Peter Joseph has produced a sequel to his smash documentary, which brings us face to face to modern day deceptions and manipulations: Central Banking, Economic Hitmen, and more.

W zeszły weekend premierę na festiwalu filmów "zaangażowanych" Artivist miała druga część dokumentu, zatytułowana Zeitgeist: Addendum. Film zdobył główną nagrodę festiwalu, a do obejrzenia jest tutaj. Tym razem Peter Joseph skupił się na omówieniu systemu monetarnego, działalności "economic hitmen", oraz na potencjalnej alternatywie dla obecnej gospodarki w postaci utopijnego The Venus Project.

Ok, napisałem dwa akapity i nie przedstawiłem swojej opinii, trochę do mnie niepodobne, prawda? Tak jednak chciałbym to zostawić. Obydwa filmy to po pierwsze - konstruktywny sposób spędzenia wieczoru, po drugie - dobra pożywka dla dyskusji w gronie rodziny czy znajomych.

Oglądać. Myśleć. Sprawdzać fakty. Wyciągać wnioski.

Well, I'm sorry for the delay, but here we have it. I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. First of all, please read the Zeitgeist Debunking Note on this. Thanks for reading and stay cool!

What he means by “celestial groups” is beyond me. But as far as I know, it doesn’t have anything to this. I looked up constellations and found the definition of constellation and did not find the term “celestial groups” in it. The real definition is something like this (2):

“An arbitrary formation of stars perceived as a figure or design, especially one of 88 recognized groups named after characters from classical mythology and various common animals and objects.”

Clearly, nothing is mentioned about this “celestial groups” in the technical definition, so what exactly does it mean? Nothing. Nothing at all.

The next thing about this article is the cross of the Zodiac. The movie claims it is one of the oldest images ever in history and that seems about right. But when he discusses what the zodiac is supposed to reflect, it doesn’t add up. I’ve found lots of cultures also had a cross of the zodiac, namely, the Chinese (3), the Babylonians (4), and originally, ancient Mesopotamia (5). Why bring this up? Well, there are many different groups of people who started their own zodiac; so to say it has always reflected a pattern is inconsistent.

Perhaps I need to explain what I mean. Think of it this way: Name a random popular song in your head. Got it? Well, consider it in other languages like Spanish or German. The words are often slightly different due to the fact the current lyrics do not rhyme in the said language. Same with the zodiac. If different cultures have a similar thing, it doesn’t mean it’ll be exactly the same in every detail. So to say it’ll always portray months and seasons isn’t necessarily wrong, but it’s inaccurate.   

Also, the whole zodiac’s signs, such as Aries or Capricorn, are based off of Greek mythology which later inspired the naming of the constellations (6), and do not represent months or seasons. Basically, the mythology came first, the constellation based off of it came second, and then the zodiac followed.     

Lastly, the claim zodiac as a term relates to the fact that constellations were personified as figures or animals. The term zodiac actually means “circle of life” (7) which doesn’t necessarily bring one to the conclusion that it correlates to constellations and their animal representations, because, as we’ve already discussed, the ideas of Greek mythology that formed the Zodiac, later inspired the constellations that were formed in their image.

“This is the sun. As far back as 10 thousand B.C.E., history is abundant with carvings and writings reflecting people's respect and adoration for this object. And it is simple to understand why as every morning the sun would rise, bringing vision, warmth, and security, saving man from the cold, blind, predator-filled darkness of night. Without it, the cultures understood, the crops would not grow, and life on the planet would not survive. These realities made the sun the most adored object of all time. Likewise, they were also very aware of the stars. The tracking of the stars allowed them to recognize and anticipate events which occurred over long periods of time, such as eclipses and full moons.”

The sun facts seem about right. But when he goes into stars, I’m not exactly sure what he’s getting at, I encourage you to go on the online interactive transcript, and see the sources this statement for yourself. They are complete and utter bunk; they make no sense but are sold over since this all the film maker gives as a source.

Firstly, the three sources that are supposed to prove our ancestors were accomplished in the stars and astronomy. Although the first two articles did prove that the ancient people were aware of the stars, the articles were solely based on the findings the same scientist, who is Michael Rappenglueck of Munich. Now, I checked his credentials, and very impressive indeed. However, his only degrees is a MA in philosophy, logic, theory of sciences, Christian philosophy and theology and a doctorial degree in the history of natural sciences. (1)

Never does it say that he studied astronomy or similar topics to a degree. Yet, he appears to be the go-to guy when you’re talking about deciphering the purpose of ancient carvings and tablets. As for where he is getting the whole idea of stars if he isn’t even experienced in the field is beyond me and it should not be trusted as absolute truth.

The third source that supposedly argues the ancient people were aware of the stars doesn’t even mention the celestial bodies in the article and rather, it discusses an ancient sun observatory found in Peru, which when interesting, doesn’t prove anything. I understand that the sun itself is a star, but the filmmaker is waving this in our faces, as if it proves that the ancient people were very aware of the stars. Sorry, but I don’t quite see the connection. He’s already proven they aware of the sun which many scientists agree with such logic.

The last source is possibly the most ridiculous. It cites Edwin Krupp in the quote below that is found in his book, “In Search of Ancient Astronomies”:

“Across the whole face of the earth are found mysterious ruins of ancient monuments, monuments with astronomical significance…Some of them built according to celestial alignments; others were actually precision astronomical observatories…a careful observation of the celestial rhythms was compellingly important to early peoples and their expertise, in some respects, was not equaled in Europe until three thousand years later.”     

This quote is supposed to prove that these people were aware of the stars and used them to predict eclipses and full moons. And you what’s hilarious about this? He’s assuming that Ed here when speaking of “celestial rhythms” is talking about what the filmmaker is saying. What is that supposed to mean? I looked it up and found numerous things concerning songs, Japanese poetry, scientific labs, and in the search, I did manage to find a few things concerning astronomical events. However, just because Ed here says that they observed celestial rhythms. Not that the ancient people predicted these events.

When I first discovered this movie, I thought it was a philosophy, thought provoking arguement as to why Jesus could possibly not exist. It, however, turned out to be a conspriacy theorist's dream come true. I had previously studied blokes like Alex Jones and Dlyan Avery, and found them to be a little crazy. But after viewing Zeitgeist, I became a wild, rabid, leaning toward atheistic thoughts conspriacy believer. What an amazing difference from the quiet, thoughtful, Catholic girl.

So clearly, the movie had a profound effect on me. I thought it was true, I thought it made sense.

What. A. Joke. The movie isn't meant to be the truth, it's supposed to make you consider different perspectives. What a far stretch from what countless others and I myself had believed it to be.

Zeitgeist. Ovvero la tendenza culturale dominante di un'epoca. Questa parola ha dato il titolo a un web movie (qui e a fine post potrete vederlo con i sottotitoli in italiano), ovvero un film distribuito al di fuori dei circuiti delle sale cinematografiche, che ha sollevato parecchie questioni circa gli argomenti che affronta. Nonostante penso che questo genere di cose vadano viste con un occhio tanto attento quanto critico, e che mai bisogna dare per scontato e vero tutto ciò che si sente e si vede, lo considero molto interessante e perciò mi sembra doveroso parlarvene. Zeitgeist - The Movie (2007) è un film-documentario no-profit a cura di Peter Joseph. Suddiviso in tre parti, affronta altrettanti argomenti estremamente importanti:

1. Il Cristianesimo: il documentario sviluppa un'ipotesi secondo la quale il Cristianesimo conserva moltissime caratteristiche simili se non del tutto uguali a moltissime alre religioni coeve, e questo non solo dimostrerebbe che è stata una religione come tante fino a quando non ha preso il sopravvento, ma che le caratteristiche simili tradirebbero un comune riferimento delle varie religioni a eventi astronomici. Di conseguenza i miti e le religioni derivanti sarebbero semplice espressione allegorico-letteraria di tali eventi. Gesù sarebbe quindi il Sole, i dodici apostoli rappresenterebbero le costellazioni dello zodiaco etc.

2. L'11 Settembre 2001: secondo questo ed altri documentari shockanti, l'attentato dell'11 Settembre sarebbe in realtà un autoattentato. Può sembrare incredibile che il governo americano possa aver permesso e addirittura voluto che avvenisse una tragedia di queste proporzioni semplicemente per giustificare la guerra in Afghanistan, ma il comportamente tutt'altro che soddisfacente del governo stesso, le dichiarazioni rilasciate per la commissione sull'11 Settembre, le presunte 'prove' portate a sostegno della tesi su Al Quaeda da parte dei servizi segreti americani, le prove portate dal documentario, lasciano di stucco. Il governo americano ha seppellito tutta la questione sotto una valanga di menzogne e falsità, che offendono l'intelligenza umana.

3. Il signoraggio: Zeitgeist osserva come nel sistema economico del XX secolo molti paesi, primo fra tutti gli Stati Uniti, dipendano in tutto e per tutto dai grandi gruppi finanziari e dai proprietari delle maggiori banche. Le banche detengono un potere economico tale che possono favorire la candidatura di un presidente, far scatenare crolli della borsa, stabilire l'entrata in guerra del loro paese. In quest'ottica le guerre diventano eventi particolarmente fruttuosi per questi gruppi finanziari, quindi esse vengono fomentate, al prezzo della vita di milioni tra soldati e civili, Così per le prime due guerre, così per Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq e così via.

Nonostante alcune teorie possano comunque non convincermi, a mio parere questo film coglie bene come moltissime questioni di importanza planetaria, che modificano il nostro vissuto e che hanno modificato la nostra storia, siano sostanzialmente state nascoste e contraffatte ai nostri occhi. Per quanto sia spaventoso non ho problemi a pensare che il governo americano sia in grado di organizzare un autoattentato per giustificare una guerra, che alcuni grandi gruppi finanziari controllino paesi indebitati fino al collo (gli ultimi prospetti economici lo testimoniano), che insomma tutto questo sia VERO. Quello che ancora più mi disgusta non è che il mondo ha sempre funzionato così, che ci sono stati sempre i potenti e i deboli, che ci sono state le angherie e i soprusi, i ricchi e i miserabili, ma che ora la gente che potrebbe fare le rivoluzioni, che potrebbe ribellarsi a questo asservimento, che ora ha i mezzi e le conoscenze per costruire un mondo giusto, non viene più uccisa o repressa, ma corrotta, convinta, addormentata, resa terribilmente inconsapevole.

What's next, you ask? Well, now you've got to do what everybody does when they have an empire, of course. You've got to worry about it falling apart, mate!

But how to tell for sure? Let me see if I can be helpful. Here are some rules of thumb to keep in mind, thirty-six sure-fire indicators that your empire is falling apart:

You know your empire's crumbling when the folks who are gearing up their empire to replace yours start blowing up satellites in space. And then they don't bother to return your phone calls when you ring up to ask why.

You know your empire's crumbling when those same folks are cutting deals left, right and center across Asia, Latin America and Africa, while you, your lousy terms, and your arrogant attitude are no longer welcome.

You know your empire's crumbling when you're spending your grandchildren's money like a drunken sailor, and letting your soon-to-be rivals finance your little splurge (i.e., letting them own your country).

You know your empire's crumbling when it's considered an achievement to pretend that you've halved the rate at which you're adding to the massive mountain of debt you've already accumulated.

You know your empire's crumbling when you weaken your currency until it looks as anemic as a Paris runway model, and you're still setting record trade deficits. (Hint: Because you're not making anything anymore.)

You know your empire's crumbling when "the little brown ones" (thank you George H.W. Bush - certainly not me - for that lovely expression) in country after country of "your backyard" blow you off and proudly elect anti-imperialist leftist governments.

You know your empire's crumbling when you can't topple those governments and replace them with nice puppet regimes - like in the good old days - even if you wanted to. And you badly want to.

You know your empire's crumbling when one of their leaders comes to the United Nations and makes fun of your emperor, calling him the devil, and joking about smelling sulphur where he just stood. And though a few folks cringe, everybody laughs.

You know your empire's crumbling when just about your entire military land force is tied up in a worse-than-useless war launched on the basis of complete fabrications, that every day is actually making you less - not more - secure from external threat.

You know your empire's crumbling when almost half the soldiers in that war are high-paid mercenaries, and you don't dare institute a draft.

You know your empire's crumbling when you send soldiers into war with two weeks training and a lack of armor, and then you keep them there for three, four and five rotations.

You know your empire's crumbling when a member of the Axis of Evil can test missiles and explode nuclear warheads, and all you can do about it is mumble some pathetic warnings about how they better not do that again or there will be consequences.

You know your empire's crumbling when you even think that there is an Axis of Evil.

You know your empire's crumbling when a rag-tag military hodge-podge of irregulars has you pinned down in an endless fight you can't win, but also can't lose.

You know your empire's crumbling when you're too dumb to even ban Humvees as a first step toward ending your dependency on a foreign-owned crucial resource.

You know your empire's crumbling when you trade your prior moral leadership on human rights issues for global disgust at your torture, 'extraordinary rendition' (a.k.a. kidnaping for torture) and the dismantling of nine centuries worth of civil liberties progress.

You know your empire's crumbling when you blow off international law that you once helped create, and undermine the institutions of international governance that you once helped build.

You know your empire's crumbling when opinion polls confirm that every month you're more and more despised throughout the world.

You know your empire's crumbling when you can't even pull off the hanging of a tin-pot murderous former dictator without turning him into a hero.

You know your empire's crumbling when you're the richest country in the world, but nearly 50 million of your people don't have basic health care coverage.

You know your empire's crumbling when the World Health Organization ranks your healthcare system 37th 'best' in the world, just above Slovenia, and just below Costa Rica. (And far below Colombia, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia and Morocco.)

You know your empire's crumbling when instead of making it easier for citizens to obtain a higher education, you're making it harder and more expensive.

You know your empire's crumbling when your government gives tax breaks to industries as a reward for exporting your jobs elsewhere.

You know your empire's crumbling when the so-called 'opposition' party can't even turn that obscenity into a viable campaign theme and use it to clobber the worst emperor in your history.

You know your empire's crumbling when your middle class has been stagnant for three decades, while the wealth of the hyper-rich continues to climb through the roof.

You know your empire's crumbling when your reaction to that is to exacerbate the problem by enacting tax policies that massively increase further still the gap between the rich and the rest.

You know your empire's crumbling when the predatory class has taken over your government and is stripping the country of everything not bolted down to the floor. And then it sells the floor itself, as well, to your rivals.

You know your empire's crumbling when you're spending tens of billions of dollars you don't own on new nuclear warheads and space weapons that don't work, to be used against an enemy you don't have.

You know your empire's crumbling when one of your cities drowns and your government does next to nothing before, during and after.

You know your empire's crumbling when a massive environmental nightmare is looming around the corner, and your emperor not only ignores it, but claims it isn't real while taking steps to exacerbate it.

You know your empire's crumbling when your emperor is warned by a CIA briefer of an imminent terrorist attack of vast proportions, and responds by remaining on vacation and dismissing the briefer with the words: "All right. You've covered your ass, now."

You know your empire's crumbling when the same emperor drops everything to fly across the country from his vacation home in order to sign a bill intervening on the wrong side of a personal medical drama involving a single family.

You know your empire's crumbling when gays and immigrants are used as diversionary issues to keep people from thinking about the pillaging of their country and their wallets actually taking place. And it works.

You know your empire's crumbling when people are getting more religious and less scientific, not the other way around.

You know your empire's crumbling when your political leaders start to be chosen by dynastic rules of succession.

And you especially know your empire's crumbling when the most idiotic child of one of the least accomplished leaders in its history is not only crowned as the next emperor, but is even revered for a time by most of the public as a great one.

Rome? Britain? Spain?

At this rate we'll be lucky to end up like Belgium.

Hace algún tiempo vi en el blog de MechanixPV un documental que me dejó reflexionando acerca de los temas de religión, política internacional y medios de comunicación, es realmente abrumador, en el sentido de que ofrece argumentos que aunque creas o no lo que dice el documental, deja la espinita para seguir investigando por tu cuenta.

Muestra argumentos contundentes sobre lo sucedido en Nueva York el 11 de septiembre del 2001, que fué un escenario planeado por los Estados Unidos para implantar miedo en la población y tener un pretexto para saquear el petroleo de Medio Oriente. Además conduce por una serie de coincidencias o razones numerológicas sobre las distintas religiones del planeta, y por si fuera poco, trata de abrirnos los ojos en los temas que realmente interesan, como el consumismo y la falsedad de los medios masivos de comunicación.

People, people, people... As you know (IF you've been listening to the show... WTF have YOU been over the last YEAR??? studying Scientology, no doubt...), we are FANATICAL about a few things. Sex being one of them... Knowledge being the MAIN, and most important one. That being said, when we found this tidbit of tasty knowledge (THX Lord!!! no that's his name... Lord... anywho...) we had to share it with you. Now, before you watch, we'll give our disclaimers...

1. This is a long movie. It is actually a documentary.
2. While we haven't had the chance to research ALL of the information in this documentary, we have been able to locate some info and will provide links after the jump.

Whether or not EVERY single piece of this movie is factual or not, we know that at least some of it is. That being said, all we can do now is provide you with the source and hope that you will be inquisitive enough to seek the answers for yourself. And remember, if the truth was so easy to see, we would all know it and no one would disagree, right?

In Part I, he delves into the myths surrounding the bible, Pagan religions and the history of the church in America and abroad. He makes some great points about God, and the truth and potential of what he/she/it is. Watch it until you really understand it, the truth of it is intensely liberating. And of course, RESEARCH IT!!!

Part II goes into the myths surrounding 9/11 and the events that were set into motion since that day. It is interesting to look at footage that we have all been force-fed about a trillion times over the last 7 years and see it through different eyes. I still get chill and come to tears when I watch, but now in the years since and the studying I have done, it is not only for those that are dead that I am upset, it is also for us. Again, do your research.

Part III addresses the World Bank and the myths surrounding the New World Order and the Federal Reserve. Did you that there are acts already at play here in this country that are setting the stage to join North America with Mexico and Canada? That soon we may be spending Ameros instead of dollars??? Whether true or not, you owe it to yourself to study the world around you more closely and know more about what your government is planning for you. ESPECIALLY NOW. What we have already known for years about the small percentage in this country that control the wealth (just check out the monikers of all the major Wall Street firms for those names), is explained in a very straightforward, almost blinding manner, but it is worth opening your mind to, if only to get the juices flowing without the use of a Red Bull or some Starbucks... M-am uitat la documentar pentru că ideile propuse sunt de-a dreptul provocatoare. Dintotdeauna adevărul a fost cea mai mare căutare a omului şi pe acest aspect se pune accent aici.

Când cineva vine şi încearcă să deschidă ochii maselor aşa cum vrea să facă acest film, apar întrebările: ce se află dincolo? Cum se poate vorbi despre manipulare, religii păgâne sau diverse secrete de stat şi apoi totul să fie etalat ca un evantai?

Faptul că anumite concepte se vor a fi desfiinţate ca glumele la un show de stand-up comedy, imaginile nu sunt în concordanţă cu textul (comentatorul vorbeşte în fundal despre lucruri serioase în timp ce vizionezi navete spaţiale) şi totul este oferit pe tavă ca şi cum a fost scos dintr-un seif pentru binele omenirii, nu mă impresionează.

Totuşi, de ce a stârnit aşa de multă furtună? Cumva pentru că pune la îndoială adevăruri care trec de puterea unui simplu mit?

Filmul poate fi vizionat online cu tot cu subtitrare aici. Ar fi interesant de dezbătut şi de analizat împreună.

Zeitgeist es un documental sin ánimo de lucro del año 2007 producido por Peter Joseph con difusión por Internet (mediante Google Video). Aunque grabado originalmente en inglés es posible encontrarlo con subtítulos en español. Es un documental a manera de intrahistoria, intenta partir de un análisis racionalista e histórico de la estrategia y cálculo político, de varias creencias religiosas e instituciones políticas y económicas.

Plantea la existencia de mecanismos de dominación absoluta dentro a las instituciones de control social convencionales, más que enfocarse en que si las intenciones son ocultas o manifiestas explora los métodos de convencimiento individual y asentimiento social de la sociedad civil ante sus dominadores.

Sin embargo, según algunas personas, trataría ciertos lugares comunes de las teorías de la conspiración a pesar de que no contiene mensajes esotéricos en su enfoque.

Tampoco presenta una "conspiración" de alguna sociedad secreta concreta, como es costumbre en las teorías conspirativas.

Otras opiniones afirman que se trataría más del formato de documental que transmite tal impresión más no la mayoría de su contenido (con excepción de la segunda mitad del tercer capítulo sobre el futuro geopolítico mundial).

El documental está estructurado en tres partes, la primera es un exposición del cristianismo como una mitología astrológica que es el terreno abonado para que las masas crean ciegamente en mitos, la segunda expone el funcionamiento de la propaganda y adoctrinación mediática logrando que los propios ciudadanos asientan ser más controlados por sus gobiernos, y la tercera habla sobre la geopolítica y economía global enfocándose en el monopolio del dinero (junto a la especulación financiera) y el gasto militar.

Primera parte: La historia más grande jamás contada.

En la primera parte del documental se describen las supuestas similitudes que existen entre la mayoría de religiones con más acólitos.

Por medio de una serie de acontecimientos y fechas se relacionan las narraciones religiosas más conocidas con la supuesta descripción astrológica que los egipcios relatan sobre el dios Horus en forma de historia mitológica.

A partir del minuto 16:10 del documental se dice que el 24 de Diciembre de cada año, Sirio forma una línea con las 3 estrellas del Cinturón de Orión, pero las estrellas están fijas en el firmamento y sus posiciones relativas no varían de un año para otro, ni siquiera en décadas o siglos. La afirmación de que una vez al año Sirio y el Cinturón de Orión están más alineados una determinada fecha que algunos días, meses o años, antes o después de esa fecha y de manera periódica es errónea.

Una exposición más rigurosa del evento astronómico se puede encontrar en la obra de Edward Carpenter "Pagan and Christian Creeds: Their Origin and Meaning".

Segunda parte: Todo el mundo es un escenario.

En este capítulo se intenta demostrar que los ataques del 11S en Nueva York y los [atentados del 7 de julio de 2005 en Londres] fueron en realidad perpretados por algún grupo de poder de EE.UU..

Esta operación de bandera falsa estaría dirigida para conseguir el beneplácito de la sociedad estadounidense para iniciar las reformas necesarias que permitirían el comienzo de una serie de "invasiones" de puntos estratégicos como son Afganistán, Iraq e Irán

Tercera parte: No prestes atención a los hombres detrás de la cortina.

En el último capítulo se detalla el nacimiento del Banco Central, la evolución del sistema monetario y por último los supuestos fines de los hombres detrás de la cortina, que irían desde la implantación de chips RFID en todas las personas del planeta, hasta la declaración de un gobierno global.

Es el capítulo donde a partir de la segunda mitad, específicamente en el tema sobre el futuro de la geopolítica, más se mezclan proyecciones sobre sucesos futuros pasando el análisis histórico, siendo este capítulo el único que podría ser considerado con toques conspiracionistas, a diferencia de los anteriores que tienden más a la intrahistoria.

¿Es la historia cristiana una parodia? ¿Jesús no es más que uno de los tantos mitos que la humanidad reiteró desde sus orígenes para el control social?. ¿Fue el 11 de setiembre  un ataque perpetrado por el propio gobierno norteamericano? ¿Los grandes banqueros son los responsables de guerras e invasiones?Estas preguntas, y otras, no son respondidas por los canales habituales de información. Un documental que se distribuye libremente por internet aporta dudas sobre nuestra realidad, y abre un debate único. Producido en Estados Unidos plantea la revolución.

En un mundo que ahora se presenta dividido entre el eje del mal y del bien, la censura y el monopolio informativo no permite el debate abierto de ciertos temas. Pero no sería nuevo. Desde el origen del hombre la necesidad de controlar a la gente ha mutado en religiones y creencias. Bajo esos pilares se constituyen sistemas sociales y políticos, que no dudan en utilizar los mitos para perpetuar en el poder a las clases dominantes.

Cuando llegó a mis manos "Zeitgeist" creía encontrarme con un documental más de los tantos que abordan la antiglobalización. Pero no. Se trataba de una elaborada historia sobre la religión más influyente del mundo (el cristianismo), sobre el atentado más conmocionante (las torres gemelas de Nueva York) y la economía bélicista más dominante (La de Estados Unidos).

Hay una cocina en el mundo que crea y ha creado un sistema de mitos y creencias para el control social. ¿Qué tiene que ver Jesús con el 11S?. ¿Qué tiene que ver el 11S con el dólar?

Una palabra extraña.

Zeitgeist  es un término alemán que significa "el espíritu (Geist) del tiempo  o época(Zeit)".

 El término Zeitgeist ha alcanzado un gran status dentro de las palabras alemanas incorporadas a otras lenguas, y se utiliza en inglés, español, portugués, holandés e incluso japonés. Semejante "globalización" del término permite que su concepto sea compartido en varias partes del planeta.

El presidente de Google escribió un artículo en el año 2006 que tituló "Zeitgeist (El espíritu actual o de la época)", pero ese término lo utiliza el principal buscador del mundo para identificar a su página de estadísticas de búsquedas. A mediados del 2006 comenzaron a difundirse capítulos de una documental  llamada "Zeitgeist" cuyas tres partes se conocieron completas un año después. Pero para hablar de este film hay que comprender que significa su título.

Zeitgesit y la filosofía.

Hay una estrecha relación entre «espíritu del pueblo»  y «espíritu de la época» (expresión con la que se traduce la palabra compuesta alemana Zeitgeist). La circulación del término se debe principalmente a Hegel y que fue recogida, y elaborada, por varios autores «románticos». Ello ocurre sobre todo cuando se entiende el espíritu de un determinado pueblo, que es el que representa un momento fundamental en el proceso de la historia. Este espíritu se manifiesta en la cultura, política, arte y religión, o en determinadas estructuras sociales y económicas.

Algunos involucran a esta definición con el conectivismo, una teoría del aprendizaje de George Siemens (2005).  En ese marco el espíritu de la época (Zeitgeist) puede describirse como un movimiento de la mass media tradicional (el paradigma transmisivo) al nuevo medio digital e interactivo (el paradigma de los medios sociales).

En ese marco también se refiere a los caracteres distintivos de las personas que se extienden en una o más generaciones posteriores que, a pesar de las diferencias de edad y el entorno socio-económico, una visión global prevalece para ese particular período de la progresión socio-cultural.

La película.

Zeitgeist es el título de la documental sin fines de lucro estrenado en su totalidad en  2007 y realizada por Peter Joseph, una persona cuyos antecedentes se limitan a su identidad con el activismo norteamericano. Para difundirlo se utilizó internet y principalmente el portal de videos de Google, lo que puede interpretarse como una posición política de la principal empresa de internet del mundo. 

Millones de personas ya han visto el film sin pagar un centavo, del cual circulan versiones subtituladas en DVD, en casi todos los idiomas.

¿Zeitgeist es un manifiesto político?. No específicamente, aunque ataca ciertas estructuras políticas tradicionales capitalistas. En su sitio de internet Peter Joseph adhiere a un candidato republicano para la presidencia de su país, Ron Paul, lo que hace más intrigante su posición. Plantea en su final una revolución "ahora" y da argumentos a países opuestos a Estados Unidos. Este film se inscribe en una reciente tendencia de documentales de protesta sobre la política norteamericana, en donde Michael Moore es el más sobresaliente. Pero Zeitgeist provoca, acusa y moviliza con mayor crudeza.

Se dice que el film  intenta un análisis racionalista e histórico de la estrategia y cálculo político, de varias creencias religiosas e instituciones políticas y económicas, en especial el cristianismo, los ataques del 11 de septiembre, la guerra contra el terrorismo, la Reserva Federal y el sistema financiero internacional.

La película se basa en esos mitos que, injertados en el espíritu de la sociedad, nunca reciben un análisis sobre su sentido o veracidad. Algunos ven en esta historia a la teoría conspirativa que envuelve el presente del hombre, mientras otros la relacionan a lo metafísico, aunque no se destacan los elementos  esotéricos.

Control  social.

Denuncia el control social de distintos poderes, la dominación a la que están expuestos casi desde siempre todos los humanos, y como los mitos contribuyen a ese fin.

Algunos ven un mensaje anarquista en la película, un intento de desacreditar las estructuras políticas actuales. Pero los argumentos expuestos (documentados a través de una investigación que duró más de un año) no dejan bien parados a quienes gobiernan el mundo desde el poder o la fe.

El documental.

El documental está estructurado en tres partes. La primera ("La mas grande historia jamás contada")  es una exposición del cristianismo como un mito, una parodia astrológica y literaria, una historia mítica reiterada, por lo menos, desde los Egipcios.

Precisamente el Dios egipcio Horus parece ser el inspirador de estas historias que luego recopila y reedita el cristianismo. Los mitos han permitido manejar con más facilitad a las masas.

La segunda parte toma como título una frase de Shakespeare "Todo el mundo es un escenario" expone el funcionamiento de la propaganda y adoctrinación mediática, logrando que los propios ciudadanos acepten ser más controlados por sus gobiernos. Aquí aparecen los ataques del 11 de setiembre de 2001 y la supuesta responsabilidad de gobierno de Bush en los mismos. Alguno de los temas de este capítulo muestran como se montó uno de los últimos mitos: El avión "invisible" estrellado en el Pentágono, elagujero en el suelo como única prueba del avión que se estrelló en Pennsylvania y el derrumbe "controlado " de la torre 7 del World Trade Center, cuando ya habian caído las dos torres principales, en una auténtica "demolición" desde los cimientos.  El segmento atribuye estas maniobras para manipular a la opinión pública y avalar el avance militar en Afganistan e Irak.

La tercera sección (El hombre detrás de la cortina)  habla sobre la geopolítica y economía global enfocándose en el monopolio del dinero (junto a la especulación financiera) y el gasto militar. La banca como generador de conflictos para aumentar su poder y su participación en sucesos inventados con el fin de provocar inestabilidad que incremente sus ganancias. Aquí aparece el Amero como futura moneda única, tema que abordé en otro post de este blog.

En los tiempos que corren, con un mundo que algunos quieren cambiar y otros dejarlo así, vale la pena ver este trabajo documental. Las conclusiones las tendrá cada uno de acuerdo a sus valores y creencias, pero no me cabe ninguna duda, de que algo quedará en su mente que lo inquietará hasta el fin de sus días.

Para octubre de 2008 prometen una nueva película con otas historias. Pero la que está vigente es imperdible.

Thanks for the links. I'll have to check out the debunks even though I doubt I'll agree with a lot of it. Always good to see others' perspectives, though. Peter Joseph (Zeitgeist's creator) himself has written "It is my hope that people will not take what is said
in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves, for truth is not told, it is realized."

Do I think everything in the movie is 100% accurate? No. Do I think that it is worth watching and researching? Absolutely. Do I think attempting a good faith debunk and/or critique is a worthwhile effort? Yes, while emphasizing "good faith". Most debunks which I see seem to have an agenda which seems to translate roughly as follows- "it's all BS, and you should take my word for it because I've obviously put a lot of effort into this website and nobody really follows all the endnotes on these things anyway- just link to this page in forums like a good sheep and repeat after me- "it's all been debunked"".

Having looked a little bit at the "debunk" I'll provide a few links of interest for Parts 2 and 3. I'm not about to attempt a full on debunk, analysis or critique of the "debunk". It's just not worth the effort. If Dick Cheney had written it, I might think otherwise.

Since part 1 of the movie has a complete interactive transcript with sources and additional reading on the zeitgeistmovie.com site and Peter Joseph has addressed debunk attempts of it in his FAQs, I figure it stands or falls on its own merits or lack thereof at this point.

For exploring Part 2 of the "debunk" an indispensible reference will be The 9/11 Complete 9/11 Timeline- mainstream media sources used and linked to as sources.  Example: point one- Mahmood Ahmed

The author of the debunk uses sentences such as

I can find no sources of such an event -- that is sources that do not occur on conspiracy web sites themselves.

This seems disingenuous. How hard did the author actually look for those original sources? Also, many of the original source articles on 9/11 are no longer easily findable online except on "conspiracy theory sites". Does this mean that the original source article never existed? No. One just has to dig around in the internet archives or at the public library to find those sources; but if one dismisses a resource such as the Complete Timeline as "conspiracy theory" one will indeed have a hard time finding those articles.

The author uses Popular Mechanics as a reference source. Part II notes #33 and #34, for example. Readers can easily find online debunks of that article.  He said, she said... so who does one believe?

I found source of the quote. It is apparently a letter sent from Roosevelt to Colonel Edward M House, and apparently can be received from Sterling Library at Yale University or from Radio Liberty. After hours of searching, I could not find a single location on the Internet that references this letter that is not a conspiracy site or is from a post on a forum written by someone who is promoting a conspiracy theory. More so, searching Yale's library database yielded nothing. I found plenty of letters, but not this one.

I found the quote elsewhere than on a "conspiracy theory site"- Webskeptic lists the quote as underdetermined. Webskeptic may or may not be more well researched or accurate than the "debunk" this post deals with, but at least it appears to be a bit more balanced in terms of a critique.

Looking a bit more for the source of the quote I found the following here:

whether one agrees with the POV of angelfire or Perloff, one could probably verify or refute the accuracy of the quote given that information, I think. See, the interesting thing about all of this is that not all books are currently searchable online. So if Peter Joseph has read The Shadows of Power (what do you know, he claims to have done! or at least cites it as a source) then he may well indeed be able to source all these underdetermined quotes which appear in the movie... whether debunkers will buy those sources or not is another question, of course.

And I've spent enough energy writing this post for one night, I think. Where DO these "debunkers" find the time? Maybe some of them "secretly" get paid to do this type of stuff? Who knows, eh?
