Well, being my favourite singer, i tend to, keep up-to-date with a lot of things that are occurring within JoJo's life, professionally and personally, hehe.

I was really excited to hear that the hits "Leave" and "Too Little Too Late" singer will be bringing out a single very soon and her album entitled "All I Want Is Everything" will be released early 2009. So there's the information for you, right there, all those that thought JoJo was dead just 'cause she ain't been on the scene for some while.

But anyway, i was even more excited, shocked and surprised to find that she's now dating band member, Jeremiah Mcconico. She's only been out of a relation with footballer, Freddy Adu, who she claimed to have been her first real love, for nearly a year now?

Surprising considering she claimed that she was broken up about the separation. And some people may be saying right now, "It could just be a rumour. Most celebrity dating stories are a rumour, right?". Well, here's the proof ;):

Having lived here 3 years and not being a high roller, I’ve figured out some very good parking

Having lived here 3 years and not being a high roller, I've figured out some very good parking arrangements (read: cheap) that I'm going to share with you. Some are tips, some are sneaky spots and the last is a service I just discovered that seems pretty worth it. So here it is:

Somewhat Obvious Tips:

Don't pay the meters on Sunday or Holidays, it's free.

Many of the "loading zones" and "taxi cab" spots have hours posted and you can actually park there in those not specified, read the signs!

Park somewhere that has street sweeping once a month? Sign up for reminders from MyMotorMaid for free and avoid those pricey tickets (more than a meter ticket!)

You can actually get a ticket for parallel parking too far from the curb. The rule of thumb is less than a foot, so re-park if you are too far away.

Check out the Downtown Denver Partnership's www.experiencedowntowndenver.com map (choose transportation) to find other options.

Sneaky Spots:

Denver Pavillions Parking Garage (enter on Welton/15th): If you see a movie (or can make it into the theater), you can validate your ticket for up to 3 hours - voila! free parking downtown!)

Tabor Center Parking Garage (enter on Larimer/17th): Just walk into the Cheesecake Factory front desk and ask a host/hostess for a validation for the parking garage. I've never been asked if I ate there and I don't think they care, but if you feel guilty buy a slice of cheesecake and grab your ticket - it's much more satisfying than paying for parking!

Cool Service: Park By Phone is a service that lets you essentially phone in your parking lot or meter payment. You just pay $5.95 upfront and then park in any AMPCO system lots (the site has a list). Then when you park instead of paying there you just dial the number for the place and it pays your lot fee for you. The great thing is it's usually a cheaper rate than what the lot lists, plus you can always pay by credit card (get your points) and don't have to fumble with cash/change. It's a 10% surcharge at the end of the month for the service - but my friends who use it say they still spend less overall (the $12 lot down the street costs them $5 a day plus 10%).

Do you know of other sneaky spots that you're willing to share? Let us know...

The other day I was in what I believe to be the slowest elevator in Denver: the Denver pavillions elevator taken from the parking garage level 2 all the way up to level 3 - it takes a lifetime for it to reach you, not to mention just riding up to the theater. However, my friend Ana says she is an expert on Denver elevators, so here it is folks: The skinny on elevators in Denver via Ana the elevator expert:

Fastest elevator: 1999 Broadway - Lobby to 31st Floor (Don't take this if nauseated, hungover, or have any sinus congestion)

Smallest Elevator: same building as slowest

Coolest elevator system: Republic plaza: they have express elevators, but these run as a duplex, so if one stops on an even floor, the odd floor stops to - and it talks to you.

Coolest way to find out what elevator is coming: 1680 Lincoln (right across from wells fargo tower) will tell you which elevator to go to and an interactive map based on your floor selection (if someone wants to go to 10 and you only to 3, you won't ride the same elevator - aka less stopping)

Slowest Elevator: the building next to where Duffy's used to be (see image, it's the building on the right, duffy's is on the left and republic plaza is in the background). Runner up: Pavilions Elevator!

Estorsione
Falsificazione di documenti pubblici
Frodi fiscali
Furto con strappo
Furto in appartamento
Immigrazione clandestina ("pensate, dopo tutte le menate che fanno con la storia dell'immigrazione clandestina, adesso sospendono i processi" -- MarcoTravaglio)
Incendio e incendio boschivo
Intercettazioni illecite
Maltrattamenti in famiglia
Molestie

It's The Peak, a Denver event center you can book. 20,000 square feet, holds 2000 people, put up for the DNC, but will be around after that. Also touted at one of the largest freestanding temporary tents ever built.

First event you should attend at the Peak?: Sixth annual Summer Toast, an event for business and marketing professionals on Thursday, July 31st. Event info here.

Thanks, Leslie.

The DDP is running a program called "Get Downtown Unconventionally" during the month of August (DNC timeframe) encouraging people to leave their cars at home and join in the mass transit, walking, biking and carpooling crowd. You get a $100 VISA gift card if you complete the program and log your transits, and you must currently drive solo (not with others) to work 4 days a week and be a downtown employee within the 80202 zip code. Apply now to see if you make it into the program!

Similarly, a great program I've participated in in the past is Drive Less Denver. It doesn't look like they ran it in 08 (probably this program is in place of that one) - but check on the DDP site for similar opportunities to get free schwag and go green.

16th Street Mall Downtown has just launched a recycling program. About time people - I was sort of surprised to find out that we didn't have the program running before. Either way, look for bright yellow containers for your glass, plastic and newspaper between Larimar and Cleveland. (side thought: why doesn't Union station to Market get recycle containers?)

Other Downtown Green accomplishments:

90 new trees have been planted throughout Downtown.
100 flower planters have been placed along Downtown streets.
Coordination with RTD helped to plant 23 new trees on the 16th St. Mall in early summer 2007.
Purchase of energy-efficient LED holiday lights.

More Greater Denver Green Initiative info at Greenprint Denver.

Denver is one of the friendliest towns in the US, according to the Today Show. Some "did you know" fun facts from the story:

Downtown in the Mile High City is one big, car-free “pedestrian mall” lined with shops, bars and restaurants where locals and tourists alike hang out. There’s even a free shuttle bus that runs along the main street.

Denver is one of only two cities in America with eight professional sports teams.

The first permanent structure in Denver was a saloon. Talk about hospitality.

A cultural melting pot, Denver hosts the country’s largest Cinco de Mayo festival, the Longs Peak Scottish Festival, the National Gay Rodeo Finals, PrideFest, and it has the Black American West Museum in the historically rich African-American Five Points neighborhood. Its population is 40 percent Hispanic and 10 percent African-American.

The city also boasts comprehensive accessibility services like wheelchair-friendly trails and accommodations and transportation services for the physically impaired.

Denver will host the Democratic National Convention this August. For the convention, Bikes Belong will supply the city with 1,000 bicycles to be used in a system similar to that in Paris (credit card access; rates are lowest for short jaunts around the city). Seventy will be left behind as a legacy that Denver plans to grow into a city-wide public
transportation system of several hundred bikes.

The median single-family home sales price is $223,500.

Other cities that made the cut: San Antonio, TX, Nashville, TN, Madison, WI and Davis, CA.

Check out Cities by Foot - Denver from Crocs. The site features different cities explored by people wearing crocs (supposedly, although you never see them) - and in each city the site has a video showing different restaurants, entertainment and shopping spots.

The site says: Welcome to Cities By Foot, the one-stop travel site that gives you the lowdown on some of the world’s best cities. Here you can discover truly unique places to eat, shop and play. And of course, the easiest way to explore each city is by foot.

I'm not sure what exactly the site has to do with Crocs except that you apparently wouldn't want to walk too far in them (most of the Denver spots are in Larimer Square and not much further) - but it's worth a look.

If you are like me and park on a street in Denver, rather than a garage, chances are you have to move your car one random day a month for street sweepers. If this is you, check out this great site by MotorMaid - it lets you enter your email or phone and will email or text you reminders to move your car on the applicable day/time. I think that beats a street sweeping ticket.

Motormaid says of their site:

MyMotorMaid is brought to you by a small consortium of concerned citizens whom share an especially acute dislike of gratuitous and unneccessary vehicle parking regulation enforcement.
Our goal is simple and modest: Reduce the number of street sweeping/snow removal tickets given in the cities we serve by 15%. If you like this site, and it is helpful, please let us know!

Just to make sure everyone is "in the know" by now... Colorado's Blue Law (no booze on Sunday except 3.2 beer) is getting canned. Effective July 1st you can buy booze on Sundays. No more late night Saturday liquor store runs to grab champagne for Sunday Mimosa's for me!

However the debate is now who will sell it - liquor stores only or grocery stores, too.

On a totally unrelated note - I sort of dig the new 107.1 (which actually isn't that new) - but a lot of people don't seem to know about it yet. So check it out and see what you think. Site here.

Despite a plea for the family at the centre of the Austrian incest case to be left in peace, by yesterday police in the town of Amstetten had arrested 13 photographers attempting to get pictures.

Ruses employed by the photographers looking to get access to the Fritzl family have included donning camouflage gear to climb trees, wearing fake police uniforms and posing as cleaning staff.

The story of Elisabeth Fritzl, who was locked in a secret cellar dungeon and repeatedly raped by her father over 24 years, having seven children by him during that period, has resulted in hundreds of media organisations sending staff to Amstetten.

Members of the Fritzl family have been unable to move around and the media have lain siege to the hospital where Elisabeth's 19-year-old daughter, Kerstin, is critically ill.

Doors Open Denver is an opportunity to see 150 years of Denver Architecture dispersed throughout the city. This Saturday and Sunday (April 12th and 13th) from 10 am to 4 pm. Just stop by Union Station as early as 8:30 am on either day an register for one of 28 guided tours or get info to take a self-guided tour or an urban adventure (also self-guided but themed). More info on Doors Open Denver 2008 here.

I'm particularly excited about this event because Denver is not exactly pictured as a design center or city full of architechtural marvels. I'm an avid reader of Dwell and the only denver mention I've seen in the past two years is this one. I'd love to see Denver more "on the map" as a design center. Events like this are step in that direction - so go out and check out your surroundings, and support Doors Open Denver - after all, it's free!
