Ich war außerdem erkältet, so dass mir die Zigarette nicht so richtig geschmeckt hat. DAS hat mich richtig angepisst...Was noch? Die beschissenen Fans, die in den ersten Reihen standen und still standen, sie nur mit ihrer beschissenen Handy-Kamera Videos aufgenommen haben...Ich haaaaasse diese Leute! Was gut war: ROBYN! und ein paar Lieder, die live echt gut waren..."Like A Prayer" im "Don't You Want Me" MashUp. Madonna und ihre Laune...Das Stadion war fast voll. nur die scheiß plätze ganz an den seiten war leer, wer will schon dort sitzen...pfff.

Ich weiß, dass Tokio Hotel jetz gaaanz groß rauskommen. Sogar in den USA sind sie mal ne gute Abwechslung, vor allem eine positive, denn die Amis kennen jetz mehr Leute, die aus Deutschland kommen, ich meine neben Hitler...Im Ernst! Sie bilden Brücken zwischen den Kulturen...

Unter anderem hilft Alexander von Eich einer arbeitslosen Familie, dabei ist mir aufgefallen, dass Frau Erdmann (arbeitslos) so spricht wie Erika von der Capitol. Gut, bei genauerem hinsehen sieht man dann, dass sie es nicht ist (bevor hier jetzt wieder einige meckern), ABER vielleicht ist es ja die Schwester.

Auch wenn man in der heutigen Fernsehlandschaft einiges erwarten kann, muss man doch davon ausgehen, dass die Folgen mit Alexander von Eich insofern gestellt sind, dass die Familie nicht echt ist. Das wiederum lässt den Schluss zu, dass hier wirklich die Schwester von Erika in ihrer ersten Rolle zu sehen ist.

A couple of weeks ago, I had enough green in my wallet to splurge on a pair of oxford heels I've been DYING to own prior to actually purchasing it at the Nordstrom located within the Easton shopping center. It was a gorgeous pair of Vince Camuto's Karl Oxfords with a giant gold statement buckle perfectly aligned along the side. Since then, I've been envying myself in front of my mirror with the pair hugging my feet like a long-term boyfriend.

Dampening my mood is the question of "when to wear them" and "how often should these be worn?" Granted, the style is casual enough to be worn in an everyday manner, yet oil-slick sleek for even the most formal occasions. Like seeing your dog come home with a wound on its paws, it'd tear me apart to see even the slightest scuff on my precious oxfords; and as similar as taking your wounded dog to the vet, a little bit of maintenance for every scuff and ripping seams can add up, which is why I seldom wear them unless a special occasion arises on my agenda.

Athens, OH is definitely on the list of towns with the worst terrain for one's stilettos to clack through. The town is notorious for it's lack of maintenance with its brick roads, as well as having a ton of brick roads and sidewalks in the first place. (Call us, "Brick City.") To take public transportation or even transportation in general during a night out is absurd and unnecessary when the destinations within the college town are walking distance. Mais dans le nom de la mode, there must be an alternative to this sacrifice!

Alas my prayers were recently answered in the September issue of Vogue (surprisingly). Of course the answer wasn't tucked away within an editorial or featured article, it was within a three page advertisement for Payless.

I circled around a particular pair of Booties designed by Alice + Olivia for Payless and the circles continued to makes its rounds until the pen's last drop of ink, because that's how giddy I was about this particular collaboration. Payless has recently, since last year, jumped on the designer hook-ups bandwagon, along with Target, H&M, UK's Topshop, and many other retail shops. Alice + Olivia joins the list of designers which includes Abaeté, Lela Rose, and Patricia Field, who is the known stylist for hit series "Sex and the City." (On that note, I was slightly disappointed with how "cheap" - quality wise - that collection looked.)

At a deal breaking $48.00, the brand's Jane Back Zip Boot is an ultimate must-have to accent my wardrobe and delightfully enrich my collection of shoes. I'm not too wacky about the other shoes in particular (maybe a few of the Mary Janes), but maybe that's just my reaction to a tight budget. I think the open-toe version looks like one too many steps have been taken in the editing process, thus the step back is satisfyingly picture perfect - which is what I'm excited to be with the right dress and jacket, and a sigh of relief from the daunting sacrifice of the other pair of the too nice shoes.

I’m pleased to report that I’ve got through the first 4 days of LighterLife without cheating but I have to say, it was tough. The party on Saturday night was one thing but Sunday was a challenge too. Sunday is generally the lay about, comfort food type of day in my house (normally a nice roast and some naughty stuff in the evening). With that said, I think I’m getting stronger every day. Cooked for the first time yesterday for the kids and, although I was tempted to finish off the rest of the fish fingers (those that hadn’t been thrown on the floor in a strop) I resisted and threw them in the bin. It was a bit of a wake up call actually cos I would have normally eaten em. As I was putting it in the bin, I realised quite how much there was. I guess it’s the little things like picking at leftovers that really makes the difference over time. This brings me on to eating habits. One thing I keep reading on forums etc is how much you notice while you’re on LL that slimmer people don’t pig out at things like parties, buffet’s, BBQ’s etc. I haven’t quite got that far but I’ve noticed the other way. At the party on Saturday night there was a pretty big woman at the food and frankly, I was shocked at how much was on her plate when she left. It was more than I would normally have had but not by much. I would have also picked at the food later on as I was getting drunker though. I think being on 530 calories a day gives you some kind of super food/portion size radar. You really notice how much some people are eating. Not to mention the amount of food ads on TV.

I’m also lucky enough to have a very supportive OH though. She’s on the weight watchers meals in the evenings now and there won’t be any trace of dinner when I get in at 7 from the office. I do have to chuckle though when she moans about trying to lose that half a stone so she can be 9 stone something! Speaking of the office, it’s Monday morning and I’m pleased to report that my shirt does feel a little looser. I hate anything that’s even remotely tight so not having any of the gaps between buttons bulging is real bonus! I’m already starting to worry though, work shirts and suits ain’t cheap so (all going well) I’m gonna look like I’m wearing my dads clothes to work for a while. There’s only so much a belt and tighter tie can do! Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself……

As for the actual diet, water consumption is good and I’m pleased to report that having 4 full 1 litre bottles in the fridge really helps to track consumption at the weekend. I’ve had all the food packs and to be honest, I don’t mind any of them. With that said though, I don’t think my food order next week will include any caramel shakes. They’re ok but I can certainly live without them. Adding salt and pepper (along with tobasco sauce) to the soups really does make a difference. So much so that I’m popping to Sainsbury’s in my lunch hour to pick up a bottle for the office. That extra bit of zing really does help. On the non food front, I didn’t ‘go’ yesterday for the first time in ages. However, all was in order this morning so, no constipation for me. A sure sign that I’m drinking enough water. I’ve also got some ketosis sticks now because I wanted to test myself in the morning. When I went for my pop in on Saturday I only barely had traces of ketones but I knew that was to do with already having 2 litres of water that day. I’m pleased to report that my results are much clearer in the morning when I’m more er…..concentrated. On the downside, I still want to eat. I really do miss the sensation of chewing and swallowing food. Something I hope the bars will satisfy on week 2. I’m also still suffering from headaches but I think I have some Man Flu coming.

Hoje descobri que terei mais trabalho - ainda, é - e o mesmo salário - "não espere aumento" foram as palavras pronunciadas. Fascinante. Aí também me disseram para "não sofrer por antecipação", expressão essa que eu uso o tempo todo, tal qual "enfim" e "garota?!". Foi um dia estressante no trabalho, porque eu já tinha dito anos atrás que all women grow up to be bitches. Vou mudar para all women are born to be bitches, porque é algo óbvio e senso comum. Como posso eu gostar de duas pessoas que não se bicam?, mistérios do desconhecido.

Não se preocupe, tem dias que eu também não entendo nada do que escrevi aqui. Daqueles pensamentos que só fazem sentido em uma hora determinada, compreende?

Once the game was officially cancelled at Sendai, Sadaharu Oh went to pay a visit to Katsuya Nomura, both legendary players and managers in NPB history. With the press present, naturally, the talk quickly turned to why manager Senichi Hoshino's team failed to even medal, let alone gold.

Here's a snippet of their conversation as reported by Sports Hochi.

Nomura: Olympics was a failure, wasn't it?

Oh: Yes, it was disappointing. It's difficult. One loss means it's all over.

Nomura: It's difficult to select players. The heart of the order, 3-4-5 hitters need to be solid.

Oh: It's always difficult for batters when they face new pitchers for the first time. But ours (Tsuyoshi Wada and Toshiya Sugiuchi) got hit pretty hard. (Comment: Wada and Sugiuchi both pitched 2 games each, Wada 4.82 ERA in 9 1/3 IP and Sugiuchi 0.84 ERA in 10 2/3 IP, so it was only Wada who got hit moderately hard. Olympic stats here.)

Earlier before Oh's visit Nomura had already criticized Hoshino Japan, that the team was "unable to make use of all its data. Totally wasted a good thing there. I thought things got off to a bad start when they chose a group of friends to manage the team (Hoshino is friends with coaches Tabuchi and Yamamoto). Managers who used to be pitchers don't know what position players go through either." (Comment: Hoshino pitched for the Dragons, peaking in the 70's.) Oh also commented on the overall team strengths of Korea, Cuba, and USA.

Oh: They didn't swing at any balls. Great plate discipline. Once again, we saw how important great batting eyes are. (Comment: says the man who has NPB leading 2390 career walks and an astounding .446 career OBP. At Beijing Japan only walked 24 times, other teams were Canada 15, Cuba 37, Korea 30, Taiwan 30, and USA 34.)

Nomura: The batters swing without taking big steps.

Oh: They wait for the ball, and still get distance on the balls they hit.

Nomura: Different muscles.

Oh: It's difficult for starters to pitch relief. Though, I understand that it's also difficult to select middle relievers on Team Japan... and on top of that the roster size is only 24 players. (Comment: MLB is 25, while NPB uses a 28 man roster with lots of leeway.)

Nomura: Kids these days are weak. They have the gall take 10 days off by fouling pitches off themselves. I didn't want to lose my job, so I even played with broken bones.

Oh: Well, we are 1st and 2nd in all time games played so we were tough, but there are players who give in easily to pain.

Nomura: You are a man of integrity. I lack integrity. That there shows up in our difference of 200 homeruns. (Comment: 868 v 657 career homruns for the two living legends.)

The two talked for 40 minutes, but these were the quotes that made it onto Sports Hochi. World's homerun king Oh, of course, has also led the champion Team Japan in WBC 2006. And Nomura, the greatest hitting catcher in NPB history, managed Cuban manager at Beijing, Antonio Pacheco, when he played at Shidax in the Japanese industrial leagues. Oh has been to the Japan Series 4 times as manager and won twice, Nomura 5 times and won three times. (Comment: Hoshino has been to the Japan Series 3 times as manager but has never won it.)

王監督「初めての対戦はバッターは難しい。でもウチの（和田、杉内）はよく打たれましたね」

ノムさんは“対談”の前にも星野ジャパンの問題点を指摘していた。「データが生かし切れなかったんじゃないか。宝の持ち腐れ。仲良しグループ（の首脳 陣）を選んだ時点でダメだと思った。投手出身の監督は野手の気持ちが分からないしな」　一方、王監督は韓国、キューバ、米国の総合力の高さに目を見張っ た。

王監督「ボール球を振らなかった。見切りがいい。やっぱり大事ですね、選球眼は」

ノムさん「ステップせずに打つやつばかりやな」

王監督「引きつけて打って、飛距離も出る」

ノムさん「筋肉が違うよ」

王監督「先発が救援するのは難しい。中継ぎ専門を（代表に）選ぶのも難しいですが…それに２４人しかいないのも大変」

ノムさん「今の子は痛みに弱い。自打球で１０日も休む。オレは誰にもレギュラーを渡したくないから骨折しても出た」

王監督「我々は出場試合数が歴代１位と２位ですから頑丈ですが、痛みに弱い選手もいますよ」

ノムさん「人格者だな。オレは非人格者。その違いが（２人の本塁打の）２００本の差だよ」

約４０分間の電撃対談。半世紀にわたって日本プロ野球を支える２人が口にした苦言、提言の根底にあるのは、実力を発揮できなかった日本代表へのもどかしさだったのかもしれない。
