“Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.

"Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation." Zechariah 2:13

Some churches are quiet and silent as part of a requirement - people believe that their silence before the service begins is reverent. Perhaps in part it is. But, is it not much more reverent, to offer the Lord the praise and the worship that He deserves, lifting our voices before Him and then being caused to become silent because we realize that His Spirit is descending upon us as He touches us from His holy habitation?

Being in the Presence of the Lord happens in the middle of worship, the Lord allows us to feel His presence, and there our lives are changed.

Church leadership magazines are only now beginning to publish what some pastors have already known for years: the marketing that so-called "church growth experts" have put into place doesn't work in every church. That same marketing is supposed to help people get into the Presence of the Lord, too.

We've gotten all sorts of literature in the mail saying that a new church plant needs to do x, y, and z and poof, there will be a huge crowd of passionate worshipers who know the Presence of the Lord. A huge crowd, I guess that could happen. Passionate worshippers - that takes attentive discipleship, not aggressive marketing. And most people seem to have been in the church for years and still not be able to identify having experienced being in God's presence --- now there is the problem.

Though, it seems that most people don't really want an authentic encounter with the Lord. People don't really want to be the Holy of Holies. If they did, they'd do things differently.

Being in the presence of the Lord means being in the place where all of you becomes transparent, and you don't care who sees you crying in repentance or laughing in joy. Being in the presence of the Lord is being with your Savior, your Father, the Lover of your soul. So it takes time and it takes a little determination. It means making a commitment to not make excuses or say you're too busy for Jesus. Maybe that sounds harsh, but its true, admit it! It takes determination to spend time with the Lord.

Why determination? After all, your Father in Heaven wants you to enter into that place... but, yes, it takes some determination because you have to determine that you won't settle for less. You won't stop praising Him and worshiping Him until you have reached His Presence.

In the presence of the Lord, the church will hardly even need worship leaders. God is the one who will be leading us by the very presence of His Holy Spirit.

If you want to know God in a way you never have before and experience what it means to live life by His Spirit and enter into His Presence, be a part of Raveh. It is a new ministry, and we need passionate people like you to help us grow and impact the communities of Cary, Morrisville, Apex, and Raleigh for the Gospel. The Lord wants His people to be silent before Him out of awe, not out of "religious obligation." If you truly want to know God and honor Him, He will allow you to be in His presence.

If you are hungering and thirsting for a touch from God, please contact us today! We look forward to meeting you and ministering to you in this most important area of your life - helping you to worship God!

Everyone who goes to church, any church, has a certain motivation. Some people go to church because they want to instill Godly values in their children. Others go simply to attempt to appease God but try to hide in the shadows. Some people go to church in order to enlarge their social circle - sadly enough, there are some who go to church just to be seen by others – modern day Pharisees.

And there are some people who are faithful to Jesus, who attend church not out of obligation or fear, but rather to worship God in the company of their brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.

But why? Pero por que?

Something must have happened. Algo paso.

Something must have happened to you that has caused you to desire to worship this God, the Holy One of Israel. Countless people have been raised in churches, taught to love Jesus, but have never really encountered Him in such a way as to cause them to surrender and bow down and worship Him with all their heart, soul, and mind.

Anytime there is a lasting change in someone’s life, it is because something has happened. It is not always a good or positive change.

Isn’t it interesting that changes for the worse seem to come about easier and more quickly that a change for the better. According to scientists, it takes 21 days of practicing a new, good habit, before it sticks. So for an alcoholic to get any better, he can’t drink for 3 solid weeks before he might make some progress. But that one night out with friends, just once, not even a full week of partying, is enough to cause someone to spiral back into destruction.

The enemy tries to cause enough chaos and havoc in our lives so that in an instant, our entire future can be diverted.

But God is Almighty. And Jesus lives.

Pero Dios es Todopodoroso. Y Jesus vive.

And if Satan can affect our lives for the worse in an instant, by causing a car accident or tempting us with an addiction …

Jesus surely can change our lives for His will and His glory in an instant, in less than a millisecond, faster than any speed of light. Jesus can destroy the works of the enemy. Jesus can heal us. Jesus can set us free.

Whenever your life has been changed, you talk about it don’t you? You got a raise, or you’re gonna have a baby, or your child just received an award at school. Your word becomes a testimony to what you are living through.

In the same way, everyone here knows what it means to testify. Testifying to the court means that you solemnly swear that you know what did or did not happen to you or to another person. Testifying to the power of the Gospel means that you know and declare that what Jesus has done for you He can do for anyone else.

The power of testimony has been one of the most effective forms of evangelism throughout history. People believe what other people say. Even when its not true, look at gossip. When a person has a story to tell, people will listen because they know they themselves have a story to tell. The flood victims in Iowa will one day be telling their stories just like Hurricane Katrina victims. Events in our lives forge new relationships and cause us to talk about what has happened and out of the midst of destruction, from the middle of the strongest storm, beyond the fire, there is that still, small voice (1 Kings 19:12). The voice of the Spirit reminding us that God is in control.

And I don’t know about you, but it is important to me that God is in control. There are too many things that happen in life that cause me to feel completely powerless and a little out of control. But, God has it all already figured out. We just have to trust Him.

Let’s look at John 4:39-42. Vamos a ver Juan 4:39-42.

Samaritans asking Jesus to stay. This word stay/“meno” (Gk) is typically translated “abide.” So its more than physically staying, there is a lasting spiritual presence related to their request.

This follows the passage about the woman at the well, a Samaritan. Do you know that’s the longest passage in Scripture in which Jesus talks to a woman, so it is of great significance. Jesus has a new bride – a new covenant, a new relationship with outsiders (people not from Jerusalem) and this woman symbolizes this.

Verse 41 says they believed because of His Word.

Versiculo 41 – ellos creyeron por su Palabra.

Verse 42a – not because of what the woman said.

So testifying is very important. It encourages the believers and

gives reason for nonbelievers to consider our Christ.

But 1 thing is even more effective, even more powerful:

Verse 42b – We have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world (no longer only for the Jews, but Gentiles too.)

Their statement is not intended to downplay the woman’s testimony. Were it not for her testimony, these Samaritans may not have known because look at verse 39. “many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, He told me all the things that I have done.”

But they say, We have heard for ourselves.(v. 42)

This emphasizes the need for a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. He knows what is on your mind right now. He knows what you’re up against. Jesus knows the condition of your heart.

And He knows all about the surprise we experience when we have to stand back and say “something just happened and we encountered it ourselves.” The tomb was empty! Something indeed has happened.

As this church grows, we will testify to the new families and new believers who come our way, but what Salvador and I desire most is for them and each one of you to constantly encounter the Living Christ Jesus. We can preach and teach and call and anything else that pastors do, but if you are not experiencing what it is to be in the Presence of God and enter into the Holy of Holies, our work is in vain.

When you have a dynamic relationship with Jesus, you will feel called to serve or be in a leadership capacity with us or to simply witness to a new family who comes. We are part of Christ’s body and we will all need to do our part to help this church grow to what God has called it be.

If you have been saved and filled with His Spirit, your responsibility is not much different than that of a preacher. All Christians are called to lead others into a personal relationship and personal encounter with Jesus, the Savior of the World.

"You have turned my mourning into dancing." Psalm 30:11

In some churches, praise and worship has become a routine beginning at a set hour each Sunday in which instrumentalists and singers lead a group of overly relaxed coffee drinking bystanders who have become convinced that they are actually participating in worship just by lifting up a hand every now and then. Dance is not only for the women and dance is not only for those who "feel like it." Dance is an expression of the joy that we have in being liberated in Christ and there are plenty of Biblical examples in which dance is more than acceptable, but rather something that the people of Israel are encouraged to do in order to bring glory to the Lord God of Israel.

What happens on the stage should be just the beginning. Bob Sorge has written an excellent book on this topic in which he talks about the way the congregation should really be the leaders as everyone seeks to be immersed in the glorious river of God. When our hands are lifted and the song rises to the heavens, we should lose ourselves in the glory of His Presence and desire nothing more than to fully express ourselves to our Father and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us in praise and worship.

Davidic dance is often part of true worship. The Bible is full of examples in which this form of dance should be a part of worship because we surrender our dignity to dance before the Holy One of Israel. When dance is worldly and evocative, that dance must be stopped, but dance bursting forth as a worshiper delves deep into the Presence of God is beautiful, holy, and should be encouraged.

A very good explanation of the way that dance serves to glorify God during worship:

"Dance was an integral part of the celebrations of the ancient Israelites. It was used both in worship in ordinary life and on occasions of triumphant victory and festivity. The sacred dance mediated between God and humanity, thus bringing the Israelites into a closer relationship with their God, Jehovah.

In many Old Testament biblical allusions to, and descriptions of, dance there is no disapproval, only affirmation of this medium of worship. The people are exhorted to praise God with 'dancing, making melody to him with timbrel and lyre' (Psalm 149:3), and to 'praise him with timbrel and dance' (Psalm 150:4). Dancing is so common that in passages alluding to rejoicing without specific mention of dancing, it can be assumed dance is implied (Gagne 1984:24).

The most frequently used root for the word 'dance' in the Old Testament is hul which refers to the whirl of the dance and implies highly active movement. Of the 44 words in the Hebrew language for dancing, only in one is there a possible reference to secular movement as distinct from religious dancing (Clarke and Crisp 1981:35).

The types of dance used in Israelite society included the circular or ring dance, as well as the processional dance. These were often used to celebrate specific events as when David and the people of Israel danced before the Ark of the Lord, which represented the presence of God (2 Samuel 6:14).

A third type of dance included hopping and whirling movements which were exuberant with joy. At the defeat of Pharaoh's armies following the crossing of the Red Sea, 'Miriam, the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances' (Exodus 15:20). When David slew Goliath, the women sang 'to one another in dance' (1 Samuel 29:5).

Each of these forms of dance found an expression in daily life and at festival times. At the Feast of Tabernacles, for instance, 'pious men danced with torches in their hands and sang songs of joy and praise, while the Levites played all sorts of instruments. The dance drew crowds of spectators ... It did not end until the morning at a given sign' (Gagne 1984:30). The revered tradition of community celebration found its expression through movement . . . . " (Lucinda Coleman, "Worship God in Dance.")

Right now, Raveh is still a growing church. We will be moving into the new Cary Church of God building in July or early August, depending on when construction is all finished. In the meantime, a faithful group of believers is meeting, and we are preparing disciples so that when we have a space to truly worship freely, we can exalt God together through singing, dancing, raising our banners, and praising His Most Holy Name as prescribed in the Bible. True revival will only come when we surrender ourselves to the Holy Spirit!

Worship ministries exist in all different forms, and we believe that God will design a worship team at Raveh that will be a true blessing to the nations. If you have any experience leading a Messianic/Davidic dance team and would like the opportunity to work with us as our church plant grows, please contact us!

Dios empeso a obrar.

When you convert to Christ, you also invite the Holy Spirit into your life. We need to open ourselves up a little more, and not only invite the Holy Spirit to work in us, but also to fully indwell us, to baptize us in the fire of the Holy Ghost. Some people interpret being "filled" with the Holy Spirit as joy. That is a major component, and it is accurate that those who are filled with the Holy Spirit obtain an indescribable joy that the world cannot offer. However, there is a joy much deeper, and it is accompanied by the very same events that occurred the day of Pentecost when God poured His Holy Fire upon the people and they began not only to speak in other languages but to have a miracle of ears, to be able to hear and understand those other languages.

Download: Audio

In order to be informed Christians, and educated Pentecostals, (no, that is not an oxymoron) we need to know what other people are saying (to know - but not necessarily to agree). At Raveh, we believe in Pentecostal doctrine, so we do not agree with a lot of the famous "theologians" who claim to know God but in reality only talk about Him. We know that there is an experience that must accompany education, and that experience can only be found when we know and worship Jesus Christ and desire to receive the baptism by fire that He promised us in His Word. John Piper, a guy who means well and is probably saved but who doesn't understand Pentecost, wrote something titled "Be Filled with the Spirit." He writes:"The apostle Paul commands in Ephesians 5:18 that we be filled with the Spirit . . . . I think being filled with the Spirit means, basically, having great joy in God. And since the Bible teaches that "the joy of the Lord is our strength" (Nehemiah 8:10), it also means there will be power in this joy for overcoming besetting sins and for boldness in witness. But, basically, it means radiant joy, because the Spirit who fills us is the Spirit of joy that flows between God the Father and God the Son because of the delight they have in each other . . . . With the spread of Pentecostalism in this country and in the third world, there has been a lot of discussion about the New Testament phrases "filled with the Spirit" and "baptized with the Spirit." I feel some obligation, therefore, today not merely to interpret Ephesians 5:18 in its immediate context, but also to orient what I say in the wider New Testament teaching....

(To see article in original context, click here)

To be oriented in the wider New Testament teaching is to recognize that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not merely what Piper goes on to attribute to John the Baptist. Jesus Himself promised that the disciples would receive power from on high. What is refreshing about Piper's viewpoint is that while we disagree, he is moderate enough to say that the gift of tongues is for today and did not pass away in the 1st century as some fundamentalists mistakingly suggest. Piper is right that there is a special joy that comes with the Holy Spirit, but when one receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, the joy cannot even be contained. The joy bursts forth in the form of a heavenly language and we are able to speak intimately with our Father in heaven. It is a radiant joy.

Whether you agree with tongues doctrine or not (you should, but no one will force you!) we can agree that everyone needs to find that unspeakable uncontainable joy that is in Jesus the Messiah.

And to have joy, you need to be filled.

Filled with love.

Filled with mercy.

Filled with hope.

Filled with the mighty power of the Holy Spirit. It is something beautiful, but you must ask the Lord for it. The Word of God says when we ask we receive and when we humble ourselves God hears from heaven and answers us. Pursue the Lord. Pursue His love. And pursue the promise that He has for you.

There is a good reason for you to eat your vegetables and enjoy them.

I guess if you want to lower your cholesterol that might be the number 1 reason, but let's think spiritually.

If you had a choice between a eating (either meal in the scenario is free) a big juicy piece of meat or a handful of radishes and tomatoes, you would probably opt for the carnivorous option (unless you're a vegetarian). By the way, here's an opinionated side note - Jesus ate fish and kosher meat, so don't think yourself highly spiritual for living on lettuce. No where in the Bible does Jesus ask you to be a rabbit.

That aside, the piece of meat would be worth more to you and would fill you up better, so radishes and tomatoes would probably not be your choice.

Now, let's add something to the scenario.

Would you still want the steak or chicken if you had to share the meal with the crabbiest, most ungrateful, most annoying person you know?

Or would you choose to eat peas and carrots just because the meal was going to be shared with the kindest, most conversational and interesting person in the world?

Which is more important? The food or the company with whom you must share it?

The book of Proverbs is full of the wisest sayings known to humankind. Why? Because it was inspired by the very Spirit of the Lord God Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

Proverbs 15:17 "Better is a dish of vegetables where love is than a fattened ox served with hatred."

What are you dishing out? Are you a kindhearted person with whom others will choose to spend their time? Are you thoughtful and generous? You don't like to be on the receiving end of grumpyness, so do you really think anyone else wants to hear your wrath?

Eat your vegetables in peace. There is no point in lavishly indulging yourself in the company of enemies. Why spend $100 on an elegant dinner out when you don't show love to the people with whom you interact?

Even if its a coworker you don't like, learn to love them. Your attitude toward them could very well lead them to Jesus.

Husbands and wives - if you are not eating together in peace and there is strife in your home, the solution is not divorce (unless abuse has occurred and its a safety issue). The solution is learning to break bread together, putting Jesus in the center of your relationship and learning to live on the veggies that is the good Word of God rather than indulging your sinful flesh who wants to cause discord and strife. What's the point of eating a great meal if all you do is argue?

Talk to your pastors. Pray together. Seek counsel as needed. But don't let the enemy continue to sow discord in your life. Learn how to share a good meal together with whomever it is that you are having difficulty and by all means, if it is you who is making someone else's life difficult, pray, and seek the guidance of God so that together you can overcome.

Serve up everything with love. And you will be healthy, both physically and spiritually.

We want to thank the Madden family of Cary for the beautiful piano - what a blessing to our ministry! It will be used in our worship services for the glory of our Lord Jesus.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we dedicate this instrument of praise unto You and we praise You, Holy Spirit, for touching the hearts of this family to give us this piano. Lord God, use us mightily in your service and anoint your musicians who will use this piano for many years to come, that the music played glorify Your Holy name. You alone are worthy of praise and adoracion; Your Word teaches us to praise You: in accordance with Your Word, we will sing a new song (Psalm 144:9), we will make a joyful noise (Psalm 98:4-6), we will lift our hands in the sanctuary (Psalm 134:2), and we will love you, O Lord our God, with all of our hearts (Mark 12:30). Thank You for Your provision in our lives, Father, and thank You most of all for Your gift of salvation, O Lord. Our lives exist only because You created us; our ministry exists only because You chose us. We pray for those who do not know the sweet sound of music that is dedicated/inspired by Your Holy Spirit, open their ears O Lord (Isaiah 55:3), that they may hear Your fresh Word and enter into communion with You. We worship You and exalt Your name, Hallelujah! Amen!

To me, earthquakes seem like one of the most terrifying things a person could live through. I

To me, earthquakes seem like one of the most terrifying things a person could live through. I've only been out to California twice, and both times believe you me I was praying not to get crushed in an earthquake! The mere thought is frightening!

Granted, North Carolina gets slammed by hurricanes every now and then. So, maybe its all in what you've grown accustomed to. Anyway, back to earthquakes. If the earth were to tremble beneath your feet at a magnitude of great force, you would be at least a little shook up, even if you were used to tremors.

When God wants to get a point across, sometimes He speaks through natural occurrences other times entirely supernaturally. He is the God who speaks calm in the midst of the storm. He is the God before whom one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. So, sometimes, a great earthquake accompanies the message. (Remember the crucifixion)

Well, in Acts 17, Paul and Silas are famously in jail, but not disheartened. They prayed and sang praise to the Lord (Acts 17:25) and they were witnesses by that action. Other prisoners listened to them and undoubtedly were touched by the strength Paul and Silas demonstrated by not letting any amount of persecution cause them fear or discouragment.

As they sang, there was a breakthrough. Acts 17:26 tells us that "Suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were unfastened."

That's power, y'all. That is power.

God works in specific ways at specific times for specific purposes. He has a specific purpose for your life, too.

Maybe you need an earthquake of sorts to occur in your life to bring about a necessary change. Earthquakes occur without warning. The best laid disaster plans cannot prepare a city for a huge earthquake.

In the middle of that earthquake, God can be your refuge and your strength, your strong tower of protection.

If an earthquake seems to have just shaken up your life, do not be troubled. See the opportunity in it all. It can be really hard to find joy in pain, but if you trust in God, there is joy to be found.

After the great earthquake, the one responsible for holding Paul and Silas prisoners - the jailer - was about to commit suicide because he was afraid that Paul and Silas had escaped.

Who or what is holding you prisoner? The power of the Holy Spirit can break those chains that bind your heart.

The jailer trembled with fear and fell down before Paul and Silas and asked a critical question:

"What must I do to be saved?" (Acts 17:30)

Are you ready to ask that same question? There are so many religious doctrines and it can be really hard to figure out who to trust? But this is the critical question that you must ask. Here at Raveh Church, we can help you discern what is the right answer to that life or death question. It is laid out plainly in Acts 17 verse 31:

Paul and Silas said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

The answer is not running away. The answer isn't drugs. The answer is certainly not suicide. The jailer didn't end up killing himself, he ended up accepting the Truth that Jesus is Lord.

Afterward, the Bible records that Paul and Silas shared the Word of God with them there in the home. Right now, until our church grows larger, we are a house church. We model it after the house churches in the book of Acts, believing that God has a special blessing for those ministries that meet and fellowship in homes. The home is a place of welcome and of security. You are welcome to join us.

When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your household may not all agree with your decision. They may call you crazy. Trust in the unfailing Word of God, His promises are sure. When you believe in Jesus and trust in Him with all your heart, pray: you will see that your household will be saved as well.

We'd like to invite you to make a decision today to follow Jesus. If you would like to talk about your spiritual journey, you are welcome to call us at 919-439-3342, send us an email pastors.raveh@gmail.com or visit us on Mondays or Thursdays at 7pm.

Do not get caught up in the earthquake: be set free.

44 Y todos los que creían estaban juntos; y tenían todas las cosas comunes;

(Llamanos! 919-439-3342)
