I made my weekly trip to Home Depot. This time I was on a mission for paint. Im getting ready to paint my bedroom. I found a very pretty color of lilac. Lilac Bouquet to be exact.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I like to do things the easiest and fastest way possible. I was just about ready to lay down some dough for a paint sprayer, when the salesperson tells me "Its really not meant for indoor painting". Oh well, I guess I will have to exert some energy and use the roller.

To some peoples horror, I am actually going to paint over knotty pine. Im sorry but my entire house is knotty pine. Walls, ceiling, and closets. Its just too much. I cant take it anymore.

Tomorrow will be busy. I hope to finish in one day. Wish me luck.

Date: 7/9/08 Weather: 79 degrees, drizzly

Comments: Top - WOW! Lilacs sprinkled with lily of the valley and doused with a citric fruit salad (maybe the peach/citrus combo). There is something about this that smells mighty familiar. Within 10 minutes - the rose takes over, with the lilacs helping. This comes across as much lighter than expected. And more like violets (though there appear to be none in the notes). 20 minutes in - the sandalwood appears. Reminds me of Bois de Iles. After 40 minutes, sandalwood, violets, a hint of powder, lilacs. Sticks around for about 5 hours.

Shaved my legs (and some other bits) in the shower today.
And there's nothing nicer than the feel of stockings on freshly shaved legs.
So today it's a black and lilac thong with sheer black hold-ups.
Just the job for a long day at work.

This city smells good. I mean it's just delicious. And in total contrast to my high-anxiety mode entered into each time I step into the crowded streets, this week, I feel calm as the scent mimics the effect of lilac or lavender. Could it be the crepe myrtle in full bloom?

Unser Snorre - ein Britisch Kurzhaar Kater(chen) in der sehr schönen Farbe red white - bringt seine Schwester "Sweet as Candy" ganz schön zum stauen...

Er findet alles und jeden äußerst interessant und ist dabei, alles zu entdecken !

Snorre ist jetzt 13 Wochen alt, 2 x geimpft und mehrmals entwurmt.
Seinen "Personalausweiß" = Stammbaum hat er auch bereits erhalten und somit ist er bereit,
auf die Große Reise ins neue Zuhause zu gehen...

Nur hat er dieses noch nicht gefunden :-(

Heute hat unser Oregano Geburtstag!
Er ist 6 Jahre alt geworden, ... , Zeit um in Rente zu gehen, oder ?
In seiner ca. 5 jährigen Berufstätigkeit als Deckkater hat er so manche Damen beglückt und ist vielfacher Vater geworden. Seine Kinder und auch seine mittlerweile Enkelkinder sind teilweise erfolgreich in so manche Zuchten aktiv... Wir werden Oregano zu Ehren einmal uns die Zeit nehmen und ein sogenanntes "Poezenbook" erstellen.

Somit ist unser Bagoas Oregano auf der Suche nach einem Altersruhesitz...

Auf diesem Bild ist er noch sehr jung gewesen... :-)

Comments: I have worn this once before and didn't remember it. So I put it in my "to try again" pile. Especially since I had no notes on it. Put it on - Oil of Olay. And it didn't change. Lotion. The entire time. Bleck. 2 hours later - finally burns of the lotion to a pretty orris and musk. 3 hours later - more lilac and musk. Stays this way for the duration (at least 4 more hours). Not a big fan of lotiony or soapy scents. This goes in the swap pile.

Pottering and new bag

Today I was off work because I am ill :( I have a cold and feel horrid, boohoo

I did a bit of pottering, it was quite relaxing. The lonely poppy and the lilac tree in my garden have flowered, which was a nice suprise when I looked out of the kitchen window this morning.

I also did one of my to-do list things, and made a new bag. The old one was getting tatty, and I got some nice fabric from Liberty of London. It's really expensive there, but it's full of lovely stuff.

The new bag in all its glory :)

I used the shoulder bag tutorial from http://www.tinyhappy.typepad.com/, I used it before to make my previous bag, and as a project with my sister. I love this bag, it's the perfect size and shape and super easy to make. I've added more pockets this time, you can never have too many pockets :)

Most lilacs in the region I'm in, bloom in early May. My lilac bush blooms in June.

My dad (an expert in many areas including plants), tells me this is perfectly normal. He says it's just a less common type of lilac that blooms later.

So, my lilac is a late bloomer...but I'm OK with that, because when she does bloom, she's beautiful and well worth the wait.

Unfortunately, the bees like my late bloomer too! That's another nest you don't want to mess with.

Green Thumb Sunday

We've been busy again this week.

We've spent an outrageous amount of money to fill our window boxes and put in hours of back-breaking labor to HALFWAY finish a small flower bed. Halfway! Ugh. You are looking at Wubby and our peonies :) I'm so jealous of all the pretty gardens I've been seeing others post. We'll get there too, one day . . .

How soon we get there may depend upon the quality of labor our assorted volunteers contribute! Here is our alyssum sprouts after Shiloh "helped" dig them.

And here you see our lawn boy after he's mowed many of our MILES of lawn. (If you think shoveling is back breaking, you should attempt to mow with my little man's help! lol)

I have discovered many, many wild strawberries growing about and I found a tiny little lilac bush - Yay! Now I just need to pamper the bush.
