Just a quick update. Things are moving at full speed with New Student Welcome Night being just around the corner! Please remember SFSU in your prayers as we prepare for NSWN, the fall and for today's dorm move in. The campus is starting to show signs of the new upcoming semester! UC Berkeley's NSWN is coming up real soon, so let's pray for them as well.

Alright, to the post. Have you been to Pastor Ed's blog site recently? He has a poll up where he would like to hear back from you, Gracepoint Fellowship Church members, on what kinds of posts you'd like to see. Pator Ed's witty humor? His thoughts on this week's DT? More about his life? All of the above?? So, if you haven't already done so, now is the time! http://edkang.wordpress.com/2008/08/16/gracepoint-fellowship-church-pol

Welcome to my blog! I think this blog will have a lot of photos, maybe some song lyrics, quotes, tho

Welcome to my blog! I think this blog will have a lot of photos, maybe some song lyrics, quotes, thoughts and stories from SF State Koinonia and Gracepoint Fellowship Church. I thought about what I would want to write for my first official post but couldn't think of anything in particular. In the meantime, a photo I found in Pastor Jonathan's (from Waypoint Community Church in Davis) blog site. This photo is of Pastor Ed Kang and his wife Kelly Kang from Gracepoint Fellowship Church from 1989. I've been attending Gracepoint for nearly 20 years now! They know me very well, inside and out, through the good times and bad and I am so thankful for their presence in my life. I hope you have many people like them in your life.. I do and I'm very blessed.

More to come in another post. Gotta get to bed.. I'm a working person now.

As the weather improves in the North Bay, that means it’s time to take out those rusty fishing

As the weather improves in the North Bay, that means it's time to take out those rusty fishing poles and do some fishing. It reminds me of last year when I took a trip out to the Sierras with my peers and Pastor Ed Kang to a small lake which had some bass waiting to be caught. Here's a video of of my peer Steve catching watch Richard called "the first catch of his life."

In the end it doesn't matter if it's the first or 100th fish caught. We enjoyed it over a nice table fellowship meal.

Here's a photo of with Richard, Steve, Rick, Pastor Ed Kang, and Daniel. We deliberately are displaying our healthy eating by holding up salad (Steve) and a bottle of healthy salad dressing (Pastor Ed Kang).

Knowing someone for 20 years is a long time. And having been known very well by someone for 20 year

Knowing someone for 20 years is a long time. And having been known very well by someone for 20 years is even longer. I still remember that day in 1988 when I first met Pastor Ed and Kelly Kang (of Gracepoint Fellowship Church) at a Chinese restaurant on University Avenue in Berkeley. They thought that I was a FOB who couldn't speak English! (I'm still shocked by that, Pastor Ed; was it my hairstyle?) Well, to their surprise, when I opened my mouth, I spoke English without any accent to speak of!

Throughout the past 20 years, they've forgiven me at my worst, been gracious at my best, and loved me through all the stages in between. I'm a far better minister because of what I learned from them. I'm a far better husband because of the marriage counseling I've received from them (for free!). I'm a far better father because of the example of parenting they demonstrated. All in all, I'm better by far because of their presence in my life.

Everyone needs a spiritual mentor, a shepherd, a leader, a pastor, or whatever you call them, as long as you call on them to lead you to Jesus. My wife and I are blessed to have Pastor Ed and Kelly to call on. And I'm sure that we'll continue to call on them for the next 20 years to come. By that time, we'd be old and gray, sitting at a Chinese restaurant reminiscing the good old days when I was an English-speaking FOB... :)

Thank you, Pastor Ed and Kelly, for your perseverance, your steadfast commitment to the Truth, your tireless service to the Lord, and for pointing the way to Jesus these past 20 years!

I am truly blessed to have spiritual mentors who have guided me in my spiritual journey with God, marriage, and ministry for the past 14 years.
Pastor Ed and Kelly Kang (of Gracepoint Fellowship Church) have been there to lead my husband Joong and me through the up's and down's of life, marriage, parenting, and ministry. Without their love, prayers, and support for the past 14 years, I would not be the person that I am today. I thank God for placing such godly people in my life.
