Anyway... idag så hade jag bara tråkigt på förmiddagen och på kvällen så for vi till mormor och firade hennes 75-årsdag (fast egentligen är det den 24.7 men hon är "på rymmen" då!). Vi var inte där så värst länge. Kl. 21 for vi hemåt men jag stannade en stund vid mina kusiner då Natalie hade födelsedagskalas för sina kompisar (vi ska dit på söndag). Sedan for jag hem!

Everybody loves a good story about missing pets being reunited with their owners, so I was super happy to see this on on the Today show this morning. A Beagle named Rocco disappeared from his Queens home 5 years ago and popped up at an animal shelter in Georgia on July 5 - the pup traveled nearly 1000 miles!  Thankfully his original owner, Natalie Villacis, had implanted a microchip in Rocco which enabled the Georgia shelter to contact her. No one knows how Rocco made it to the deep south but they believe he was well taken care of, no word yet from the person who had been caring for him. Natalie is now 11 and so happy to have her companion back. "It was really nice to just lay in the bed [yesterday] - I was watching TV, and he's snuggling up by me, and I told him, 'You know, I love you, Rocco," she told the New York Post. What a cutie!

E para tentar resolver esse problema é que os produtores, em associação com a MTV americana lançaram o reality show “Legally Blonde The Musical – The Search for Elle Woods”, com apresentação de Haylie Duff e cujo último episódio irá ao ar no dia 21. A vencedora do reality show será a substituta de Laura Bell no musical.

Até agora, quatro das dez finalistas  ainda continuam na disputa: Autumn, Bailey, Lauren e Rhiannon. O último episódio vai ao ar na próxima segunda feira, e já no dia seguinte os nova-iorquinos terão a chance de conferir o desempenho da vencedora no papel.

Até sexta-feira passada, os brasileiros tinham a chance de conferir os episódios no próprio site da MTV, mas os produtores do musical pediram para que todo conteúdo de Legally Blonde fosse bloqueado para todos os países, com exceção é claro dos Estados Unidos (Talvez seja um reflexo da polêmica envolvendo os direitos que aconteceu no Brasil?).

No entanto, ainda é fácil de se encontrar os episódios em sites de vídeo como Youtube.

Apesar de alguns testes serem um pouco desnecessários (como dançar de bota no frio congelante sobre um chão de concreto ou fazer amizade com cachorros treinados), a idéia do reality show é bem interessante e outros já foram feitos pra selecionar atores para musicais em diversos países. Quem sabe um dia algum musical brasileiro não produz seu próprio reality show e encontra um novo talento?

Lördag: Kom till stan 12.30 och var med Mari + Michel. På kvällen "tävlade" jag, Michel och Jesper om vem som hittade mest pant. Jag fick för 5.15€! xD

Söndag: Var på marknan till 16.50. Då for jag hem och åt och sen for jag, mamma, pappa och min kusin Natalie till Närpes och såg på teater vid vridläktaren! Kom hem 21.15!

...But the celebrities we all have in our lives; the ones who don't know they're celebrities. I have more of these than I can count- most of whom I collected during college. You know, like the guy who wore a flannel bathrobe and slippers to all of his classes, the girl who made it a point to sleep with the entirety of the rugby team first semester freshman year, and most of the fake frat boys who genuinely seemed to enjoy wearing critter pants. (Nothing against critter pants here, really, it's just that I find them to be on a level of irony all their own):

Anyway.

Beyond the critters. Personal celebrities are kind of like crushes- they don't know that I'm staring (although they probably do), or that I'm making up an entire life story for them in my head. Here's my open letter to a current personal celebrity:

Dear Mean Lady On the 7 Train in the Mornings,

I used to stand next to you while waiting for the train, but then I realized you needed your personal space. And I think once you pooted while I was standing there. So now I watch you from afar. I like that you wear your sunglasses at all times - rain or shine, above or below ground. It keeps you mysterious, and most likely hides your evil glares. I wonder if you watch me watching you, but then I get creeped out and stop thinking about that. I like that your entire wardrobe is black, as is your box-died hair. Are you a vampire? I hope you don't hate your life- it's just that you're not a morning person. Or a vampire. I'm sure deep down, you just need a good hug. I would give you that hug, but I'm pretty sure you carry a shiv.

The three shows I am watching right now are The Bachelorette (ABC), Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for the Next Elle Woods (MTV), and So You Think You Can Dance (FOX).

Let's start with The Bachelorette. First off, I think this season has been way more entertaining than previous. I have no idea why they haven't had a bachelorette in such a long time. Well, I do know the reason. I guess the network thinks that if they put one guy with twenty-five hot girls, men will want to watch as well. But let's get real. These shows are for women. And women want two things: to be entertained and to watch hot men. For those of you who don't watch the show, I'll give you a mini recap:

Deanna Pappas, the Bachelorette, was the last women standing on The Bachelor a year ago. And she and the other woman in the final two were ditched at the last moment. I didn't personally watch that season. I stopped after they had the doctor from Fort Collins who was so boring I'd rather watch paint dry, and then the Prince Borgesi, who ended up ditching the girl he picked and dating the bitchy one we all hated.

This season has been great watching all the men fight for the girl. There has been lots of testosterone in the air and a couple of bachelor moments that were hilarious to watch. But now it all boils down to the final two. Last week, Jeremy was sent home, which I can't even begin to express how happy that made me. He was so possessive, walking around like he owned her and falling so head over heels that when he was booted he got super emotional. He was too perfect, and honestly, I think he even might be gay. Anyone who spends that much time in a gym is questionable to me. When he stopped the car on his drive away from the Bahama resort where the rose ceremony took place, I thought he was going to kill himself. But rest assured. He was on the Bachelorette reunion where the men tell all. And he was looking glum, oh well. That's the game.

Now Deanna is down to her final two. Jesse is a snowboarder who is a chill guy. He would be the kind of guy I would love to hang out with. And there is a lot of chemistry between them, but I'm not sure if it is more of a friendship with infatuation, or a romance. But Jesse is awesome. I feel like she has more chemistry and romance with Jason, the single father. He has been adorable and crushing on her from day one. And they look great together and can just be, which is so important. All I do know, is that Deanna said she is happy, in love, and engaged. If I had to place money on it, I'd say she will choose Jason. But who knows?

The Search for the Next Elle Woods

Now on to a more serious show. Many years ago, Broadway producers decided to start turning popular movies into Broadway musicals. This yielded award winning and/or nominated shows such as Hairspray, Xanadu, Cry Baby, Bride of Frankenstein, The Producers, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels -- just to name a few. With the success of The Producers winning numerous awards, especially Best Musical in 2001, and with Hairspray taking home the same Tony for Best Musical two years later, it's no wonder this trend is in the now.

Legally Blonde opened on Broadway in April 2007 starring Laura Bell Bundy as Elle Woods. After over a year of workshop-ing the show, previews, and performances, Bundy is leaving the show, probably to work on a something new that will hit Broadway in the next year or so. After the success of having an "American Idol" type show to pick the Danny and Sandy to star in the revival of Grease, MTV jumped on the band wagon to find the next Elle Woods on Broadway. They held auditions all over the country and narrowed it down to the final ten. From the get go, there were some I loved, some I hated, and some that just aren't Elle. But the one I am rooting for the most is Natalie Lander. Natalie and I went to middle school together and were in a group of five girls that hung out constantly. We went to different high schools and began drifting when we went off to different colleges in different states, but she is one of those people that whenever I see her we pick up where we left off. She is extremely talented and adorable (only being 5 feet tall! 9 inches shorter than myself...).

Two weeks ago I went with another friend to watch the show at her parents house with a group of forty or so Natalie fans! It was a blast! We booed, laughed and applauded as she sung and danced and was passed through to the next round. Last week they finally voted off Cassie S. who is a stupid jappy (jewish american princess) diva from Los Angeles. She really just was not talented and had an awful additude. They also did a surprise double elimination getting rid of Celina, the rocker chick. Celina is very talented, but just not right for that particular role. This week they eliminated Emma, who looks a bit like Reese Witherspoon, but came off as an ice queen. I'm sure she isn't actually a bitch, but that's what the competition brought out of her. Also, how can someone who wants to be a Broadway star be a smoker? It's absurd to me.

Now there are five girls left:

Lauren is the youngest of the bunch. She is 18 years old and boy can she belt out a tune. She is extremely talented, but I think she may need a bit more expererience and just worldly wisdom that comes with age before jumping into a Broadway show as the lead.

Next we have Amber, a high energy bubbly girl who has a lot of talent. Her acting is very natural and she has a great voice. She has been one of my favorites for a while now, and even though she has been in the bottom for the past two weeks, I feel she can bounce back and maybe win this thing. I also think that she would look awesome as a blonde.

Also in the running to be Elle Woods is Bailey. Bailey is a southern belle who can get rid of her accent pretty easily when performing the scenes they give her. But Bailey has the "Disney Princess" thing going on which gets boring after a few minutes. I prefer characters to be multi-sided which makes them more human and therefor more interesting to watch. However, Elle Woods would not talk shit about other girls no matter how much she wanted to, and in the confession segments, Bailey is caught putting down her competition quite often.

Rhiannon was not one of my favorites when I first saw the elimination from the 15 to the top 10. But over the course of the show, she's grown on me. However, she is pretty goofy and comes off as ditsy. Also he performances have never had the wow factor. I doubt she will win the role, but she seems like a sweet person and she is talented, so she will get roles elsewhere once she isn't so green.

And last, but not least, is my lady Natalie. I am really hoping she wins this. Hands down, she was the best last week for the "Shake Your Junk" dance. And knowing her off the stage, I can only say positive things about her as a person and as an actress. Unfortunately, I can't give you any information that you don't already know. She can't give her friends and family any spoilers of who goes, who stays, and ultimately who will be the new Elle Woods on Broadway. Kuddos to Natalie for making it this far, and here's hoping she takes it all.

If I had to pick who I would have win, it would be Natalie or Amber. They are the most convincing as the fun, spirited, bubbly girl as well as a Harvard grad student, which are both key components to Elle's character. Also, being the oldest two of the bunch, they have the maturity and probably more stamina than the others to carry off eight shows a week as a lead in a high-energy show. Bottom line: I hope Natalie wins so I can go watch my friend perform as the LEAD in a Broadway show!

The next show that I can't shut up about is So You Think You Can Dance. The talent this season is extremely good, and the choreography is great! My one gripe is that everyone has weird names and if your name is normal, or semi-normal, it is spelled strangely. Think about it. There is a Kourtni, Katee, Kherington, Thayne, and Chelsie. The bizarre names from the top 20 are Rayven, Comfort, Twitch, Gev and Marquis. Either they think they are cool by picking strange names or strangely spelled names, or they're parents were just cruel. But enough about what they are called, onto the dancing!

Mia Michaels, as always, blows me away with each dance she creates. It is truly mind blowing to watch her pieces. They provoke your emotions and dazzle your eyes. This week, she choreographed two dances, one for Kherington and Twitch and the other for Katee and Joshua. Both incredible. My top three couples are Chelsie and Mark, Kherington and Twitch, and Katee and Joshua. I think my most favorite are Chelsie and Mark. They are just awesome in every dance they do no matter what style it is. And they have excellent chemistry, which is crucial to being successful. I also love Kherington and Twitch. They are beautiful apart and together. And they continue to improve each week even though they were awesome to begin with. Katee and Joshua are also in my top three couples. Will is amazing. But his partner Jessica is so blah. Hopefully soon they will get voted into the bottom three couples so that they can give her the heave ho and put him with someone who can match his awesome-ness.

I also am not thrilled but Thayne or Comfort. They are good, but they others are better. So unless they dance amazingly they are going to keep getting thrown into the bottom couples and then will eventually go home. And I won't care. Just like I don't care that Kourtni and Matt went home. After being in the bottom three for many weeks, she proved to be a clod and he was just there. Good dancers but not great. However, the other Courtney, Courtney G, and Gev are not the best of the dancers, but they have amazing chemistry because he is ga-ga for her. They are just great to watch, especially last weeks sexy salsa or whatever that was. The ass grab was hot.

The show gets better and better each week, and I was super excited that each pair did two dances this week. More dancing and less commercials is always a plus. Who will win? No clue. As in last season's finale, Sabra was the underdog to Lacey whose brother, Benji, had won the season before. And she was up against the jumpers Michael and Neil. All four were excellent and any one of them could have won. If the top six is who I want it to be, I have no idea who will win. Will could win it all. But it's too early to tell. What is obvious though, is that if you dance a Mia Michaels routine, Mary will scream. And I will be happy.

Is it wrong to have a thing for Audrina Patridge? I mean how is she not the new Britney Gastineau. Wait I guess she is the new Britney Gastineau, just more famous.

Why do I download Living Lohan every week? I mean sure I end up writing stuff and possibly vomiting during it, but still I totally check it out. Maybe I just like watching a mother live vicariously through her daughters, while her sons rot in a purgatory called unfamous.

Did I really just see the Two Coreys argue if Michael Jackson molested them? Whoa. Say what you will about it being scripted or not, that's some harsh shit to dig up. But, here's the thing, I swear they should've just made this show the Corey Haim Comeback Special. The guy really does have talent and all of his scenes are reality gold.  I'm also glad to see he's got a role in Crank 2 with Jason Statham because if he can stay clean, there is no reason that guy can't be a good character actor in smaller films. And why is it Feldman comes across as a douche on every reality show he's on. I swear his performance on this and Surreal Life has totally made me redefine my opinion on Friday The 13th part 4.

Ok so my notes on soccer, basketball, and hockey and then we'll get to the real blog post. 

So yes, my beloved Pens lost a few weeks ago. They played valiantly, but weren't ready to step up to the next level, quite yet. The team HAS to spend money on defense and their free agents, because they've got a superstar nucleus for the next few years.

Dallas Mavs NBA draft. Damn you Jason Kidd. No new picks for an aging team! How thoughtful of the Nets to demand them as part of the trade?

Ok soccer. Congrats Spain.(Especially my man/Arsenal superstar Cesc Fabregas. And a friend of mine loves Torres so shout out to him even though he plays for the hated Liverpool).

But, the real pain in fact came from the Netherlands playing like a futbol juggernaut in the group stage, with every one of the midfielders looking like glamorous superstars, only to struggle in the Quarter-Finals and look lethargic and defensively inept. Except for Wesley Sneider who has to be made captain after these finals. I though Rafael Van der Vaart would be that player, but it was Madrid's Sneider who showed that he has the heart to lead a club to prominence.

Ok so back to the title of this blog...

This Screen Isn't Big Enough For The Both Of Us!

So I finally saw "The Other Boleyn Girl" yesterday and I will say that despite people having a tendency to slam it, it wasn't that bad. It wasn't great either, but it was certainly better than Marie Antoinette. 

It's shot pretty well, Eric Bana is solid as the king and made me want to go see his work in Troy, and the general plot of "love" and women used as political pieces is an interesting one. In fact this plot could've made for a stellar period piece, but...

The problems arise in one simple fact. There is not enough room for Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson on the same screen. When you see most period pieces you almost always have that one strong and/or beautiful actress(lets say Keira Knightley or Dame Judi Dench) and character players that fill the other maiden roles(say Shirley Henderson, Carey Mulligan, or even the absurdly beautiful Romola Garai.) Now you probably don't recognize those last couple of names, but they have been smaller yet important roles in period pieces. They don't crowd the leading lady's space or try to one up her performance, they are there to support it and make you root for or against the leading heroine or villainess.

And using those parameters, it's easy to see how the film both got made and how it fails. Im sure the producer was like "Holy Crap!!!! We can get Natalie aaaaaaaaaand Scarlett in the main roles? Lets do it." And it does indeed sound like a dream team, like Heat or The Forbidden Kingdom. But, the problem is you really aren't sure who the lead is and having them both as co-lead just blocks any attachment or rooting interest the audience might develop for either character. But, in the acting department, both are solid enough. Scarlett is probably better in the film, but, mad/sad Natalie is definitely a winner. However, I swear that I'm tired of these Natalie period pieces. Can someone PLEASE give her a modern script that lets her use her natural charm. She is one of those actresses that is REALLY good when she's playing a character that's natural and more like herself(i.e. Mr. Magorium's), but not as powerful when she's doing something that has no resemblance to her personality(i.e. this movie. Closer. lots of examples.)

Anyway, I think the theorum of the period piece is simple, character actors alongside, your one or two heavier players.  I'm interested to see if Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley can coexist in this new Dylan Thomas biopic that's coming out, so I can test this theory out.

I deem a big mistake here, is that the DNC, Obama, his supporters, et. al., all think he has the Presidency sown up. I don't mull over it that way. And, he can't win without Hillary.

Hillary still has her delegates and her supporters, many who will not unite. They spill the beans of the Democratic Party being a family, however, its not. Obama made certain that this family split up this year.

I think it would be a BIG misunderstand to vote for Obama. I don't like McCain that well either, however, the lesser of the two evils, this Democrats preference goes to McCain. I hope and pray that Hillary supporters will solder AGAINST OBAMA….he's not in it for the sake of the party, but for himself and his messianic followers.

That demeanour was what got trumped by the silent majority. They didn't get the feeling that this time was different.

They still believed in the close argument that big donors would dictate the pace. I hope they do not feel they can threaten him with respect to money. I mean, they couldn't beat him in the primary. Now that more woman in the street are coming over to donate, they believe holding their precious money will make all the difference? I assumption they understand the meeting to be more symbolic than a literal need for money.

President Clinton said he "never motto a candidate treated so disrespectfully just for running", but I've never seen a losing camp making so many demands. Posted by:.
