JD Feighner to appear at South Park Music Tour, Saturday, June 28th, Patio, 3-4:30PM. Y'all come on out!

"By Emily H. Lanigan

www.southparkmusictour.com

Dates: June 26-29
Location: Fairplay, CO

The South Park Music Tour is the highest festival in the country, according to its promoters, and that’s not just a nod to the fact that Fairplay is just under 10,000 feet in elevation. Hell, even the zip code ends in 420.
But beyond that, the South Park Music Tour is a gem for discovering bands and the lineup is made up predominantly of emerging artists. If each week you look at the local calendar and wonder who a lot of the local bands are, this is the festival to check out. Lots of Colorado bands play the festival and the ones who aren’t local regularly tour the region.

TRAVEL TIME:
(As calculated by mapquest.com from Denver, Colo. to Fairplay, Colo.)

Total Est. Time: 1 hour, 35 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 85.95 miles

YOU NEED TO KNOW: The old saying in Fairplay is “Come on vacation, leave on probation.” So, if you must break the law while in Fairplay, be very, very discreet about it."

Activision has given final confirmation to rumors that Guitar Hero 4 will feature multiple wireless

Activision has given final confirmation to rumors that Guitar Hero 4 will feature multiple wireless peripherals and music-composing program all due this autumn.

As GameSpot, summarises:
"The new game will be called Guitar Hero World Tour, and will feature a microphone and a "genuine" electronic drum kit, along with a redesigned guitar peripheral.

Activision also boasts that Guitar Hero World Tour will have "the biggest on-disc selection" of music, and that all of the tunes available to take on will be master tracks. So far, no particular songs have been named, but the company has promised that offerings from artists Van Halen, Linkin Park, Sublime, and the Eagles will be included.

Localised content will also be available to download on all of the next-generation consoles--including the Wii. Of the three instruments, Activision is particularly touting its drum kit, which will have three drum pads, two raised cymbals, and a bass kick pedal. Apparently, it will have "velocity-sensitive drum heads with soft rubber construction to deliver authentic bounce back."

There will also be a new Battle of the Bands gameplay mode, in which eight players (two bands of four players each) will be able to play each other to see who's best. In the Band modes, four players can jam locally or online.

Also included will be Music Studio, a music-creation software suite with which wannabe songwriters can create digital music "from scratch." Those budding artists will then be able to share their recordings with chums online via GHTunes.

Rock Band, Harmonix's rhythm game, also features microphone and drum peripherals, and is due out in Europe tomorrow for the Xbox 360 only--other platforms will be released later this summer. Unlike Rock Band, all three peripherals in the latest Guitar Hero game will be wireless.

Guitar Hero World Tour is being developed by Neversoft for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Wii version will be coming from Vicarious Visions, and the PlayStation 2 version from Budcat. All four versions are slated for release this autumn, although they have not yet been rated, and there are no pricing details."

If you’ve checked out our auditions lately then you may have noticed that there are several musicals seeking talented men and women to join their casts! Theatrical classics like Show Boat and Hair and two original musical films are just a few of the posts perfect for Elite Casting Network members who are great at both acting and singing!

Here’s a checklist that you can use to eliminate song choices so that you don’t make the costly mistake of picking the wrong song for your musical theatre audition.

So, JD had this two-day gig in Mammoth last weekend and decided it is "so dorky, it's cool" to take Mom along....... and also gave her free rein to write the blog on this gig. So, ta! da! Everyone....JD's Mom!

"JD flew into San Diego where I picked him up and we headed up the I-15. As we got closer to Mammoth, we were engulfed in a raging snowstorm with winds gusting up to 50 mph. It was difficult to drive; and, whenever we had a white-out situation, we would just stop the car until it blew by. Eventually, JD had to lay down in the snow to put the tire chains on--I would have taken pictures of that scene, but that would have meant that I'd have to be out in the snowstorm, too. BBBRRR!

We did finally arrive safely Thursday evening. JD was 'stoked' about the fresh snow since he hoped to get in some skiing while on the mountain.

The Mammoth Mountain Inn was great. As JD said later, 'They really know how to take care of their talent.' JD had a nice upper floor room with a loft. He could have had quite a party in there. Hmmmm.........good thing I came along! No, seriously, the Inn is a great family hotel and we were treated very nicely by everyone there (besides which, MY son does not PARTY--Tee!Hee!).

Anyway, JD went skiing for a few hours both Friday and Saturday. Conditions weren't perfect, but the snow was beautiful and he enjoyed the exercise.

When it came time for him to play, JD was able to use his sound engineering skills to tune up the PA system which was brand-new and needed a little bit of tweaking. Once on stage, JD was friendly and relaxed with the audience who enjoyed speaking with him between numbers. All ages loved the music and seemed to appreciate his original work the most. People came for a drink but loved the music and stayed for dinner to continue listening.

The guy who booked JD into this venue heard three songs and said, 'Perfect! Great voice! I'd like you to come back soon!' A number of people also came up to me and told me that they had enjoyed the show. Of course, I was very proud and enjoyed listening to JD, too (as I always do). I took plenty of pictures (I know you are saying, 'No kidding!'). This was such a special and relaxing time spent with my son.

When JD's gig was over on Saturday night, we departed, just as we had arrived, in a blinding snow storm. The mid Sierras were expecting 30" of new snow and JD was due back in Colorado on Monday. So, we departed at night and into another storm arriving in San Diego at 1:30 Sunday morning.

It was great to be able to spend time with JD and actually have time to talk about where he is in his career and where he wants to go with it. I can't wait to see him achieve some of these goals. And.......I can't wait until the next time he wants to be "dorky..cool" and lets me tag along again. Thanks to all of you for letting me chime in. Signing off, JD's MOM"

I think we’ve all noticed that artists have been getting pushed out of NYC for a while now. As the music business is undergoing serious transformations many NYC music studio’s have been shutting down, paying the rent is getting harder and harder. In Red House’s case, they didn’t have much of a choice- they got kicked out of their space so a high rise luxury condo could be built, like we need more of those in lower Manhattan?

Red House was a very funky creative music studio, filled with professional producers who’ve worked with the likes of Wyclef Jean, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, the Beach Boys among many others. I was working on my album there for the past year and a half with producer Ray Cervenka, and am in LA right now at his new studio finishing up my album. I took some photo’s of the studio during my last session with Ray at Red House, Peep the pics.

Red house is the blue building, can’t fake the funk

Someone was always playing ping-pong in the main space, there was also a pool table and NYC taxi cab door

there were so many boards laying around, it was crazy. The knobs look like soldiers ready 4 battle

How embarrassing!

There are lots of ways to find out if you’re really cut out to be a singer, without having to endure the criticism of reality show judges or record industry executives. It’s a competitive industry so you really want to make sure that you can hold your own against the thousands of singers who, like you, are determined to find their place in the music business.

As cheesy as it sounds, karaoke is a great way to test your chops. It’s a great opportunity to practice your skills as well as get feedback from an audience. Sometimes while our friends and family may enjoy our singing, the rest of the world may not be as impressed. Karaoke is a great way to find out if you have mainstream, wide appeal. And if you do then it’s a great indication that you probably have a shot at impressing record industry professionals.

A great voice teacher can not only tell you if you have the talent, but he or she can also help you utilize it more effectively. Did you know that many Grammy award winning singers have had voice lessons? Even after they were signed and recording music? Voice teachers can help you develop the talent you already have and make you an even better singer.
