정도 인것 같다.

meebo와 비교해서 가장 먼저 보이는 불편한 점은
imo용 계정을 따로 가지고 있지 않아서
다중 계정을 한번에 접속할 수 없고
아이디와 비번을 매번 입력해야 할것 같은게
불편하게 느껴진다.

이외에도 meebo는 계속해서 발전해서
화상채팅, 게임, 블로그위젯(meebo chat), 대화방(meebo room) 같은 많은 장점이 있는것 같다.

후발로 나온 imo가 어떻게 meebo와 차별적으로 서비스를 키워갈지 지켜봐야 겠다.

Nein, ich fürchte... Antwort bekomm ich auch heute nicht. Sollte ich das jetzt persönlich nehmen?

1.) The first major change is that I changed the title of the blog. I think I needed to give it a fresh title and since my hope is that my blog will become more and more amazing as time goes on, I changed the title to reflect that attitude.

2.) I also took all five of my pre-existing blogs and merged them back into one blog...this blog. All my previous posts from all of my previous blogs are here and I also updated the categories, which I'll explain in #3.

3.) The categories have changed. Some have been added, some have been taken away, but in the end what I have are categories that make more sense.

4.) I put my "Meebo Me" widget back. I had Meebo here, then I took it away. Now its back, so my readers can chat with me when I am online.

5.) I changed the theme color to a nice black. I think it looks hot. Not literally.

6.) I also updated some of the feeds and badges for other services that I use. I took some off that I really don't use anymore. I added some that I didn't have before.

7.) I also made some minor improvements to make the blog look cleaner and nicer. For example, some of the widget titles that were all caps before are now NOT all caps.

I made these changes hoping that my blog would be more interesting and attract more readers. I also wanted to make my blog my hub for all things me. Plus its just easier to maintain one blog instead of five. In addition, I plan to post more often. My hope is that I can use this blog to stay in touch with family and friends, and also chat with people who share interests in the same subjects as me. I hope you, my readers, enjoy the changes and stay tuned for more updates.

Mit meebo kann man ein wenig chatten ohne ein Instant-Messaging-Programm wie ICQ downloaden zu müssen. Das meebo-Fenster zeigt an, wenn ich online (und bei meebo eingeloggt) bin. Dann können alle, die hier vorbeischauen Hallo sagen.
Ich denke nicht, dass ich dieses Widget wirklich brauche, aber im Rahmen von Lernen 2.0 wird eben fast alles ausprobiert, was einem auf den Bildschirm kommt.
Wieder deaktivieren ist schließlich kein Problem. (Nur das Abmelden bei den diversen Diensten ist oft nicht leicht zu finden...)

Übrigens, das netbib-Weblog hat meebo schon im Dezember 2006 entdeckt.

Ich habe vor ein paar Tagen das Widget "Meeboo" gefunden und in meinen Blog eingebunden.

Na ja vielleicht ist gefunden nicht das richtige Wort. Sagen wir mal ich habe es ausprobiert. Und siehe da meeboo.com ist ein wirklich nützliches Kommunikations Werkzeug:

1.) In meiner Navigationleiste auf der linken Seite findest du eine pinke Aufforderung "Red mit mir" (siehe Bild in diesem Beitrag). Hier kannst du sehen, ob ich gerade online bin oder nicht. Online bedeutet, dass ich mich auf der Seite von meeboo.com eingeloggt habe und du direkt mit mir reden kannst. Schreibe einfach einen Satz in das Feld "Type here and hit enter" und los gehts.

2.) Ich brauche keine Software wie ICQ, Pidgin... usw. um mit meinen Freund_innen online zu chatten. Bei meeboo.com lassen sich auch die Accountdaten von ICQ einlesen. Ich bin dann per ICQ und meeboo.com erreichbar.

Ich frage mich schon jetzt ganz gespannt, wer mich als erstes anschreibt. Du vielleicht?

You need Adobe AIR and then download Meebone. Just install it. You can login at Gtalk, Yahoo, ICQ, AIM, Meebo account and so on.

They all have one thing in common; connecting people - whether by broadcasting what you are doing, expressing yourself, blogging, asking questions, maintaining a web-based public profile or just communicating to individuals on the other side of some arbitrary distance over the internet.

And one thing is very evident from this and that is that the world is a whole lot smaller; way way smaller. In fact in one person could in all likelihood know any other person through a very small number of sequential relationships. There is a theory called six degrees of separation that is the idea [that if a person is one step away from each person they know and two steps away from each person who is known by one of the people they know, then everyone is an average of six "steps" away from each person on Earth (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_degrees_of_separation)]

This is a scary idea, because Jesus said in Matthew 24:14: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" It was always thought that the world was small because one could, with relative ease, travel to any place in a short space of time. Yet now one does not have to travel to communicate to any person or to any group of people. Even with Videos and now DVDs of sermons so readily available; preaching of the Word of God is not restricted to a physical location and the availability of a preacher.

Ok, this may not hold true for the subsistence farmer in Tibet who does not know what a DVD is or what social networking means. But you may know that farmer thru the theory of 'six degrees of separation' and maybe, as a Christian, your interaction with people may indirectly affect that farmer. It's a long shot, but would it not be cool to find that that was actually the case when you get to Heaven. Awesome.

And now in this modern age of networking, we can interact with people without knowing it. We can write a blog, post a comment, submit a video, tweet, or maybe podcast, and in so doing make an investment into someone's life that will cause a chain reaction to Salvation. This by no means takes anything away from the Holy Spirit - firstly because whoever created these social networks were gifted by God to create them and secondly it is God's work in them that ultimately brings them to Salvation, everything else is just a tool or a means to the hopeful end result.

I think that it is really cool to be working in the video side of things as a volunteer for God (essentially) , to be aware of what can be done for the purpose of Salvation in the realm of Social Networking for both video and audio. I see churches making podcasts available of sermons on iTunes, I see cool video being posted in blogs and video sites that just show God off in awesome ways. Some of the most influential  of Churches have regular blogs and tweets where you can see pretty much anything discussed from family, creativity and actual video work done for the Church.

However there is quite a weight of responsibility on  Christians in such environments of social networking, firstly because such environments are conducive to the pushing of moral boundaries, just visiting YouTube casually can result in an unnecessary temptation, it is unfortunate that this is the case. Secondly there is that pressure that can be placed on you to keep the facade up of the perfect Christian whenever you post something. Hmmm, we were watching On Location by Andy Stanley in our Community Group, and one of the things that came up was this idea that a little bit of righteousness goes a long way - as in the case of Sodom and Gomorrah when Abraham 'argued' with God to spare the people if only 10 were righteous in a town of about 800 - that almost only 1%. That may well be the case for the online community - that there is only 1% Christians. The fact that you are there may play a role in an unsaved individual, that maybe your just being there may go a long way to saving them, or even better - playing an active role in being righteous in the the environment of social networking will go a whole lot further.

As for the Church playing a role in reaching the lost within the online networks, one thing that is certain is that it takes only one seeker to find a place where God is and be found for it to be really worth while. Ok that sounded strange. What I think is that the Church has an important role to play for God in the online community in the form of a corporate involvement (Church Web Site, Sermon downloads etc) and individual involvement ( personal blogs, videos, tweets, etc). And just being online, even reaching someone without knowing it can actually reach further that the theory of six degrees of separation - that maybe the subsistence farmer in Tibet has an internet connection and he reads your blog.

You won't need to install anything or give personal information to third parties.  It's quite simple.

There is NO 100% POSITIVE WAY TO TELL IF SOMEONE HAS OR HAS NOT BLOCKED YOU ON MSN / WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER but the method below should increase your chances of knowing who has blocked you.

1. Open Windows Live Messenger > Contacts > Save Instant Messaging Contacts.  Save it somewhere convenient like the desktop and call it 'contacts.ctt) (the file will have a .ctt extenstion automatically.)
2. Start a new Windows Live / MSN / Hotmail Account under a pseudonym which looks like a relatively common name and fill out a common name on the form, for example, johnadams78@hotmail.com with the name 'John Adams'  When signing up for the account do not enter REAL PERSONAL INFORMATION or you'll be found out.
3. Sign into MSN Messenger / Windows Live Messenger with the new username but before you do SIGN IN AS 'APPEAR OFFLINE.' You will never sign in as being online in this account (unless you have twisted aims.)
4. This time go to Contacts > Import Instant Messaging Contacts and browse for the file you saved in Step 1 and import the list.
5. All the people on the list will recieve the invite box for MSN / Windows Live Messenger and if you have some sort of generic name and e-mal address that doesn't seem suspicious, they will more than likely accept.  If they don't, then this method is down the toilet.
6. As the contacts accept the invites, they will pop up as being online but they won't see you because you will be appearing offline.  You will know they have blocked you because a) their name / personal message on MSN / WLM will have changed OR you sign into your original MSN / WLM account and compare the two lists.  You can sign into 2 msn / WLM accounts by signing in on the program and online for the other account; this can be done at MSN Webmessenger , Meebo.com OR eBuddy.com or e-Messenger.net.  If contacts send you e-mails or offline instant messages asking who you are, just don't reply and they'll undoubtedly forget about it.

Well, recently I started seeing some mentions of them on sites like Read/Write Web so I wanted to find out what was up.

First of all, I was blown away. Second of all, I found I was so interested in the fact that this company has more than 20 million 35 million people using its services and most for hours every day (I heard the number wrong, and they corrected me this morning). Yet you probably don't know Meebo's CEO's name. Unless you're on the service you probably don't even know about it.

Which is why I spent 40 minutes videoing a conversation with Meebo's CEO, Seth Sternberg, learning about what's happening in its business. This is like an MBA-level course on the latest advertising and community trends.  I also got a separate tour of their offices, if you want to see what those are like.

This is why I do video. It's one thing to read a blog post, it's a whole nother thing to get a demo, have a conversation, and learn some new stuff. As good as the Read/Write Web post is, I never got an understanding of how and why advertising on Meebo is working so well. Any entrepreneur who is trying to make an advertising business model work should watch this interview for some tips.

So, why is Meebo underhyped? We talked about that after the cameras were off and I theorized one theory:

That A-list bloggers don't use IM or chat much, so don't get passionate about it the way they do about, say, Twitter (although Twitter has about 1/10th as much traffic).

Seth countered and said that's probably true, but that he's noticed that most of his users are on Internet Explorer, not Firefox or Safari. So, the audience that's using IM is much more mainstream than the audience that most tech bloggers hang out with.

Which points to another thing I'm learning here. If you are an entrepreneur and you want to reach a mainstream audience, you should hang out on Meebo more to do your research, not on Twitter or FriendFeed.

I'm thinking of ways we could use this internally, in addition to possible reference purposes. If you knew someone would be at a computer, you could send them updates or files as needed.

In big libraries this might be nice instead of having to call someone like the branch manager for help, you could just ask them the question on IM.
