Other highlights included stunning bikini-clad fruit and flower girls Charli and Ella transformed into human fruit kebabs, with chocolate sauce drizzled in provocative places, and Miss Human-Hi herself, the fabulous Sarah Burge, at her decadent and outrageous best.

If Wednesday's event - the latest in a string of eagerly anticipated HumanHi parties - is anything to go by, the Queen of the distinctive laugh is on her way to launching her feel-good manifesto on the world. 

Skinny Water made sure teetotallers were well-catered for with over 150 bottles of water on hand. The hotly sought-after goody bags were donated by Bach and Supreme Creations and offered lavish treats like Nubar nail polish, tasty flapjacks from Coconoil and Beauty From Within fruit juice. Oh, and not forgetting the hangover-busting Vitamin Water to make the morning after easier to bear.

George Michael finished 2 sold out shows at Madison Square Garden this week and did an interview with Good Morning America and unbeknowst  to him, a mini-interview with hopefully our new correspondant from New York City who I call G.E.D. and the "E" stands for everywhere cuz that is where he seems to be.

In the GMA interview, he talked about how music saved his life thru his battle with depression and commented about the awkward time in his late 20's: "It was a terribly depressing time. I had my very first relationship at 27 because I really had not actually come to terms with my sexuality until I was 24."

"I lost my partner to HIV then it took about three years to grieve, then after that I lost my mother. I felt almost like I was cursed.

"The only thing that got me through it was my music. It survived. I wrote very, very little, but the little I wrote did well and kept my head above water. It was depression and shock which just went on for years."

"As the 24 or 25-year-old that could not believe how quickly all of his dreams had come true, could not believe how blessed he'd been, and then just this absolute nightmare. You have to believe that there's some reason it happened in that order. I was supposed to learn those things a bit earlier than other people so I could put it in to work."

Deep ish if you ask me.  Let's get to the positive stuff.

George spoke with G.E.D. impromptu and off the cuff and his only request was no photos.  He came off as a total gentleman and shared how great the tour has been and it is def his last in the U.S.  We are sad to hear that but understand.

George told G.E.D. that he is planning to release a CD/DVD package of the North American Tour with all the songs played over here and the songs he will do overseas later this year that he did not do on the American tour, will be on the DVD & CD which he hopes to have in stores in December. YES!

This tour was awesome and aside from a certain someones Coachella DVD..cough cough...(Prince) cough cough (please release the Coachella DVD) cough cough....scuse me...had something in my throat, this DVD would be something I would be looking forward to.

Now, this came straight from George's mouth and we hope it does get released by the time he expects it to be, but we understand, but remain hopeful. The date we saw in L.A. was off the chain and I am sure Dr. Phil, Scary Spice aka Mel B., Victoria Beckham, Bo Derek, and others can agree to.

New York City club phenomenon Lady Gaga was the musical guest on the pageant and, other than Miss USA having two left feet, the highlight of the night. Her outfit is atrocious, but what would you expect from a show hosted by Jerry Springer and Scary Spice?

1. Começa com a escolha dos apresentadores. O QUE!? Uma spice girl (Mel B) apresentando o miss universo? É muito pro nosso coraçãozinho! Será que vamos agüentar até o fim da noite?

2. E logo na letra A, entra a miss Albânia vestida de vampira.

Deu até medo, mas a gente torceu pra ela, antes da desclassificação já no top 15. Alguém só esclarece se ela tava de dentadura de vampiro ou não? Gratos.

3. Tocou "Love Today" do Mika. E a gente adorou. Ponto pro dj universo.

4. MAS aí entra uma amiga pra cantar durante a apresentação de bikinis das top 15 misses. E quem era essa menina?

Ela chama Lady GaGa, mas a pergunta continua valendo: quem DIABOS é essa? E porque o Mika não foi cantar ao vivo? Ou mesmo a Mel B?!

5. Mesmo depois de escolhidas as top 15, todas as outras 65 misses tem que ficar no fundo dançando e sorrindo e fingindo que estão achando ótimo somente ter chegado até ali. E a gente sabe que é mentira, que no backstage elas só faltam jogar ácido sulfúrico na cara uma da outra. Então palmas pro profissionalismo (calma, ser miss é profissão?) das 65 miss perdedoras 2008.

6. No desfile de vestidos de gala teve coisas incríveis, tipo a miss USA tomando um chão e levantando aplaudindo. Conforme as misses desfilavam, aparecia a nota de cada uma no canto do seu televisor (um beijo pro silvio santos que é a única pessoa que fala televisor). E a miss Mexico e miss República Dominicana foram praticamente peladas. Obviamente, a gente adorou, e o juri também: as notas foram lá em cima.

7. No top 5, sobraram 4 latinas e uma européia, ou melhor, uma russa. Ficamos com um pouco de dó da russa, que foi vestida de grega e tinha cara de monga. Ela bem que se esforçou, mas... ela não foi pelada. Ficou a dica. 

8. Aí pra entregar a faixa de miss universo 2008 entra a miss universo 2007, a japonesa Riyo Mori, vestindo... uma calça e um fraque! Ninguém entendeu nada! Nem a miss japão 2008 que tinha cara de barraqueira, de franja assimétrica e tudo, não deve ter entendido. Pelo que a gente sabe, ela quebrou todo um protocolo, já que as misses sempre aparecem de vestido.

9. E o fim de mais um maravilhoso concurso de beleza chegou. Os 15 jurados dignos (entre eles DONALD TRUMP JR. e CAVALLI) escolheram a mulher mais bela do universo em 2008, ninguém ficou surpreso né, tava na cara que a Venezuela ia ganhar! Apesar de estarmos torcendo pela Colombiana que era bem bafoneira e pela russa só por ela ser monga, ficamos muito felizes com a coroação da Venezuela PORQUE ELA TINHA TIQUE NERVOSO! Sim, se você assistiu o programa inteiro com toda a verdade jornalística no seu coração, você viu que a nova Miss Universo tem um tique horroroso de ficar arregalando os olhos!

Bem, pelo menos o tique dela não é colocar um shortinho jeans e espernear por aí! Beijos e se souberem quando é o Mister Universo nos avisem porque queremos MUITO cobrir o evento!

Eighty of the world's most beautiful women have converged on a stretch of the Vietnamese coast better known for war than glamour.

They were preparing for the 57th annual Miss Universe competition, which will be broadcast by NBC to millions of viewers across the globe on Sunday night.

Like her 84 million compatriots, Vietnam's 20-year-old contestant is hoping the show will let the world know about the new Vietnam, where commerce and fashion are thriving and war has become a fading memory.

"I want to introduce my country and my culture and our history to everybody," said Nguyen Thuy Lam, whose traditional costume is a Vietnamese ao dai, a colorful silk pantsuit. "I feel very confident when I wear the ao dai. I wish everyone would wear it and feel confident too."

The contest will be held in Nha Trang, a seaside city located next to a major American airbase during the Vietnam War, which ended in 1975.

Given the history of hostilities between the two nations, Miss USA Crystle Stewart has been impressed by the warmth of her Vietnamese hosts.

"The USA and Vietnam are working together, in cooperation and peace," said Stewart, a Texan who is writing a motivational book. "Hopefully we'll be role models for other countries."

The show will be co-hosted by British pop singer Mel B, known as "Scary Spice" during her days with the Spice Girls. She will be joined by American television personality Jerry Springer, host of "America's Got Talent" and a long-running tabloid talk show that often climaxes with angry guests cussing and brawling with one another.

Springer is clearly enjoying his new Miss Universe job.

"Whoa!" Springer said during an interview with The Associated Press on Saturday, as dozens of contestants strutted across the stage during a rehearsal. "This is a plum assignment."

The 80 contestants have been in Vietnam for nearly four weeks now, receiving intense coverage from the Vietnamese media as they met with local dignitaries, frolicked in their bikinis and participated in various charity events.

They were hard at work Saturday preparing for the show.

Miss Serbia, 21-year-old Bojana Boric, is eager to compete in the swimsuit competition.

"It's a very good feeling," said Boric, who enjoys modeling, cooking and extreme sports. "It's your moment. It's the moment when everyone will see your face, and everyone will remember."

Beauty pageants have been derided by many as exploitative of women, celebrating superficiality over substance. Sweden 2007 contestant dropped out after coming under pressure from pageant critics in her homeland, and the country is not sending a delegate this year.

But beauty contests are extremely popular in Vietnam, which is also hoping to host the 2010 Miss World competition.

After years of war and poverty, the country has been booming economically, and high-end cosmetics and fashion stores have sprouted up in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital, and Ho Chi Minh City, the country's southern business hub.

"It's great to have Miss Universe competition here in Vietnam," said 18-year-old high school student Nguyen Thi Kieu My. "It will help to promote Vietnam's image in the world and bring in more tourists."

Mel B has confirmed that she is planning to have children with her husband Stephen Belafonte.

The Spice Girl revealed that she is keen to expand her family with movie director Stephen within the next few years.

"Yeah, we definitely want children," Mel told Star magazine. "Not just yet - I think in a few years, definitely."

Mel married Belafonte in June last year, but did not announce her happy news until August.

She added: "I think marriage agrees with me - I'm happy all the time! We're the best of friends, which I think is one of the most important things in a successful marriage."

The star already has a nine-year-old daughter Phoenix with ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar, as well as 15-month-old daughter Angel from her short-lived relationship with Eddie Murphy.

Stephen Belafonte has a daughter named Giselle from a previous relationship.Angel's biological dad is actor Eddie Murphy.

 Trini-descended islandista Nia Long was absolutely working this plum-coloured dress. I loved everything about it - the rich colour, the daring back with just the two suspender-like straps down to the waist, the draped pockets at the sides, the plunging neckline - it was a winner from every direction. And of course, Nia herself is just fabulous - she really harkens back to the late 90s, early 'noughties' heyday of black romantic cinema featuring all those fabulous buppies - Love Jones, The Best Man, Soul Food ... what happened to those movies anyhow? There was a good run there in the late 90s.

Another islandista by descent, the half-Nevisian Mel B aka Scary Spice was also at the awards and showed off her fabulous body in this close-fitting champagne-coloured dress. As opposed to Nia's dress with its complex structure, this dress is deceptively simple but the gorgeous colour and Mel's great shape is all it needs.

Half-Jamaican and sometime dancehall songstress islandista Alicia Keys had three outfit changes on the night. First was her fuschia dress with the slight origami-like folds on the bodice that she rocked on the red carpet. Didn't so much like how the skirt of this fell - it wasn't quite a bubble shape, not quite straight... hmm. But the colour was definitely pretty.

Next was her performance outfit.

And... well!

Ms. Keys was never rail thin or anything but laaaaaawd gaad ... she a tek fowl pill or what? Since when she had all that bumper? I know her skinny jeans had to be struggling!

And third was her post-performance, acceptance dress - a beige number that would have been blah-ish were it not for the dramatic silver and gold embellishment running across the bodice and along the shoulder. Not everyone's cup of tea but I liked it. I like artistes to wear something a little daring and different. 

I wasn't sure whether to include this last one but I'm feeling generous. Islandista-by-marriage (though maybe not for much longer what with all the scandal facing her hubby, Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick) LisaRaye McCoy-Misick wore a great short metallic dress. Quite daring for a red carpet but allowable I think for a music show. And for a woman that is 40-pushing-41, she looks great!

81 of the most beautiful women around the globe are currently in Vietnam to compete for the most prestigious beauty title in the universe. Last year’s winner was Riyo Mori of Japan. The pageant was held in Bangkok that time.
