destroy rocks. He then prays at Kuina's gravestone with his sensei one final time before setting out on his journey to become the world's best swordsman.

In the manga, Zoro's past is much shorter, not explaining how Zoro came to be a student at the dojo. It also does not include any of the young Zoro's training scenes, Kuina's funeral procession, the sensei's conversation with Zoro about Kuina's growing strength, and Zoro's last visit to Kuina's grave before he began traveling the East Blue. These scenes were all added into the anime.

[edit] Life on the seas

Zoro went to sea, looking to find and challenge Mihawk, the current strongest swordsman in the world. However, he somehow got lost at sea and was unable to find his way back to his island. Since swordfighting is more or less Zoro's only skill, he made money by catching wanted pirates and turning them in for their bounties, becoming known as the terrifyingly strong "Pirate-Hunter Zoro". Because of his reputation, Zoro was offered a position and a number in Baroque Works because of his bounty hunting skills, but declined when he was not allowed to "be the boss". Afterwards, he killed the person who offered, the late Mr. 6 of Baroque Works.

A moment of kindness landed Zoro in trouble with Helmeppo, the wimpy son of the Marine captain Axe-Hand Morgan. Zoro joined Monkey D. Luffy's crew after being saved from execution from the Marines, and is now one of Luffy's crew as the first mate. Holding onto his dream of becoming the greatest swordsman in the world, he told Luffy that he only joined him to avoid dying before achieving his dream. Zoro swore that if being on Luffy's crew ever got in the way of this dream, he'd kill him. Luffy simply smiled and said that as the future Pirate King, he wanted no one other than the strongest swordsman in the world on his crew.

In Loguetown, Zoro acquired the Kitetsu III and the Yubashiri to replace the swords that'd been destroyed during his battle with Mihawk.

During the Alabasta arc, it was revealed that Zoro had yet to learn to cut steel. This caused a major problem for him during the Baroque Works Saga during his fights against Mr. 3 and Mr. 1. During his fight with Mr. 1, he discovered the Shishi Sonson (Lion's Breathe) attack, which allowed him to cut through virtually anything by focusing the ki in his sword. On the brink of death, Zoro used this attack right when Mr. 1 was about to deliver the finishing blow, defeating the Baroque Works agent and achieving his goal of cutting steel.

During the Enies Lobby arc, Zoro's Yubashiri was destroyed by a Marine who'd eaten the Rust-Rust Devil Fruit.

As Merry fell apart and Luffy and the crew gave her a Viking funeral, he continued to show his signature tough guy attitude by standing staunchly and not shedding any tears. He was later seen staring at the broken hilt of his sword wondering what he should do.

In Chapter 435, he was seen trying to buy a sword but had no money and was thrown out. Shortly after, Zoro's new bounty is revealed to be 120 Million Beli.

In Chapter 438 the Straw Hats discussed whether or not to allow Usopp to rejoin the crew. During this scene, Zoro gives an emotional rebuttal including the following points:

• Luffy and Usopp settled their conflict with an honorable duel.
• Usopp lost, and "left on his own terms".
• Luffy would be breaking his word if he allowed Usopp to return without an apology
• If Zoro cannot trust Luffy, he will "cause a fight and leave".

Interestingly, when Usopp does show up and the first thing he does is pretend the duel was just a joke, both Luffy and Zoro pretend not to hear it, and Zoro is later seen smiling after Usopp repents and rejoins the crew.

[edit] Recent chapters

Zoro stayed on Thousand Sunny when Luffy, Nami and Sanji went to investigate the ghost ship. When they come back with Brook, Zoro shows extreme dislike for Brook and is shocked by Luffy's impulsive decision. When Brook explains his unique condition, Zoro seems to be suspicious about his story. Later, Zoro joins Luffy in boarding "Thriller Bark" where they meet a Cerberus. Along with Sanji, Zoro discourages Luffy from asking a couple of zombies to join their crew. While in Hogback's mansion, Zoro disappears not long after Sanji does. Later, a zombie was shown attacking Robin, Luffy, and Franky with Zoro's Ishitoryu: 36-Pound-Cannon attack. However, the zombie's body was that of a man who died protecting his family at the age of 59. After Gecko Moria revealed the extent of his powers, it is now believed that the zombie received Zoro's shadow, which in turn gave him Zoro's attacks.

Zoro is found sleeping near Luffy and Sanji, back on the Thousand Sunny, by Usopp, Chopper, Franky, and Robin. Ussop manages to wake him by lying that a "Lady Swordsman" had arrived. Awoken now, Zoro berates himself at the dishonor of being taken off his guard. Luffy tells Zoro who has his shadow and plans are made to retrieve Luffy's, Sanji's, Brook's, and his own shadow.

[edit] Abilities and powers

Zoro is a master swordsman, able to use one, two and three swords in varying attack styles, although he is most proficient with his Santōryū (literally: three sword style). Lacking a third hand for a third sword, Zoro holds his third sword in his mouth.

Zoro is extremely physically strong and although he is widely considered the second strongest fighter on the Straw Hat crew, his physical power and combat skill rival those of Luffy (in base form, without the aid of their newest skills Gears and Asura). Zoro is Luffy's first mate and while most superpowered characters gain power from eating one of the Devil Fruits, Zoro has gained his powers through hard work and training alone. Even without his swords, he has monstrous strength (in the Alabasta Arc, he lifted and tossed an entire building at Mr. 1, despite being injured) and he can use some sword techniques without his swords (in the Groggy Ring portion of the Davy Back Fight Arc, he launched Pickles towards Big Bun with a swordless style Dragon Twister). Zoro has shown to pack powerful punches, even developing the ability to pump his arms up with pure muscle.

Zoro's endurance is also near superhuman, as it shows the fact he has defeated incredibly strong opponents (like Hachi and Mr. 1) at their peak when he was greatly injured to the point of near death. While fighting Hachi, he was still wounded from his fight with Mihawk, developed a fever, was stabbed in the shoulder by Arlong, hurled across Arlong Park by Luffy (who was unaware of his injuries) and hit in the head with a large rock when the park was destroyed, and completely recovered.

Recently, he has developed the ability called Asura, where he presumably focuses his ki, giving off an illusion of three faces on his head and six arms all equipped with swords for a total of nine swords to use. Due to this, he is capable to use the Kyutōryū (nine sword style), with an attack power probably similar to Luffy's Gear skills, but it's not yet confirmed. Until now, he used only one Kyutōryū attack, Asura: Ichibugin (Three-Headed-Six-Armed-Demon-God: One-Mist-Silver), but he might use some other Kyutōryū move in future battles. Asura is presumed to be extremely hard to maintain, as Zoro has only used it once in short burst, usually as the finishing move of the fight.

Currently Zoro uses the following swords:

• Wadō Ichimonji - 和道一文字 (The One Road of Harmony). This is Zoro's most important sword. It was once Kuina's sword and is the sword he puts in his mouth when using santōryū. This appears to be his most prized possession. This sword is an excellent grade sword. This sword is the 23rd best sword in the world and is Zoro's smallest sword. It has a white guard.

• Sandai Kitetsu - 三代鬼徹 (Third Generation Demon-Splitter, known as Kitetsu III in the Viz translation). Sandai Kitetsu is a Wazamono Zoro obtained for free from Ippon-Matsu in Loguetown. A fine grade sword. It is cursed, as all the previous owners of it have met with a horrific fate. It has a red guard. While 'testing' it against Baroque Works members, he remarked that it is 'a problem child' for not obeying him properly.

• Yubashiri - 雪走 (Snow Run, known as Yu-bashiri [Snow Crasher or Running Snow] in the Viz translation') ), an extremely light but strong sword, and is one of the world's 50 Ryō Wazamono, and a fine grade sword. Like Sandai Kitetsu, he received it for free from Ippon-Matsu, who claimed the heirloom to be his best sword. This sword was destroyed in the battle against the Marine Captains on the Bridge of Hesitation (chapter 426). The broken sword is still kept by Zoro, as seen clearly at the beginning of chapter 431. It has a black guard.

[edit] Previous Katanas

Because Zoro fights in many tough battles, the swords he uses are often destroyed. It is implied he had used and destroyed countless katanas before he joined the Straw Hats. Out of the many swords he has used throughout the series, only the Kitetsu III and the Wado Ichimonji remain unscathed. Below is a list of his known previous katanas:

• Two unnamed swords he used in Episode 19 before he left his dojo to search for Mihawk. They were presumably destroyed by the time he met Johnny and Yosaku

• Two other unnamed swords at the time of his first appearance in Episode 2. The two swords were destroyed by "Hawkeye" Mihawk during the Baratie Arc.

• Yosaku and Johnny's swords. Zoro borrowed these swords to fight Hatchan during Arlong Park Arc and episode 135.

• During his fight with Kaku and Jyabura, Sogeking and Zoro were cuffed together with Sea Stone handcuffs. This forced Zoro to use Sogeking as a katana which he called "Nose Storm"

• After the Yubashiri was destroyed by Shuu, Zoro picked up a Marine cutlass and used it for a short time while fighting the Buster Call.

• On several occasions (such as on Drum Kingdom and in the movies), Zoro has used other swords available at the time, his own being somewhere else.

• ^[5] The wazamono swords of One Piece are most likely based on actual swords shown in this list of wazamono swords.

• Zoro often speaks with his sword held in his mouth, though it's unknown how he manages to do so. The creator of the series, Eiichiro Oda, has said that it is his heart that allows him to speak, though Oda is known for giving joke answers to fans' questions, as well as just making up answers on the spot to avoid leaving a fan's question unanswered. A more realistic explanation to this question could be that Zoro mastered a form of ventriloquism.

• Most of Zoro's attacks are puns and some also have religious connections. One of Zoro's more common attacks, Oni Giri (Demon Slash), is a pun on the Japanese word onigiri (rice ball). Another common attack, the 36/72/108 Pound Cannon, is a reference to the 36 passions of Buddhism. Zoro's newest power, Asura, also borrows from religion by taking its name from a group of Hindu demons. This is a bit ironic considering that Zoro is a self-declared atheist, and that Nami and Chopper have both claimed that Zoro is more arrogant than a god.

• Most swordsmen are portrayed with their swords held at their left sides, and drawing with their right hands, indicating that they are right handed. Zoro is always portrayed keeping all three of his swords on his right side, and drawing with his left hand, indicating that Zoro is probably left handed, though he is in all likelihood ambidextrous.
