^^  I'm really satisfied by the way I did his hair.  I think I may edit the Krad picture.  u.u  I'm not really satisfied witht that.

I haven´t talked about Nabari no Ou for a while, even if it´s getting better and better with every new episode. Things like Yoite and Miharu´s deepening relationship and Raikou´s flamboyant actions are too tempting to not talk about so from now on, you have to bear with weekly episode commentaries of Nabari no Ou. The fact that this series is constantly making me chuckle won´t help me to keep my mouth shut anymore.

What´s happened so far: Koga´s ninja village invited other clans to their village, which is a school. Everyone came because they want Koga´s medicine kinjutsu scroll Daya for their own reasons. One of the teachers, Kannuki, is scheming against the headmaster while student council is trying to save him by using Daya. It requires bodies of young ninjas to work so Koga´s students are targeting school´s visitors. Miharu and co. are lured to basement where student council attacks and knocks them out. After taking serious damage from Shijima, Yoite asks Miharu with tears in his eyes to save him from dying. Of course Miharu responds to this and finally decides to use Shinrabanshou for something, awakening it by doing so.

Yoite and Miharu have gotten awfully close with each other. In a fight, Yoite protects Miharu with everything he have. Outside of battle, Miharu supports him emotionally even when Yoite pretends he doesn´s want that. Before he just blackmailed Miharu to erase his existence and turned down kindness Miharu showed to him. At last in this episode he opens up to Miharu when he makes his plead. Miharu also admits that Yoite´s not just annoying death god and actually wants to know more about him. There´s very nice development in both Yoite and Miharu´s character when you compare this episode to the 6th episode. Back then they were apathetic and in their own worlds. Now they have something to protect and a goal in life. Yoite is desperately clinging to life so his existence can be erased and Miharu is trying to help him to keep his life so he can erase him. In Miharu´s case, he also wants to help Yoite love himself before he´s gone. We still don´t know why Yoite wants his existence to be erased, but despite their means to achieve it, Yoite and Miharu´s goal is the same and their teamwork is excellent.

Btw. Raikou´s lovely so I definitely need to highlight his brightest moments. This week he blackmails Koga´s student with tickling.

Okay, maybe not. I'm just making a fuss. So anyways, I was watching Monokuro and the realization hit me. Both figuratively and literally (I should stop keeping manga in strange places, my room's raining them). So anyways, I just went "Is it me? Or are men in anime starting to lose interest in women?" Well, at the very least, all male characters (with the exception of Toudou maybe) in Geass have already lost interest in the opposite sex. Just look at Lulu! He just lost Shirley and they let Orange-kun in. What's his harem now? 3 women, 5 men? Or are there more I'm just forgetting? Not to mention Shirley's death is going to be cause of the Black Knight's downfall with Lulu going all mental and losing what little sanity he had left. Although, Suzaku isn't any better. Kallen's looking good in that dress at least but let's pray she doesn't mental too after taking the drug. It's GSD all over again. Come on Sunrise! You can do better than that right - Oh crap, right this wasn't a Geass post.

I mean just look at Monokuro. There are girls in them but their basically decorations. Nabari? Not a single male character in there looks like they have potential interest in females. Kumohira-sensei doesn't count because has a wife and is only interested in her ... and other than her there's Miharu. Oh wait! There's hope. We've still got Macross! Alto's straight right? As long as Sunrise stays away from them, we'll get a normal ending with either Sheryl or Ranka. God knows how much I don't want to see a AltoxLuca or MikhailxAlto ending ... out of doujins at least. And oh look! More hope. Toki in Amatsuki potentially likes Kuchiha right?

Alright ... maybe this isn't so hopeless after all. Back to Balett Star.

15 Episodes Watched

Looking at the watching schedule of the past week it is pretty obvious what I was focused on: Kure-nai and Zero no Tsukaima II, taking 11 of those 15 episodes. Kure-nai was finished up and what a show that was. Other than a few animation hiccups and a subpar episode it really surprised me. Zero no Tsukaima II was the same old show. More fighting between Saito and Louise. I have one episode left in that series which will probably be watched tonight. I failed to finish the series before season 3 came out on the 6th. Oh well, it will be pretty damn easy to catch up on that one. Ergo Proxy seems to be setting itself up for an exciting finish, which is good since the show really put me off in the middle. I was going one episode a night for the first 13, and it's taken me a few weeks just to get the next 5 down. To-LOVE-Ru took a bit of a nosedive this week for me: probably due to the fact that I'm not a Haruna fan. I also feel like the show would be more enjoyable if it stuck to the manga (yeah yeah, "get over it, it's the anime not the manga you fag!"). Nabari no Ou also has gone in the wrong direction for me. I really wish Yoite would die so that the skin crawling manlove in the show would stop.

9 Chapters Read

Kind of a slow manga week for me. Hayate no Gotoku! took most of the chapters here with Volume 6 coming to an end. This also wrapped up the Butler Training chapters as far as I can tell. There were some good moments, mostly consisting of Nishizawa and Hinagiku. I also have a soft spot for Hayate vs. some big robot. To-LOVE-Ru had a couple chapters as well, which get a thumbs up from me. Again, I have to play favorites and say chapter 107 is pure awesome since it focuses on Yui and gets a pinch of Yami as well.

For the last few episode, all I have been seeing is some kind of boy love between Miharu and Yoite. And as far as I know, I ain't a fan of yaoi.

One of the few characters I really liked in this anime because of his shady and cheerful personality (serious when at work, can kill without hesitation but still on the "good guys" side) , Aizawa, has been killed. Damn. And he died in a very pathetic way. He was shot while the the guy with nothing really special, very stupid, most hatable "good guy" character Thobari was preventing him from killing the enemy. Even Jesus won't be that naive.

At last! The Shinrabanshou has been activated. And now, it has lighting and some nice Dragon Ball Z like effects. Hopefully, this could be the start of something exciting.

Thank God, no bitchin' and rantin' for this post. This episode transcends the previous few episodes, and leaves me eager for the next one.

Because I can't really explain the intensity of this episode...

You'll have to watch it. I'll keep this short with picture style.

This little girl gives me the creeps. Who the hell has cat eyes? That's just way too freaky.

In one heart-wrenching scene, Yoite opens up to Miharu. Disregarding all previous statements about not fearing death, Yoite tells Miharu the truth. Almost killed me to see Yoite crying, because he hasn't been giving off this aura in previous episodes. Which leads me to say that in a way, this is a good thing. It means a dramatic difference in Yoite's character development.

But I haven't forgotten Kouichi, Kumohira-sensei, Yukimi, or Raikou. That little scene where Kouichi beats up Kannaki-sensei was thrilling to watch. [According to Freudian theory, this is where my id surfaces.] Throughout the short-lived scene, I was wondering how many more kicks and punches Kouichi could throw in... before Kumohira-sensei stepped in.

This is the result of Tobari's actions. Kouichi's right in giving advice to Tobari before he dies: "Unless you kill, you can't protect anyone close to you." I love Tobari to death, but gods, like I've been stressing way before this episode, this man has to get his shit together.

Other Thoughts

I'm guessing the directors want Nabari no Ou to be a shounen-ai series. Notice the Kouichi x Tobari pairing above? Kidding. But in all seriousness, it's like the directors are taking the whole Miharu and Yoite relationship and running amok with it... If you want to know more on what kind of stance I take, visit GAR GAR Stegosaurus, because I agree with everything A Day Without Me has said. Besides, you can get a good episodic summary there.

Which makes me conclude. I'm really excited for next week! Does Miharu take on the yandere-ish personality? I hope so. Unleash the power.

On a completely different note, the Nabari no Ou OST was released today. While it isn't as good as other OSTs, I think it has some good pieces, like the Main Theme. (Piece that played in the very first episode when Tobari swears his loyalty to Miharu.)

NOM NOM NOM, or Shijima's a frickin' creep? You decide.

The episode picks up immediately where the previous left off, with Raikou and Yukimi cautiously making their way through the school, and in the process running into Kouichi and Kumohira. Yukimi admits, a bit increduously, to himself that he hadn't been able to detect Kouichi's presence at all prior to rounding the corner. Suddenly, the entire building shudders, and they realize that the others have gone underground.

Underneath the dorm, Yoite is squaring off against the seitokai. Catalina grabs Miharu, but is stopped by Yoite when he uses the kira technique. Yoite gets Miharu back, and the two try to retreat, but Shijima leaps in front of them, and attacks Yoite with her metal claw-attachments. Yoite is injured, but Miharu manages to create enough of a diversion for the pair to escape.

Up above, Yukimi and Kumohira have come to the door to the cellar, but it has been locked since Catalina tackled Miharu down it. As Yukimi beats at the door, Kumohira asks him if Miharu is really with the Kairoushuu, but Yukimi is a bit evasive, stating that being too soft is a bad thing. He stops trying to open the door for a moment to smirk and tell Kumohira that, if someone halved their personalities and put together their two halves, they'd both probably be a better person.

In another part of the cellar from all the fighting, Miharu sits with the injured Yoite inside a broken cabinet. Miharu is very worried about Yoite, but Yoite reminds him that he promised to not die before Miharu could use the Shinrabanshou. Miharu admits that his alternate plan was to simply use the Shinrabanshou even if they could not get the kinjutsu scrolls, and tells Yoite about how the Shinrabanshou appears to him. Yoite is surprised to hear that the Shinrabanshou is apparently a being in and of itself; Miharu is somewhat surprised to realize that Shijima looks like the Shinrabanshou. Unfortunately, Shijima herself appears to crash the party.

Elsewhere, Raimei and Juuji are still trying to convince Subaru of the fact that they were attacked by the other students, not the other way around. But Subaru doesn't care, and when Catalina appears, the two are shot by tiny darts. Juuji instantly loses consciousness, but Raimei remains conscious long enough to hear Catalina refer to them as "important ingredients".

Shijima seems to have both Miharu and Yoite cornered, as the kira doesn't seem to have much of an affect on her. To Miharu's shock, she states that she knows that Yoite wants Miharu to use the Shinrabanshou to grant his wish, and accuses Yoite of being afraid of death. After managing to get Miharu away from Shijima, Yoite is stabbed in the back by Catalina, who says that it's ok for them if he just dies, as his body is useless for their purposes. Although he is suffering, Yoite blasts some power at the ceiling, creating enough chaos for he and Miharu to once again escape the deadly seitokai.

In the dorm, two Kouga students discuss whether or not they should attack Yukimi, et al. or not, since they haven't seen the seitokai at all, even though Kannukki told them that they were the ones who approved the attacks. When Yukimi, et al. confront them, though, they retreat before the group can manage to extract any information from them. Kouichi, unseen to this point, apologizes off-screen, and the group turns to find him being held at gunpoint by the Queen Emeraldas escapee Kannukki, who tells them to drop their weapons.

Yoite, severely weakened, is being helped to walk by Miharu. After setting him on the floor, Miharu unbuttons his jacket to treat his wounds, and is disturbed by the sheer amount of bleeding Yoite has done. Yoite finally admits to Miharu that he does not want to die, and Miharu embraces the other boy, and tells him that they are just the same. Internally, he ambiguously states to himself that he understands the feelings he has for Yoite finally, but that he will keep them to himself.

Miharu tries to summon the Shinrabanshou, shouting out to it/her, and becoming quickly frustrated when he is met with only silence. From the shadows, Shijima throws a knife at Miharu, who is knocked out by the potion on the knife's tip.

Back with Yukimi, Raikou, Kumohira, Kouichi, and now Kannukki, Kannukki reveals that the Daya requires that young ninjas are used to help prepare the medicine, specifically, their bodies. He wants to use the Daya to change the world, but also to line his own pockets, and to bring Alya Private Academy to more prominence and wealth. He also reveals that the seitokai also plans to make the Daya, although in their case, it is for the dying headmaster.

As this is occurring, the seitokai themselves stand over the unconscious Raimei, Juuji, Yoite, and Miharu, wondering where the kinjutsu is. It becomes apparent that they knew about what Kannukki was doing, but ignored it since they figure they can steal the kinjutsu from him once he uses his hostages to get it out of the headmaster. Catalina voices a bit of doubt, though, recalling that the headmaster doesn't want the kinjutsu to be used. However, Subaru ignores her, and begins to leave to look for the kinjutsu; Catalina follows despite her doubts. Shijima lingers briefly, looking down at Miharu as she wonders if wanting to protect one special thing is what motivates human's actions.

Kannukki is about the descend the stairs with Kouichi, but Yukimi throws an exploding pen which temporaily blinds the man. Once free, Kouichi viciously attacks the man, while Yukimi and Raikou dash down the stairs. Kumohira is horrified by Kouichi's relentless attack, even as Kannukki asks him to hold up for a moment, and stops Kouichi. Kouichi argues with Kumohira, and ends up being shot from behind by Kannukki. Kouichi falls against Kumohira, and makes it very clear that he blames him for the fact that he has been shot. As he loses consciousness and hits the floor, he reveals that he knew Kumohira had planned to kill Miharu, and that, unless he can kill, he cannot protect.

As Kouichi lies bleeding on the floor, the building begins to violently shake. Below, Miharu is standing, surrounded by green lightning as the Shinranabshou's script creeps up his neck and across his face.

Impressions:

This is probably the best Nabari no Ou episode so far. For those complaining of lack of action, this surely answers the call. Not only do we get action, though, we get a lot of character development, too, particularly in the case of Miharu.

Shijima is extremely creepy, and I really doubt she's human, based on her thoughts toward the end of the episode, and how she behaves in battle. I didn't mention it, but she bites Yoite's knee at one point while they're fighting. She also is shown as have extra-sharp canines at several points. This combined with her use of claws, and her seemingly luminscent eyes has me wondering if... well... is she Miharu's cat? I know that sounds crazy, but they both have white hair and golden eyes, and, well, she acts like a cat... There's also the question of what dropped behind her after Yoite used the kira (which unfortunately, I cannot find a screenshot for at the moment). I thought that was Yoite's arm behind her at first, but if you watch the scene, it very clearly isn't, so... tail anyone? But I'm probably just talking out of my ass.

Also, I really reallly have been trying to not see BL in these proceedings (although, obviously from my other episode posts, I have seen it), but... well, I dunno, guys, but I'm pretty sure straight guys don't tend to hold their friends faces like this:

And that straight guys who get their faces held like that don't respond by grasping the guy's hand and nuzzling into it with his face. I can't claim to be a straight guy myself, so I can't say that for sure, but, yeah, just a hunch I get.

But, in all seriousness, Miharu's internal monologue about his feelings about Yoite was very, very ambiguous, and I can't help but wonder. I'M NOT TRYING TO SEE THIS GUYS, BUT IT'S TRYING TO MAKE ME SEE IT THIS WAY. I'll admit to being a bit of a fujoshi, but I try to keep it within sane realms, so I wouldn't be mentioning this unless it seemed to me that the show was actually encouraging this angle (so, you don't have to worry about me sitting here and picking out tissue-thin "evidence" for BL in, say, Bleach).

Anyway, I doubt Kouichi's dead even though it sort of looks like he is. We still haven't learned his secret, and I doon't think they'll kill him off before we figure out what it is, as they wouldn't bother have mentioned it before and then reinforced it with his seemingly cooly efficient dispatching of Eugene Frosty, and his attack on Kannukki here.

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but for the first time since Soul Society Arc era Bleach, I've found myself seriously impatient with the seemingly slow march of time from episode of an anime being broadcast in Japan. I don't know what I'm going to do next week, since I'll be on vacation sans internet...

I had to color this picture...twice. I would have to admit...the first attempt was better, but my computer corrupted and closed the program. I was an idiot for not saving...at ALL.

Then, I colored it again, but at least I got the shadowing done right. XD3 The other one was better, but it didn't make any sense.

Then I made something for my LJ profile page...just a little joke I found from the web ;D

And we've hit the halfway mark.

The episodes opens with the Kouga ninja, three of whom are attending to the ailing headmaster of the front-world academy, Alya Private Academy. He is worried about the future of both the academy and his clan, but the three girls, apparently all student council members, tell him to not worry so much and leave it to them to be concerned about it all. At the end of the scene, after they have left, a cat's shadow appears on the floor.

In Banten, the Banten group, along with Juuji, prepare to leave for Kouga. Hanabusa is also leaving, although she is off to work on the fossils dug up at her last dig. She assures Kumohira that Yoite and Miharu will be back sometime after telling him to look after them; Kumohira had reacted evasively when she had told him to keep an eye on them. She kisses Kumohira before departing, leaving him embarassed in front of the others. As they walk along, Kouichi mentions the reason that the Kouga have invited them (the future of Nabari), and Kumohira talks about the kinjitsu scroll, the Daya, and how he plans to get it. Raimei is deep in thought about the scroll, and repeats 'kinjutsu scroll' after Kumohira, but manages to convince Kumohira that she said something about getting him on the train ('shinkansen').

The Kairoushuu car is getting pulled out of the water as Yukimi informs the group that they are on stand-by until another car can be had. Yukimi also warns Miharu to not reveal that he has the Shinrabanshou, and Raikou asks Miharu if he knows much about the Daya. Miharu has read about it, and we learn that it enables one to make a cure-all medicine... or a deadly poison, depending on how it is used. Raikou also says that it is rumored to be able to help a kira user, which piques Miharu's interest. But Miharu asks Raikou if he is doing it for Gau. Raikou says that he is, but that it depends upon whether Gau wants it or not. Raikou also states that Yoite seems to be very important to Miharu.

Suddenly the group is approached by a young, white-haired girl, who reveals herself to be a Kouga ninja from Alya Academy. She brings them to the academy, and Yukimi rattles on about the school itself. The girl, Kurookano Shijima, states that most of the students don't realize there are any ninjas there, as the ninjas are part of special classes. Shijima becomes irritated when Yukimi keeps looking around as they walk, although Yukimi defends with the fact that, in the front world, he is a writer, so he naturally does such things.

The group enters a special building for the ninja, and overhear a group of teachers and administrators discussing the headmaster in unkind terms. When they step into the main hall, all the Kouga ninja students are there, staring down at them from above on the second floor walkway. It is quite clear that the students are not happy with the presence of outsiders on their campus and in their dorm. Katarina, one of the earlier student council members, says something about Shijima's bringing of the group in without telling anyone, but is told by Subaru, the third girl from earlier, that "all the preparations are in place".

Shijima shows the group to their rooms, and leaves them. Yoite tries to go off to get the kinjutsu, but is stopped by Yukimi, although he goes off sulkily anyway. Yukimi opens the window to get some fresh air, and discovers Kumohira doing the same from the next-door window. Both quickly retreat into their rooms, Yukimi remarking that it'll be getting more interesting while Kumohira grouses that it's going to be more difficult now. Both Raikou and Kouichi misinterpret their behavior and tell them that the bathroom is down the hall.

Later, both the Kairoushuu group and the Banten group are in a meeting with the Kouga student council (from now on, seitokai, as it is faster to type). Kumohira yells at Miharu and is forcibly removed by Kouga ninja at the close of the meeting. Afterwards, the student council goes to see the headmaster, but while they are assuring him, the assistant headmaster, Kannuki, bursts in to harass the headmaster about declaring a successor. The seitokai calls him out on his behavior, as he is the natural successor himself, and they suspect less than illustrious motives - he wants the Daya, specifically. But the clash is cut off when Shijima notices that both Raikou and Yukimi are listening in from right outside the window. After they both jump down, Shijima tosses them a campus map, and Subaru warns them not to take them too lightly.

Back with the Banten, Kouichi supposes that Yoite is probably also around although he did not attend the meeting. Juuji reveals that she is still really shocked by Miharu's apparent betrayal. She questions Kumohira after he comes in the room, but Kumohira admits to not knowing what Miharu is planning. He also states that the Kouga have refused to answer any questions until the next day. Kouichi advises that they themselves speak to Miharu, and says that if it comes to a fight, then so be it, surprising everyone with his bluntness.

Yukimi and Raikou discuss the disputes amongst the Kouga in their room, noting that the teachers and the students seem to be in disagreement. Miharu goes to check on Yoite, who is looking out into the night in the next room with the lights off. He wraps a scarf around Yoite's neck, saying that Hanabusa sent it along, despite Yoite's attempts to shake it off. He also remarks a bit conversationally about how dark it gets when night comes to Alya, and Yoite replies that he likes how the night swallows things up, that he wishes it would do the same to his existence. Miharu says nothing.

After going to bed, some of the Kouga students attack both groups. Yukimi fights one, and fires, but it is shown that he fires the gun next to the boy's head so that the bullets simply go past, and he says that that is enough, since the ninja is still just a kid. He and Raikou check next door - Miharu and Yoite are missing, but their would-be assailants are unconscious on the floor. In the hall, they are attacked again, and Subaru appears, misunderstanding the situation.

Elsewhere, Miharu stops Yoite from using the kira on one of the Kouga students. Raimei strikes him down with her sheathed sword, and Juuji threatens him further, as Raimei demands to know who ordered the attack. The boy reveals that it was Kannuki. When Miharu speaks up, Raimei rushes over to greet him, although Juuji gives him a dark look. As they are speaking, Shijima appears, wanting to know what the ruckus is all about. So do Subaru and Katarina, and the seitokai all assume that they have attacked the student assailants in a quest for the Daya. A fight breaks out.

The group tries to escape, but the seitokai keeps engaging them in combat. Miharu finds a stairway and shouts for everyone; however, Katarina tackles him, and they both fall down the stairs. Anyway, I mentioned the cat shadow, although it seems minor, because I've been suspicious of Miharu's cat (of all people!) for a while now. That cat is always around - hell, it even shows up in the OP! And it just catches my attention for whatever reason. So that cat shadow really has me wondering, since they certainly wouldn't bother with such a detail unless is mattered somehow.

Still waiting for some more back-story of Kouichi - we still haven't found out what Yae saw in his mind.

I really like the Kouga seitokai. I like the individuals themselves, and I find their variety to be pleasing, given that anime usually lacks such variety in characters physical appearance-wise. Katarina appears to be African or African-American in descent, which is reflected in not just skintone but overall body type and facial features, all of which I just find very cool since anime fails to do so usually in the few times Afro-whichever characters appear. Shijima is the young-looking one (I hesitate to call her 'loli' since, although she looks younger than the rest, since she doesn't really cater to any fetishes), with a seriously weird posture and an average body-type outside of her short stature. Subaru on the other hand is tall and thin. I can't pinpoint exactly why I find this mix so thrilling, but I do.

To our BL crowd, the Miharu and Yoite scarf scene, along with Miharu's earlier talk with Raikou (Raikou: "It seems like you two are more than friends.") should make you happy, with Raikou's sentiments toward Gau as a little added extra. I'm still not willing to commit on the Yoite and Miharu thing, although I think i made it very clear what i think of Raikou and Gau.

On a silly note, I'm bummed that Raimei finally changed her school uniform - I really liked the one from her school in Tokyo! Oh well.

Does that cat show up in the beginning of every episode? Perhaps not every episode, but I've noticed that white cat around a lot.

A Little Summary

Both Banten and Kairoushuu ninjas have been invited to a meeting hosted by the Kouga ninjas. The meeting is on how to improve the future of Nabari, but all three groups know this meeting is merely a ruse, and the real objective is Kouga's Kinjitsu scroll, Daya.

When they arrive at Kouga's headquarters, a university, both Banten and Kairoushuu realize the situation is a little more complicated that they think. Apparently the current head of Kouga is bedridden with an incurable sickness, and the lower authorities are fighting over his position. Kannaki-sensei, one of the lower authorities wanting the position, manipulates the Kouga ninjas against the Banten and Kairoushuu ninjas.

But that's not the Real Point. My Thoughts.

Realize that for a better summary, you can run over to Random Curiosity. Anyways, although I do not have as many qualms about this episode as I had last episode (where I blew up and ranted the whole post), Nabari is still as slow as ever. While I was watching, I found myself wanting to skip over the slow parts. Fortunately, there was some action towards the end of the episode.

There's only one person who interests me this episode - the white haired girl from Kouga. Miharu drops an OBVIOUS hint, saying that she looks incredibly familiar. Once again, I could be wrong, but does she remind you of a certain girl who always appears with Miharu's Shinrabanshou? Take a look.

I could be jumping to conclusions, but I'm thinking there is the possibility that they could be the same girl. Not sure.

And a look on Relationships.

Because nothing more than the girl gives me interest, and I ranted all I could last episode, I'll look more into the relationships offered in Nabari no Ou.

Hana and Thobari

This relationship is nothing new, we've seen them kissing in the ending. It still surprised me, however, when they kissed this episode. I'm still wondering what Hana has to do with the world of Nabari, and how she'll be a useful character in this series. Then again, she seems to be some sort of mother character for Miharu and Yoite. Call it an instinct, but I think by the last few episodes, we'll be seeing her more often. (Man, a blushing Thobari is cute.)

Yukimi and Thobari

As a Fujoshi, I know what you might have been thinking. And no, please, I don't mean that kind of relationship. I'm talking about the parallelism between Yukimi and Thobari. Outside of the world of Nabari, I think they would be great friends.

Yukimi and Thobari are both important. And as the heads of the little groups they lead, I see many similarities between the two. They both have the same characteristic of wanting to protect those in their group. Although Yukimi shows a gruff exterior, in reality, he cares. He also offers some really good advice.

Although their relationship might not be something important right now, I think Yukimi's character offers a balance to Thobari's. Yukimi knows what he believes in, and is ready to take whatever action he believes is right. On the other hand, Thobari haves trouble coming to terms with what he believes in, and has a hard time acting upon what he wants to happen. In other words, I think these two are like yin and yang: in being opposite themselves, they bring unity to the series.

Yoite and Miharu

What Raikou says: These two seem more than friends. ... That's probably because of the awesome buttsecks.

Okujou Miharu es un estudiante de instituto que vive en su propio mundo. Sin embargo, dentro de él, estaba al acecho el último poder de Nabari,la “Omnipotencia”. Miharu heads off by himself to find Yoite, his grandmother commenting on how much he's changed as he goes.

Miharu is, however, traveling under the premise of going to see Raimei, who is now out of the hospital and is staying in a hotel owned by a Fuuma ninja. She offers to let Miharu stay with her, but he turns her down, and she realizes that he intends to go see Yoite. Miharu also reveals his intent to join the Kairoushuu, and Raimei says that she'll support him as long as he is doing so just to help Yoite. She also states that she believes it is ok to use the Shinrabanshou to help someone out. Before parting ways, Miharu asks Raimei to get the Banten scroll, to which she agrees.

While walking by himself, Miharu supposes that if he did not exist, those around him would be happier as they would not be in contact with the Shinrabanshou. Shortly thereafter, Miharu runs into Yoite, who is hiding in an alleyway. They go to a park, and Miharu tries to comfort Yoite when he appears to shiver. Yoite is, as usual, irritated at the attempt at contact. Miharu tells Yoite that he has to promise him two things - first, that he release his friends from the kira technique, and second, that he survive until Miharu can use the Shinrabanshou.

Afterward, Yukimi comes along in a car and gives the pair a ride to the library. Here, Miharu runs into Kato, the seemingly clumsy ninja from the kill Mr. Frosty arc, who recognizes him and asks him if he needs help. Miharu says that he wants to read Kotarou's book, but Kato quickly realizes that he wants to see the Fuuma scroll. He lets Miharu take it, telling him to return it when he's done reading it, but Kotarou appears after his departure, and we learn that he knows exactly what is going on, and that it is as he has planned.

Miharu meets the Kairoushuu and gives them the Fuuma scroll as a sign of his loyalty to joining them.

Back in Banten, Kouichi asks Kumohira if it is a good idea to not go looking for Miharu. But Kumohira tells him that Miharu is probably meeting with Yoite. Kotarou makes an appearance, along with an invitation from the Kouga ninja for both Kouichi and Kumohira.

Miharu is preparing food for the Kairoshuu, and Yukimi makes a fuss over how good he thinks the food is; he has had a bit too much to drink. Hattori questions Miharu about why he has decided to come to the Kairoushuu, but Yoite steps in immediately, smacking away the hand that Hattori had extended. Everyone reacts with shock, but Hattori does nothing about it, and Miharu tells him that he thinks that the Kairoushuu have more in common with his way of thinking about the Shinrabanshou, since the Banten ninja don't want him to use it.

Yukimi begins to rave a bit in his drunken state, mocking Kumohira for not being able to kill even though he is a ninja. When Miharu says something about what he's done as only being him running away, Yukimi makes a remark about suicide being a real manner of running away, and Yoite is visibly upset. Amatasu, Yukimi's elder sister, scolds him for drinking too much, before the group realizes that Yoite is crying. Yoite quickly leaves the room, and Miharu follows. Miharu catches up with him, and Yoite admits that he cannot taste anything any more; that, truly, his senses are beginning to feel, but even with that and his success at killing his feelings about killing others, he still sometimes cries and he dislike this. Miharu attempts to touch him, stating that he'll catch a cold out in the night, but Yoite smacks his hand away, and tells Miharu that he's wrong to think that he followed because of wanting to save Yoite, that he only wants to save his friends.

Hattori is off in his car once again, and the blind lady (don't know her name!) remarks that Yoite isn't long for this world. Hattori says that that is why he lets him do as he wishes, even though the blind lady suggests that Yoite should behave better since Hattori is the one who saved him.

Miharu and Yoite are sitting at opposite ends of a bench, not facing each other, still outside. Miharu is thinking to himself, and admits that he originally agreed to help Yoite because of his friends... but that now it's different, although he doesn't know why.

The next day, Miharu is brought shopping for a school uniform by Yukimi and Raikou. Raikou looks at ugly suit coats despite the best attempts of the sales staff, and Yoite sulks in the corner. Miharu expresses confusion at needing a school uniform, and is told it is necessary for his trial at the Kouga ninja school. The invitation from before was about some open slots for students, and the Kairoushuu also received one.

Back in the car, Raikou inists on driving... and they immediately crash into a ditch.

Impressions:

Fairly calm episode, and seemingly uneventful, but the development in Miharu and Yoite's relationship seems significant (don't worry, I don't mean it in a BL-ish manner...). Also worth noting is that Raimei truly is just in favor of supporting Miharu, and thus isn't exactly an ally of Kumohira's, although she does care about both Miharu and Kumohira. So long as Miharu doesn't plan to take over the world or hurt people, she'll support his decisions.

I liked that the bench scene shot was almost exactly the same as the bench shot in the ending, the only difference being the incense burner. The animation was, as usual, pretty good, although we got some more artistry than usual. This shot in particular was impressive:

Damn, that's good.

And not exactly related to the episode, but it's funny how this show has ended up being my most-anticipated week to week. The last time I felt such urgency for the next week's episode was probably with Bleach before the Soul Society arc ended (although I probably would've felt that way about Kanon had I not started watching it after about twenty episodes had aired...). I really love this show, and I'm dying for the domestic manga release.

Raikou's (from Nabari no Ou) has the best fashion sense ever, i don't care what you people say. I just love that hat.
