Y aun así, el teorema figura siempre como el comienzo oficial y arbitrario de la matemática en la cultura occidental (como si se pudiera elegir un solo momento), según monstruos intelectuales como Bertrand Russell and Ludwig Wittgenstein. Como Sócrates, Pitágoras no dejó ningún texto, ni uno solo, del cual absorber directamente su pensamiento, sin intermediarios. Todo lo que se sabe de él, se conoce gracias a generaciones de filósofos e historiadores que, como sucedió con casi toda figura enorme e inabarcable, siempre se las ingeniaron para agrandar, embellecer y borrar bajezas, convirtiendo al hombre de carne y hueso, con necesidades biológicas como cualquier otro, en una divinidad terrestre. Tal vez ahí esté el secreto de la persistencia de ciertos ídolos: quizá sólo con la protección que les proporciona el mito son capaces de atravesar las turbulencias de la historia. Pitágoras sobrevivió a través de sus discípulos, que se agruparon en lo que hoy se llamaría una secta, un todo organizado que en vez de arrodillarse ante dioses paganos y practicar sacrificios bárbaros, adoraron a lo más abstracto del plano existencial: los números. Si hubiera existido para la época, los pitagóricos habrían abrazado la numerología, como escape de la pesadez de la realidad. El misticismo matemático que profesaban era tal que allí donde miraran, ellos veían números; números en las flores, números en el aire, números en la caída de una cascada. Las cifras les proporcionaban confort, un escudo para protegerse de las incoherencias vivenciales y del sinsentido del día a día. El número, para ellos, no era el representante de lo abstracto y lo inteligible, no era un ente ideal, ni una intelectualización. Su sentido era plenamente ontológico; eran la materia prima del universo. Un concepto del que luego Galileo se agarraría para asegurar que la naturaleza es un libro escrito en lenguaje matemático. El enfoque geométrico que le asignaron los pitagóricos a lo existente los condujo a homologar el número con el punto y la línea. Así se entiende su visión numérica del universo: los objetos son la combinación de superficies formadas por líneas a su vez hechas de puntos. Pertenecer, sí, tenía sus privilegios, pero también sus sacrificios. Contemporáneo de Buda y Confucio, Pitágoras llegó a la matemática como camino para la purificación del alma. Creía que los secretos del cosmos se revelaban a través del puro pensamiento, mediante la deducción y la reflexión analítica del mundo perceptible. No planteaban separación alguna entre lo racional y lo mágico. Consideraban que la Tierra era esférica y que junto a los demás planetas, giraba, con el Sol, alrededor al “fuego central” o “corazón del Cosmos”, que identificaban con el número uno. Los pitagóricos se reconocían entre sí mediante el símbolo del pentagrama (una estrella de cinco puntas), que emparentaban con “salud”. Aun así, los pitagóricos tenían un número favorito y perfecto: el 10 o “tetraktys”, que formaba una figura para ellos sagrada. El 10 resulta de sumar 1+2+3+4, o lo que es lo mismo, los cuatro primeros números enteros. Tanto secreto, tanta magia, tanto número, despertaron también el odio fuera del grupo. Algunas de las características de las nuevas tecnologías se incorporan directamente a los nuevos modelos de ciudad: la movilidad, la inmediatez, el cambio constante y, quizás también, la superficialidad y el consumo. Lo tecnológico y la ciudad están en un proceso mutuo de construcción constante, en el cual nosotros también somos construidos y participamos como actores. El modo de desarrollo informacional introduce una serie de contradicciones estructurales con respecto al modelo industrial de desarrollo, generador de la ciudad industrial. Aquél no es una estructura rígida sino un constante proceso de cambio basado en la interacción entre tecnología y organización. Por ello las formas espaciales de la Ciudad Informacional no vienen determinadas por los requisitos tecnológicos, lo que da lugar a entornos urbanos tremendamente flexibles en el espacio y cambiantes en el tiempo. Por otro lado, el modo de desarrollo informacional comporta una reestructuración de la fuerza de trabajo que está dando lugar a la vez a fenómenos de crecimiento y de declive sectorial.

Todo ello genera una fuerza de trabajo altamente polarizada, lo que conlleva diferentes estilos de vida y diferentes espacios urbanos. Pero de ello no resultan dos mundos sino un mundo plagado de fragmentos claramente definidos y con escasa comunicación entre ellos. El resultado es una estructura espacial que combina segregación, diversidad y jerarquía.  Las Tecnópolis aparecen, en la actualidad, como nuevos espacios industriales –tanto por su emplazamiento como por el uso de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación– en todos los niveles que son globalmente interdependientes –tanto por los productos resultado de su producción como por el mercado que comparten. Estas Tecnópolis han reestructurado y están reestructurando –física y arquitectónicamente- (Chien-Yuan, 1996) las dimensiones urbanas, regionales y ciudadanas de las diferentes partes de nuestras realidades urbanas, en el contexto de la sociedad de la información y del conocimiento. Es así como algunas ciudades se están convirtiendo en las principales agentes, decisivas para desarrollar la economía global que actualmente sufrimos, compitiendo entre ellas en una carrera de innovación tecnológica e iniciativas empresariales. Dicho de otra manera, los espacios actúan no sólo como el trasfondo en el que ponemos en marcha nuestras relaciones sociales, sino también como el sitio en el que quedan y se van acumulando las historias particulares de cada uno y a la vez de la historia social de una población. Gracias a este conjunto de conexiones e intersecciones sabemos, ahora si, que la ciudad contemporánea está imbricada (más que en cualquier otro momento) con la tecnología. La tecnología invade y mediatiza los aspectos arquitectónicos, económicos, comunicativos y políticos de las ciudades.Los “no lugares” vienen a modificar dicha estabilidad, potencian la realización de muchas actividades simultáneas (mezcla de producción, de ocio o de consumo), multitud de ocupaciones que se pueden hacer al mismo tiempo que nos movemos, paseamos o viajamos, gracias a la posibilidad que nos ofrecen las nuevas tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación.

Este certamen servirá como preludio a los actos que Regüelta, Conceju y Abora organizan en Puente San Miguel el 28 de Julio, Día Nacional de Cantabria, donde el jurado dará a conocer la instantánea ganadora.

Para participar sólo hay que enviar las fotografías a otrasrialidaes@yahoo.ca

Bases del certamen:

 PARTICIPANTES:

 Pueden participar todos los fotógrafos aficionados que lo deseen.

 TEMA:

 Podrá ser objeto de este certamen cualquier instantánea que capture una realidad olvidada o ninguneada por las instituciones cántabras y los mass-media: precariedad, marginación, deterioro ambiental, maltrato, destrucción de la cultura y el patrimonio cántabro...

 Se valorará la calidad técnica, pero sobre todo su valor expresivo y el contenido de denuncia.

OBRAS, PRESENTACIÓN E IDENTIFICACIÓN:

Cada concursante podrá presentar hasta un máximo de tres fotografías, que podrán ser tituladas de forma pública.

Las fotografías se enviarán por correo a otrasrialidaes@yahoo.ca , con una fecha límite de aceptación en el día 18 de Julio de 2008. En el correo se facilitará el nombre y apellidos –que el jurado desconocerá-, así como un teléfono de contacto.

JURADO:

Estará compuesto por un periodista de un medio cántabro de “contrainformación”, el prestigioso fotógrafo Ansola, y un militante de la izquierda cántabra.

El fallo del jurado se hará público el Día Nacional de Cantabria: 28 de Julio (festivo) en Puente San Miguel / Bárcena la Puenti, a las 16 h.

EXPOSICIÓN:

Las fotografías finalistas serán expuestas en paneles los días 27 y 28 de Julio en Puente San Miguel, dentro de las diversas actividades que la izquierda cántabra organiza esos días con motivo del Día Nacional de Cantabria.

INTENCIONALIDAD DEL CERTAMEN:

- La organización se reserva el derecho de editar las fotografías presentadas, siempre sin ánimo de lucro.
