These people are clearly insane before they see the movie or listen to the music, it's that simple. Don't try to blame us, the artists, for societies failings. If someones crazy enough to kill, you'd think that having a good look at their upbringing would be the first step, hmmm?
And then, getting rid of all the guns and ammo would probably be step number two right? And then, if they still go on a rampage, then maybe you could look at the music lyrics, the films or whatever. But no one likes to accept the blame now do they.

Anyways, these are six films that supposedly pushed people over the edge.

1. William Friedkin’s BUG

This creepy but not entirely successful 2006 psycho-thriller about paranoia and insect infestations was directed by William Friedkin, most famous for The Exorcist. Despite dealing with a few murders and plenty of craziness in its own plot, the crime it inspired was considerably more horrific and strange. In January, blaring headlines like “Millionaire executive unhinged by horror film killed daughter” announced the tragedy, apparently trigged as stressed-out insurance executive Alberto Izaga watched Bug in a theater with his wife. (It was the only movie playing that had available seats; perhaps this tragedy could’ve been avoided, ironically, if the film were more popular?) Soon after, his wife would find him babbling incoherently in the middle of the night, shouting about the film, the Devil and death. Experiencing what his wife would call an “extreme and sudden” breakdown, he bludgeoned his two-year-old daughter to death while yelling “God doesn’t exist! The universe doesn’t exist! Humanity doesn’t exist!” Judged not guilty by reason of insanity, the judge passed sentence thusly: “This is a truly agonizing case. No sentence I pass can ever match the sentence you will pass on yourself.”

2. The Matrix and the Landlady Effect

The Matrix and its many sequels are deadly films. Deadly not only in terms of pacing, plot development and believability (the sequels especially), but also, strangely, to landladies. Claiming they had been “sucked into the Matrix,” a Swedish exchange student, Vadim Mieseges, and an Ohio woman, Tonda Lynn Ansley, attacked their landladies in an attempt to free themselves from mind control. Both plead (and were granted) insanity, and thus liberated from the Matrix (and, one would assume, their leases), they’re “free” to spend the rest of their lives in mental hospitals.

3. Scream

Yes, even parodies of horror movies can inspire people to kill. In fact, the list of murders attributed to this film is shockingly long and the crimes especially grotesque; this truncated version is from Crimelibrary:

A boy and his cousin in Los Angeles obsessed with the film murdered his mother by stabbing her 45 times; a man wearing the mask shot and killed a woman in Florida; a boy in France killed his parents while acting as Ghostface; and in England, a pair of boys repeatedly stabbed a third one, claiming the film had prompted them to do it.

4. The Ten Commandments

Admittedly, this isn’t a film you’d expect to find on this list, nor associated with such brutal crimes. It was a more innocent time, perhaps: in 1959, a serial rapist and killer dubbed the “the Beast of the Black Forest” was striking fear into West German hearts. Caught when he carelessly took a bloodstained suit to a tailor for mending (and left behind a briefcase containing a sawed-off shotgun), under interrogation 23-year-old Heinrich Pommerencke would blame his lust crimes on Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments, especially noting a scene in which scantily-clad women dance around a golden calf. (That’s when he “knew he had to kill,” he said.)

5. Taxi Driver

John Hinckley, Jr., President Reagan’s would-be assassin in 1981, has the rare distinction of claiming he was influenced not only by a book (Catcher in the Rye, naturally) but a film: Taxi Driver. The latter certainly has more parallels to Hinckley’s crime: Robert DeNiro stars as a lonely, obsessive taxi driver who hatches a plot to kill a prominent politician, but ends up unleashing his rage on a warren of local pimps, thus saving the waifish, gold-hearted prostitute played by Jodie Foster from a life of iniquity. Hinckley got the story a little backwards, claiming that he needed to shoot Ronald Reagan in order to “impress” real-life Foster (not a prostitute), with whom he was obsessed. (Nobody said psychos were logical.)

6. Natural Born Killers

This film has the dubious distinction of having “inspired” more killings than perhaps any other; the real-life body count is likely higher than that of Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis’ nihilistic killers in the film. They include a copycat Bonnie-and-Clyde style rampage which left one man dead and another woman paralyzed, a teenager’s decapitation, a gang killing and two infamous school shootings — Michael Carneal’s Paducah, Kentucky rampage and Eric Harris and Dylan Kleibold’s massacre at Columbine High School; the latter used the term “going NBK” in reference to their murderous plans.

Although it seems that CBK is in the news daily in talks about expansion, its just that investors are betting when and where it will be. The National Bank of Kuwait is taking over the Alwatany Bank of Egypt plus the large share for the Kuwaiti side in the Arab African Internationl Bank.

CBK shares have remained unchanged by the news, investors seem to be awaiting official statements.

• National Industries Group had risen almost 10% this year, falls 2.17%
• National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) gained more than 2% this month, falls 0.99%

Daar stonden we dan, met z’n zessen. In de kou en de drukte.

Nederland Bekent Kleur had gerekend op zo’n 10.000 betogers, maar vanwege het weer en de politieke afzeggingen stonden er iets meer dan duizend mensen op de Dam. Zes daarvan hoorden bij Vrij en Vooruitstrevend.

De jongste Politieke Partij was dan ook als enige Politieke Partij naar NBK gekomen. (Okee, de SP was er ook, maar roerganger Jan M. Heeft zich niet laten zien. Solidair met Bos en Balkenende, ineens?)

Wij waren er niet omdat wij nou zo graag Wilders opgeknoopt zouden zien, welnee. Er waren wel veel anti-Wilders aanhangers, maar daar draaide het niet om.

V&V wilde toch voornamelijk kennis maken met de belangstellenden op de Dam. Wat doe je hier, waar kom je vandaan, wil je een folder?

 Al snel bleek dat er naast een flink contingent ‘actieve boeroepers’, de jongens en meisjes in onherkenbaar zwart, ook veel lieve mensen waren gekomen. Her en der stonden groepjes oudere eerste generatie gastarbeiders (die heetten toen nog zo) vrolijk te lachen met nieuwe hippie-meisjes die bordjes met ‘Free Hugs’ omhoog hielden. Ad Visser was er ook. En iedereen wilde een folder.

De sprekers op het podium deden hun uiterste best om de menigte op te zwepen en tot luidkeelse daden te brengen, maar het weer bleef roet in het eten gooien. Zelfs de ME had het ijzig koud. Dus toen tegen drie uur de complete manifestatie er op zat, vonden de meesten het ook wel welletjes.

 Die vijfhonderd man politie heeft geen actie gezien, waarschijnlijk was het toch spannender bij FC Haarlem tegen Velsen-Zuid. Gelukkig hebben we alle politiemannetjes en –vrouwtjes kunnen vertellen dat we ook ook voor hen zijn, met onze site www.steundepolitie.nl . Hartverwarmend...

Volgend jaar doen we natuurlijk vanaf de voorste linies mee.

De IS steunen terreurbewegingen als Hamas en Hezbollah, criminele organisaties die onschuldige burgers uitroeien voor één ding, mensen onderwerpen aan de Islamitische Wet, de Sharia. Zoals de naam het al zegt steunt de IS het Communisme, hier zijn wat dingen die in het communisme zijn bereikt: Aantal moorden gepleegd door Communistische regimes: Mao (100.000.000 doden), Stalin (minstens 20.000.000), Pol Pot (2.000.000), Kim Il Sung (1.600.000 en dit getal neemt nog altijd toe onder het regime van zijn zoon), en dit lijstje gaat nog wel even door. Ze willen terug naar de idealen van het socialistische systeem, dat verre van sociaal was, want het aantal medicijnen dat in het communisme is uitgevonden: 0. Toch zegt de IS dat ze de Communistische regeringen van de Volksrepubliek China en de Sovjet-Unie niet steunen, ze vinden dat die landen niet het systeem hadden wat Marx voor ogen had. Dat is een enorm kromme uitspraak, want zoals bekend is viel het systeem uit elkaar toen Michail Gorbatsjov het systeem wou hervormen. Dat is het bewijs dat het systeem niet werkt.

Bestuurslid Rene Danen van NBK ontkent dat er banden met de IS zijn, maar in het laatste nummer van het blad van de IS 'De Socialist' blijkt dat de Internationale Socialisten 'samen met anderen het initiatief heeft genomen voor de Nederland Bekent Kleur-manifestatie op 22 maart'. 

Nederland Bekent Kleur laat zijn ware aard zien met het protesteren tegen een kamerlid die zijn mening uit, wat zijn plicht is als parlementariër. Kritische geluiden in het parlement zijn één van de kernwaarden van de democratie, en dat NBK Geert Wilders de mond wil snoeren geeft aan dat ze tegen die waarden zijn, en banden met de IS onderstrepen dat alleen maar.

 Al fin, despues de tanto especular tenemos una feaciente prueba de un juego con el cual, mas de un fanboy ha llenado su cabeza...

en una conferencia de prensa que se llevo a cavo el pasado 19 de febrero en korea, la compañia NTL presento la versión oficial de Dragonball Online, juego el cual habia estado siendo probado en korea durante el año pasado.

Se espera que Dragonball Online, sea lanzado al mercado durante el proximo trimeste en Korea.  Aunque no tenemos fecha oficial de lanzamiento para japon y America estamos seguros que pronto estaremos conectados en los diferentes servidores disfrutando de esta experiencia.

Dentro de las caracteristicas mas destacadas de este juego, bueno por lo menos en la opinion de este su redactor, se encuentran las siguientes:

- Participar en el Tenkaichi Budokai (Torneo de Artes Marciales, un clasico que nunca debe faltar)

- Personalizacion del Personaje (esto es clasico de todos los MMORPG)

- Las Razas, podremos elgir entre Humanos, Nameku y Saiyajin.

- ¿Busqueda de las esferas?, al parecer en este mmorpg basado en el universo de DB, podremos buscar estas miticas esferas y pedir un deseo a Shenglong, claro esta siempre vale recordar que Shenglong no cumplen deseos que sobre pasen los poderes de kami-sama.

En resumen, debemos agradecer a NTL korea, Bandai-Namco y obviamente al maestro de maestros Akira Toriyama, quien tomo gran parte en el desarrollo de este prometedor titulo.

SHARING is key to sucess

Los chicos de Jspot estan organizando un debate para tratar algunos de los temas mas importantes que afectan la escena Anime en Panama. Me parece buena la iniciativa, asi que todos los interesados en ir, estan totalmente invitados.

Fecha: Sabado 13 de Octubre
Lugar: 2do piso de Alliance Videogames
Hora: 3:00 pm en adelante

Algunos de los temas que se tocaran:

• Grupos de Anime es como una enfermedad mortal? (LOLWTF!)
• Es correcto apoyar los grupos de anime?
• Es correcto que [inserta tu grupo aqui] organizen eventos?
• Es correcto que nuevos grupos aparezcan?

Me parece una buena idea compratir ideas en algunos de los temas mas sensibles de una vez por todas. Si queremos todos ir en una sola direccion y hacer que la cultura japonesa y alternativa avance en Panama, es imprescindible estar todos de acuerdo en lo que se debe y no se debe hacer.
