Split & Join prima parte. Unire e dividere i file video da linea di comando

Spesso, soprattutto se si utilizzano servizi tipo Rapidshare e Megaupload, può capitare di dover dividere o unire i nostri file video. Il mondo Gnu/Linux dispone di potenti tool, da linea di comando, che permettono di compiere queste due operazioni in modo rapido ed indolore.

Dividere i file avi ed mpeg

Per quanto riguarda la divisione del file in più parti, possiamo usare sia il comando split che mencoder (che fa parte del progetto MPlayer). Con:

split -d -b 100m VideoDaDividere.avi VideoDiviso.avi

divideremo il video in varie parti da 100 MegaByte, l'opzione -d serve a dare un suffisso numerico (.avi01, .avi02, ecc) ai file creati, mentre con la -b specifichiamo la dimensioni delle parti. Con Mencoder invece è possibile dividere un video di un ora in due parti da trenta minuti ciascuna, così:

mencoder -endpos 00:30:00 -ovc copy -oac copy VideoDaDividere.avi' -o prima_parte.avi

mencoder -ss 00:30:00 -oac copy -ovc copy VideoDaDividere.avi' -o seconda_parte.avi

L'opzione -ss indica dove deve iniziare la codifica, mentre -endpos indica dove deve finire.

Unire i file video

Se invece dobbiamo unire le varie parti di un video, possiamo usare ancora mencoder:

mencoder VideoDiviso1.avi VideoDiviso2.avi VideoDiviso3.avi -o VideoUnito.avi -oac copy -ovc copy

In alternativa è possibile usare l'ottimo comando cat (concatenate) in combinazione con mencoder. Con:

cat VideoDiviso.avi00 VideoDiviso.avi01 VideoDiviso.avi02 > VideoUnito.avi

uniamo le varie parti in un file solo. Quest'operazione può però creare problemi di sincronizzazione tra l'audio e il video. Dobbiamo quindi usare mencoder per sistemare la situazione:

mencoder -forceidx -oac copy -ovc copy VideoUnito.avi -o VideoUnito_finito.avi

Queste operazioni funzionano sia coi file avi che con i file mpg ed mpeg. Nei prossimi giorni parlerò delle applicazioni che permettono di compiere queste operazioni tramite interfaccia grafica.

Real Networks RealPlayer 11- the next major version of its media player software. San Francisco - Serangan virus komputer tampaknya tak akan bisa tuntas diberantas. Menurut vendor anti virus ternama McAfee, serangan masif program jahat dengan jalan memalsukan file musik MP3 dan juga video jenis MPEG baru saja teridentifikasi.

McAfee menjumpai banyak file MP3 palsu disebarkan via jaringan peer to peer. Meski file tersebut tampak seperti konten musik biasa, namun sebenarnya adalah virus Trojan yang akan berusaha menyusupkan program jahat ke komputer korban.

Menurut Craig Schmugar, peneliti di McAfee, file MP3 itu akan menggiring pengakses ke situs jahat. File MP3 palsu tersebut contohnya termasuk 'preview-t-3545425-changing times earth wind.mp3' ataupun 't-3545425-just got lucky.mp3'.

Masih menurut Schmugar, penemuan serangan program jahat memanfaatkan file audio video ini skalanya adalah yang terbesar dalam kurun waktu 3 tahun terakhir.

Seperti dikutip detikINET dari PCWorld, Rabu (7/5/2008), dalam waktu relatif singkat McAfee berhasil melacak keberadaan file MP3 jahat itu di sekitar 360.000 komputer desktop

Seminário no Goeldi debate desmatamento na Amazônia

Analisar o avanço do desmatamento na Amazônia a partir de um amplo debate entre os vários atores sociais envolvidos com o tema. Este é o objetivo principal do Seminário “Desmatamento na Amazônia: um diálogo necessário. É possível?”, que o Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG) e o Instituto de Desenvolvimento Econômico, Social e Ambiental do Pará ( Idesp) promovem nos dias 6 e 7 de maio, em Belém (PA).

O Seminário pretende aprofundar o conhecimento científico sobre o desmatamento da maior floresta tropical do mundo, a partir do ponto de vista da comunidade científica, das organizações não-governamentais, dos empresários e dos tomadores de decisões. A idéia é realizar um amplo diálogo entre esses atores para sistematizar recomendações aos tomadores de decisões.

Aberto ao público, o evento será realizado no Auditório Dr. Paulo Cavalcante, no Campus de Pesquisa do Goeldi, na Avenida Perimetral. O evento começa na terça-feira, dia 6, às 8h30, quando será realizada a Sessão de Abertura. Em seguida, tem início o Painel 1 , que reunirá a comunidade científica em torno do tema e será coordenado pelo Diretor do Idesp, Peter Mann de Toledo. O painel contará com a participação dos palestrantes Gilberto Câmara (INPE), Roberto Araújo (MPEG), Francisco de Assis Costa (UFPA), Bertha Becker (UFRJ) e Alfredo Homma (Embrapa Amazônia Oriental).

À tarde, das 14 às 18 horas, será realizado o Painel 2, destinado às organizações não-governamentais. Coordenado pelo pesquisador Leandro Ferreira, do Museu Goeldi, o debate contará com a participação dos representantes de David MacGrath (IPAM), Adrian Garda (Conservação Internacional), Roberto Esmeraldi (Amigos da Terra), Paulo Adario (Greenpeace), Jane Silva (Comissão Pastoral da Terra-Pará) e Carlos Souza (Imazon).

Na quarta-feira, dia 7, das 8h30 às 11 horas, será a vez dos empresários e dos tomadores de decisão dialogar sobre o desmatamento da Amazônia. O jornalista Lúcio Flávio Pinto será o moderador do Painel 3, que contará com a participação do Secretário de Estado de Meio Ambiente, Valmir Gabriel Ortega;da diretora do Instituto de Desenvolvimento Florestal do Estado do Pará (IDEFLOR), Raimunda Monteiro; do Secretário Adjunto da Secretaria de Meio Ambiente do Mato Grosso, Salatiel Alves Araújo; do representante do Ministério do Meio Ambiente, André Lima; e do setor produtivo Armando Soares (FAEPA) e Manoel Pereira Dias (AIMEX).

O Seminário “Desmatamento na Amazônia: um diálogo necessário. Software gratuito recomendado para ver películas en Windows

Esto iba a ser un post largo e interesante, hasta que, gracias al nuevo gestor de imágenes de Wordpress, se me colgó Firefox y se me borró toda la parrafada ¬¬ xD

Bueno, el objetivo de este post es sencillo; conozco aún a bastante gente que tiene muchos problemas a la hora de reproducir películas en su ordenador, ya sea por problema de codecs, dificultades a la hora de poner subtitulos a las películas, etc.

En mis comienzos, y lo digo así porque llevo muchísimo tiempo viendo películas y series en el ordenador, empecé utilizando el Reproductor de Windows Media. Es muy posible que casi todos lo hayáis utilizado, o de hecho que aún lo sigáis utilizando. A pesar de que no al mundo de los reproductores de vídeo lo que Internet Explorer es al de los navegadores, desde luego se trata de un reproductor no demasiado bueno, con un gran consumo de RAM por su parte y que presenta muchos problemas a la hora de reproducir películas con codecs "no standard"... por no decir de su mediocre integración con los subtítulos.

Por ello, fue cuestión de tiempo que empezase a buscar nuevos reproductores de vídeo; así fue como, después de largas y tediosas búsquedas, encontré el que para mí es el mejor, y con muchísima diferencia, reproductor de vídeo del mercado: BSPlayer.

En primer lugar hablaré de sus dos mayores (y diría que únicos) puntos negativos; el primer es que, a pesar de que en su primera versión fue gratuito, se convirtió en un programa de pago (29.95€, para ser más exactos xD) con versión gratuita recortada y con adware. A pesar de esto, podéis encontrar la versión 1.algo gratuita, completa y sin adware. El segundo punto negativo es que falla muchísimo a la hora de reproducir DVD, pero para eso ya tenemos al VLC Player, del que en breve hablaré.

Dando paso a las ventajas, ciertamente son innumerables: el interfaz es perfecta, simple y muy manejable, permitiendo redimensionar al gusto de cada uno la ventana, con muy poco gasto de recursos; la integración de subtitulos es de lo mejorcito, puesto que no solo funciona genial, sino que además permite cambiar el tipo de fuente, el tamaño, color, posición, etc. de los subtitulos, así como sincronizarlos como nosotros deseemos; por otro lado, permite también realizar capturas de pantalla, usar diferentes modos de pantalla (Panorámico, 4:3,...). En mi opinión, el mejor reproductor de vídeo que he probado jamás.

Por otro lado, hay que tener muy en cuenta a VLC Player; personalmente no me gusta tanto, ya que su interfaz no me llega a convencer y la integración de los subtítulos me ha dado a menudo problemas, pero por lo demás se trata de un reproductor totalmente gratuito, liviano, todoterreno en cuanto codecs (no suele dar ningún problema al respecto) y con una perfecta reproducción de DVD's, mejor incluso que algunos programas comerciales, y además es multiplataforma (Soporta Windows, Linux, MAC, etc,..).

En caso de que sigáis teniendo problemas de códecs, recomiendo que bajéis algun pack, como por ejemplo K-Lite.

I know I linked to the IEP Goals and Objectives Bank, and I used to have goals like that for Maddie, but anymore we write our goals very differently. This post is limited to math and language arts goals. She does have music therapy goals and speech goals that I will post later.

She is full time in the general education classroom, so our starting point is that she will do the grade level curriculum. We address her "functional use" of some academic skills in her IEP, because this is a way to track progress and this is the information that drives how we are modifying/adapting/accommodating her schoolwork. I do not want any goals at this time that cannot be addressed via general education curriculum and classwork.

Sample IEP goals:

Examples of her math goals and how they have progressed:

Maddie will be able to count out a specified number of items out of a larger set of up to ten ( 05/06 )
Maddie will be able to locate numerals on a number line up to ten. ( 05/06 )

So what does this look like? Remember, our goals drive how Maddie's classwork is accommodated (when need be). Looking at math, Given a choice of 3 numbers in various formats, Maddie will be able to identify the numbers zero through ten. (06/07) this meant that when the class was doing a math worksheet, she would answer by circling/ pointing to the right choice from 3 options listed, or choosing the right stamp out of 3 offered, etc. She is not leaving the classroom to work on this, the goal steers how she participates in the general education assignment.

Let's look at Maddie will be able to match 5 words to pictures. (05/06) this is how Maddie does her spelling list assignment. There is a list of the words and the symbols are separate, its her job to match them to each other. And Maddie will identify picture symbols that represent verbs, prepositions, adverbs, and pronouns from the Dolch pre-primer list. (07/08), we chose this one because we realized Maddie knew all nouns and verbs, but not pronouns or adjectives (which are more abstract concepts too). With Maddie will choose from a field of 3-6 words or symbols to sequence and/or complete ideas. (06/07), Maddie answers assignments by choosing from a field the correct symbol to paste onto her sheet.

Some people break down the Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCE's, pronounced glicks - like clicks) and write an IEP goal for each of the topics. I think that amount of information, for us, is unwieldy. Its too just much. If we were in a different position, I could see us doing this, but I trust Maddie's team knows how and what to adapt/ modify. If its something that is expected to be mastered by the rest of the class, that is the expectation for her as well. So if its the norm, it does not need an IEP goal. IMO!

I took the kids to a High School Musical party at our local library tonight. Our community theater group is putting on a HSM performance in a couple weeks, and they're visting local venues and events, practicing a couple songs and promoting the upcoming shows.

At one point, the large group was divided up and went with different cast members to learn one of the cheers. I stayed with Maddie and helped her try the moves. When the group came back together, the librarian mentioned that she would be taping the event to put up on the library's youtube site (OK- who even knew our library had youtube???).

But no way was I going to be the on a youtube video doing a High School Musical cheer! I asked a friend's daughter who is part of the cast to go up and help Maddie. Her reply was priceless...

"No, she doesn't need anyone. Why don't you just let her go up there and have fun and do what she wants?"

She totally put me in my place. And she was totally correct!

It went well! We were finished in four hours. That's pretty much unheard of for me.

The main thing I took away from Maddie's meeting was how important people are. We did a MAPS session, part of which includes listing what Maddie needs to have a successful year. I suggested "a caring teacher, who sees her possibility, who believes in her". That sparked a bit of a discussion about how important having the right staff is, how the current teacher and the receiving teacher really treat their classrooms like a family, the way having a child with a disability changes the dynamics of the classroom, the benefits to other students.

This may be wrong, but I LOVE it when the current year teacher cries. It shows that they've made this personal connection with Maddie and see the value in her is, that they care about her.

During the IEP, we had a discussion about testing, and I was surprised to find out that the tests Maddie had been taking in class were not modified at (ie the content was the same) but the format was accommodated (ie looks different). I was disappointed in myself because I thought these A's and B's she was bringing home were for adapted work, not the real fourth grade curriculum. I should have been a lot prouder of her!

At the end of the IEP, I like to say "something" to the team members.

"Because I live a lot of the time in the world of Angelman Syndrome, and spend a lot of time talking with other parents about Angelman Syndrome, I don't think the team really gets how amazing Maddie really is. The things she is doing, like reading and learning about types of rocks and fractions, its pretty much unheard of. And I don't think she is doing this because she is particularly lucky or high functioning or because I am just all that amazing of a parent, but because she has people who believe in her, who give her the opportunity to learn, who have high expectations for her. I appreciate everyone's efforts with Maddie this year. Thank you."

Chocotto Sister, as I have mentioned before, was subbed up until episode 13 by Ryoumi Subs. The quality they provided was less than DVD quality, and was censored (the raws were presumably captured from the original television run). So, I plan to make new files for myself by taking the subs made by Ryoumi and muxing them with DVD raws.

For me, it's a learning experience. I found DVD-ripped episodes (raw) that I can use. I was a bit surprised to see it say that they were 720x480. Well, sure, that's the standard NTSC DVD resolution, but the show's supposed to be 16:9! Yeah, my ignorance is stifling. I know about anamorphic DVDs, but wasn't sure how it would work for what I intend to do. So I looked it up and learned that it's fine, so long as I tell the container (I'll be using mkv) that the display AR should be different than that of the provided resolution.

Then I saw the size of the raw files, and was disappointed to see that the files were big enough to cause burning on a single DVD to be impossible. So, I remembered the neat "trick" that other groups have been using (specifically THORA). I will attempt to cut out the OP and ED from each episode, and link to them in the individual episode files using ordered chapters.

Since I'm using mkv, I can use soft subs. No trouble there, as I didn't want to have to re-encode a file every time I spot a spelling error. Yeah, even if it's only for personal archiving, I want to do it right.

Just before I started this entry, I was at another person's blog. I thought the complaints he made about "cutting" the OP and ED "out" were so terribly ill-informed, I wrote a huge response (despite the fact that the post was a couple months old). I was ready to "shipp it", but decided I'd rather not. I'll try to explain what he thought was bad, although his argument was baseless.

First he points out the pros

1) Save time encoding.

2) Less to upload. I'll just mention that 3 minutes in 24 is 12.5%, not 8% (which is not the same as 1/8).

3) Some people don't like watching the OP and ED, so not including them is a benefit.

Now his so-called "cons"

1) Not much time is actually saved encoding. And speed only really matters for speed subs, which are generally of lower quality. "A great majority of the leechers always wait for the better quality subs to be out anyway."

My response: even if it's a minor benefit, it's still a benefit. The process becomes faster for any group, and quality will remain unchanged. And I'm certain that the majority of leechers can't argue that a quality sub being released faster without loss of quality is a con.

2) As quality improves (the usage of HD raws for subs), the importance of file size becomes insignificant. Modern internet connections are fast enough to download 170MB within 30 minutes, so it doesn't take long to download. The exception would be for batch torrents, where the size issue is more significant. However, the OP and ED are likely to have changed after a certain number of episodes.

My response: it's certainly true that downloading files these days doesn't take as long it used to. But the speed is dependent on when you start downloading. If you missed the rush, you'll quite possibly take significantly longer than 30 minutes. As for batches, the smaller size of OP-less and ED-less files will be significant. In fact, if there's only one episode, there's no savings to be had in a separate OP and ED. But if you have two episodes, the savings is approximately 6.25%. Since the theoretical potential for savings is 12.5%, we're already at half that with only two episodes in a batch. Add more episodes, and we get closer to the theoretical maximum. In any case, if 12.5% can be considered significant, why not 6.25%? Given that there'll usually be at least 12 episodes to an OP and ED, if the files are 200MB each, we'll save 275MB for that many episodes. For those who miss the swarm, that 275MB can save a day or two. Not all broadband connections were created equal.

3) Over time, faster speeds and different containers and codecs. Using mkv as a replacement for avi results in smaller files (let's say 30MB smaller). Also, not everyone has great computer hardware, and won't necessarily be able to play the mkv along with its linking capabilities. So then, we'd need the avi equivalent with its greater size.

My response: ugh, such a garbage argument. This isn't even an argument against ordered chapters/segment linking. I'll concede that some won't be able to play the mkv that uses H264/x264, but when comparing apples to apples (avi with mpeg, mkv with mpeg), the playback isn't a problem. Linking can be turned off by either setting off something in Haali Splitter, or by simply not having the OP and ED in the same folder as the playing file. There is literally no problem to be had with ordered chapters here. The biggest benefit goes to those who watch HD encodes. Chop 50MB off for each 300MB episode, and the savings add up. If you can watch HD without trouble, you can certainly make use of ordered chapters without trouble.

4) Not wanting to see OP/ED is a lazy leecher's argument. Skipping them takes a few clicks. It isn't such a bother that necessitates the removal of the OP and ED completely. And not all media players support the function - that's dumb. Who wants to install yet another media player for a specific series by a specific subber?

My response: I agree, that's pretty lazy and not a solid argument. That fact isn't really a con though. Though it solves a very, very slight inconvenience, the slightness of it doesn't act negatively against the process. And who here hasn't heard of CCCP and Media Player Classic? Are you really an anime fan? No, seriously, that's sick. To be blunt, MPC is the only media player you really need. Disable the internal filters, and the filters installed by CCCP will work automatically. No installation is necessary for MPC, as it is a lightweight, standalone player.

His Conclusion:

"I feel that the cons outweigh the pros"

What cons were those again?

"It's mainly the inconvenience of having to proceed in a different way to get and watch your anime."

Two extra files to download. A few clicks. Did you not just say that skipping the OP with a few clicks isn't a problem? Never mind the fact that you'll only need one click to skip the OP and ED using ordered chapters (skip the chapter), but those few clicks per episode for 12 or more episodes outweighs the few clicks for the two files.

"The amount of time and effort saved is not significant, unless you want your episodes to download in 10 minutes instead of 15."

I don't even know why I'm responding to this here. I'll repeat myself. If you miss the swarm, you're in the slow lane. Using your arbitrary scaling (I'm actually just talking to myself since I chose not to actually respond to that garbage post), you could take 10 hours instead of 15. For batches, it is significant. For HD, it is significant. It's significant, damn it!

The poster even omitted the potential for fitting more episodes onto a single DVD, an important thing to those who using burning to make room on their ever-full hard drives. And for those who keep everything on the hard drive, there's the benefit of being able to fit more on the hard drive. (This isn't rocket science.)

Consider an HD encode to be 320MB without OP/ED, and the OP/ED are 50MB combined. Let's take a 13 episode show for our example. 13 * (300+50) = 4550MB. That's binary, so our conversion gets us 4.77GB. That's too much for DVD5. I'm actually undershooting here, but you can see how close it gets. A real world example can be found with THORA's Utawarerumono HD subs (excellent work, by the way). Each episode is 333MB and the OP/ED combine for 160MB. Using 13 episodes again, the decimal result is 4.45GB, and even with a bigger OP/ED than chosen before, it will all fit onto a single DVD. If the separate OP/ED method hadn't been used, then those same 13 episodes would have taken 6.7GB. And by no means is that insignificant.

As you can see, the benefit of using ordered chapters in tandem with a separate OP and ED is impressive. The trend is especially noticeable for those moving towards higher quality subs, rather than the speed subbers and impatient leechers the poster was trying to throw stones at. In conclusion, you know what I plan to do when it comes to my little problem with Chocotto Sister. The higher quality episodes won't fit as-is, so I'll make them fit by using ordered chapters and having a separate file for each the OP and the ED (via segment linking). MPEG-1 se converteu num padrão amplamente conhecido e utilizado numa grande quantidade de produtos e serviços relacionados com o manejo de video, sobretudo porque sua qualidade é muito próxima ao formato VHS; no entanto a qualidade não se deteriora porque é uma tecnologia digital.

Converteu-se no codec mais compatível dado que qualquer computador pessoal poderia executá-lo e muito poucos reprodutores de DVD não o suportavam.

No entanto, para usos mais gerais como Internet, difusão de video e meios de armazenamento, o formato MPEG segue sendo de grande importância. A versão MPEG-4 Parte 2 oferece uma qualidade melhorada com respeito a MPEG-2 e a primeira versão de H.263.

Today is Maddie's IEP. It never gets "easy", but I feel pretty comfortable with how I anticipate the meeting will go. I know at what points I will tear up and what point I will have to be fighting mad.

Just yesterday, a mom said this to me:

I guess I have looked at an IEP as something done "to" or "for" me.

That speaks volumes about how parents aren't treated as active participants, as equal partners in the process.

Keep your fingers crossed for me today! I'll update tomorrow and post the Parent Input I'm providing.

What is it like to be wanted? Isn't that something that we all crave? Wow, I've never really had this experience with Maddie before.

In general, this time of year really sucks for me. We have Maddie's annual IEP and MAPS meeting. Its a really long day, a lot of prep work, a lot of anxiety and stress, and I know I'll be guaranteed to break down and cry at least twice during the meeting.

Part of preparing for the meeting is to find out who the next year's teacher choices are, get input from other staff people, students who have had these teachers before, parents who have had kids in these classrooms before, and especially the parents who opted to move their child to a different hallway to avoid having a certain teacher. Meeting the teachers is like asking someone out for that first date.

I've known them from the hallway, I'm at school a lot and with the other kids with me, I don't exactly blend in. And I think they all know that Maddie is in their hallway, and somebody will have to take her for the next year.

I have had some really bad experiences with meeting potential teachers. It doesn't matter if they are purposefully being derogatory in hopes that will avoid the fate of being chosen for Maddie's teacher, or whether they are just ignorant and unknowingly make hurtful comments, its torture to hear someone rejecting your child, all the while having to still sit their smiling and nodding. "Right." "Oh that's interesting." "I see your point."

Somehow, I don't think grabbing the teacher by the shoulders and shaking her while screaming in her face "She is a CHILD damnit a CHILD! She is perfect! I wouldn't let you have the honor of being her teacher", somehow I don't think that would go over very well.

Because it is Monday, and Maddie's IEP meeting is this Thursday, I thought "gee I should figure out what teacher I expect to be there, and she might like to know that she has this meeting coming up too!"

I was able to have an unscheduled hour long meeting this morning with one of the teachers. It could not have gone a bit better. OK, maybe one or two comments could have been more PC, but relative to some of the others, if this had been a first date I think I might have proposed afterwards!

This teacher totally gets it. She was not hung up at all on where Maddie is "academically". She only cared a little bit about the Angelman Syndrome aspect. The best part? She talked about what a gift it would be to the rest of her students to have Maddie as their classmate. The sense of community and how it changes the entire social structure and atmosphere to have a student with a disability included.

She relayed a story about helping a student keep his support services when moving up to middle school, and was very clear she would be happy to step up and help Maddie if it ever was needed. Maddie is not even her student yet. Wow, I was just blown away.

Its been interesting, that for the past 3 years, each teacher has had a personal experience with a close female family member being disabled. I sometimes find out when I meet with the teacher during the school year or when we have an IEP meeting for the next year, and the teacher admits why her connection to Maddie is so personal. Our potential grade 5 teacher told me immediately. It wasn't something she was ashamed of or that she was uncomfortable with. She was proud of it.

To have to make due with "tolerance" and hoping for eventual "acceptance" of your child (and by proxy yourself) ... to be given this warm and honest welcome, its truly a gift. Thank you Mrs. R! Thank you.

.PCX - Zsoft tarafından geliştirilmiş bir grafik formatıdır.
.PIF - Microsoft tarafından geliştirilen ve açılımı "Program Information File" olan bu dosya, uygulamanın hangi parametreler kullanılarak çalıştırılacağını Windows'a anlatır.
.PNG - Açılımı "Portable Network Graphics" olan bu imaj formatı halen yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Imajları yüksek oranda sıkıştırabilen bu format, görüntüde herhangi bir kayba sebep olmaz. Quickview, Internet Explorer, xırfanview gibi yazılımlar PNG uzantılı dosyaları gösterebilir.
.PPS - PowerPoint Slayt göserisi. Bir PowerPoint sunumunun (PPT) uzantısını PPS olarak değiştirirseniz dosyanın üzerine çift tıkladığınızda sunum otomatik olarak dönmeye başlar.
.PPT - PowerPoint sunum dosyaları PPT uzantısını taşır ve Microsoft PowerPoint uygulamasıyla açılabilir.
.PSD - Photoshop'un varsayılan imaj formatıdır.
.MOV, .QT - QuickTime dosyaları, Apple tarafından sunulan QuickTime uygulaması kullanılarak görüntülenebilir. Bu iki uzantıya sahip olan dosyalar, bir müzik parçası, video görüntüsü veya çevresel görüntü barındırabilir.
.RA, .RAM, .RM - Real Neworks (www.real.com) tarafından geliştirilmiş ses/video dosyalarıdır.
.RAR - Yüksek sıkıştırma oranı sağlayabilen bir sıkıştırma / arşivleme dosya türü, WinRaR kullanılarak açılabilir.
.RAW - Ham (işlenmemiş) görüntü formatıdır. İlgili makine üreticisinin sunduğu imaj işleme yazılımıyla açılıp, kullanılabilir bir imaj formatına çevrilmeleri gerekir.
.REG - Kayıt dosyası. Bu dosyaların üzerine çift tıkladığınızda içerisindeki bilgiler Windows Kayıt Defteri'ne (Regedit.exe) işlenecektir.
.RTF - Rich Text Format (Zengin metin biçimi). Microsoft tarafından hayata geçirilmiş, yazı tipi, renk ve vurgulama barındıran metin tabanlı dosyalar hazırlamanıza olanak tanıyan bir formattır.
.SIT - Apple Macintosh bilgisayarlarda kullanılan bir dosya sıkıştırma - arşivleme formatıdır. SIT dosyalarını açabilmek için sisteminizde Stuffit Expander (www.stuffit.com) uygulaması yüklü bulunmalıdır.
.SCR - Ekran koruyucu dosyalarıdr. Bu dosyaların çalıştırılabilir EXE, COM, MSI gibi dosyalardan farkları bulunmaz. Üzerlerine çift tıklayarak SCR dosyalarını çalıştırıbilirsiniz.
.SYS - Sistem dosyalarıdır.
.TAR - "Tape Archive" ifadesinin kısaltılmasından oluşan bu uzantı UNIW tabanlı işletim sistemlerinde kullanılır. TAR dosya formatında arşivlenip bir araya getirilen dosyalarda sıkıştırma işlemi gerçekleştirilmez. TAR dosyaları zaman zaman yardımcı uygulamalarla sıkıştırılarak .tar.gz, .tar.Z veya .tgz. gibi uzantılara kavuşurlar.
.THEME - Microsoft'un Windows 95'ten itiberen kullanmaya başladığı bu dosya uzantısı arayüz temasını değiştirebilen dosyalara eklenir.
.TIF, TIFF - Grafik dosyalarıdır. Photoshop, Irfanview gibi uygulamalar kullanılarak görüntülenebilirler.
.TMP - Geçici (Temporary) dosyalarıdır.
.TXT - ASCII standardı belirlenmiş karakterleri kullanan metin dosyalarıdır.
.WAB - "Windows Address Book" ifadesinin bir kısaltması olan WAB uzantısı, kısaltmadan anlaşılabileceği gibi adres defteri barındıran dosyaların sonuna eklenir. Outlook Express, WAB dosyalarını kullanan uygulamaların başında gelir. Herhangi bir WAB dosyasını açmak, içeriğini görüntülemek ve değiştirmek için üzerine çift tıklamanız yeterlidir.
.WAV - Herhangi bir sıkıştırma rutini barındırmayan ham ses dosyasıdır.
.WMF - Popüler bir vektörel grafik formatıdır. WMF dosyalarının sağladığı avantaj, vektörel olmasının sağladığı avantaj ile kaliteden ödrün vermeksizin istenilen büyüklükte kullanılabilmesidir. Hemen her grafik uygulaması bu formatı tanır.
.WRI - Karşılaşılması oldukça zor olan bir dosya formatıdır. RTF formatına benzeyen bir biçime sahip olan WRI dosyaları, Windows 3.1 ve NT 3.51 bünyesindeki Write uygulamasıyla hazırlanır. Wordpad, MS Word gibi popüler kelime işlemciler bu dosyaları açabilirler.
.XLS - Excel çalışma tablosu. Tahmin edilebileceği gibi Microsoft Excel uygulamasıyla oluşturulabilir ve açılabilir.
.Z - Unix'de kullanılan dosya sıkıştırma formatıdır. Bu dosya uzantısını taşıyan dosyaları açmak için 7 Zip (www.7-zip.org) veya benzeri ücretsiz bir uygulamadan faydalanabilirsiniz.
.ZIP - Sıkıştırılmış arşiv dosyasıdır. Çeşitli sıkıştırma uygulamaları tarafından oluşturulabilen ve açılabilen dosya türüdür. Windows Me ve üzeri işletim sistemleri ZIP dosyalarını açmak için herhangi bir uygulamaya ihtiyaç duymazlar.

Over Easter break, the kids and I went to Lake Erie Metropark's Marshands Museum and Nature Center. I took this photo of all my babies reading.

Are they all reading these nature and travel magazines that were at the park? Obviously no!

I strongly discourage the phrase "he/she can't" in our household. Andrew is at the age where he likes to say this a lot, as in "Maddie can't read" or "JJ can't ride a bike". No, she doesn't 'read' per se, but don't you dare say she isn't a reader. She's a work in progress (my goodness, aren't we all ??? ) No, Jason doesn't 'ride' a bike, but should I yank him off of it or should I allow him to sit on the seat and teeter a bit because he enjoys it?

It reminded me of a saying that I like to use, and a few other moms (shout out to the Angelman Syndrome listserv!) have said they liked it, so what the hay, I'll post it here. Whether its because a child is young or just not yet able or maybe will never be able, I like to say

"as best you can"

to encourage each child at their own level. "As best you can" is close to the "just right" concept they are using in school. Everyone knows what a genuine effort on their part looks like, what actually doing what you know you are capable of is, and what pushing yourself just a little beyond "safe" feels like.

I ask that of them, and I try to ask that of myself. I'm not supermom, and I shouldn't aspire to be. "As best you can" is the most anyone should try for.

Actualmente el precio de las cámaras digitales ha bajado considerablemente, creando una competencia entre las marcas líderes en el mercado. Pero a la hora de comprar una cámara digital tenemos que tener en mente cuáles serán los usos como por ejemplo los tamaños de fotos, la cantidad de fotos que queremos almacenar, si es compatible con la computadora que vamos a conectar, si necesitamos vídeo compatible con un programa específico, tamaño de la cámara, los accesorios como tarjetas de memoria, el consumo de las baterías, si tiene la opción para fotos en movimiento o tomadas a velocidad, etc.

Si estamos buscando una cámara digital para realizar ampliaciones o presentaciones tenemos que tener en mente una cámara con una resolución de 7.0 mega pixels en adelante, mientrás más alto es el número de mega pixels, mejor será su resolución. Ahora tenemos que tener cuidado si las fotos son para enviar mediante correo electrónico o Internet porque si la resolución es muy alta, tarda más tiempo en transferir, aunque muchas cámaras digitales traen la opción para cambiar la resolución de la foto.

La mayoría de las cámaras convierten sus fotos en formato JPEG y el vídeo en formato AVI, DV, MPEG y MOV. Con el formato de fotos generalmente no hay problemas pero en el vídeo tenemos que tener precaución ya que si suele utilizar programas como MS Power Point no le acepta todo tipo de formatos de vídeo. Para insertar vídeo en MS Power Point es necesario que el vídeo este en formato MPEG. Si la cámara digital graba vídeo en formato AVI no podrá insertarlo en una presentación de MS Power Point porque no son compatibles, aún así si ya tiene su cámara digital puede optar por un programado convertidor de archivos.

Recomendaciones: antes de comprar una cámara digital lea sus especificaciones, busque información en Internet del fabricante e invierta en un equipo que le funcionará para cada una de sus exigencias.

BitRipper, convierte tus DVDs a avi en un click

BitRipper es un programa con el que podremos convertir nuestros DVDs a AVI o MPEG de forma muy sencilla (lo que algunos llaman “rippear” más la conversión de formatos de toda la vida). De forma similar a HandBrake, BitRipper es capaz de convertir directamente el DVD en cuestión a nuestro disco duro en un sólo paso, con tan sólo pulsar un botón.

El programa hasta ahora tenía licencia comercial, pero recientemente ha pasado a ser freeware, en la misma página de descarga que os enlazo al final de la entrada tenéis el código que debéis poner para registrar el software.

BitRipper es capaz pues de convertir de forma sencilla y rápida, se traga cualquier formato de DVD, ya sea de 4.7GB o de 8GB con o sin protección, es capaz de convertir al vuelo (es decir sin tener que copiar el DVD en nuestro disco), lleva códecs propiamente en la instalación pero es capaz de detectarlos en nuestro sistema si ya los tuviésemos y permite usar conversiones a XVID y MP3 para compresiones más altas, pudiendo normalizar el audio y subirlo o bajarlo a nuestra elección. En cuanto a desventajas, no soporta subtítulos, las opciones de ajuste de calidad son un poco confusas y no permite exportación a otros formatos como mp4 para iPods, iPhones o PSPs.

Como alternativas, además de Handbrake, también tenemos Auto GK, RipIt4Me(softonic, el site oficial anda caído) y DVDFab Decrypter.
