kamera lomo memang menghasilkan jepretan yang berbeda. tampilan gambarnya unik dan berbeda. misalnya saja, satu frame jepretan memuat sekaligus empat gambar, berurutan, seperti film. hasil lainnya, sekali jepret langsung menghasilkan sembilan obyek yang sama persis. tanpa adobe photoshop, kamera ini langsung menghasilkan keunikannya sendiri.

kamera lomo memang bukan bikinan pabrikan nikon, canon, olympus ... kamera lomo bikinan Lomographische AG, Austria. konon, pabrikan ini membuat beragam peralatan fotografi. tapi lantaran bukan pabrik kamera, kamera buatan mereka dianggap gagal.

tapi sebenernya kamera ini unik.

bodi kamera lomo dari plastik. dus, enteng banget buat dibawa kemana-mana. itu sebabnya, kamera lomo ini mendapat sebutan lain sebagai toy camera. ada yang sudah dilengkapi kamera flash, ada pula yang belum. memotretnya juga tak harus dari lubang intipan atau view finder. malah mereka menjepret sembarangan, bahkan membidik dari pinggul. makanya, jangan heran kalau satu dari sepuluh aturan lomo internasional adalah: shoot from your hip.

pendeknya sih: kalau Eastman Kodak punya konsep "Kodak moment", maka Lomography punya konsep "don't think, just shoot".

jenis kamera lomo beragam. misalnya Holga kit, Colorsplash camera, Horizon 202, Pop 9, Action sampler, Cybersampler, Super Sampler, 3D Camera set, Smena 8 dan Seagull TLR. banderolnya antara Rp 500.000 sampai Rp 6 juta per unit. pabrikan lomo juga mengeluarkan beragam aksesori yang unik. salah satunya, flash warna-warni.

salah satu ciri khas kamera Lomo adalah sangat sensitif pada cahaya dan warna. makanya, kamera Lomo lebih oke dipakai untuk luar ruang.

jeszcze kilka skanów z mojego superlomo. dzięki jednej z cudownych właściwości tego nie mniej cudownego aparatu, jaką jest ciągłe zacinanie się, na powyższym zdjęciu podziwiać można nawet coś w rodzaju podwójnej ekspozycji ;)

miałam dziś pracowity dzień i moim jedynym marzeniem jest zagrzebanie się w poduszkach i pójście spać. dobranoc więc.

naczekałam się dziś na te cholerne wyniki ostatniego egzaminu, ale chyba warto było czekać, chociażby dla tej dumnej czwórki pomiędzy tymi wszystkimi dwójami i trójami w indeksie. jestem wolnym, szczęśliwym człowiekiem, po raz pierwszy mam normalne wakacje, a niedokończony pierwszy rok z dniem dzisiejszym idzie w zapomnienie. grejt.

oprócz tego, że się naczekałam, nachodziłam się też dziś sporo. znów przeszliśmy z Dawidem może z pół Lublina. efekty spaceru będą jak już wywołam moją pierwszą rolkę z fiszaja. aj aj, nie mogę się doczekać. jak dokończę drugą, to prawdopodobnie tych efektów będzie jeszcze więcej ;)
poza tym jakiś czarny dzień nastał jeśli chodzi o pogodę, bo o ile rano było zimno i szaro, o tyle po południu, po paru godzinach słońca i upału, spadł tak ulewny deszcz, że do powrotnego busa wsiadałam już jako miss mokrego podkoszulka (i nie tylko podkoszulka).

I went to collect my lomo pictures today, and was introduced to the uber Russian-cool Lomo Kompakt Automat 35mm camera. I would just love to own one and go around saying, "Wanna check out my Russian spy camera?"

I picked it up and held it to my eye and the aunty chided me saying, "Spy camera cannot like that la!", and proceeds to do her best Russian spy impersonation, flashing the camera around randomly and surreptitiously snapping away.

The Lomo, short for Lomo Kompakt Automat, a cheap compact 35mm camera made in St Petersburg, Russia in the early 1980s, was originally intended for use by KGB agents due to its high light sensitivity under nighttime conditions. Instead of being used for covert purposes, millions of Lomos were mass-produced for the Soviet market and for export to Vietnam, Cuba and East Germany. Then, a group of Viennese artists, who had bought the cameras in Czechoslovakia, fell in love with the cameras and formed the Lomographic Society in Europe, sparking a massive trend in photography.

ps. i just ordered my first camera - a vivitar ultrawide and slim - from ebay. the seller just emailed me to confirm it's shipment TODAY. oooh, life is good. i better stock up on film. when i go back to the philippines sometime this month, i might purchase an actionsampler and maybe even a holga 120. let's see.

pierwsze próbki z supersamplera. oczywiście niesamowity gumowy wizjer dołączony do zestawu został usunięty od razu po zakupie, bo właściwie i tak do niczego się nie nadawał^^ poza tym zdjęcia z mojego superlomo wychodzą tak psychodeliczne, że nie mogę opanować radości za każdym razem, kiedy je oglądam. nie ma to jak kupić sobie fajną zabawkę i po prostu się nią cieszyć :)

sesja już za mną. brakuje mi jeszcze wyniku jednego egzaminu, ale myślę, że w tym roku - po raz pierwszy zresztą - obejdzie się bez poprawek. dałam radę. oprócz tego w czasie, kiedy nie pojawiałam się na blogu (gdyż jak zwykle nie miałam dostępu do szatańskiego internetu), zdążyłam zabić swojego laptopa, przywrócić go do życia (to właściwie zasługa panów z serwisu), zrobić pierwsze zlecenie na zdjęcia, za które w dodatku dostałam trochę pieniędzy, znaleźć normalne (sic!) mieszkanie i przemierzyć Lublin wzdłuż i wszerz z Dawidem. mówiłam już, że w tym roku uwielbiam czerwiec? ;)

Vēl Berlīne nav iedomājama bez grafiti - tie dažādās kvalitātēs ir gandrīz visur. Grāmatnīcās un suvenīrveikalos ir bilžu grāmatas, un nejauši ieklīdu kvartālā pie Oranienburger ielas ar pāris mājām, kas no vienas vietas  aprakstītas un apzīmētas, 90-tajos kalpojušas kā skvoti māksliniekiem. Vislabākais, protams, ir pagalms ar bāriņiem, beņķiem, dīvāniem, riepu kamerām un saulessargiem, kur atvilkt elpu no karstuma. Te arī tagad ir mākslinieku darbnīcas-veikaliņi ar gleznām, drēbēm un pastkartēm, viens no māksliniekiem metina kārtējo metāla brīnumu, ir arī kino, klubi par kuru esamību var nojaust nevis pēc izkārtnēm, bet gan pēc lielām metāla durvīm, kas no vienas vietas aplīmētas ar plakātiem vai grafiti zīmējumiem.

Hostelī istabiņā iepazinos ar Čārlzu no Austrālijas, kas tik kā beidzis arhitektūras studijas, un tagad ceļo apkārt. Viņam soma pilna ar nitro krāsu bunduļiem, un, kad jautāju, vai viņš kaut ko uzzīmējis, kautri atzīstas, ka esot ar saviem vācu draugiem vienā parkā mazu uztaisījis. Rādīja foto aparātā bildes - kādi 50% no tām ir grafiti zīmējumi dažādās valstīs.

Nākamajā rītā pamostoties visi mani istabiņasbiedri jau bija aizbraukuši - kājgalī atradu flaieri, kas ļauj iegūt hosteļa bārā vienu alus glāzi par brīvu. Ņemot vērā, ka vakarā Latvijā būtu svinēts Līgo vakars, nodomāju: "Cik mīļi!"

At this rate, nothing is motivating me to pack my suitcase for tomorrow's flight back to Malaysia. It's only been three hours since I woke up, and I'm already feeling tired. The cold winter weather doesn't help at all. It could also be the thoughts of being trapped on a plane for about eight hours with such a small space to sit in. I have this growing fear of having a dead iPod on board, or not being able to sleep with under five hours of sleep the night before. On top of that, I don't really see the point of going back to Malaysia for two and a half weeks. My friends are here in Sydney, and I don't really have anything I want to do when I get back (other than download music and more Doctor Who). But maybe I'm just overreacting.

Look what arrived in the mail? A new addition to my lomo family -- say hello to my new (second-hand) Smena Symbol. Arrived in the mail three weeks after I won it on eBay, all the way from Ukraine. I paid more on postage than on the camera, but all together it didn't cost me alot. I'm having alot of trouble understanding the manual though, it's very complex. The camera's functions are all in Russian, which doesn't make it easy to understand it. I've pretty much given up on the manual, so I put in a roll of 24 exposures to test it out. Hope this turns out to be a better first roll compared to my other lomo first-attempts.

My last couple of days here haven't been as exciting as I hoped it would be. Thought I'd revisit a post I made a week or two ago of things I would like to achieve before tomorrow.

what I wanted to achieve by tomorrow, Sunday the 29th of June:

1. Shopping for summer-ish clothing with my very own fashionista and fellow sailor Genesis (once he feels better from that horrid cold).
2. See an art exhibition!
3. Meet with old friend Carlos for the first time.
4. Redevelop my calluses on a nylon-strung classical guitar.
5. Take the EOS through the city for some street life photography.
6. Unpack remaining boxes from old apartment.
7. Bedtime by 2am, haha.
8. Buy Ji-Han a pair of white Raben shoes, with laces. (Don’t forget, self!)
9. Survive the 27th-29th of June when Riana comes to stay with me at the apartment. Just the two of us, sigh.

here's what I did achieve since then, the 18th of June:

1. Managed to keep my wardrobe exactly the same - no new additions, sad.
2. Visit the NSW Art Gallery for the first time, to have coffee with Anne Marie (old boarding house mistress). They're exhibiting Monet's work from October the 11th, yes.
3. Hung out with old friend Carlos for the first time. We hung out from Thursday 6pm to Friday 7am. Impressive, no?
4. Allowed my calluses to heal from playing the guitar last week. Haha, damn.
5. Cooked pizza. Yum.
6. Found Doctor Who's Season 4 Christmas Special Voyage of the Damned at Videoezy, thank goodness. That's one less thing I need to download when I get back to Malaysia.
7. Two new albums: Kaiser Chiefs' Employment and Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head. I got them both for 20 bucks! I love hand me downs!
8. Managed to not achieve more than half of last week's list of things to do. What an achievement.

Eventhough I didn't manage to complete all that I'd listed last week, it's been good. I think going back may be a good thing for me. Perhaps it's a subconscious desire of mine to be in a new environment. Perhaps that's all I need right now. Just a little bit of humidity in my hair. Some sweltering, hot weather. A bit of cable television, and uncapped internet access. Local food, and the increased possibilities of food poisoning. Hm, perhaps.

I must leave now. EJ's coming over to eat my leftovers. Bless him. Till next time, toodles.

With some sticky, warm, days ahead I thought that this was a good weekly image to post. Boy it was cold that day in March. A massive snow storm was looming so I took the opportunity to take the Holga for a walk before we got snowed in. Fun stuff. We got enough snow that weekend to last us all winter. Thankfully my neighbor plowed our driveway before we got home. 4 foot snowbanks at the road....see Im getting cold just thinking of it!!

I'm really pleased at how beautifully this one turned out from what was some pretty ordinary subject matter.  Good old Spilt-Cam.
