Beberapa hari yang lalu, komputer di kantor yang 'telanjang' (karena tidak ber-anti virus sama sekali) kemasukan virus dari media flashdisk. Virus tersebut membuat sebuah folder didalam folder yang kita buka, dengan nama yang sama. Hanya saja folder buatan alias kloning tersebut tidak ada isinya. Sudah begitu, setiap kali kita membuka sebuah folder, terlebih dulu akan muncul pesan kira-kira begini: 'Attention! Dangerous trojan horses detected in your system...'. Virus tersebut juga membuat komputer jadi lelet. Dan yang parah, virus tersebut membuat komputer shutdown sendiri.

Saya nggak akan berpanjang-panjang cerita. Yang pasti, akhirnya virus tersebut berikut segenap efek yang ditimbulkannya berhasil saya atasi, tanpa memformat ulang komputer. Alhamdulillah! Ini kesekian kalinya saya mengatasi virus komputer tanpa perlu memformat ulang. Gimana caranya? Yang paling mudah, browsing saja di internet, biasanya solusinya bisa kita dapatkan disana dari kasus orang lain yang sama dan sudah terpecahkan.

Pengalaman menarik yang saya dapat selama berusaha mengobati virus adalah bisa mencoba-coba berbagai macam antivirus. Saya memang sengaja melakukan hal itu dalam rangka untuk memilih antivirus yang paling tepat untuk saya pasang di komputer. Saya pikir memilih itu harus karena memang dihadapan kita ada banyak antivirus yang tidak mungkin kita pakai semuanya. Kalau semua antivirus kita pasang, biasanya justru akan crash satu sama lain. Letak seni memilihnya adalah bagaimana kita memilih antivirus yang paling tepat dan kalaupun harus mengkombinasikan dua atau tiga antivirus maka kombinasi itu adalah kombinasi yang saling melengkapi dan tidak crash satu sama lain.

Antivirus sendiri ada yang paid (berbayar), ada yang free, dan ada yang trial. Kalau paid, sudah pasti fitur-fiturnya lebih lengkap dan waktu pakainya unlimited. Kalau yang free biasanya juga bisa dipakai unlimited, hanya saja fitur-fitur yang tersedia sengaja dibatasi. Kalau yang trial, disamping fitur-fiturnya terbatas, biasanya juga hanya bisa dipakai untuk jangka waktu tertentu misalnya 30 hari.

Sebagian kalangan juga mengklasifikasikan antivirus atas antivirus global dan antivirus lokal. Antivirus global adalah antivirus yang dibuat oleh orang bule, untuk menangkal virus-virus yang juga bule. Adapun antivirus lokal adalah antivirus yang dibuat oleh saudara sebangsa dan setanah air kita, dan biasanya lebih ampuh dan mujarab dalam menangkal virus-virus lokal.

Sejauh ini beberapa antivirus yang sudah pernah saya pakai antara lain: Norton, McAfee, Symantec, AVG, Eset NOD32, Avira, PCMAV, dan ANSAV. Untuk kali ini, pilihan saya jatuh pada Avira Free dipadu dengan PCMAV yang memakai database tambahan dari ClamAV. Saya merasa, kombinasi dua antivirus ini benar-benar handal dalam menangkal berbagai macam ancaman virus. Avira difokuskan untuk menangkal virus-virus global sedangkan PCMAV difokuskan untuk menangkal virus-virus lokal. Penambahan database ClamAV pada PCMAV adalah untuk memperkaya virus signature-nya, artinya akan semakin banyak virus yang bisa dikenali (kalau tidak salah mencapai angka 341.670 virus signature, sungguh dahsyat). Dan yang penting, baik Avira Free maupun PCMAV sama-sama gratisan. Update-nya pun gratis. Hebat kan? Semoga saja sesudah ini tidak akan ada lagi virus yang bisa bersarang. Amin.

Menggunakan PCMAV dengan Parameter

Sejak PC Media Antivirus (PCMAV) 1.0 Final Release, dikenalkan adanya fitur baru yang sebelumnya tidak terdokumentasikan yaitu adanya parameter yang dapat digunakan ketika menjalankan PCMAV. Parameter-parameter yang saat ini dapat digunakan adalah:

/REGSHELL
Untuk menampilkan pilihan "Scan with PCMAV" pada saat klik kanan file yang akan di-scan.
/UNREGSHELL
Untuk menghapus pilihan "Scan with PCMAV".
/FORCE
Mengizinkan PCMAV untuk memaksa membersihkan file yang terinfeksi.
/REGCLEAN
Mencoba mengembalikan registry dan setting "Tools Folder Options" ke kondisi default.
/NOMEM
Tidak perlu scan memory.
/NOSTARTUP
Tidak perlu melakukan scan pada saat startup PCMAV.
/NOUPDATE
Tidak perlu melakukan cek update.
