This documentary was playing at the UC Irvine Film and Video Center. I didn’t know who Willia

This documentary was playing at the UC Irvine Film and Video Center. I didn't know who William Eggleston is, but apparently he was one of the first people doing color art photography. He had the first solo show of color photography at MOMA, and there was a lot of negative criticism towards him and the curator. Most of his photos are of ordinary everyday things. His photos have the feel of being snapshots. The photos seem to bleed color. Eggleston doesn't like to explain what he is doing or trying to do. The director of the documentary, Michael Almereyda, was at the screening and he said that he respected Eggleston's quietness and implication that words cannot explain pictures. I respect him too. There is a lot of power in words, but not all thoughts are easily put into words, and while trying to find those words, the time for something else is lost.
