<title><![CDATA[Orhan Pamuk, arquitecto de las palabras]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Descubrí al escritor turco <a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orhan_Pamuk" target="_blank">Orhan Pamuk</a>, ganador del Nobel de literatura en 2006, poco después de que ganara el mencionado premio, gracias a su obra <a href="http://www.letraslibres.com/index.php?art=11708" target="_blank">"Estambul: ciudad y recuerdos"</a>. Esta mezcla de memorias de infancia y juventud, historia de la ciudad y recopilación de visiones que se han tenido de la misma me cautivó y emocionó desde la primera hasta la última página.</p>
<p>Después de esta, el pasado diciembre me sumergí en la lectura de <a href="http://wineruda.blogsome.com/2006/10/01/me-llamo-rojo-de-orhan-pamuk/" target="_blank">"Me llamo Rojo"</a>, una de las novelas más redondas, originales y fascinantes que he leído nunca. Un asesinato, cuatro sospechosos y un hombre que debe resolver el caso a modo de acertijo, en un contexto de ilustradores del Sultán durante el Imperio Turco, en el Estambul del siglo XVI. A partir de aquí se teje una novela cuya mayor baza está en el cambio de narrador, y por tanto de punto de vista, en cada capítulo, en el juego al que esto introduce al lector, convirtiéndolo en testigo externo de todo lo narrado, dándole pistas y retándolo (especialmente cuando el narrador es "El asesino"). Sin dejar de mencionar el cromatismo de los pasajes, donde el color es un protagonista más, que hacen aún más bello el libro.</p>
<p>Hace pocos días que acabé de leer <a href="http://wineruda.blogsome.com/2005/11/16/el-libro-negro-de-orhan-pamukkara-kitap-1990editorial-punto-de-lecturaano-2005paginas-644traductor-rafael-carpinteroel-libro-negro-de-orhan-pamuk/" target="_blank">"El libro negro"</a>, y aunque no me haya apasionado tanto como "Me llamo Rojo", no deja de ser toda una demostración de saber hacer literario y que, a pesar de ser confuso en algunos pasajes, no ha dejado de interesarme en ningún momento. Un joven abogado recorre todos los rincones de Estambul en busca de su esposa, que ha desaparecido dejándole una nota de diecinueve palabras, coincidiendo con la desaparición de un famoso columnista al que sigue desde siempre, familiar de su esposa. Esta búsqueda se convierte en una búsqueda de sí mismo, de su identidad, construyendo con ello una reflexión sobre la misma, formulando la pregunta de "¿Podemos llegar a ser nosotros mismos?" en todo momento. Pamuk vuelve a jugar con los lectores, alternando, capítulo a capítulo, la narración en tercera persona de la búsqueda de nuestro protagonista y diversos artículos del columnista (algunos de ellos realmente bellísimos) donde se habla de todo tipo de cosas de la vida, que constituyen a su vez pistas en la resolución del misterio que envuelve toda la novela.</p>
<p>Orhan Pamuk no es un autor fácil de leer, a excepción del primer libro citado, que quizás sea el más fácil de seguir entre los tres. No es uno de esos escritores que recomendaría a todo el mundo, porque estoy segura que a más de uno le aburrirá soberanamente. Pero no sé qué tiene que a mí me tiene completamente encandilada, considerándolo uno de mis escritores favoritos. Quizás sea por su gusto por experimentar en formas de narración, jugar con el lector, ir más allá del argumento de sus novelas, que usa como mera excusa para desplegar todo su potencial literario a su libre albedrío. O por ese amor incondicional que profesa hacia su ciudad, Estambul, y que nos contagia al resto de los mortales en forma de deseo de visitarla. Hay miles de aspectos de su literatura a comentar (como por ejemplo el reflejo que en ella de la "lucha" de su país por encontrar su identidad actual, a caballo entre oriente y occidente, por alcanzar la modernidad sin olvidar sus raíces), pero quizás tengan cabida en futuros escritos sobre otras novelas del autor, como <a href="http://www.letraslibres.com/index.php?art=11372" target="_blank">"Nieve"</a> o <a href="http://lengua.laguia2000.com/libros/el-castillo-blanco-de-orhan-pamuk" target="_blank">"El castillo blanco"</a>, que no tardaré mucho en leer.</p>
<p>Os dejo con una <a href="http://www.elpais.com/articulo/reportajes/melancolia/fuente/entusiasmo/elpepusocdmg/20061224elpdmgrep_13/Tes" target="_blank">entrevista</a> que concedió a El país en ocasión de su Premio Nobel, que nos introduce en su fascinante personalidad, por si tenéis curiosidad por el autor; y dos frases del libro que me han gustado:</p>
<p><em>"Leer es mirar el espejo, los que conocen el "secreto" que hay detrás, pasan al otro lado y los que ingnoran el secreto de las letras no encuentran en este mundo nada más que sus insulsas caras."</em></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">Ainda sobre o Euro 2008, e de como o nacionalismo no pior sentido da palavra surge, e está a ser explorado, embora seja também denunciado. Orhan pamuk, prémio Nobel da literatura citado a partir de um blog da  <a href="http://colunas.globoesporte.com/conexaogontijo/2008/06/17/um-premio-nobel-de-literatura-e-o-futebol/">globo:</a></p>
<p><em>O  Prêmio Nobel de Literatura em 2006, Orhan Pamuk, diz que o futebol na  Turquia  serve para alimentar os pensamentos nacionalistas e  xenófobos , mas ele afirma que mesmo assim está torcendo  pelo país no Euro 2008.  Em uma entrevista ao semanário alemão Der Spiegel, ele contesta bastante a maneira com que a imprensa turca encara o futebol. A cobertura do jogo contra a Suíça em 2005 é o seu exemplo favorito. Os seus conterrâneos  encaram a derrota em um jogo que acabou com um batalha campal como fruto de péssima arbitragem e de uma conspiração, uma leitura dos fatos que  o incomodou bastante. Pamuk venera as transmissões radiofônicas, porque foram elas que nos trouxeram o futebol.</em></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Durante o campeonato, manifestaram-se os polacos com a sua habitual "técnica" intimidatória, vinda do ultra conservador partido católico, chamado precisamente Partido conservador, à propósito de Lukas Podolski e Miroslav Klose, jogadores que jogam pela Alemanha, mas são polacos de nascimento.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Não só foram "excomungados" ?!?! como se exigiu que se "tomasse medidas".</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">O mais engraçado é que a Polónia jogou durante o campeonato com um jogador brasileiro naturalizado somente há dois anos. Podolski e Klose vivem na Alemanha há mais de 20 anos. Noticia <a href="http://www.record.pt/noticia.asp?id=790531&#38;idCanal=1252">Record.</a></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Já o nacionalismo português é, de <img class="size-medium wp-image-838 alignleft" src="http://dissidentex.wordpress.com/files/2008/07/socrates-em-viseu1.jpg?w=300" alt="" width="376" height="245" />algum modo, diferente. Não é um nacionalismo agressivo como os anteriores - por enquanto - antes é um nacionalismo que pretende fazer de nós - os nacionais de origem do próprio, de parvos.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">É um nacionalismo bacoco, misturado com aproveitamento político de situações que se manifesta da seguinte maneira:</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Casualmente, inteiramente por coincidência, acaso, destino cósmico, até tínhamos pensado ir até Viseu. Por estranha coincidência e absoluto acaso, até íamos tratar de um assunto particular que não dizia nada a ninguém.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">E então juntamos o útil ao agradável e damos um saltinho - que ninguém vê - <a href="http://www.correiomanha.pt/noticia.aspx?channelid=00000021-0000-0000-0000-000000000021&#38;contentid=922F3E72-2599-4A1B-A64E-A16C079A1CD0">ali ao lado até Viseu e cumprimentamos os rapazes.</a></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">A titulo particular, cumprimentamos publicamente e de forma pública mas privada ao mesmo tempo, os rapazes às 4 da tarde. Nacionalismo pseudo demonstrado de forma discreta, misturado com oportunismo político e uma atitude de "picar o ponto".</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Isto para consumo interno.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><img class="size-medium wp-image-811 alignleft" src="http://dissidentex.wordpress.com/files/2008/06/socrates-merkel.jpg?w=300" alt="" width="406" height="267" /><strong>Para consumo externo </strong>o nacionalismo português manifesta-se através de demonstrações de vaidade e peneiras, totalmente deslocadas de qualquer sentido de lógica ou bom senso.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Vai-se para um encontro europeu para discutir quais serão as novas cedências de Portugal, e uma vez aí chegados, proclama-se acreditar na vitória de Portugal contra a Alemanha nos quartos de final do europeu, e até se diz isso à Chanceler alemã (<em>mensagem subliminar: estão a ver como nós somos fortes e até na cara dos alemães lhes dizemos que vamos ganhar? ).</em></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Extraordinário este <strong>nacionalismo de veludo e persuasão.</strong> Nada do barbarismo dos turcos, vendo conspirações em todo o lado após derrotas, ou dos barbáros nacionalistas católicos polacos a escreverem em blogs contra jogadores alemães nascidos na Polónia ou - suprema heresia  - tipos com brincos que são seleccionadores nacionais e tocam rock nacionalista.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Não.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">O nacionalismo português é que é, verdadeiramente, um "caso-de-estudo" e uma originalidade. São viagens nacionalistas/oportunistas políticas a "titulo particular". Louça fina é outra coisa.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Só é pena este nacionalismo de veludo e persuasão não ter aproveitado já que ia até à Alemanha a titulo de trabalho, (ou seria a titulo particular ?) e ter dito à Chanceler para ela travar a deslocalização da Siemens. Mas enfim, como estamos perante um caso de nacionalismo persuasivo-peneirento, as coisas são o que são.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Os sintomas estão ai, e o futebol é o veículo - é um dos veículos para os disseminar ainda mais. Como não se pode acabar com o futebol, (nem é desejável...) o problema irá manter-se sempre em estado latente.</p>

<p><span class="manset_detay">İstanbul 14. Ağır Ceza Mahkemesindeki duruşmaya, sanıklardan Ogün Samast, Erhan Tuncel, Yasin Hayal, Zeynel Abidin Yavuz, Ersin Yolcu, Ahmet İskender, Mustafa Öztürk, Tuncay Uzundal, Coşkun İğci, Erbil Susaman, Veysel Toprak ve Salih Hacı Salihoğlu katıldı.</p>
<p>Duruşmada, mahkeme başkanı, duruşmanın sesli ve görüntülü olarak kayıt edildiğini hatırlattı.</p>
<p>Heyet Başkanı daha sonra sanıklardan Ogün Samast'ın 28 Haziran 2008'de 18 yaşını doldurmasından dolayı yargılamanın açık yapılıp yapılmamasına ilişkin iddia makamının görüşünü sordu.</p>
<p>Cumhuriyet savcısı, duruşmanın açık yapılması yönünde görüş bildirdi.</p>
<p>Mahkeme, Samast'ın 18 yaşını doldurduğunu göz önüne alarak, duruşmaya açık olarak devam edilmesine karar verdi. Bu kararın ardından basın mensupları ve izleyiciler salona alındı.</p>
<p>Söz alan sanık Ogün Samast'ın avukatı Levent Yıldırım, duruşmanın kapalı yapılması yönündeki talebini iletti. Mahkeme heyeti, avukat Yıldırım'ın talebini reddetti.</p>
<p>Duruşma, tutuksuz sanıklardan Coşkun İğci'nin ifadesinin alınmasıyla ve açık devam ediyor. </span></p>

<title><![CDATA[The World's Top Public Intellectuals Are...]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[Foreign Policy and Prospect magazine held voting for the top 100 public intellectuals earlier this y]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Foreign Policy and Prospect magazine held voting for the top 100 public intellectuals earlier this year. The results are available now. They are surprising at first, and then not. The top 10 were all Muslims, a result that arose from bald politicking and religious and national identification among the voters.  Although this might invalidate the results for some, they are still important for two reasons:</p>
<p>1) It shows a genuine desire and effort by the Muslim intellectual class to bring their public debates into the global consciousness. The brightest people residing in Islamic states do not want to be isolated and misunderstood.</p>
<p>2) This is a valuable education for people in the West (and around the world). To be honest, I had only ever heard of four of the men (and they're all men) in the top ten. And among those, I had only a passing familiarity with three of them.</p>
<p>Perhaps I am horribly uninformed, or perhaps not. I will confess that my five votes were biased towards the West (they're either American or English), though there were many more that I wished I could have voted for. In any case, I chose:</p>
<p>Craig Venter<br />
David Petreaus<br />
Tony Judt<br />
Lee Smolin<br />
Richard Dawkins</p>
<p>The results are also interesting because you know the people on the list care about where they rank. Salman Rushdie beat Christopher Hitchens (Amis wasn't even on the list). Poor Ian Buruma finished dead last. Thomas Friedman was in the middle of the pack. And still other names shouldn't have been there at all (I'll leave you to judge who).</p>

<title><![CDATA[Somebody Stop Me...Please]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em>On Vogue's accessories closet, fashion faux pas, another closed indie bookstore, crazier addictions and even crazier promises to stop, and a great pile of books</em>:</p>
<p><img class="alignright" style="float:right;margin:5px;" src="http://images.barnesandnoble.com/images/25420000/25427745.JPG" alt="" width="120" height="203" />There's a scene in an episode of "Sex in the City" where Carrie Bradshaw is given access to Vogue's accessories closet.  Held in a room the size of a normal person's living room are accessories on loan from every high fashion designer in the industry; some of the items most people never get to see unless they have a bank account of like a gajillion dollars. When faced with this holy of grail of fashion, Carrie stutters, "It's just -- It's just too <em>good</em>!"</p>
<p>Now, I've never been that big on fashion myself.  In fact - well, let me not get to started on my many and notorious fashion faux pas.  I don't know fashion.  What I do know is exactly how Carrie felt because it's how I felt when I walked into Olsson's Books &#38; Records yesterday afternoon.  Everything, I mean <em>everything </em>in the bookstore was marked 50% to 75% off.  It was just - it was just too <em>good</em>!</p>
<p>Now the reason for this incredible occasion was not exactly a happy one: yet another independent bookstore was closing its doors.  This particular closing had less to do with poor book sales and more to do with the fact that their lease expired and their landlord "decided to go in a different direction."  The bookstore is in the middle of popular and trendy part of town so I have no doubt that the landlord has decided to boot out the bookstore for something a little more highbrow - like, for instance, yet another trendy restaurant for all those people who like expensive eating before they head across the street to the movie theater.  Whatever.</p>
<p>Thankfully, it's an independent chain of bookstores so there are other locations in and around the city for those of us who like read as much as we like to eat (in my case, maybe more).  So, it was with no small amount of glee that I walked over to the store on my lunch break...</p>
<p>and came out with 13 books an hour and half later.</p>
<p><img class="alignright" style="float:right;margin:5px;" src="http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/imageDB.cgi?isbn=9780061375385" alt="" width="120" height="203" />Somebody should stop me, because obviously this chick can't control herself.  <em>Thirteen </em>books?  I should feel bad.  I really, really, <em>really </em>should feel bad.  And I do... mostly.  I feel so bad that I'm banning myself from the bookstore for the rest of the summer.  Really.</p>
<p>I know what you're thinking.  You're thinking, yeah right; you don't have the guts, the gumption, the willpower, or the self-preservation.  You're probably right on all four counts, but I am dead determined this time.  No joking around; no 'oh, I'll just stop in for a second to look around.'  Nope, none of that.  This time I'll be avoiding bookstores like the plague.  Besides, will it really be such a hardship when I just bought about every most-coveted book on my TBR list?</p>
<p>These should keep me busy for a very long time (I pray, oh let it be so):</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Am rezolvat politica şi fotbalul, caltaboşii i-am mâncat, aşa că ar fi cazul să ne întoarcem la chestii mai lumeşti. Care? Habar nu am. Mă enervasem nevoie mare pe două edituri. În urmă cu vreo zece zile am comandat pe net nişte cărţi, <a href="http://www.niculescu.ro/" target="_blank">Vânătorii de zmeie de Khaled Hosseini </a>şi două volume de <a href="http://www.curteaveche.ro/" target="_blank">Orhan Pamuk - Mă numesc Roşu şi Zăpada.</a> Cum am rezolvat cu politica şi fotbalul, mi-am adus aminte că am comandat degeaba cărţile, deoarece nu au sosit. Aşa că m-am apucat să scriu un email cu declaraţii, normal că nu de dragoste, către cele două edituri şi chiar o postare pentru blog. Pe când să-mi închei declaraţiile, noroc că mă trezeşte la realitate Sătmăreanul. Tu mai verifici poşta din când în când?, mă întreabă. Pe când înjuram mai bine, aflu că, de fapt, cărţile mele aşteaptă de vreo două zile să le ridic, dar mai trebuie verificată şi poşta. Chestie nouă. Nu ştiam de ea :D Nu vă povestesc că m-am enervat la poştă, deoarece este firesc să te ia toţi dracii când ajungi acolo. În fine, ideea e că mi-au sosit cărţile, iar eu nu am mai avut unde să-mi vărs răbufnirile ...</p>

Z czym kojarzy  się nam Turcja? Ile wiemy o tym kraju? Turcja dla nas to zdjęcia z folderu wakacy]]></description>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Z czym kojarzy <span> </span>się nam Turcja? Ile wiemy o tym kraju? Turcja dla nas to zdjęcia z folderu wakacyjnego, problem imigrantów w Niemczech lub turecki sweterek Kononowicza ;). Orhan Pamuk odkrywa przed nami inną, nieznaną Turcję taką jaką widzą ją jej mieszkańcy, a nie ludzie zachodu jak określani są Europejczycy.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Tureckie miasteczko Kars poznajemy oczami poety Ka. Ka po wielu latach imigracji w Niemczech wrócił do Turcji na pogrzeb swojej matki. Wkrótce potem postanowił wyruszyć do Karsu, gdzie miał relacjonować dla jednej ze stambulskich gazet wybory na burmistrza i zbadać ostatnią plagę samobójstw. Jednak nie to było najważniejszym celem Ka w Karsie. Ka ponad wszystko pragną spotkać Ipek, którą kochał ponad życie. Wkrótce Ka wmiesza się w wiele politycznych intryg, a zasypane przez śnieg drogi sprawią, że Kars stanie się więzieniem <span> </span>bez możliwości odwrotu.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Geograficznie Turcja „rozdarta” jest między Europą, a Azją.. W „Śniegu” Pamuka również Turcy pozostają rozdarci pomiędzy Europą, laicyzmem i wartościami jakie reprezentuje republika, a tradycją, Islamem i Bliskim Wschodem. To powoduje wewnątrz kraju wiele napięć i konfliktów. Orhan Pamuk szczegółowo i zarazem barwnie opisują Turcję i Turków. Ukazuje nam kraj jakiego dotąd nie znaliśmy. Z jednej strony piękny i ciekawy, z drugiej niebezpieczny i ocierający się o totalitaryzm. „Śnieg” to nie tylko barwne opisy karskiej codzienności, życia jakie wiodą mieszkańcy. To także wartka akcja, polityczne intrygi, zabójstwa i przewroty. Jednak czy na pewno i to ostatnie nie jest turecką codziennością? Rozpolitykowani Turcy co rusz wydają polityczne oświadczenia, zbierają się w organizacje czy dokonują aktów terroru lub przewrotów politycznych. To wszystko sprawia, że dzieło Pamuka jest wielobarwne, ciekawe i czyta się następne rozdziały z ogromną ciekawością. Wizje swojej ojczyzny autor nakreślił z dużym rozmachem, do tego ciekawie i intrygująco. Jednocześnie bohater książki nie stara się oceniać nie staje po stronie zlaicyzowanej republiki czy konserwatywnych islamistów. Ka jako imigrant z Niemiec nie czuje się stroną w tym konflikcie. Jedyne co chce to być szczęśliwy razem z Ipek. Mieszkańcy Karsu nie dostrzegają tego. Islamiści dostrzegają w nim niebezpiecznego „człowieka zachodu”, szpiega. Również wojsko traktuje Ka z podejrzliwością, źle odbierają jego kontakty z uczniami szkoły koranicznej. Wydaje się, że w Turcji nie można być neutralnym. Ka popełnił błąd nie opowiadając się jednoznacznie po którejś ze stron. Polityka wciągnęła go bez jego woli niczym wir i pociągnęła na samo dno.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">„Śnieg” w pełni zasłużył na nobla i uznanie na całym świecie. Powieść jest napisana ciekawym językiem, wielobarwnie i na pewno nie znudzi czytelnika. Nie tylko dostarcza wiedzy o Turcji i jej mieszkańcach, ale także zwykłej rozrywki. Uważam, że jest to jedna z najlepszych powieści ostatnich lat. Od jakiegoś czasu decyzje podejmowane przez sztokholmską kapitułę uważane, są za akt polityczny, a nie za uznanie najlepszej powieści. W przypadku „Śniegu” moim zdaniem jest to jak najbardziej słuszna decyzja. Nobel trafił po prostu w ręce autora genialnej książki i mam nadzieję, że następni laureaci tej prestiżowej nagrody będą na takim samym poziomie co Pamuk ze swoim „Śniegiem”.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I feel compelled to add <em>or so I've been told.  </em>In Turkish we have a special tense that allows us to distinguish hearsay from what we've seen with our own eyes; when we are relating dreams, fairy tales, or past events we could not have witnessed, we use this tense.  It is a useful distinction to make as we "remember" our earliest life experiences, our cradles, our baby carriages, our first steps, all as reported by our parents, stories to which we listen with the same rapt attention we might pay some brilliant tale of some other person.  It's a sensation as sweet as seeing ourselves in our dreams, but we pay a heavy price for it.  Once imprinted in our minds, other people's reports of what we've done end up mattering more than what we ourselves remember.  And just as we learn about our lives from others, so too do we let others shape our understanding of the city in which we live.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em><strong>”…</strong>det viktiga bestod inte i att ’skapa’ något nytt, utan att göra förändringar i de kolosser som redan skapats av tusentals intellektuella genom tusentals år, och därmed lyckas formulera något alldeles nytt”</em> skrev nobelpristagaren Orhan Pamuk redan för många år sedan. Faktum är att Den svarta boken, varifrån jag hämtat citatet, liksom Pamuks övriga litteratur, präglas av en stilla obsession med detta tema. Att låna, skriva om, lägga ut ledtrådar, manipulera och givetvis förföra läsarna, fansen, konsumenterna, lyssnarna.</p>
<p><strong>S</strong>jälv avskyr jag de ingrodda och gärna gubbiga diskussionerna om covers, det vill säga legala musikaliska plagiat, som förs med jämna mellanrum i både mainstream- och alternativ media. Det är ett evigt rabblande om årtal, baksidespår och preferenser, journalister och andra tyckare slår verbala piruetter för att visa hur oerhört insatta just de råkar vara. Sällan får man däremot läsa om lusten att låna.</p>
<p><strong>D</strong>et är nämligen roligt att plagiera, det vet alla som provat. Det är tillfredsställande att ha ett original att mäta sig mot, en spegelbild att överträffa eller förvränga till oigenkännlighet. Det är lugnande att överhuvudtaget ha en utgångspunkt i konstnärligt arbete, det vet alla som släpar på privata svarta hål och andra nebulosor i innerfickan.</p>
<p><strong>S</strong>ist men inte minst är skänker plagiatet ett verk en massa nya dimensioner, som bara kan uppstå just i jämförelsen. Vi kan njuta av en låt eller konstverk i sig. Men det är dess relation till något föregående som skänker härmningen dess verkliga genialitet.</p>
<p><strong>H</strong>östen 2007 såg jag ett framträdande av Natacha Atlas här i Berlin. Inför en entusiastisk men lite för väluppfostrad medelklasspublik åmade och kråmade sig denna så kallade world music scenens mikroba gigant, i det verkliga livet mäter artisten under 160 centimeter. Det var kitschigt på gränsen till löjeväckande och ganska medryckande. Men så tog Atlas ton och de första, darrande, tonerna till hennes version av "It's a man's world" stänkte som skälvande vattendroppar över publiken, som börjats svetta av uppvisningen. Jag reste omedelbart ragg och gåshuden gjorde nästan ont. Det är fläskigt, det är oktavhöjningar och Natacha Atlas röst som glider oroväckande mellan skalorna och vibratot som en iskall förebråelse i refrängen: "it's a man's, man's, man's world - but it wouldn't be nothing without a woman or  a girl...". James Browns låt har givetvis ett egenvärde, men musikhistorien skulle vara betydligt fattigare utan Natachas arabeska plagiat.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.orhanpamuk.net/" target="_blank">Orhan Pamuk, laureatul Premiului Nobel pentru Literatură </a>în 2006 a fost prezent la standul <a href="http://www.curteaveche.ro/" target="_blank">Editurii Curtea Veche </a>pentru o nouă sesiune de autografe, cu ocazia lansării celui mai nou titlu al său. Singurul şi, după cum a declarat autorul, ultimul său roman politic, <em>Zăpada</em> înfăţişează dilemele critice ale Turciei moderne: cât de europeană este această ţară, cum poate ea să răspundă la fundamentalismul islamic şi cum poate aborda un scriitor aceste aspecte?<br />
<a href="http://www.orhanpamuk.net/" target="_blank">Orhan Pamuk </a>este cel mai cunoscut şi, totodata, unul dintre cei mai controversaţi scriitori turci contemporani. A visat să devină pictor, apoi a studiat arhi<span style="text-decoration:underline;">t</span>ectura pentru o vreme şi a absolvit jurnalismul la Universitatea din Istanbul. La vârsta de 23 de ani, hotărât să se dedice literaturii, a abandonat orice altă ambiţie, s-a retras în apartamentul său din Istanbul şi a început să scrie. De atunci, Pamuk s-a situat pe traiectoria sigură către Premiul Nobel pentru Literatură, pe care l-a câştigat în octombrie 2006, după ce a obţinut numeroase alte premii prestigioase.</p>

Nitekim Spiegel'e <a href="http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/0,1518,557614,00.html" target="_blank">röportaj</a> veren Orhan Pamuk'un cımbızlanan "Teknik direktör Fatih Terim bir ultra milliyetçi olsa da Avrupa Şampiyonası'nda Türk takımını destekleyeceğim elbette." sözleri de transfer dedikoduları arasında farklı bir renk oldu. Tabi her zamanki gibi Fatih Terim de <a href="http://www.hurriyet.com.tr/spor/futbol/9083034.asp?gid=229&#38;sz=70361" target="_blank">cevap</a> vermekte gecikmedi. Bu atışmadaki taraflarıyla ilgili Reşat Çalışlar'ın <a href="http://rcalislar.blogspot.com/2008/06/orhan-pamuk-fatih-terim-polemii.html" target="_blank">değerlendirmesi</a> faydalı olabilir.</p>
<p>İkisinin milliyetçilik seviyelerinden bahsetmeyeceğim. Orhan Pamuk'un futbol hakkında konuşacak gerçek birşeylerinin olması iyi haber. Ama bunların her zamanki klişelerinin dışına çıkmamış olması ve alışıldık "yabancı" jargonu içerisinde kalması ise kötü haber.</p>
