Equipo -> Red : ninguna

Equipo -> Firefox

¡Bingo! Ya tengo internet.
Y otro escollo superado.

I can't help but go back to the analogy I had of moving one of those electric car seats...once you start mucking around, nothing feels right.

I was pretty happy w/ my custom green creation, until I noticed something just now and it bugged me to no end until I figured it out.

Take a look at the following image of the "Computer" menu button with the "Inverted" theme applied to "Controls":

Now take a look with the "Gilouche" (openSUSE Default) theme applied to "Controls":

Do you see the difference (besides the slight difference in hue)?

Even though the Icon theme has not changed, the actual "Computer Icon" is not fully visible with the non-default theme selected. After I noticed this, I went through all of the other default installed themes, and the only theme which properly displays the "Computer" icon for the Main Menu is Gilouche.

I'm probably the only person in the world that would notice this, but I couldn't stand it once I did - it just wasn't right :-) Had to switch to Gilouche and forgo my green. Also, just to note, when Gilouche is selected the "pressed" appearance of the menu is quite nice as well w/ the "3D" blue overlay.

One of the things that has most impressed me about openSUSE is the ability to add additional YaST re

One of the things that has most impressed me about openSUSE is the ability to add additional YaST repositories from the openSUSE Build Service.

These repositories allow you to keep various parts of your system up-to-date with the latest versions, without disturbing your underlying base operating system. It is possible however, to get carried away with adding repositories, and in previous version of openSUSE could make for a nightmare with all the repositories enabled waiting for them to refresh. This situation, however has been rectified with the improved package-management in openSUSE 11.0.

I'm going to highlight here the repositories I have added to my system, and my reasoning behind them. You may have other needs, and may need repositories I have not added, and may not need some I do have added.

First, you need to know what repositories you can add. There are a couple of places you can look for these repository addresses, one such place is the Additional YaST Repositories page on opensuse.org. You can also find a more comprehensive list here, however you'll need to be a little more selective about what you add from the latter list.

Another way to get a nice list of common community repositories is to go into YaST, and click on "Software Repositories". In the resulting window you can click on "Add", and then select the "Community Repositories" radio button. That's all there is too it!

In addition to the standard OSS, Non-OSS and Debug repositories, I have added the following repositories to my running system:

openSUSE Education (for Bluefish, some other neat stuff in there as well)

GNOME:Stable (to keep up w/ the lastest stable GNOME build)

OpenOFfice.org:Stable (keeps the latest build of OOo installed)

Mozilla (gotta have the latest and greatest Firefox!)

Wine CVS Builds (gotta have my Counter-Strike fix every now and again)

ATI (Need 3D acceloration for above mentioned Counter-Strike)

Packman (Extra codecs and stuff)

Mono:Community (I like keeping Mono and it's devel. packages up-to-date)

VideoLan (I think VLC is the best video player out there - I'm running the latest beta now)

GNOME:Community (Great little additions to GNOME - community supported, of course)

On my Laptop, I also have the MadWifi repo added as I have an Atheros wireless chipset there. Obviously, if you have an Nvidia graphics chip rather than an ATI, you'll want to add the Nvidia repository as well. Also, if you are a KDE 4 user, I highly reccomend the "Unstable" KDE 4 repo, as I've heard from KDE users that the Unstable builds are steadily getting more and more stable than "Stable" as the code improves. This will be your only way to KDE 4.1 as well.

In a way, these repositories make openSUSE a little more like a "rolling-release" distro, yet more stable (as long as you stick to the STABLE repositories - with exception KDE 4 IMHO).

Just always remember not to get "package-happy" and install a bunch of stuff you'll never use, and pay attention to updates as they come in. If you get a bunch of dependency errors, never force the issue - just hold off on the upgrade until the issues resolve themselves (which they will in time).

Man, it's been 7 months since I wrote on this blog. Well, not really. I had a few posts that were started but never got completed. Did I mention how lazy I can be sometimes?

Anyway, let's get back to the point of the post. As we all (or should all) know, AMD purchased ATi sometime back. On the linux front, thanks to an agreement with novell, ati has been steadily releasing documentation to opensource devs containing specifications for ati cards. A wise man once said, why continue with your shoddy coding when you can get people to support your crap for free?

Radeonhd, which is the brainchild of this whole documentation releasement, is coming along quite nicely. Owners of the x1000 and newer ati cards running linux can now rejoice and download the driver from their nearest distro repository. You can check out the website here.

Now, what about the tried and true radeon driver? The driver that has been chugging along since time immemorial? Since before such things as manufacturer provided documentation existed? How does it compare to the proprietary driver nowadays? It is slowly incorporating some stuff gleaned from ati's documentation.

I haven't had the luxury to test out the radeonhd driver since I happen to own a laptop containing the x700 mobility radeon. As any linux user with an ati card knows, the past few years have brought nothing but disappointments with each new fglrx release. Yes, ati was pulling itself together. Yes, the fglrx driver was able to achieve decent frames per second. However, each new release fixed one or two things and broke 5 more. The important bugs, such as, oh I don't know, problems with compiz/beryl, corruptions on certain cards, incompatibility with 3D rendering, etc, took several releases cycles before they got fixed, if they ever got fixed. Some people are still using drivers released over a year ago because everything after that breaks their system terribly. Check out the forums at phoronix for discussions/complaints on each new fglrx release. Such things make one wonder if the ati linux dev team is really just one person. I mean, if a group of people are getting paid to improve the linux driver, only major incompetence would explain how little gets done every month.

I admit it, I got pretty frustrated with fglrx for the reasons listed above. I couldn't play videos with some driver releases, compiz would slow to a crawl with others. Several just never compiled because ati was often very late on supporting newer kernels and patches weren't always available. Seriously, the kernel major release cycles takes months. That's plenty of time to add support. If you still don't support a major release kernel 3 months after it was released, WTH?

While doing beta testing for opensuse 11.0 + kde 4.0, I had removed the fglrx driver sometime before and never bothered to reinstall it. I spent three or so months using a video driver that just worked. Glxgears was returning ~2800 FPS. I didn't play many games during that time, but the ones I played worked perfectly. Compiz was disabled, as I wanted to get more acquainted with kde 4's desktop effects. When I finally installed the opensuse 11.0 GM, I decided it was time to install fglrx for compizness.

The install went smoothly, with zero xorg.conf tweaking on my part, thanks to opensuse 11.0 enabling AIGLX whenever fglrx is installed. I just added the ati community repo in yast and off I went. The most configuration I had to do was run sax which I did more out of habit than anything else.

With the smooth install, I foresaw sunny skies ahead. The laptop ran well for most of the first day after the new install, but the X server froze later in the evening. I assumed this was a minor glitch on the somewhat buggy .0 release. I restarted and all was well with the world. Until the next day that is. X froze multiple times in a row. Since I had been running factory up until the previous day without any glitches, I figured I may need to update the default kde 4 to factory. I did. Sunny skies returned. For one more day at least. Every day after that, I had to update kde 4, otherwise my X would freeze. Strange isn't it? On the days when kde 4 factory didn't get an update, I experienced random freezes, which occured every few minutes until I updated kde 4. Oh yeah, all 3D stuff had terrible flickering. After a couple kde 4 upgrades, games like tremulous, glest, planeshift and sauerbraten which had been just barely tolerable initially, became completely unplayable.

I started pondering what else was different between my beta system and my current system. Well, I certainly wasn't updating my system to factory (been there, done that when I needed to, got the tshirt). The only other difference was the video driver. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what driver I had been using on the beta install. The opensource radeon driver has given me a black screen ever since opensuse 10.3. I tried it anyway, with the same result. The radeonhd driver didn't support my card. I tried it anyway, but no luck either. I then tried vesa.... yes, vesa. No surprise, the rendering was slow as molasses.

I even tried installing fglrx, but without configuring it with sax, and on a kernel that it couldn't compile on. That gave me some pretty interesting results. 2D stuff worked fine, but 3D and compiz died a horrible death. Xorg logs showed parts of the fglrx driver were used for certain things, but glxinfo showed SGI as the glx vendor. Hmm.

So what the hell had I been using during those months of zero hassle? I stumbled on the answer by mistake. While futzing around with dependencies for fglrx in yast, I accidentally enabled both ati-fglrxG01-kmp-default as well as x11-video-fglrxG01 for removal. I also blocked the other fglrx related drivers, which naturally kept wanting to install. Surprise surprise, my laptop booted fine. Glxinfo gave me about 2600 FPS and damn, 3D games looked great. When I checked my xorg.conf, lo and behold, I was using the radeon driver. Just to be sure I was seeing things right, I installed x11-video-fglrxG01. The next X start gave me a black screen.

It's been a longish post. Good thing I'm winding down. The point of this post was simply to put it out there that the radeon driver is now more usable than the fglrx driver. The fglrx driver only trumps the radeon driver in FPS under glxgears (~4400 vs 2800 on my system). However, none of my 3D applications showed a drop in FPS and none of them flicker (note that on planeshift, fullscreen is required to avoid some flickering when using the radeon driver). The only problem I have encountered with the radeon driver is that if I load a game after resuming from suspend or after the laptop has been on for several hours, X is highly likely to freeze at some point. This doesn't happen after a clean boot. Oh yeah, did I mention compiz works? It does, and with no hits to speed.

Goodbye cruel fglrx world. You treated me and mine as an afterthought, so here I return the favor. I'll keep an eye on that front, but I'm done using the driver, unless a revolutionary release appears.

For those that feel they need the fglrx driver to get usable 3D or whatever, it's about time to check out the radeon driver if your card is supported. Of course, as with anything, performance is system dependent, so your mileage may vary. Just don't forget to remove everything related to fglrx before you switch to radeon, especially if using a mobility radeon card.

Attention_Map_Picture_3

[caption id="attachment_44" align="aligncenter" width="689" caption="Attention_Map_Picture_3"][/caption]

What you see above is an Attention Map (radius: 120, sigma: 40, alpha blend: 30) of the openSUSE 11.0 installer. I used an eyetracker to generate the data. Normally, we use Eprime and SPSS to analyse the data, but I think using Nyan to generate some nice pictures helps "ordinary" people to understand what we see when we take a look at the data in SPSS.
This is data that was not taken from a scientific probe. It is scientifically not possible to extract any reliable conclusion from this series of pictures. It is a simple illustration of what is possible in the field of usability research and (maybe) gives a hint of where there is room for improvement in the openSUSE installer.First let me show you what kind of information we can extract. In order to to so, I will just let you have a look at the different pictures. They are pretty much self explicable (that is the beauty about it):

Scanpath:

[caption id="attachment_46" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Scanpath_Picture_3"][/caption]

So we can actually follow the path of where the subject was looking, how long he was looking at a certain point (ROI = Region of interest) and we also know the pupil diameter. We can do so in still pictures and interactive environments. The two following pictures and the very first picture are then calculated using this data.

Iso-Attention (Filter: Black, Radius: 120, Sigma: 40, Darkening: 90, Attention Level: 50):

[caption id="attachment_45" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Iso_Attention_Picture_3"][/caption]

Sinnbuilder (Filter: Black, Radius: 120, Sigma: 40, Darkening: 95):

[caption id="attachment_47" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sinnbuilder_Picture_3"][/caption]

These are the basic pictures we can work with. Feel free to ask me questions if there are any. Now, let us have a look at the installer using it step by step. I will just post the pictures I feel to be of most relevance.

Booting the installation medium:

[caption id="attachment_48" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Scanpath_Picture_1 "][/caption]

It is interesting to see, that a subject having the task to perform an installation will look at the very first option at first, kind of skipping the second reading further down what has to do with installation and going back up again. So maybe it would be good to put the most important task up first (Installation). However, there could be effects with having the first entry highlighted and I understand the implications for the situation of rebooting. You do not want your installation media boot twice into installation mode. However, there is potential room for improvement and there should be further research in that area. The Sinnbuilder view makes clear there is not really much the subject pays attention to in the first 4 seconds:

[caption id="attachment_49" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sinnbuilder_Picture_1"][/caption]

Booting the installation system:

[caption id="attachment_50" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Iso_Attention_Picture_2"][/caption]

This is pretty clear. Attention clearly is where it should be :-)

First screen of the installation program:

[caption id="attachment_51" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Attention_Map_Picture_3"][/caption]

The main attention is on the left side. This can be expected as it appears to be an orientation reaction. This level will be lower in the process. However, maybe it is worth a try to put the sidebar on the right side (thanks for the input from Christian Hautmann). Even though this breaks the monotony rule it still might be a good idea as there are no interactive components in this sidebar. This might give the user the chance to focus more on the more important tasks on this screen.

System-Check:

[caption id="attachment_52" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Attention_Map_Picture_4"][/caption]

The design of the system check seems to be very good. The subject is able to quickly find the state of the process.

Installation Mode:

[caption id="attachment_53" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sinnbuilder_Picture_5"][/caption]

This screen also is very optimal. The user almost scans all the important parts of the screen within 4 seconds.

Setting the time zone:

[caption id="attachment_54" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Scanpath_Picture_6"][/caption]

IMO this screen has got a disastrous design. The subject looks at everything except for one of the most important things - the UTC setting. In normal use cases the hardware clock is _not_ set to UTC. So this should be a button and not a checkbox and UTC should not be default. The map also distracts the user a great deal without having any significance at all.

Choosing the Desktop Environment:

[caption id="attachment_55" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Attention_Map_Picture_7"][/caption]

Watching this picture almost causes me personal pain. The subject does literally not even see the KDE3.5 option. This screen probably has to be completely revamped.

Partitioning:

[caption id="attachment_56" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Scanpath_Picture_8"][/caption]

This looks good. However, the subject completely misses the option to choose between LVM-based and partition-based. This is due to the options being way to small in comparison to the buttons below and there is no explication between the differences of those two. This should be changed.

Partitioning - expert mode:

[caption id="attachment_57" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sinnbuilder_Picture_9"][/caption]

Well, this screen is pretty solid. I have no clue what drew the attention to the crypto button though.

User-creation:

[caption id="attachment_58" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Scanpath_Picture_10"][/caption]

This one looks good again, but do you see how the subject does not see the autologin being checked? Too many little checkbox....

Installation-settings:

[caption id="attachment_59" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="ISO_Attention_Picture_11"][/caption]

Well, I don't know what to say. I guess I need more subjects for this one. This one is just pure chaos in the scanpath.

Confirm installation:

[caption id="attachment_60" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Attention_Map_Picture_12"][/caption]

I call this one (almost) perfect.

Installation:

[caption id="attachment_61" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="ISO_Attention_13"][/caption]

The Gecko seems to be a perfect eyecatcher.

End of installation:

[caption id="attachment_62" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Scanpath_Picture_14"][/caption]

There is nothing to add to this picture really. The subject only complained about the screen. The subject said it was ugly, distracting and simply bothersome.

This concludes the little slideshow. These pictures are from a 25 year old subject who uses openSUSE daily but never did a single install himself. I think it points out there (might be) are some very specific problems to the installer which can be tackled. However, this has to be done in a scientific way, meaning, using clear measures like eyetracker and EEG and with enough subjects. The pictures above therefore do not fulfill these requirements.
Just talking about how to do something in IRC or mailinglists does not help any more. The usability has become too good for using such methods to make it better. We now need hard data to work with.

Missing Library Files for Zypper

Severity: Major

The following error is very important to steer-clear of because the only alternative I have found that will solve this problem once it occurs is to completely reinstall OpenSUSE 11.0. The error began when I was alerted that updates were available for installation and allowed my system to install the patches. The first error I received was a list of dependency errors (as follows)...

nothing provides libexiv2.so.4 needed by libkexiv2-3-0.1.7-15.i586
nothing provides libexiv2.so.4 needed by ufraw-0.13-52.i586
nothing provides libexiv2.so.4 needed by ufraw-gimp-0.13-52.i586
nothing provides yast2 >= 2.17.7 needed by yast2-installation-2.17.0-2.noarch
zvbi-0.2.30-3.i586 requires libzvbi.so.0, but this requirement cannot be provided
gconf2-branding-openSUSE-2.20-60.noarch requires desktop-data-openSUSE = 11.0, but this requirement cannot be provided
libtunepimp5-mp4-0.5.3-100.pm.9.i586 requires libtunepimp5 = 0.5.3-100.pm.9, but this requirement cannot be provided
zypper-0.11.9-0.1.i586 requires libzypp.so.424, but this requirement cannot be provided

The problem was compounded when I went to install a package in YaST Package Manager. I received the following error as I tried to install an unrelated package: click here. After some time of letting this problem go, I made the decision to downgrade Zypper. This worsened the problem as I now could not open any YaST Modules, such as Package Manager and LAN Connections. I got the following xmessage error...

Error while creating client module sw_single

The update for Zypper also had the dependency...

zypper-0.11.9-0.1.i586 requires libzypp.so.424, but this requirement cannot be provided

I downloaded the source files for libzypp.so.424 and moved them into the /usr/lib directory. This did not solve the problem. I was instructed to issue the command zypper sl in a terminal window to give a readout of the current repositories installed. After reinstalling OpenSUSE 11.0 (the second time, because I ran into this problem once, then reinstalled, and had it again, and reinstalled again), it was found that the error was caused by repository errors.

Solution

The error above is a known OpenSUSE problem, but is only caused by manually installing specific repositories. It was found that if Factory repositories, rather than 11.0 repositories, were added to YaST/Zypper, a dependency error would occur because the Factory repositories were not the same version as that of the operation system (OpenSUSE 11.0). The best way to keep this error from happening is to be sure that the repositories you add should be for version 11.0 (or your version of OpenSUSE) and not the Factory or another version of the repository.

I could start by telling you a long story about trying to get a working XFCE desktop in openSUSE. In

I could start by telling you a long story about trying to get a working XFCE desktop in openSUSE. In fact, I think I will. Sometimes I'm cruel that way.

I installed openSUSE from the KDE4 live CD, figuring that it should be easy to add XFCE from the package repository once I had the basic system installed. After all, starting with Xubuntu, I'd managed to install KDE, Gnome, IceWM, Fluxbox, and more. In each case, it was just a matter of picking one item from a list and letting the package manager take care of the rest.

Not here. I don't know what I did wrong, but I never could get XFCE completely working. Installing XFCE itself didn't install the XFWM window manager automatically. When I installed it separately, it didn't work. I fiddled with this and that, but I never got a proper window manager. Running a windowed desktop without a window manager is a bit surreal. The window manager is what gives you the controls for the windows--simple little things like close and minimize buttons. Without it, there's no way to move the windows, change their size, or close them.

[caption id="attachment_12" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="This is what I mean by "a bit surreal.""][/caption]

Probably I did things in the wrong order, or made the wrong choice when I guessed which was the XFCE metapackage, or something. But that's not the issue. If I'm an idiot, then Ubuntu made the process idiotproof. This openSUSE thing doesn't. There's a lot of software to choose from, but I'm not impressed with the package management.

There—I got that out of the way. Otherwise, there's a lot to like about openSUSE.

First of all, it's really green by default, and it's a pretty shade of green. We need more pretty green operating systems in the world. It does seem odd that the window decorations are KDE blue, which doesn't go very well with the green background. But I don't fault a distribution for aesthetic decisions that can easily be changed, as long as they don't interfere with usability.

The installation is very good. As with Ubuntu, you can pretty much accept the defaults all the way through and end up with a working system. My impression is that the openSUSE installer gives picky users more options to fiddle with if they know what they're doing. Another thing I noticed: openSUSE installs separate root and home partitions by default, which will earn it the applause of many Linux gurus. This way, you should be able to change your whole operating system by writing over the root partition, leaving the data in the home partition intact.

The installation doesn't take all that long—less than half an hour on my excruciatingly slow machine. After it's done and you reboot, the system spends a few more minutes configuring itself, then lands you on the desktop with a somewhat helpful welcome screen that gives links to where the real help lives.

[caption id="attachment_13" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Welcome to openSUSE."][/caption]

Hardware detection seemed pretty good to me, which is to say that I was able to get everything working with no fuss. I never once opened a terminal in openSUSE, and to me that's a very good thing.

Non-free extras like Flash and multimedia codecs are not installed by default, but you can get them easily enough. I wasn't successful in installing Flash in Firefox by the normal method ("Click here to install missing plugins,") and I didn't have the patience to figure out what went wrong.

KDE4 is the default desktop; you can also get a Gnome edition of the live CD, and you can get a DVD that has the kitchen sink, too. There have been a lot of complaints about KDE4, and I can't say it's my favorite desktop. It crashed a few times, but it handled the crashes gracefully. It also ran with acceptable speed on my nine-year-old test system with 256 MB of memory, which is a considerable accomplishment when you think of what Windows Vista needs to accomplish roughly the same level of functionality.

I don't like the “Kickoff” menu style, which is the default style in KDE4: I think it takes far too much clicking around to get anywhere. But it's easy to change back to the old KDE menu: just right-click on the menu button (it's a lizard head in openSUSE) and choose “Switch to Classic Menu Style.”

[caption id="attachment_14" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Changing from "Kickoff" to "Classic" menu style in KDE 4."][/caption]

The software selection is good. Most of the standard stuff is there: OpenOffice.org, Firefox and Konqueror, and so on. No GIMP, which is a bit surprising at first, but space is at a premium on a single CD, and the GIMP is a logical omission for a distribution obciously aimed at office tasks.

One little surprise: the KDE edition came with IceWM installed as an alternate window manager. You can choose it from the “Sessions” menu when you log in. For old machines, I like IceWM: it works the way most people expect a computer interface to work, but it's zippy enough for the most anemic hardware. The openSUSE installation of IceWM is sparse, and the menu design is simply awful, requiring five or more clicks to get to most programs. You can tell what kind of person put together this implementation of IceWM by the fact that the only button on the toolbar is one for the terminal. But IceWM is there, and it's at least customized to work with openSUSE, which is better than you get from Ubuntu, where installing IceWM from the repositories gives you a generic version that doesn't have menu items for many of the programs that come with Ubuntu by default. If you're comfortable with the configuration files, you can make IceWM work the way you want it to work, and you can replace the hideous themes that come with it.

[caption id="attachment_15" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Very, very bad menu design."][/caption]

So what do I think of openSUSE? I think it's aimed at techs and networking people who want a good desktop system they can install for their users and manage with the powerful tools that openSUSE provides. In other words, for real people who get real work done with computers, it's best to have a geek set it up for you. If your tech sets up an openSUSE system for you, you'll have a good, stable desktop that's easy to use. If you have to fiddle with it yourself, however, you might find yourself wishing you had a tech to manage it for you.

Ubuntu is still my benchmark, because it's what I know best and because it sets a high standard for ease of use and popular appeal. How does openSUSE compare? From the individual user's point of view, it's not as good. Things that are easy and obvious in Ubuntu are not as easy and obvious in openSUSE.

But if I were a network pro, I might have a different opinion. The strong selection of networking and administrative tools might sway me toward openSUSE.

I haven't mentioned yet that openSUSE is sponsored by Novell, a company that many open-source types despise for its treasonous agreement with Microsoft. I have a lot of sympathy for that spite, but I'm not going to get into that argument right now. I've just looked at what I can do with the software. From a single-user desktop point of view, it's pretty good, but it's not as good as Ubuntu. That's my opinion, anyway. Now it's your turn to tell me I'm wrong.

I am very happy that my little blog is now aggregated on Planet Ubuntu Users. I am sad that my first post is about getting rid of Kubuntu in favour of openSUSE. I was pissed off at Kubuntu at the time of writing that post, now that I have calmed down I may change my mind.

I had tried to get on PUU a month ago or so but was not accepted because I had sent a picture of the back of my head instead of a proper hackergotchi. I was to lazy busy to create one, so yesterday I finally decided to do it and try again. I am glad that I did. There are lots of how-to's on the 'net you can follow that can help you if you don't know what to do, I used Nicu's How-to as a guide. I was going to write a how-to on using gimp but there are so many of them already I decided against it.

While I was looking for a picture of myself to change into a hackergotchi, I decided to change two of my computers desktop backgrounds. The first one is "kramer", my laptop.

The second one is "babu", my eeePC.

I'll leave you with that. The next post should have more substance.

Ubuntu: (and official derivatives) 6.06 LTS, 6.10, 7.04, 7.10, 8.04 LTS
Fedora: 7, 8, 9, Rawhide
openSUSE: 10.2, 10.3, 11.0, Factory
Arch Linux: 2007.08
FaunOS: 0.5.4
Damn Small Linux: 4.4
Puppy Linux: 4.00
FreeBSD: 6.3, 7.0
NetBSD: 4.0
PCLinuxOS: 2007, 2008
Linux Mint: 3.1, 4.0m, 5-r1
Debian: Stable/Etch, Testing/Lenny, Unstable/Sid
Zenwalk: 5.2
Gentoo: 2007.0, 2008.0-Beta2
Slax: 6
CentOS: 4,5
Mandriva: 2007.1, 2008.0, 2008.1
Frugalware Linux: Stable, Testing, Current

Sono stati inoltre inclusi vari strumenti utili come:

Parted Magic, Super Grub Disk, Backtrack, Ophcrack, NTPasswd, Gujin, Smart Boot Manager (SBM), FreeDOS.

Isto é possível utilizando a seguinte dica...

Baixe o plugin daqui (traduzi ele para pt_BR);

Extraia o conteúdo do pacote;

NOTA : Os programas p7zip, bunzip2, bzip2, gzip, rar, unrar, tar, zip e unzip devem estar instalados.

1-Baixe o LiveCD do openSUSE 11.0 daqui
