  It shows the Winter Feastia, the Aqua Grabber, the Under Water Party, the second anniversary of Club Penguin and the play Shadow Guy and Gamma Gal vs. Squidzoid!

  Also Club Penguin said unlik last year there will be more areas decorated and it will be all weekend instead of one day!

1) Something interesting is happening.  I can't talk about details yet, but I'll let you all know when I know the final details - probably Wednesday afternoon.

2) As you probably know, Chris is back and out of the hospital.  He's staying with us for a while, while he recovers.  We're pumping calories into him at an astronomical rate.  Hopefully we can have him good and fat soon.

3) I've signed up on sparkpeople.com  It's a fitness and nutrition tracking site.  I'm trying to sort of diet = 1850 calories or less per day.  So far it's going pretty good. 

4) In that regard I've recently put a post up on my fitness blog - runfatboyrun.wordpress.com  I'm planning to add to it more regularly again.

5) I'm writing this on my laptop with no internet connection.  If all goes well this should publish when I get to an internet connection later in the day.  What fascinating modern times we live in.

6) Going to Kamloops soon.  Have an appointment with a specialist about my back disease.  I'm hoping for some sort of miracle drug that takes away my pain and lets me sleep full nights again.  That would be cool. 

7) Spore is pretty cool.  I've been playing offline only in  my "liberated" version.  Now that EA/Maxis has said that they'll be changing the copy protection to allow five activations and are putting in place a tool to "de-authorize" activated computers (much like iTunes) I'll consider buying it if I don't get it for my birthday.

8) Which is coming up soon!  I'm getting oldish.

9) Dylan is officially a 6mo.  That's pretty cool.  She's loving real people food - although she only gets to gum bread and rice crackers and stuff to death.  The occasional bit of rice cereal.  Y'know - baby stuff.

10) People are coming over tonight.  It's officially a wedding planning exercise, garnished with a fresh beef roast and veggies.  I think Scott is planning to add a topping of Rock Band Fun after we get the work part done.  Since Ivy pooped in the potty it's also going to be her potty pooping party we've been promising her since we started this whole potty training affair.  And what an affair it's been!\

11) Ivy pooped in the potty!!!!!  YAY! Word! Dude! Party Time! Excellent! (guitar solo) Sweeeeeeeet!

12) I rode my bike to work today.  Chilly.  I had to scrape frost off the seat, put on a scarf, and wear ski-doo gloves.  It was pretty cold, but once you get to 100km/h at least your helmet unfogs!  Awesome!  I'm guessing this will be one of my last commutes this year on the bike, and prolly one of the last times I get to ride before I have to winterize the little baby and put it away for the winter.  Sad me.

A crop of 7,700 tonnes will produce around 1,100 tonnes of heroin - it basically works on a 7:1 ratio.The mystery is that the global demand for heroin is less than half that. In other words, Afghanistan only needs to produce 3,500 tonnes to satisfy every known heroin user on the planet.

Look at the graph, though.

For the past three years, production has been running at almost twice the level of global demand.The numbers just don't add up.

Go peep the article for the thoeries.  I'm for the stockpiling one.  When times are good, go like gangbusters(bangers) and extract what you can.  But you don't want to flood the market with product, as that would hurt prices.  OPEC knows this, so I would expect their neighbors in Afghanistan propably peep it as well.

BTW, Afghanistan is, strangely, the place where the War on Terror and the War on Drugs have become the exact same thing....but only as far as Heroin in concerned.  If we were to focus that Terror war back to Afghanistan (vs. Iraq) and that drug war to Afghanistan (vs. here in the U.S) and then we might be able to actually win them both.

And we would know that we have done so by looking that that graph above, and how it changes in the future.

Maybe Ninjas will finally be coming to CP like when they had them in Penguin Chat 3. Hopefully they bring Ninjas soon but until then here is how the CP Times mentions the Ninjas. First CP goes over the Dojo in the "Secret Rooms" in the In Focus section. And last Aunt Arctic answers a question about a Ninja!! She does not state any info that we all ready know except that Aunt Arctic will continue her investigation in them.

The rest of the World This Week October 5, 2008 show should be up tonight or tomorrow morning.  The video is in the can, now it's just editing time.  I think I did a decent job with the above video and learned a couple more tools.  Things should keep improving, and I should have a PIP debate in Part 2 of the Update.

A US strike on a Pakistani village near the Afghan border has killed at least nine people including suspected foreign militants, Pakistani sources say.

Initial reports said at least 20 people had died when an unmanned aircraft (drone) fired on the village in North Waziristan region.

But officials later talked of between nine and 12 deaths.

The US military has not confirmed any drone attacks and a Pakistani spokesman said there had been no intrusion.

North Waziristan is a stronghold of Islamic militants, including the Taleban and al-Qaeda, which US and other international troops are fighting in Afghanistan.

Many people, one of whom isn't John Mcain, don't know where Waziristan is. As you can see from the map under the above link, it's a part of the Pakistan/Afghanistan border "tribal areas".

Also interesting about it is, well, that's where the GWoT is currently happening.

This came up in the second Presidential debate last night, with McCain making a point about strikes in Waziristan (and other pseudo-anonymous regions). His point wasn't that such strikes shouldn't happen (he's all for them), his point was that Obama was naive for saying that such strikes might happen if Pakistan doesn't do them for us.

I.e. it was a tactical communication point, not a strategy point.

The facts on the ground reveal that this particular Rubicon has already been crossed. Arguing about whether or not we are going to have had talked about doing it is silly (yes, I think I conjugated that correctly).

While the big stick is swinging, no one can hear the soft voice.

Let's see, unless the dogs and cats evolved opposable thumbs and a desire to reorder the drawers overnight, it wasn't them.

Unless my 7 month old son, learned to crawl, walk, climb, and develop fine motorskills enough to climb out of his crib, open the bedroom door, walk down the stairs into the kitchen, and again reorganize the kitchen drawers, it wasn't him.

While my wife's memory is shot from becoming a mother, I doubt she decided to reorganize the highly ordered kitchen...at least without telling me.

So that only really leaves, fairies, brownies, ghosts, angels, devils, demons, and hyper evolved Ninja turtles.  It must have been one of them who put the can opener in the wrong slot in the drawer.  Yep, must have been one of them.

Things I am grateful for:

1. Hyper Evolved Ninja Turtles who fight crime, and reorganize kitchens.

4. My Son
5. Marmosets

Whats funny is I've actually tried this.

Why is it that some cats only do entertaining things when they're told they'll be starring on youtube? They probably think they'll get a product placement deal with Whiskas or something having seen this video...

love it. tip of the cap to Ian though as he rightly points out probably not the best marketing tactic if you want to create long-term brand advocacy amongst cats.

My very dear New Yorker friend Forest graciously set up a fantastic dining experience at Ninja (sushi spot in TriBeCa) last weekend! It was a mind blowing experience. When Fitz and I met up with Forest and his date, we hopped into an elevator that descended below to a darkly lit scene right out of a Tokyo village. As the elevator doors opened, I gingerly looked around and then confidently stepped out of the elevator exclaiming, "What a relief, I was about ready to scream."

And right as I pronounced that last syllable, a ninja, garbed in black attire, leaped out at me and I screamed something awfully high pitched and awkward and nearly collapsed on the floor, huddled in the fetal position. Good times.

Let's just say that the remainder of the evening was an EXPERIENCE to remember. Fires, explosions, dry ice, creativity, and atmosphere all played strong roles in the evening entertainment. Lots of shrieks and giggles ensued. I loved the company, the food, the memories...I loved it all. I love New York.

MAIN MISSION

1 Talk to G

2 Get the locators

3 Get the rubber duck on the floor and the kite blueprints on the wall!

4 Get the twigs in the forest

5 Get the string in the attic

6 Then talk to a penguin working on the hydro hopper and pull the cord

7 Take the pump

8 Go to the plaza and talk to two penguins and help them get un-stuck then get the wad of gum

9 Go to the mine shack and talk to Rory

10 Fix the shack by making the right side of the poll facing up(diagnaly)

11 Then talk to Rory and weld the mine cart

12 When your done put a locator in the mine cart and send it in the shack

13 Then put the twigs on the kite blueprints and the string on that and the locator on THAT and put it on the sign at the top of the mountain

14 Fill up the duck with the pump, put the gum and the locator on the duck, and put the duck in the water

15 Go to the HQ, talk to G, and get the binoculars

16 Go to the fishing place (I'm not sure whats it's really called) and use the binoculars to see Hurbert

17 go to his base, get the spy phone, attach the spy phone to the binoculars and put it in a tree

18 Go back to the HQ talk to G and you have completed the mission!

Side Mission

1 Go to the ski lodge

2 Gather all the find four peices in the whole lodge (including the attic)

3 Then give them to the penguins playing find four

(The characters with big, starry eyes are not bad no matter how much they protest otherwise.)

Ganko appears to be a permanent character which makes me happy. She was wearing ponytails in this episode and she looked very cute.

Several episodes concerned the mystery of Recca’s origin and his destiny. Much of the story line was set in the Civil War era of Japan. It appears that a lot of noble sentiment and melodramatic declarations make up Recca’s heritage. Part of the story had all the characters (except Tokiya) swirly-eyed with emotion.

Now to the stuff I liked best.

Recca was very cute as a baby. Awww!

Yanagi prayed to a Jizo but when Domon mocked her, Tokiya and Recca threatened him with bodily harm.

At one point, Recca offhandedly beats up a villain.

There is an ass-groping of the wrong team member and some random punching. It’s puerile but it makes me grin.

Tokiya is mistaken for a girl and he realizes it. Wish that happened more often.

The following episode was all about training in the mountains during summer vacation. A fellow viewer wondered why they didn’t band together, taking their healer, to whale on train with each other all summer. I guess he was thinking of a ninja Valhalla. My guess is that the creators were saving the characters’ increased abilities so that there could be a reveal during battle.

I need to start rationing the disks. I don’t want to become surfeited with the series.
