Blueskin Bay Library July 2008

Blueskin Bay library (part of the Dunedin Public Libraries network) is a great place to visit these school holidays. If you're looking for a warm and friendly place to take the kids, come visit us at your local library!

Kids made all sorts of things related to the theme 'where nothing is as it seems' and discovered a lot about visual tricks, and optical illusions.

This book is about the life and travels of a New Zealand missionary nurse's adventure in Indonesia and Africa. We join Major Winsome Ferguson through her stories of triumphs, tragedies, deaths, miracles, floods, personal hardships and sacrifices.

This book is a 'must read' and we were very fortunate to have a copy donated by Allison Rudd.

Growing up, marrying, making friends, having children and her struggles to work as a writer during early feminist days in 1970's New Zealand, are described very vividly.

A second book, on the next part of the author's life, is planned, and I await this with interest.
