Apoyándose en dos perfiles diametralmente opuestos (uno extrovertido y sanguíneo; el otro frío y calculador) Nadal y Federer le caen como anillo al dedo a Nike, que con el tándem Sampras-Agassi fue protagonista de los courts durante toda una década, haciendo del choque de personalidades una novela que se actualizaba en cada torneo y se fogoneaba en cada comercial.

El poder de las marcas deportivas en el mundo del deporte profesional es incuestionable, y más aún en Estados Unidos. En el ámbito del baloncesto profesional, Adidas y Nike libran una dura batalla por alcanzar el privilegiado lugar como marca de referencia. Las agresivas tácticas de márketing de ambas marcas dan lugar a todo tipo de teorías conspiranoicas que parecen rozar el absurdo pero que en ocasiones tienen inquietantes visos de veracidad. Os pido que echéis un vistazo a esta foto, con la que Nike presentaba las nuevas camisetas del equipo olímpico de baloncesto norteamericano (si hacéis clic la podéis ver más grande), y luego visitéis esta página:

En principio parece una foto más o menos normal, ¿no es así? Pero en el blog linkeado más arriba se apuntan algunos detalles que dan que pensar... Para empezar, el seleccionador, Mike Kryzewski, está sentado cuando todos los jugadores están de pie, lo cual llama la atención. ¿Será porque Dwight Howard es el único jugador de la selección que representa a Adidas, y no a Nike, en la selección, y la posición del pie izquierdo de Coach K le permite tapar el logo de Adidas de su zapatilla? Inquietante posibilidad, sin duda. Pero aún hay más: todos los jugadores están colocados por orden de estatura de mayor (izquierda) a menor (derecha), salvo los dos primeros, Howard y Chris Bosh. ¿Casualidad? Por si esto fuera poco, si nos fijamos un poco vemos que “Superman” es el único jugador que no tiene la mano en la espalda. Su brazo cuelga mientras sostiene un balón bajo el brazo... y su mano izquierda ocupa el espacio ideal para tapar el logo de Nike en los pantalones del equipo. ¿Estamos ante un caso de dos marcas que recurren a cualquier método imaginable para bloquear su presencia en la foto? Nike lo ha negado públicamente, declarando que son todo casualidades, pero no sé yo si creerlo. Ah, por cierto, por si alguien se fija en que Dwyane Wade lleva Converse cuando todos los demás (salvo Howard, claro) llevan Nike en los pies, que no se extrañe: Converse fue comprada por Nike hace ya algún tiempo.

Por cierto, el otro día leía por ahí declaraciones en las que reconocían que, efectivamente, a este equipo le falta estatura, pero que se ve que es algo intencionado. Que "en el baloncesto europeo es más importante el juego exterior". En fin, sobran las palabras.

Recently seen on the feet of Jordan Brand boss Gentry Humphrey is this upcoming Air Jordan Spiz’ike done up in a lime green/purple colorway. Set against a black upper, the cement print pops off nicely with the use of green and purple. The majority of this sneaker’s allocation will be seen in Europe with a small amount making its way into the US.

I think that cardigan sweater would have looked better with the gold trophy Roger...still pretty hot though.  Have I mentioned Roger is # 4 on my celebrity crush list... make that # 2.

Designed by DJ Clark Kent to pay homage to the Video Music Box and to celebrate the pioneering program's 25th Anniversary, the "Video Music Box 25th Anniversary" Nike Air Force 1 Low started out first as a practical piece of footwear that DJ Clark Kent designed to allow the sneaker to be worn across several occasions from Black Tie affairs to chillin on the corner. Apparently Van's design inspired another shoe customizer to create another Obama shoe, switching it up to the Nike Dunk. Las Águilas del América presentaron su nuevo uniforme para la temporada 2008-2009, en un evento realizado en el Estadio Azteca, donde jugadores como Salvador Cabañas, Guillermo Ochoa, Enrique Esqueda y el refuero Alfredo Moreno posaron con la nueva "piel".

La principal diferencia es que se le quitaron las plumas del brazo, que tenía la camiseta anterior, y ahora Nike optó por un modelo más limpio.

La camiseta de visitante es de un amarillo más claro, con dos delgadas franjas azul marino en los costados y el cuello rojo con azul marino también. El short y las calcetas son completamente amarillos.

El uniforme de visitante es azul marino, casi negro, con las franjas amarillas en los costados y el cuello amarillo con rojo.

Por su parte, los porteros tienen también dos nuevos modelos. Guillermo Ochoa lució un suéter azul rey con franjas y cuello negros, al igual que el short de ese mismo color, mientras que Navarrete portó un uniforme negro con franjas y cuello grises.

Los logos de Bimbo y Coca Cola siguen en el mismo lugar de antes, al frente.

La verdad sí se ve bien la camiseta de local, aunque no he visto la de visitante, pero dicen que se ve muy elegante. Pero creo que los americanistas pueden quedar satisfechos de su nuevo uniforme, pues Nike hizo un buen trabajo.

A ver, americanistas, qué les parece el nuevo uniforme de su equipo?
