Let's get this show on the road! First off, Aquos Intellectus Blobbus, or the Aquatic Intellectual Blob, this monster is remarkably similar to the last monster of Monsterday 3, although it adapted to water. These monsters are internet goers and use the five Starbucks in the Atlantic Ocean for free Wi-Fi. I had a blog posting alliance with one recently, but it tried to eat my brain. Here's an example of speech:

"I think that I’m going to change this image (the one for non-logged in users) with shock images (I have a pet GOAT if you know what I mean."

The brain mass of this monster is slightly smaller because lightning can not reach its head bolts. As for brain draining, this monster typically preys upon divers and sailors who's boat crashed (ever heard of the USS Indianapolis?). Without an artificial straw for the draining of brains, these monsters have tentacles to grab prey from far away.

Next, Pointus Medusas Tiggerus Hypnotus, or the Hypnotic Medusa Arrowhead Spring-Monster. These monsters tend to complain. Families of this species are close, and they usually go on ships as one group. Also, they can live for well over 100 years and remain able-bodied. The last two sentences state why these monsters are in the monster Navy. One ship filled with the species sailed to my blog for supplies because it's obvious that my blog is a port city, and I heard one of them say this:

"Mom! He won’t stay on his side of the warship!”

Another reason these things are in the monster Navy: They're killing machines! They have arms that can support heavy amounts of weight, such as heavy machine guns, they can move quickly because of their spring, when in close combat, they can either turn their enemies to stone or hypnotize them to turn on their own allies, and they are living torpedoes! In a naval battle these things will open hatches on the sides of the ship, pull their bodies back, and spring over into the enemy ship. From here, they can do 2 things:

1. Explode
2. Miss

Avoid these things at all costs!

Wow, I've used a lot of words already. I'm at about 400 now. Let's continue with...

Rataillicus Hornus, or the Rat-Tailed Horned Monster. I'll say this right now: these monsters are horribly stupid. Other than what I witnessed it say:

Typical speech for this species is:

"Derrrrrr!"

These monsters are also pretty fast, and their arms aren't very long, usually making them charge with their horns when in combat, making them perfect for monster bull fights! If you intend see one of these, do not wear anything turquoise, for that is the color that it charges at. A fun thing to do is give it a "peace" offering. If one approaches you, give it a marshmallow peep. Those things are like peanut butter to a dog. It'll run around in a circle licking at the roof of their mouth.

Next up, Feminus Crabbicus Standardus, or the Standard Lipstick-Wearing Crab Monster. This monster is very strange in speech and in manner. One of them commented on a post of mine involving a dreaded lolcat and said:

"LOL AWSOME! ILL REVEIW THIS . . ."

When it said that it was going to review something, I followed it back to its lair and found no blogs in sight.

Like most of the Crabbicus family, they are mostly elusive or extinct. Expeditions into undersea caves, where these monsters are thought to live, have failed because of attacks by Aquos Intellectus Blobbus. This might show some sort of union between the two monsters. OR the monsters are just hungry for some more brains. Meh.

I'll finish things off with Hovereer Orbus Vampirus, or the Hovering Vampire Orb. Despite their name, these monsters are very peaceful and have complimented me on my blog before, saying:

"hehe - that was funny!"

Because they are vampires, they tend to only drain blood from badgers, raccoons, and wombats (Pancake?). Although they can get used to this type of blood (Pancake, are you alright?), they can sometimes be driven mad by the urge to drink human blood and will go on a frenzy, killing everyone in sight (Oh, God, PANCAKE!).

I have to go! I think one of them just killed Pancake!

To many, the Spartans were representing a near invincible army of brute force. They have been praised to the point of being legendary, and recently, 300, a movie mostly focused the famous battle of Thermopylae, was made.

Unfortunately to the 300 fans, it was revealed yesterday that the Spartan force never actually fought at Themopylae. In fact, it is believed they never fought in their entire life. A team of Australian archaeologists were searching for ancient Greek remnants and found many skeletons wearing Spartan gear. After some weeks, scientists declared that they were in fact the Spartans. Some years ago, not very far from there, some other scientists had found an ancient book depicting the Spartan army as being one of the most useless army ever conceived. From this day, it was considered as a hoax.

The man who actually found the bodies ( a guy named Gary ) is an historian and he was very upset with his own findings: " I believe it's a shame that the Spartans were so dumb and naive. I was truly believing the stories about them, but then, it turned out to be all fake. ". Our reporters had the opportunity of reading the ancient book about the *real* Spartans not so long ago. Here is a translated version of an excerpt:

" I was there. I, Bognus the one-legged, was there. I saw everything. Leonidas first put his helmet backwards. I told him that he wasn't wearing it the right way, and the only thing he replied was " I'm Leonidas, I'm a king, I know how to put an helmet on my head! ". He then walked away but, since he couldn't see anything with his helmet, he slipped on a banana pelt. His soldiers were all standing at the edge of a cliff, looking at Xerxes' troops coming from the sea. They all fell, grabbing each other, trying to keep themselves from falling - but failing. Dar de ce este Traian Basescu fraier? Pentru ca a crezut ca poate realiza ce nu a reusit Ion Iliescu, un nou partid unic, infailibil, omnipotent si perfect democratic. Pentru ca a renuntat in pripa la alianta cu liberalii supraevaluandu-si indicele de popularitate. Pentru ca si-a facut adversari gratuiti in presa. Pentru ca nu a stiut sa gestioneze politica externa a Romaniei. Pentru ca si-a asociat numele cu persoane dubioase. Pentru ca in loc sa fie presedinte jucator in adevaratul sens al cuvantului, a fost presedinte jucator de barbut... Pentru ca a incercat sa distruga PNL prin orice mijloace, in loc sa-si concentreze energia creatoare in scopuri benefice... si nu in ultimul rand, pentru ca l-a lasat pe Sarkozy sa ne ia stiloul!!! :))

Stiti care e partea frumoasa? Am scris articolul asta de ciuda! Traian Basescu ar fi putut fi un presedinte mare, daca nu ar fi avut preocupari mici. Dar calitatea intrinseca de a fi "neam prost" ... e ca ascentul la zodii: cand esti mic esti Fecioara, cand cresti mari, te transformi in...

Cá estou eu para um novo embate épico! Desta vez serei épico mesmo pois escolhi dois personagens de dois épicos do cinema: Leonidas de 300 e Maximus de Galdiador

Este combate de guerreiros seria no mínimo insano pois são dois personagesn com muito peso tanto em carisma quanto em técnicas de luta. O Leonidas, rei de Sparta, gerreiro nato, muito macho! Enfrentou centenas de persas, comandou os caras mais neuróticos da grécia antiga, deu porrada em gigantes deformados, soldados imortais e madou o rei persa Xerxes, de 3m de altura, e a versão metrossexual do capeta plantar coquinho. O cara é foda mesmo desafiou os oráculos dos deuses e foi guerrear. Tudo isso só de sunga!

Maximus era o general fodão do exercito romano, ganhou um monte de batalhas pelo César, foi traido e trasnformado em escravo, voltou pra Roma e virou heroi de novo como gladiador. Derrotava os inimigos tão rapidamente que num tinha mais graça pra plateia. Enfrentou os melhores gladiadores do Coliseu e num perdeu nenhuma, inclusive contra armadilhas, tigres e bigas. O cara recebeu um ferimento mortal, e mesmo assim desceu o sarrafo no imperador romano.

Vamos as fichas técnicas dos caras. Leonidas é um especialista em combate corporal, é bom com a espada e incrivel com a lança como um autentico espartano. tem um senso de batalha incrivel e uma honra inabalável. O cara sabe usar um escudo para ataque e defesa. O cara tambem sabe se virar muito bem em grupo, comandando muito bem seus combatentes. Leonidas tem a batalha no sangue espartano e um orgulho que o tornam perigoso e ligeiramente suicida.

Maximus é incrivel em combate corpo a corpo tambem. Sabe usar a espada, curta e longa. Tambem comanda um exército de forma incrivel e temuma honra semalhante a de Leonidas. Ao contrário do espartano, Maximus não tem um instinto tão suicida e assassino e mais movido pela vingança do que pelo seu orgulho. Mas como Maximus perdeu sua familia ele tambem não tem nada a perder e esta disposto a qualquer coisa para conseguir o que quer.

Vamos ao combate. Leonidas teria a vantagem da distancia se começasse usando a lança. Como o cara consegue combinar a lança com o escudo seria difícil acerta-lo. Porém Maximus não é bobo e ia dar um jeito de encurtar as coisas. Na briga de espadas ai o bicho ia pegar! Leonidas e Maximus sabem usar muito bem a espada. Os dois iriam se degladiar por horas sem acertar um ao outro. Seria um combate insano e nervoso. Os dois são do tipo que não tem nada a perder então eles fariam coisas como quebrar o próprio braço para certar o outro, ou se deixar ferir para criar uma oportunidade. Enfim seria briga de macho!

Neste combate tambem não me arrisco a dizer quem venceria. Afinal os dois tem muito potencial. Mas seria um combate épico de qualquier forma. Inte mais pessoal. Esperem por mais combates eletrizantes

P.S. Tudo Bem, derrotar Comodos não foi nenhuma vantagem pois ele estava em um nivel muito abaixo de Maximus, mas convenhamos, o cara tava morrendo!

P.S. O Xerxes ficou tão bizarro que muitos historiadores torceram o nariz para o Rodrigo Santoro cheio de brincos

P.S. Acho que o Maximus teria vantagem, apesar da sainha, o cara usa armadura né enquanto Leonidas conta só com um escudo e uma sunginha....

No es perfecto, hay veces que el efecto del sable láser no sigue bien la trayectoria de la espada de Leonidas, pero si me ha dado una muy grata sorpresa. Ya tenemos terreno abonado para proximas superproducciones. si fueron capaces de sacarse de la manga los tres primeros capitulos de la guerra de las galaxias. porque no retroceder mas, bastante mas y hacer un simil de la epoca, con sus viajes epicos o interestelares.

Please keep in mind that I have never been able to surprise Secret Government name “Leonidas” (because my lucky ass has a hubby that looks like the dude from 300) with anything. EVER. He has a secret government job that enables him to read minds and see through walls, so he is wicked scary. Therefore, the fact that I had kept those tickets tucked away was something for me to be proud of! Yeah, not anymore. I told him all about ‘em. You may be thinking, “When, pray tell, did you do this?”  LAST NIGHT! That is correct. The night before. You may also want to ask, “Why, dumb ass, did you tell him?” He asked me. Yep. I caved on the 30th day. No water torture, no electric shock, not even a twitch of the eyelid. He just asked me, his beautiful blue eyes searching my not so beautiful, not so blue eyes for the truth, and I rolled on myself. I don’t think he even believes me at this point, since it was way too easy. I embarrass myself.

Oh well! At least it’s a concert and not the fact that I maxed out the credit cards on www.woot.com , right? RIGHT!!?!? I can’t resist funny t-shirts.....

300, Hollywood's version of the battle, portrays King Leonidas and his Spartans as men who were fit, hardened warriors bent on victory. Herodotus, a Greek historian, glossed over the battle's facts and even the entire 5th century BC Spartan culture, creating a misconception of Sparta. The truth is Spartans were a gluttonous people, known at their time for their carefree partying and consumption of immoderate amounts of food and drink. The most boisterous of all was King Leonidas.

During the Battle of Thermopylae, Leonidas stayed to fight Persia with 300 Spartans, 700 Thespian volunteers, 400 Thebans that had been pressed into service, and 900 Helots. Instead of fighting off the Persian army, the 2,300 drunkards held off the Spartan peasants who were fleeing from the invading Persian Empire.

After three days of watching Leonidas fight off the peasants, Xerxes of Persia directed his army down a path that led them behind the Spartan army. Xerxes learned of the path through Ephialtes, a citizen of Sparta who had been cheated by Leonidas in a game of barroom darts.

Leonidas died during the battle, not by the sword, but by his culture's gluttony. His cholesterol levels coupled with his refusal to put down his leather pouch of pork rinds caused Leonidas to suffer a debilitating heart attack.

The greatness of Leonidas is unquestionable, he was a true barroom hero. Not the respectable measure of greatness known to many.

Aqui como se que os gusta a muchos el cachondeo os dejo una parodia de 300 que se que a mucha gente le gusta las parodias de las peliculas, he elegido esta porque me hace reir y eso es dificil por ello espero que os guste con todo el corazon de un cachondo como yo.

Espero que os guste, un saludo desde la chabola del rock, es que no llega el dinero para ladrillo.

¿Preparando ya las vacaciones de verano? Normal, es mejor ir reservando ahora para luego no juntarse con todo el mogollón de hoteles, excursiones, coches de alquiler... En fin que os voy a proponer un destino maravilloso. Disfrutad de vuestras vacaciones en Spartaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Lo primero, un poco de geografía. ¿Dónde está Sparta?

Oh, ¡aquí está! Este simpático nativo con ojitos de psycho-killer es nuestro querido Leónidas, rey electo de Sparta. ¿Que cómo es posible? Pues bien, en esta pintoresca ciudad existe de antiguo la institución de la monarquía y es muy respetada por la gente. El problema surgió cuando el periódico local The Daily Spartan destapó unas incómodas imágenes en las que se veían sorprendidos en la intimidad el antiguo rey, Bushos Georgidas II, y el mayor enemigo de Sparta, el rey Jerjenineiyad I.

Esto no gustó nadita a la opinión pública, y el gobierno espartano se vio obligado a CTRL+ALT+DEL al anterior rey y a fijar que, a partir de entonces, el rey sería elegido por la gente. Se desató una terrible campaña electoral de la que salió triunfador Leónidas, el simpático barbudo de la foto.

Leónidas durante la campaña, desarrollada en USA para garantizar la seguridad de los observadores de la ONU, que corrían riesgo de "caerse" a un pozo.

La verdad es que la cosa ha salido bien, y Leónidas se ha convertido en un personaje querido de todos gracias a su campechanía, como demuestra en cuanto tiene ocasión de hacer visitas oficiales a otros países.

Pero, volviendo a lo nuestro... Sparta es un país hermosísimo y cuenta con una flora y fauna que son la envidia de todo el Mundo Antiguo... La mascota oficial del país, reconocida tras la victoria de Platea, es la jirafa, que hace las delicias de grandes y pequeños.

Sparta cuenta con una rica y ancestral tradición culinaria, entre la que destacamos dos platos:

Spaghetti con tomate (Pasta with red sauce). Por mandato de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, este plato ya no se prepara como antaño, con la sangre de los persas caídos en un pozo, sino con tomate, aunque todavía es posible encontrar en algunas aldeas apartadas quien lo prepare como antaño (click en la imagen para ver animación XD):

Otro de los grandes entretenimientos locales es la televisión pública, que goza de un gran prestigio gracias a sus interesantes programas y concursos, como el "Quiere ser espartano?" Un trepidante Quiz de conocimientos sobre la historia de Sparta; o la Ruleta de la Fortuna, todo un clásico...

También la industria cinematográfica ha ofrecido estos últimos años grandes producciones que han cautivado al gran público, en especial trabajos de Epic-Mafia y Epic-thriller, dos géneros auctóctonos:

También son los espartanos muy dados a las nuevas tecnologías, e internet tiene una gran acogida en el país.

Sin embargo, el entretenimiento nacional sigue siendo patear persas hasta que caigan en un pozo, y por ello es posible ver por doquier carteles como estos:

Así que, con las debidas precauciones, no dudéis en viajar a Sparta, y para ello os doy un último consejo, cuando lleguéis a Sparta, no os olvidéis de cantar la estrofa del himno nacional...

Nå raser debatten om politibetjenter bør være tilstede på en slik sosial mediekanal. Nasjonal sikkerhetsmyndighet (NSM) har advart politiet å dele personlige opplysninger eller "sensitiv informasjon" på Facebook i frykt for misbruk av kriminelle eller terrorister. 1100 politifolk har slettet sin profil mens 300 står igjen.

Spartas beskytter, Lenonidas stod igjen med 300 krigere. Med like stor krigsvilje vil de siste tapre politibetjentene kjempe en tapper kamp for å sosialisere på Facebook.

I don’t have heroes any more. Not really. When I was growing up there were certain sports stars I revered and as a six year old I looked on in wonder as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin gamboled about on the pitted, ancient surface of the moon.

Now I’m a man in my mid-forties and my views on the subject of heroes have been jaundiced by decades of lies and evasions from leaders of all political persuasions. Athletes these days are remote, rich and juiced on any performance enhancing drug they can get their hands on. And it turns out that Neil Armstrong is a rather cold, undemonstrative man and Buzz Aldrin spent the entire Apollo mission sulking because he wasn’t going to be the first one out the hatch once they set down in the Sea of Tranquility.

Heroes nowadays are at a disadvantage—Caesar and Alexander and Boadicea never had to put up with celebrity biographers (just malicious gossip), the Andrew Mortons and Kitty Kelleys of the world peeping in keyholes and tracking down anyone with a bit of tittle to tattle. It’s hard to rally the citizenry and inspire high minded ideals while trying to cover up or defend some transgression or moral lapse. The optics are really awful.

When I’m looking for a bit of inspiration, a true tale to remind me of the strength and resilience of the human spirit, I look to the past, often the very distant past. Seeking those individuals who seized control of their own fates, who were determined, regardless of the cost “to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield” (Tennyson). These men and women didn’t employ spin doctors or commission polls before determining policies and tactics.

We don’t find leaders of the quality of Leonidas, Xenophon or Marcus Aurelius in the halls of power these days. No figures of unimpeachable authority and strength to admire and emulate.

Take a look at the head of state of your country. Would you follow that person to the ends of the earth, serve them without question, suffer extreme deprivation, enter the very depths of Hell itself at their behest?

I rest my case.

Do the soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq feel heroic, like latter-day versions of Achilles and Agamemnon, laying siege to the fortresses of terrorism? Or are they just guys and gals who have a job to do, a family to support, hoping and praying each and every night before they bed down that they’ll survive their tours of duty?

We’ve become a smaller people, soft and pliant; hedonistic narcissists, indifferent to the world around us. We don’t dare dream and rarely does our gaze stray to the horizon line (for the most part we keep our heads down and try not to meet anyone’s eyes).

Historical narratives presented by the likes of Stephen Pressfield, Conn Iggulden, Robert Graves and Michael Curtis Ford evoke past ages with thrilling vigor and elan. These authors devote incredible time and energy researching the great and near great, presenting us with gorgeous, vibrant, utterly convincing portrayals that are documentary-like in their realism, provoking a constant sense of you are there. In the process, we are reminded of what frail and timid things we are in comparison, how addicted to creature comforts, how far removed from suffering and strife. We were a much sturdier, hardier breed in days of yore.

In America, it was the pioneers who came closest to the kind of heroic courage that is the making of myths and legends. Unfortunately, they soon gave way to the lawyers and bankers, mercantilism replacing true grit. From Kit Carson and Jim Bridger, Lewis & Clark and Davey Crockett to being a “nation of shopkeepers”.

I grieve for what has been lost—the price of “progress”, which seems to instill a desire for stability, comfort…and mediocrity. I crave heroes, the visions and dreams they inspire. We’re poorer as a species without such men and women. They show us what might be possible if we exert ourselves for a higher purpose and deny or withhold from us the bright attractions of commonplace things.
