By Tara Paterson

As a parent who may or may not be familiar with psychic abilities or even what to look for in your child, how can you begin to understand how to relate to your pyschic child's needs?

As with most of the information I have gathered about psychic kids, my intuition has lead me to understand the needs and signs my children have revealed to me as their gifts have unfolded for them. Very early on with my second child I learned to be open to hearing what he said he experienced without judgement or correction. If he told me he could see colors, I believed him; if he said he could see "Jesus" I accepted that too. What he also helped me with was the ability to see my oldest child's intuitive abilities which until then weren't as profound in nature or discussed as much, but what Adam always did talk about was his invisible friend.

I started to pay attention to Adam's stories about his friend and even encouraged his interaction with him. He also had a name for him which said to me it was more than his imagination. We can all recall stories about either our own encounter with an invisible friend; a friend's account; or just the numerous stories of other children who dance in this realm on a regular basis. So what happens to this natural ability as children get older? Often times parents don't understand that their children are actually interacting with an angel or being on the other side. What they see is very real to them and when a parent tells them its not there or stop imagining things, children become confused and because they trust their parent they begin to supress what they know. This was something that happened for a lot of parents in their own upbringing which is what caused many parent's to shut down their own natural gifts. The good news is that because we are growing in awareness about the gifts our children have, we are also finding a piece of ourselves we may have lost a long time ago.

I recently recalled a memory that came back to me while writing a section for my upcoming book- Raising Intuitive Children, about how I used to see colors dance on my ceiling at night. I had long since forgotten about it until I was writing about my son Caden's experiences. It is amazing how our children can reflect back for us pieces of ourselves we have buried deep within and what a blessing to have them revealed to us once again. So how can you support your intuitive and pyschic children in developing what they know?

Listen to what they say and believe them. Children don't lie and what they experience is very real for them.

Encourage them to interact with an invisible friend or being they feel safe around. This will open up dialogue that may just trigger a memory of your own.

How can you communicate with your children in a way that will open up dialogue abou

by Tara Paterson

How can you communicate with your children in a way that will open up dialogue about what they may see and at what age?

Just a few days ago, I was sitting with my 2 1/2 year old daughter Kaylee on our back deck and decided to have a conversation with her about what she might see. I have on many occassions heard her having a conversation with her angels when passing by her room at night or during naptime.

So I asked her- "can you see any angels?"
She looked at me with her big crystal blue eyes and said "angels?"
"yes" I said.
She looked out into the yard and pointed to something and repeated "angel." Next I asked her if she saw any fairies and with excitement she said "fairies?"
"Yes," I said "do you see any fairies?"
With a quizzical look she confidently replied "no."

I laughed. I had no doubt she knew what I was saying and was clear about which she saw and what she didn't see. It was quite magical.

I have heard many stories from parents about children who recognize deceased loved ones in a picture when they never met them in physical life. So I thought I would test this theory with my daughter as well. My dad passed suddenly 6 days before she was born so when she was about a year old I showed her a picture of him and asked her who he was and she responded with "grandpa." What else can I say?

I wouldn’t have necessarily considered my son Caden to be “pyschic.

by Tara Paterson

I wouldn't have necessarily considered my son Caden to be "pyschic." I knew he was spiritually or energetically gifted; what I would call spiritually intuitive, but it wasn't until recently while watching the program Pyschic Kids on A&E that I realized he would fit into the "pyschic" category. From the time he was born I was intuitively aware of his amazing energy; the word my husband and I used to describe him was love: pure love. He mesmerized people with his presence and he had the ability at a very early age to shift or read the energy of whatever was going on in a room. At 3 he could see colors and by 4 he could see the ghosts in our house. From 4 to the present he can see my dad's spirit and recently he began to see beings everywhere.

I guess this would qualify him as a pychic, but for Caden its what he knows. I believe a lot of people fear the word pyschic, because it makes a statement about a specific gift most people can't relate to, but is that necessarily true? In some capacity, we all have natural intuitive abilities. How we use them depends on how we receive and process information. For Caden he receives information through his visual senses or what are considered clairvoyant abilities. There are other ways to receive information through the other senses of- hearing (clairaudient), feeling (clairsentient or kinesthetic), or cognition (claircognizance). Each of these gifts offer children and adults alike the opportunity to develop their natural abilities. It also explains a lot of what children do or say.

So what can show up physically for a child or what kinds of experiences can trigger the heightened sense of one or more of these gifts? Next time I will share what physically showed up for Caden as his experiences intensified and also what events triggered a shift in his energetic perception.

My father died five years ago. We all mourned, but we have learned, though with difficulty, to move on. My mom thought that she never would remarry. We told her that it was okay to remarry, as we can't promise that we can't be with her at all times. We grow up, and fate may lead us to very very different paths.

One day when the whole world woke up, she has suddenly married someone whose name my sibilings and I do not even know and whose face we have never seen.

It was a secret ceremony with no one given notice but my mom's mother and siblings. The rest of us felt betrayed. We could not possibly understand why on earth can she bear not telling us. She should have remembered that we have the right to know because we are her children, and that we still breathe.

We were plain stunned. The irony of the matter is, on the day after the wedding, I came home to the province, saw her, and yet she never mentioned about it. I was clueless at that point, thinking that it was just another one of my many visits to what I called home.

I was mistaken.

I am the talkie type. I regularly have conversations with our employees. I treat them as equals, seeing that our only difference is the availability of opportunity. Due to that, they refard me as one of their friends, that they can freely tell me anything without fearing for their livelihood.

One of them came up to me and asked if I already knew that I have a new stepdad. My jaws dropped, I almost fainted.I headed straight back to Manila without saying goodbye to anyone.

It has been a while since I last spoke with her, and I've realised that I cannot go on like this. So I have resolved to go back home, talk to her again, and iron things out.

I love my mom, but I can't help but feel like I am an Osbourne.

Or maybe the Osbournes fared better, I do not know.

Life has a wicked sense of humor.

Wish me luck I could use some.

*****************************
This has been written months and months ago so please do not blurt out unsolicited pep talk as they are already obsolete. Thank you

By Dr. Caron Goode

While visiting my parents after their 50th wedding anniversary, they asked me to accompany them to visit a long-time friend who had a terminal illness. I had known Mr. Wilson as a child and had attended school with his children. While my parents visited with Mr. W., I went to the cafeteria, brought coffee for all and then it was time to leave. As I was passing by Mr. W’s hospital bed, I saw a flash of light at head of his bed and over his left shoulder. Simultaneously, I heard a voice in my head, “Tell him to prepare for death.”

I ignored it, said goodbye, and walked out of his hospital room, and I felt that I hit a glass wall that wouldn’t let me go further down the hall. My parents didn’t really know or understand that I had and used these gifts, and neither could I ignore the intuitive pull to return to Mr. Wilson. I told my parents I would be right back, and they should go to the car. I explained to Mr. Wilson that an angel at his head was there to carry him over in the morning. The angel suggested that he call his wife and daughters to help him keep vigil on his last night in his body. Mr. Wilson cried tears of gratitude and immediately called his family. I sensed he was ready to leave a pain-filled body. I returned home with my parents and never told them what happened. I wasn’t sure they would get it and the moment was for Mr. Wilson. Fifteen years later, at my mother’s funeral, Mrs. Wilson found me, hugged me, and cried with joy that I had alerted her husband to his passing. She said the hours before his death as a family were the richest she had ever known, a joy that deepened the bond between her and her daughters. She also told me that she shared this story to my mother, who never mentioned it, but she knew.

We had my moma and pa and Peter's mom and dad and sister over for Mother's Day. The original hope was to go visiting on the motorcycle, but it was WINDY and RAINY and so no luck. So we decided to have everyone over here. No one really comes here that often because we are so far away (25 or 45 minutes...which isn't all that far really, but with gas prices and busy busy schedules, it makes it harder).

I was excited to show everyone the changes made here since they have last been here, and the yard with things simply exploding in the last two weeks. The menu was simple - more food than you could eat in all three meals of the day - so pretty much the usual. Steak from father John's herd (Peter's dad), Dawn (P's mom) brought potato casserole and green bean salad (P loves it). Moma/Lynny-poo brought not one, but two desserts - rhubarb crisp and a double-layer chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and strawberries. Pa brought morels that moma then fried for lunch as well. Peter grilled the steaks, I made a cheese tray, rolls, fruit pizza, salad (writing this down...I actually had the easier parts of the menu...good for me!)

So Dawn thought there was too much food as I was continually pulling things out, but that is just our way. No one will go to hell as long as there is enough food. The only thing we ran out of was the morels. I did my part by not eating any. I sacrifice like that, by not eating things that gross me out completely.

We followed up our traditionally large dinner by NOT doing dishes. Emily helped me clear the table and sort the dishes, but I refused to let Dawn have us do dishes. I have a dishwasher for a reason after all, and I hate having to spend all afternoon in the kitchen while I have guests in the dining room. So there you have it. I still have a load of dishes to do, but I had a good time going back and forth between Peter and Pa talking about the bedroom remodel for this summer, and John, Dawn and Moma talking about who knows what (they skipped around a lot).

Art is an adventure, I tell you! Drawing from life is a special sub-section of marvelous things artists do. Drawing animals from life is the super challenge. In this case I got more than just an artistic experience for my troubles.

I was staying the summer in the small town where my parents live, and I decided to paint chicks after learning that the local feed store had a supply of bitties. So, I arrived at the store, examined the chicks and asked if I could borrow some for a few hours because I wanted to draw them -- you know, as though they get this request every day. I said I'd pay for the birds, but could I get some of the money back upon their return? How much is chick rental, anyway?

Well, nice people in small Southern towns rent chicks to artists for free. They told me to bring the birds back when I was finished and "have a good time." So, off I went.

Back at the house I found a large mental tub where they could hop around. The silvery metal would provide a good background color. So I began to paint.

But from time to time, I had various distractions call me into other rooms of the house, and I'd leave my paints for a few minutes. Each time I left the room: "Cheep, cheep, cheep!" I'd hear the chicks' frantic call that momma was gone. I reappear, and they'd hush. I'd leave. They started calling me again: "Mother, come back!"

Here's the painting of my brood. I returned them to the store as promised. Of course it was necessary that they leave the nest someday. I hope that they turned out well as they made their way in the world. And I hope sometimes they think kind things of me, too, their Mum for a day.

(You know, I was a mother cat once too. Ironic, ain't it.)

by Tara Paterson
The technique I taught my son Caden for keeping the energy of other’s from affect

by Tara Paterson

The technique I taught my son Caden for keeping the energy of other’s from affecting him to an overwhelming degree was to surround himself with a bubble. He is intuitively aware of the color and vibration of his aura; so in reality he is really surrounding himself with his own energy.

Now this is a great way to visually describe it for a younger child who needs a context for what to do; for an older child you can have them surround themself with white light or perhaps encourage them to call on an angel or the presence of a loved one who has passed. This will also work for little ones, but sometimes this can frighten younger children. A bubble is a common visual understanding for most children and so it works well.

Whenever Caden came home and showed signs of anxiety, I would ask him if he remembered to surround himself with his bubble and often he had, but at times he didn't feel it worked or someone invaded his space. Encourage your child to continue this technique, because it is a tool they will need if they continue to grow with their gift.

It is vitally important for parents to continue to offer their children knowledge and support from a loving, supportive place. Never create a space where they feel fear from the techniques you are teaching them. These can be overwhelming experiences for both parents and children, so continue to check in with your intuition to monitor what is working. Enjoy the journey!

TORONTO, C A N A D A -- As my classmate was passing by our home, I asked, “Eppie, where’s mama?” Truth was, Eppie wasn’t my sister and had her pass as my sister in the ears of my classmate, Carmelita. Eppie is my niece by my brother, Randolph. The more appropriate question then was, “Eppie, where’s your mama?”

I phrased the question intentionally as I uttered to let my classmate know that like her, I had a mother, too, for at that time, I had none, as my mother passed away when I was four years old.

I recall this story as we celebrated Mother’s Day on May 11.

The greatest envy I have are on those people whose mothers celebrated with them the best times in their lives, and consoled them in times of sadness.

As a child, I never had these experiences, but lucky enough to have the utmost love of my father and my younger siblings among a brood of seven whom I grew up with – Nelson, Tony, Jr., and Bert, who saw me through to be the person I am today.

Having hardly known my mother, there were only a few things I knew of her, mostly from the anecdotes as told by my nanny – who until I was 17 or 18 continued to visit with us occasionally, until she, too, passed away.

So, let me share with you a couple.

My mother, the former Pilar Andrada Soriano, was from a family of vast agricultural landowners, and -- as you read the middle and last names, was an epitome of Castilian beauty and … character, the latter as we had known them in the Philippines.

One story from my nanny went that one day, my sister – who lived with her husband nearby sent a maid to take a serving of tinolang manok to my father and mother.

As the maid put down the fine china on the dining table, my mother asked the maid, “Did they eat lunch yet?”

Replying in the affirmative, my mother asked the maid to take back the tinolang manok and tell my sister that the correct way of sending these things was before the latter and my brother-in-law would have eaten their lunch, otherwise, it would be construed as leftovers.

Of course, my sister cried and came to my mother, explaining that the padala was in fact reserved even before they had lunch, but opted to send it until after they had eaten.

Another story went that everytime my mother would buy a box of matches, she would count all the sticks in the box and divide them by three: each stick to be used for cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner, so much so that when the matches were gone before the day they were supposed to be consumed, the househelp assigned to cooking would be in trouble. Well, my nanny never mentioned what kind of trouble. Neither was I able to ask because of amusement over the story.

My nanny would repeatedly stress, “Don’t get the wrong impression though, but your mom was loved by all helpers in the household, friends and relatives.”

To you, readers, whatever, impression you might have on my mother from these anecdotes, lesson to keep is, treasure your mother always. This was one thing I did not have one privilege of, for which my wife, Gie, noticed, as the explanation why I’m always extra sweet with seniors.

So how does a parent begin to manage the emotional energy of their intuitively sensitive child? This was something I had to figure out for my son Caden who began to see colors around children at school.

Caden had communicated with us from the age of three how he could see colors in his room and later around people, but the challenge now became how to assist him with managing this emotional energy while he was in school and in other public places. It became an issue when he would come home from school and within a short time would have a meltdown over what seemed to be insignificant to us. For instance, he became quite angry at a neighbor boy who threw his tennis ball for the dog to fetch; or he would burst into tears about something his brother did, which he had probably done half a dozen times. Another thing I became aware of was his shift in story telling. He would tell a story about something that happened in school as if it happened to him, but my intuition would always lead me to asking if this had happened to another child and he would almost always answer "yes." He was deeply impacted by kids picking on other kids or someone hurting a friend's feelings. Soon I was certain he was empathic and what was happening was he would absorb the feelings and emotions of everyone around him.

So what did I do to help him manage this energy? Nine times out of ten he was already in a flurry of emotion by the time we reached the root cause of the outburst so I would take him to his room, have him lay down and begin breathing; then I would put one hand on his heart and rub his leg or arm to relax his nervous system. This could take anywhere from 5-15 minutes, but once he was grounded enough to focus, he could release the emotion he absorbed and communicate the reason for the meltdown. Another technique Caden discovered for himself was going into the backyard to put his feet in the dirt; this is an excellent way for a child to naturally ground them self. Lastly, for Caden specifically, we always make sure to have access to water whether via the bathtub, a pool, or a hot tub. If you've ever noticed your child's desire to spend a lot of time in the water, especially at times he/ she seems irritated, this may be the reason.

In our next story, I will share the technique I taught Caden for keeping the energy of other's from affecting him to this degree. It's especially important for intuitively sensitive children to have tools they can use to safeguard their space from the energy of others.
