The great dead white dude philosopher Berkeley once said that 'esse ist percipi'. Or in other words, that perception is the essence of existence. The act of seeing the world around us manifests itself upon us. So yah, by my force of individual will, I see shit and it comes alive to me. When I stop lookin around, it ceases (for all intents and purposes). Sorta like The Matrix. Taken another way, you see what you want to see. And in the case of this post, it has to deal with mp3 quality taken from a recent track on two different blogs.

I ran into this recent track by Sinden, of whom I used one of his tunes in my recent mix. He does alot of decent work with wobbly sounding fidget house. This track is alright, didn't particularly blow me away, though the track is definitely worth a listen. But stop for a sec, the music isn't the message here. It's the medium. I found the original Sinden track in 128 kps and it sounded pretty good. Then I found it on another major blog at 320 kps and, to my production ears, it sounded exactly the same.

The question would arise though, perhaps people like tracks more if they see they're bigger? Sorta like men looking at the hip to waist ratio and women looking for erhm... that. Is it evolutionarily desirable to attach higher bit rates to mp3s even though theyre the same thing? Is it morally responsible of a blogger to take an mp3 and then run it through iTunes and save it at a higher bit rate to attract more downloads even though the original is still 128kps? Can the average listener even tell? Well, no. Most cats listening to mp3's can't hear the compression anymore and most don't care, so yah, that's a shame.

It's all part of the increasing personalization of music. From large symphony halls, to massive open-air concerts, to stereo systems to walkmens to mp3 players, the history of music recording and performance has been the rapid falling of audio from the heavens of real sound in real concerts with real people to real ipods filled with the entire history of known music and some little individual, alienated from the world, running at the gym trying to avoid the fat guy next to them. Progress is a bitch ain't it? Check out these tracks and tell me if there's a real difference. I don't think so. Stop cluttering people's hard drives with phantom 320s!

I remember the first time I heard M.F. DOOM...I was listening to this track titled "Dead Bent" off of the Farewell Fondle 'Em compilation (Released by Bobbito through Definitive Jux Records, October 30, 2001).

I was just riding chilling and enjoying another ridiculously tight definitive jux compilation (prior to this they had dropped the Definitive Jux presents volume 1 compilation which served as my introduction to a host of acts like Cannibal Ox, Aesop Rock, Mr. Lif, Copywrite, Ill Bill, RJD2, MHZ, Copywrite, etc. etc...they just don't make rosters like they used to...then again Duck Down is doing a damn fine job of bringing focus back to the music with their roster...but as usual I digress)

M.F. DOOM...so I'm riding around town with my boy Joe, just listening to our latest CD purchase (yep, your broke when 2 people go in on a CD), and then all of a sudden...

Next up, it was 1998 and I just got a new vhs...yeah man M.F'n VHS...Shorty's Fulfill the dream In addition to showing team members like Chad Muska, Steve Olson, Sammy Baptista, Toan Nguyen, Jesse Silvey, Aaron Snyder, Brandon Turner, Peter Smolik and an ill ass soundtrack. Enter  Quasimoto...now don't ask me what track was playing...but I know it was off of the unseen, which until then I had yet to discover.

Nope nope that was Brandon skating to Company Flow...damn...does anyone know which late 90's skate video featured Quasimoto?!? Moving along.

It's amazing how great things, great sounds, great people are naturally drawn together. I never would have thought that years down the line these two musical forces that I'd stumbled across would get together to form one of the most ridiculous hip hop albums of this decade

With all of the "build up"  in this post you can imagine how happy I was to see Madvillain come to fruition (unlike the unlikely swift and changeable...damn). Well at least I can relive the magic again with a superior box set put together by Stones Throw Records to accompany Madlib's remix of the Madvillainy masterpiece.

The pre-orders for the Madvillainy 2 set have ended but the album is available everywhere. Don't lose hope just yet though, after the september 15th stones throw will be departing with a small reserve of the set...enjoy

Pues el tremendo DJ Josh y un servidor nos pusimos a trabajar con esta canción. Tratamos de crear un remix muy singular, pero muy a la moda con los remixes de nuestra ciudad. DJ Josh tuvo la genial idea de tomar la frase de un popular video del internet y yo traté de agregarle voces que llevaran el acorde y lo hicieran mas movido. sam la more is not only on the top of my radar, but has been dropping all these new remixes that i was not fully aware of. former member of tonite only, whom we've always been a fan of here at icp, sam dropped a remix of lovers electric. they are a pop duo from australia just like sam. honestly, the production is not only a sweet sip of tea but it does a great job complimenting the beautiful taste of eden boucher's vocals.

this song gets you hypnotized and will have you playing it over and over. i have to say, australia knows how to work it. eight splendas!

Okay, so I think John Legend is pretty awesome and I think MSTRKRFT is amazing,
and I would to be just like Andre 3000 and dress like him and say cool things.
So when I heard the 4 of them had sex and captured the sounds of their love
making to make a REMIX, I was instantly overwhelmed with feelings of lovey dovey
stuff. Who knew Jesse had it in him to be so passionate, John Legend to be so
submissive...HAHA! I'm pretty sure Andre 3000 just talked about fashion and politics
the whole time, which is pretty much my steez. I have no idea what I'm talking about,

before i start, the download format is going to only get easier here at iced passion tea. we will host the track on three servers -- the stream (which will eventually be compressed a bit), and two file-sharing network hosts (mediafire/zshare) with a link so you don't have to copy and paste.

anyway: damn! it's weird/fresh to hear a track that's not an electro banger these days (such as classixx's remix of the ting ting's 'shut up and let me go'). especially from electro remix superstars bloody beetroots. we hear their synths, organ-like synth pads, high pitched vocal, and clap aspects throughout the track. this could be a turning point in my opinion of the bloody beetroots proving they've got more class that i thought, or it could simply be the collaboration between themselves with cecile. regardless, this track is gold. personally, this is my favorite remix of theirs thus far. by the way, this track was released a bit ago but this vocal dub is fresh and clean.
