i09 is reporting that MTV is remaking Rocky Horror.

With the civilized world's eyes turned to Comic-Con, there was nobody alert enough to protest the news about scifi sex extravaganza Rocky Horror Picture Show yesterday. Yes, it's being remade. I know that already sounds hurty, but it gets worse: MTV is remaking it. The very same MTV that brings you movies like Aeon Flux. This remake, which will possibly open as early as Halloween next year, will be based on the original script but include new songs. But the fact is that Rocky Horror Picture Show doesn't need to be remade — it's already its own remake.

The movie remakes and respawns itself week after week as new generations of teenagers discover it at local rep houses and learn that freaks are everywhere (and they can be freaks too). How can you remake something that has already been remade thousands of times over by its audiences? And by theater troupes who reenact it? Plus, there's simply no way that the 1970s sexytime tale of a "sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania" could ever be told or retold in an era of safe sex and gay marriage. These days, Frank N Furter would just get married to Rocky, settle down, and move to the suburbs. The characters we love in Rocky Horror, and that audiences talk back to in cities across the world, cannot be "updated." And they cannot ever be remade in a way more pleasing than we can remake them ourselves, in our local theaters, wearing silly makeup and carrying umbrellas.

El equipo de proyectos del estudio Zenph dio luz a las grabaciones originales del 78 de la mano de Art Tatum en el año 1933 con las primeras cuatro canciones de este CD. Fueron los cuatro primeros cortes comerciales del pianista, quien falleció en el año 1956. Los temas del 5 al 13 provinieron de un concierto en vivo presentado por Gene Norman en Los Ángeles en 1949. Esto se dio justo cuando la cinta magnética estaba siendo introducida en el mercado estadounidense por Ampex. En ese momento, Zenph identifica cada parámetro de cada nota grabada originariamente e ignora todo el ruido, distorsión, variaciones de velocidad y otros imperfectos de las antiguas grabaciones. Well, this is going to displease some people. MTV is planning a remake of the 1975 musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show. For those who've never seen it, the bizarre cult perennial, conceived by Crystal Maze eccentric Richard O'Brien, tells of a young couple who unfortunately stumble upon the residence of the cross-dressing scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter (memorably played by Tim Curry). Since the film's success, theatrical versions have played constantly to audiences of (male) students wearing gurdles and heels, but no shame.

There has been no indication of who might direct or star, but the new production will use the screenplay written by Richard O'Brien and Jim Sharman, who directed the original. Making this film seems a curious choice. Rocky Horror couldn't be much more 1970s if it were wearing a safari suit and watching Charlie's Angels. Do modern audiences want to see this updated or is the tackiness of the period that produced it part of the charm? I suppose the current trend for big money making musical's is just brining up the piund signs in studio exec's eye's!

And now, if things weren't bad enough, there's a remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the works. Even though they're aiming to release it by Halloween of next year, no one is attached to the project yet. if you ask me, some movies were never meant to be remade. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult classic. It's been iconic in the cult world for years and has a fan base of millions. To me, there's just no way to remake this movie successfully. There really isn't even a reason to remake it. It's doing pretty well on its own. I mean, 33 years later, there are STILL showings of it all over the country. I say they leave it alone, but what can you do, they're going to make it whether or not people really want it anyway.

In their INFINITE wisdom, the braintrust over at MTV has decided to remake the legendary cult film THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!

Perhaps the most famous/well beloved film to be added to get the "remake" treatment. The original film, now relegated to Halloween tv specials and midnight engagements at various points around the year in theatres around the country, still draws huge crowds and remains perhaps the most interactive film ever made. Fans come dressed in character and complete with "props" which at times during the film are used in response to certain on-screen cues. And who hasn't done the TIME WARP on the dance floor at some point in their life?

But apparantly that's not good enough for all of us. Apparantly MTV knows better, and will show us all the error of our ways. It's nice to see that MTV is now branching out to destroy other mediums after they have completely decimated the music industry.

I'm still waiting, and no one has answered the "why?" question. This isn't some fledgling little film that never got wide release and now someone wants to bring it mainstream. This is the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW! It has a cult following the level of which could rival any of the big sci-fi/fantasy films INCLUDING Star Wars.

Moreover, we've all talked the last week or so about The Joker and Heath Ledger and how that performance just couldn't be topped. Well how do they plan on recasting the character of Dr. Frank-N-Furter played incredibly by Tim Curry, and expect it to be good? The answer is, they can't.

I know why MTV feels the need to do this though. Its because they, like the movie studios, don't believe younger audiences want to see "old" films (which means anything released after the year 2000 or so). Well, if the younger generation doesn't want to see the original classic from 1975...who cares? Let them go watch another episode of the Hills and text their favorite "songs" into TRL again. We shouldn't have to dumb down classic entertainment just because today's youth doesn't want to watch a film in "technicolor".

MTV better be careful though. Because if they botch this... they better lock the office doors and run and hide because they legions of Rocky Horror fans will definitely come calling.

I'm going to hide...tell me when all of this is over. ugh!

Look, I know that the remake bug in Hollywood is here to stay. At first it was kinda cool, getting to see old films be recognized and updated using newer technology and all that. And I think a greal deal of us were all legitimately excited by it. But then they actually started releasing all these remakes and we realized they are terrible...for the most part. And in a lot of places they just didn't make sense to do. Why remake the Omen if you are going to make pretty much a shot for shot remake...with a few added scenes and exceptions? What is the reasoning there?

I was still okay with it so long as they were for the most part choosing B horror films or other marginal films to remake. They hadn't yet entered the "classics" realm. But now word comes that one of the CLASSIC adventure films of the Golden Age of Hollywood CAPTAIN BLOOD(1933) staring Errol Flynn will be remade.

For those not in the know, Captain Blood was the Pirate movie before Pirates and Errol Flynn was the quintessential adventure actor. He also did the original Robin Hood. He was Captain Jack Sparrow before there was a Captain Jack Sparrow and in some ways, when I go back and watch that film I enjoy his performance more than Johnny Depp's, especially given the second and third installments of the Pirates series.

My question again is why? They aren't going to find an actor in Hollywood today with the same bravado and flair that Flynn had, and thats exactly what THIS Pirate character has. He isn't midly psychotic and runs around asking where the rum is while waving his hands. He's the sauve and charming Pirate character...kinda like the one Orlando Bloom was SUPPOSED to be playing, but failed pretty miserably at (especially in the second and third installments....noticing a pattern here?).

Like all things cinematic...I'm willing to give it a chance. I'm willing to wait and see who directs, and gets casts. Currently Phillip Noyce ("To Catch a Fire") is attached to "develop the remake"...whatever that means. Until more news comes out, I guess we are all in a holding pattern about this. Let's just hope that the studios come to their senses before we see a "GODFATHER" remake starring Sean Penn or something. ack!

MTV is doing the time warp on a remake of 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Lou Adler, exec producer of the original film, is partnering with BermanBraun and Fox Television Studios on the new rendition.

Two-hour remake will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.

Helmer and casting decisions have yet to be announced.

Fox is sin discussions with BSkyB and Sky Movies to co-finance and distribute the telepic abroad.

Timetable for the start of production hasn't been established yet but the partners aim to move forward quickly once the final elements are in place.

"I'd like to see it shown a year from this coming Halloween, but that's up to MTV," Adler said.

BermanBraun principal Gail Berman will exec produce the project along with partner Lloyd Braun. Berman has been attached to a "Rocky Horror" remake dating back to her tenure as Fox programming chief (Daily Variety, July 1, 2002).

The original "Rocky Horror," starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf, has grossed $140 million in domestic box office over the years, primarily from the wallets of youthful audience members who have shown up for midnight screenings over the past three decades.

O "Penalidade Máxima" é a versão britânica do "Golpe Baixo" e foi feito em 2001, ou seja, antes do filme com o Adam Sandler. A história é absolutamente a mesma, tendo um ex-jogador preso e obrigado a treinar uma equipe de detentos em um jogo contra os guardas da prisão. Até a treta no final é a mesma, com o personagem Danny Meehan (Vinnie Jones) sendo chantageado pelo diretor e tendo que entregar a partida. A maior diferença é que o esporte aqui é o futebol com os pés, então tecnicamente agradaria mais aos brasileiros. Vale dizer também que os atores desse filme são mais caricatos, portanto mais engraçado.

A equipe de produtores e alguns atores são os mesmos que trabalharam nos excelentes "Jogos, Trapaças e Dois Canos Fumegantes" e "Snatch - Porcos e Diamantes", inclusive Guy Ritchie.

"Golpe Baixo" é uma refilmagem do filme de mesmo nome de 1974 com Burt Reynolds, que também atua aqui, mas como o treinador do time de detentos. As duas histórias são semelhantes e ambos foram indicados a várias premiações.

Paul Crewe (Adam Sandler) é um ex-jogador de futebol americano que está em sua pior fase da vida. Acusado de ter entregue um jogo seis anos antes, Paul acaba preso depois de fugir da polícia por dirigir bebado e roubar o carro de sua namorada. Na prisão ele é obrigado pelo diretor a treinar uma equipe de detentos para uma partida contra os guardas e mesmo com algumas dificuldades iniciais, Paul monta uma equipe competitiva o que desagrada o diretor que tenta sabotar os treinamentos e os jogadores, mas ainda sim a equipe segue focada no jogo.

Em uma última tentativa de ver a sua equipe vitoriosa os guardas mandam um detento X9 matar Paul, mas a armadilha atinge o Muambeiro (Chris Rock), que morre em uma explosão na vespera do jogo. Durante a partida o time dos guardas começa melhor, já que os detentos estão mais preocupados em dar porrada, mas depois de uma bronca de Paul, o time melhora e eles empatam a partida. Preocupado com uma possível derrota, o diretor chantageia Paul falando que poderá culpá-lo pela morte do Muambeiro caso ele não entregue o jogo, agora Paul fica no dilema de trair seus amigos ou de ficar mais 25 anos na prisão.

"Golpe Baixo" é um filme de comédia, mas que não tem muita coisa para se rir, mas é um bom filme, presta.

New Line has taken a step forward in bringing Freddy back to the big screen. The Warner Bros. division has hired veteran scribe Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, the franchise that helped establish New Line into a movie player in the mid-1980s.

The original Nightmare was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. It created one of the most popular villains in screen history, Freddy Krueger, played by Robert Englund, and its runaway success spawned a slew of sequels. The films' premise centered on Krueger, a serial child killer murdered who returns with a burned face and razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.

The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Krueger himself. The plan is to have a dark tone. The company hopes to have the movie ready for the 25th anniversary of the original. Strick most famously penned Arachnophobia and Cape Fear and worked on Mission: Impossible II, among other films. Quite frankly I think it's a film ripe for a remake and has the potential to be very creepy. Alot will hinge upon the casting of the new Freddy but my vote is for Ben Foster of 30 Day's Of Night and 3: 10 To Yuma to play him...anyone else got any ideas?

Ki a rendező: A frankfurti születésű Marcus Nispel, aki karrierjét videoklip- illetve reklámfilm-rendezőként kezdte. 2003-ban készíttette el a Texasi láncfűrészes újráját Michael Bay produceri felkérésére, de Nispel nevéhez fűződik még a Pathfinder című akciókaland is. Emberünk következő projektje a Péntek 13. franchise feltámasztása lesz ugyancsak Bay hathatós közreműködésével.

Ki játszik benne: Egy bizonyos Jessica Biel nevezetű amerikai jócsaj, aki meglepő vagy sem, de első igazi főszerepét pont ebben a filmben kapta, majd olyan produkciókban játszott még mint a Penge, az Elizabethtown, a The Illusionist, a Next vagy a Férj és férj.

Miss Biel-en kívül kapunk még az arcunkba jópár sorozatsztárocskát, illetve egy zseniális veteránszínészt, R. Lee Ermey-t (a Full Metal Jacket-et mindenképpen tessék megnézni!).

Mi a sztori: 1973. augusztus 18-án öt fiatal autózik egy lerobbant furgonnal a Lynyrd Skynyrd aktuális koncertjére. Útközben felvesznek egy halálrarémült fiatal csajszit, aki aztán egészen innovatív módon, gyorsan átküldi magát a másvilágra. A kis csapat tagjai - joggal - összecsinálják magukat, majd elindulnak megkeresni a helyi seriffet, de az isten háta mögötti vidéken végül egy jóétvágyú kannibál családba botlanak...

Értékelés: Négy évvel ezelőtt amikor először láttam Tobe Hooper 1974-es klasszikusát, bizony elég rendesen beütött (máig ott figyel kedvenc horrorjaim között, és simán benne van a hetvenes-nyolcvanas évek Top 3 horrorjában). El nem bírom képzelni, hogy az akkori közönség hogyan reagálhatott arra a filmre, mely még mai szemmel is letaglózó hatású és ultrabrutális (annak ellenére, hogy alig folyik benne vér). Bizarr témája miatt be is tiltották jópár országban, de ez sem akadályozhatta meg, hogy rövid időn belül kultklasszik horrorrá avanzsáljon a rajongók körében.

A hollywoodi remake ötlete egyébként úgy fogant meg, hogy Michael Bay barátunk 2002-ben a Pearl Harbor buktája után gondolt egy merészet, hogy ideje lenne már megismertetni jópár horrorklasszikust a mai fiatalsággal, és választása Tobe Hooper munkájára esett (persze nem kell aggódni, hamarosan érkezik a Péntek 13., Hitchcock Madarak-ja, sőt Freddy Kruger is hamarosan visszaköszön a vásznon Mr. Bay produceri vezénylete mellett). Szóval a videoklipek világából érkező direktor felkért egy másik videoklipes szakit, Marcus Nispelt, hogy ugyan vállalja már be ezt a filmet. Nispel rábólintott, majd elindult a forgatás Tobe Hooper és Kim Henkel eredeti forgatókönyve alapján. Aztán hogy mi lett belőle? Mindjárt kiderül!

Jól van, ne kerülgessük tovább a forró kását: nem jött be nekem ez a remake, annak ellenére sem - teszem hozzá gyorsan -, hogy nem egy alapvetően szar horrorról van szó (legalábbis a még mindig divatos ázsiai tucat remake-ekhez képest). Viszont gondolom, senkit nem lepek meg azzal, hogy fényévekre van az eredetitől. Ez pedig részben a borzadály forgatókönyvnek, a gyenge színészi játéknak illetve a gyakorlatilag nullára redukált feszültségteremtésnek köszönhető (bezzeg gore az van dögivel, de erről majd később).

Scott Kosar igen gyorsan szégyellje össze magát, A gépész után nem gondoltam volna, hogy ennyire pocsék szkriptet képes gyártani. Ráadásul egy kurva jó alapból, ami erősen merített az ötvenes évek sorozatgyilkosának, Ed Gein-nek a munkásságából (legalábbis, ami a kannibalizmust és a bizarr bőrpreparátumokat illeti). Kosar nem erőltette meg magát túlzottan: az általa kreált karakterek tökéletesen egydimenziós, személyiség nélküli sablonok (gondolom fogott pár idétlen tinihorrort, aztán kiollózott belőlük néhány figurát). Két csaj meg három csávó koncertre utaznak az isten háta mögötti vidéken át, miközben civakodnak, dugnak meg füveznek (tökéletesen megágyazott kliséalap bármely PG-13-as amcsi "horrorhoz" - bár tegyük hozzá, hogy a Hooper féle film ereje sem a szkriptben rejlett). Az eredetihez képest egyébként már a történet elején is módosítottak: ugyanis a stoppos, akit felvesznek nem az a bizonyos őrült figura, hanem egy idegesítő tyúk (Lauren German a Hostel 2-ből btw), akinek sorsa bezony másképpen alakul mint azt Hooper-ék '74-ben elképzelték... :)

Igen-igen gyenge a színészi felhozatal, bár mit is várhatnék egy igénytelen slasher szinjére degradált produkciótól. Az egy dolog, hogy már eleve ott el van cseszve az egész, hogy Kosar jellegtelen figurákat alkotott és borzadály szövegeket adott színészei szájába, és a becastingolt fiatalság nem tudott ezzel mit kezdeni, de legalább ne lettek volna olyan istentelenül idegesítőek. Különösen igaz ez a Peppert alakító Erica Leerhsen-re, aki konkrétan azzal volt hajlamos kompenzálni saját színésznői hiányosságait, hogy torkaszakadtából ordított - de úgy, hogy attól nem megijedtem, hanem szabályosan falra másztam!

Volt azért egy-két érdekesség is. Például fura volt látni, hogy az egyébként többre érdemes Eric Balfour (Claire egyik balhés csávója a Sírhant Művekből) vajon mi a fenét keresett ebben a produkcióban (biztos pénzre volt szüksége, vagy a fene tudja). Sőt valahol olvastam, hogy Bay és Nispel még Gunnar Hansen-t (Leatherface az eredetiben) is megkereste, hogy egy napra ugorjon be cameozni, de az izlandi színész gyorsan visszadobta az ajánlatot. Jól is tette, gondolom megérezte, hogy nem tenne jót a karrierjének, ha egy ilyen remake-hez adná a nevét.

Na de mondjuk azért valami pozitívumot is a szereplőgárdáról. Soványka vigasz ugyan, de ha a csajok nem tudtak játszani, legalább jól mutattak a vásznon: nyilván jelentősen hozzájárult a film kasszasikeréhez, hogy Jessica Biel gyakorlatilag egyetlen kis feszülős topban szaladgálja végig a filmet... :)

Teszett, hogy Nispel-ék jól láthatóan magasról tettek a besorolóbizottságra, és annyi gore-t pakoltak a filmbe, amennyi csak belefért (a rendezői változat nem is úszta meg az NC-17-et, négy jelenetet teljesen újra kellett vágniuk). Ez a PG-13 kategóriás "horrorok" korában becsülendő dolog, az viszont már nem, hogy a gore növekedésével fordított arányosságban csökkent az eredetire oly jellemző betegesen súlyos hangulat és feszültség. Pedig ez utóbbi nálam ugyanolyan fontos (sőt talán még fontosabb) összetevője egy minőségi horrornak mint a gore mennyisége (a REC pont emiatt csúszott el nálam). Hatásos történet és idegtépő feszültség nélkül egy horror nem horror, akármennyi gyomorforgató belezést is pakolnak bele (lásd Fűrész franchise utolsó két része vagy a Hostel filmek). Hogyan kell beteg hangulatot teremteni mindenféle vérontás nékül? Tessék csak megtekinteni Hooper filmjének hírhedt vacsorajelenetét!

Az is jellemző, hogy amikor a poszt elejére beszúrandó idézetet kerestem, egyszerűen nem bírtam megállni röhögés nélkül a film tagline-ját ("You want scary? THIS is scary!"). Most komolyan, ezt remélem önironikus kikacsintásnak szánták, mert ha nem, akkor valami igen nagy gáz lehetett a kreatívok fejében, mikor ezt megszülték. :) Javaslom, hogy nézzék újra az eredetit, na AZ parás!

Nem is tudom hirtelen, hová lőjjem be a végső pontozást: összességében nem amortizálta le az agysejtjeimet annyira mnt az ultragagyi Szem remake Alba kisasszonnyal, viszont a '74-es Hooper verzióhoz képest iszonyat gyenge (bár akik látták az eredetit, azoknak nyilván nem mondok újat). Ha behatóbban szeretnétek megismerkedni a Bőrpofa-mitológiával, akkor az ismerkedést ne ezzel, hanem a korábbi változattal kezdjétek! 6.5/10

Well it seems that not only are we subjected to yet another remake of one of them but they are making themselves look even worse by calling it something different. Instead of using the same title A Tale of Two Sisters, I just read on IMDB that it's going to be called The Uninvited. Now for any of you out there there who may recognise the name - yes there was an Asian horror film from 2003 with the same name but it has no link to this. But I diverse...

So what was wrong with the original title? Too detailed? Too long? Or do they feel the need to have a catchy name for the sake of the posters? Whatever motivation they had I think it's plain dumb; if they have to remake quality original content do they have to change the name too?

I think people are angry cos an event that is supposed to epitomize the success of Singapore through a video ended up to have elements of an idea appeared somewhere in the world (in this case, Japan).

They didn't think 'remake' is acceptable as a reason, especially for a workpiece as significant as the video.

ya... I agree. Not only did the producers lifted the idea, they also remastered the same scenes (as pointed out by a STOMPer). To this end, I think it's very... 窝囊 for the producers.

I mean, being accused of lifting ideas can be a fuzzy matter; it can be hard to establish how the idea can be protected with rights. But re-doing the same scenes was too over le. It's like a new CD that has songs that not only sounded like Jay Chou's songs, but with the cover concept like one of his albums.

As far as I remember, from the Engin Prof module, a work is original if substantial effort on the creator's part is added ('substantial' here is debatable). One can refer to the Japan's ad for inspiration, but convey it in a local context, with styles unique to sg, such that it can be established as 异曲同工; same idea, but conveyed differently.

Like, you know, the boy can be filling up the paper not with crayons, but with mathematical equations. ah... Can also make parents (viewers) worried about stressing their kids with too much school work.

But from another point of few, cos the idea was only one of three in the NDP video, it is tough for us to say that no substantial effort was made to make the video original. The WHOLE video, yes, is original, but perhaps not a segment of it.

On the other hand, some people take it to the level that as a producer of the NDP video, they should have some personal pride to avoid such outright copying. Which I agree. He/she should have put in more effort (like what I mentioned above) prove to people out there that with the same ingredients, sg people can concoct a different flavour for tasting.

Anyway, I'll keep this short. "The Invasion" is a remake of the 1956 & 1978 movies "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". As we all know remakes tend to suck as is NOT the case here. I actually enjoyed this movie for what it was: a sci/fi-horror movie about people being replaced by alien doppelgangers. They did a great job and weaving current events into the movie to give it a fresh/realist feel. If you haven't seen it yet it's actually worth a watch. This version also has a few more twists, turns and action.

As for "The Golden Compass" I was pleasantly surprised with it as well. I didn't have real high hopes for the movie, because it got so many bad reviews when it was in theaters. I recall hearing it had too many characters, that it was hard to follow, etc. While the movie was chocked full of characters, there weren't as many as you might find in "The Lord of the Rings" nor was it as hard to follow. I actually found it quite enjoyable and I look forward to the next installment. :) Another movie worth checking out if you have yet to do so. The target audience would be the same as that of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and I would say "The Golden Compass" is a much better watch. To compare it to "Prince Caspian" would be a closer call.

I've completely given up on the slasher genre as a whole. And I'm sure I'm not the only one — I mean, how many times can a movie about horny teenagers getting stabbed, mauled and diced up be original? And that's the chief problem with the new, ridiculously bad slasher movies getting pumped out today. Here, let me explain.

Back in its golden age, when the genre was still new and exciting, people were drawn to it because of its realism. When "Halloween" came out, it terrified people, because it was so realistic. Why couldn't a deranged maniac bring terror to Suburbia by way of a kitchen knife? Serial murder, unlike zombies, mad scientists and the like, was a brand-new concept to horror films, and it was different because it could actually happen.

People were scared of it, something Horror films generally try to do, and thus the flick made shit-tons of money. So, of course the logical next step Hollywood took that, exploited it and put out a whole lot more slash 'em up movies. And for a time, it worked. "Friday the 13th" was another simple and realistic plot that had kids terrified of summer camp for reasons other than the usual bad food and creepy counselors. Hell, even an unrealistic plot like "Nightmare on Elm St." was a fun and interesting take on the slasher film genre.

"Child's Play" and that bullcrap was ridiculous, but I can even stomach that.

It's when you start digging for story lines so vigorously that you decide to jettison Jason into space, well, then you've completely ruined the entire genre. I wanted it to die, right then and there. When you take away that realism, then you've essentially taken away the element of the movie that made it so popular in the first place. No one respects "Jason X" or "Freddy vs. Jason," because they make a mockery of the slasher genre, which, despite its recent brush with steady decline, is a very popular genre.

With the Rob Zombie "Halloween" remake and the reboot of "Friday the 13th" on the way, maybe the slasher film is making a comeback, cutting the fat that has made it so ridiculous in order to get back to its roots. Or maybe it's just the remake is just an excuse to make more money. Either way, the movie's on its way. Here's the first look at the new-and-improved Jason:

I really don't have much hope for this flick, nor do I have any reason to want to. I gave up on the genre a long time ago, which is sad because "Halloween" is such a classic. But sometimes, a genre reaches a logical conclusion, like when you feel the need to shed the themes and ideas that made the first movies so great, and you should just cease to make them, if you truly respect the originals.

Have you ever watched a trailer so many times that you know exactly where each cut is? No? Well... ok, I've been there a few times and my newest trailer-obsession is that of Zack Snyder's graphic novel adaption, Watchmen. 

Here's the story, it's set in an alternate 1980's america where superheros are a common part of society. When one of the heros is murdered an investigation begins led by Rorschach, a masked vigilante, which discovers a sinister plot to kill all the superheros in existence.

The trailer very well cut, and shows an impressive amount of footage for a movie that one be released for almost a year. Zack Snyder, the director of the masculine 300, and the good-for-a-remake Dawn of the Dead, helms this film. 

I've been following this film through it's production blogs and through those my interest in the graphic novels have definitely risen. Since the trailer was released I have been going through and looking at pictures from the comics and comparing them to the trailer, I have to say that I'm thoroughly impressed. Snyder is doing a great job capturing the film, through it's feel and the unique color scheme presented in the comics. And, yes, I got all of this from a trailer.
