I first heard of the song "Uh Oh" performed by the band Taken by Cars and I instantly fell in love with it.  At this day and age when the likes of Gretchen Barretto, Boy Abunda, Kim Chiu, and Marian Rivera make a travesty of the music industry by releasing their respective "gold" albums (that were probably bought by a few fans by the bulk, just like this one guy I know who's head over heels over La Greta), new artists like Taken by Cars has assured me that there is still hope in Philippine music.

If you are into electronic rock and techno music, you'll gonna love it... I guaradamntee it!

Bulgaria's "Music Idol" will go down to history as having one of the wackiest audition rejects...EVER.

I don't wanna spoil the fun by explaining what the performance was about, but you have to watch it.  You HAVE to watch it... after the jump!

Call me old school, but I adore Hikki even from her R&B days. However, it's only recently that I realize her potential as a multi-genre artist. In "Exodus", my favorite track would be "Hotel Lobby".

I saw this cool song over at MTV once and the title skipped my mind, but I could remember the band's name sounds "Piolo-ish" if you know what I mean. ;)

"Love Me Butch" is a Malaysian hardcore/ screamo band.  Their recent album "This is the New Pop" has been promoted extensively over Asia, including the beautiful cesspool called Da Philippines.  While in Manila, they performed on MTV Music Summit 2006 and Pulp Summerslam 7.

The band recently released their collaboration with local emo rock band Chicosci entitled "This is Our Year" (you should hear in on their MySpace page, really good) .

In the meantime, here's their video of "Hollywood Holiday" (and judging from the video, and how similar it is from our local overly-CG rock videos, it looks like it was shot here).

I watched "Enchanted" last weekend and it really exceeded my expectations.  I was laughing in the cinema together with awe-struck children and equally-happy parents.

If Amy Adams won't get a Best Actress nomination in any awards next year, that would be really frustrating.

One of its highlights is the song "That's How You Know", which was shot in New York's Central Park.

My liking for Kjwan (pronounced as "Kwan") is a slow and steady love, and it's Marc Abaya's fault. He performs with such sensuality that he's like stripping his very soul slowly in front of you.

The band will represent the Philippines (along with Miss Vina Morales, thanks for the reminder Himalayan Goddess) in this Sunday's Ikon Asean Competition, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur. They will battle it out against Malaysia's OAG and Indonesia's Tahta, both tough competitors if you ask me. Best of luck to Kjwan!

I gave Chris Cayzer some flak over at Talamasca's blog after hearing his horrendous rendition of Lisa Loeb's "Stay (I Miss You)". But hearing his single "I Got U" made me think, "Hmmm...maybe I should cut him some slack."

I have to deviate to my usual weekly serving of Pinoy music, at least just for now.

I was listening to my customized Yahoo! music station and it played this really catchy French song entitled "Ta Douleur" (Your Pain) by Camille. When I first heard it, the song reminded me of the days when Eat Bulaga used to have those "human orchestra" competitions. Once I got over that, I began appreciating its creativity and the melody.

The gist of the song is "I know you are suffering, but trust me; I can take away your pain." With that, I recommend that you gotta listen to it as well. If you can speak French, or pretend to speak French like moi, try singing along after the jump!
